Sapphire: Our world was made billions of years ago by the elementals. Humans worshipped these elementals and in return, they gave us the power to warp a specific element. Fire, water, earth and wind. A couple of years ago, a war broke out due to the aries of a fifth element; the dark forces. The elementals couldn't interfere in mortal conflicts, so they chose us to save the world. (Narrating)
Sapphire: And that leaves us here.
Two girls are sitting around a campfire, on logs.
Ruby: I can name like ten things wrong with what you just said.
Sapphire: Oh, come on.
Ruby: Firstly, Buddha made Jaya who made the planet and its guardians; the elementals.
Sapphire: Basically the same thing.
Ruby: No, and next up, the war broke out three years ago, so it can't be a 'couple' of years.
Sapphire: Really? You got the meaning, that's all that matters.
Ruby: A couple means two. A set of two.
Sapphire: Why do you always find the need to be a buzzkill?
Ruby: Also, I'm genuinely shocked at the fact that you got the elemental restrictions correct.
Sapphire: Did you think I was THAT stupid?
Ruby: Yes. Yes I did.
She stretches her limbs.
Ruby: Regardless, we need to find the other two elemental avatars.
Sapphire: Tomorrow?
Ruby: What?
Sapphire: I'm exhausted today.
She gets up and goes to the tent as Ruby soon follows.
A mysterious man observed them from afar, standing on top of the tree.
Raven: They're in range. Shall I eliminate them?
Suddenly a voice enters his mind.
Darkness: Wait. Just remain on the observant.
Raven: Got it.
The next day.
Ruby: What are you doing?
Ruby gets out of the tent, rubbing her eyes.
She looks around and sees Sapphire in front of a metal pot with boiling water.
Sapphire: Cooking.
Ruby: Cooking?
She shows her the pot full of boiling water with thinly sliced mushroom pieces.
Ruby: I didn't know you could cook.
Sapphire chuckles.
Sapphire:I can't.
She looks at the pot.
Sapphire: This is all I can cook. Something my mother taught me eight years ago.
Ruby: How's the water boiling? There's no fire.
Sapphire: Oh. I'm using my elemental powers to move the water molecules quickly, bringing the water to a boil.
Ruby: (That's… smart.)
Meanwhile,
Solider: Sir. A dark troop's been spotted nearby. What should we do?
General: Prepare Pearl… and the others.
A knight with dark armour flies towards a sit direction but stops when he notices a girl standing in the middle of a field, wearing light clothing and quietly blowing a whistle.
He lands in front of the girl but gets taken aback at seeing her presence.
Dark troop: Who are you?
Pearl: Do I need an introduction?
He slices his arm in half using an air slash, before his eye could even blink.
Dark troop: (This animal!)
Pearl: This will be over soon anyways.
She blasts him into a newly made tornado, which he destroys using a dark ball.
He launches another energy attack at her, but she dodges it with little to no effort.
Back.
Sapphire: So what now?
Ruby: Wait.
She closes her eyes, clenching her fist.
Sapphire: What are you doing?
Ruby: Sensing aura.
She points in a direction.
Ruby: This way.
Sapphire: Let's go then.
They start walking in that direction.
Sapphire: How'd you do that?
Ruby: Us avatars have larger aura and better aura sensing capabilities.
Sapphire: Wha?
Ruby: Didn't the water elemental tell you?
Sapphire: He probably did.
She starts laughing, rubbing her nose.
Sapphire: You think I paid attention?
Ruby: Valid.
Pearl quietly gazes at the dark troop, before slowly whistling.
A few dozen air users appear behind him, blasting him away using a strong gust of wind.
Pearl: Sonic slash..
She slashes the air two times, creating two air slashes, which hit him, forming a small explosion.
Pearl: Air snipe.
She puts her fingers in a gun pose and it blasts a bullet made out of super dense air, at the speed of sound, ripping a hole through his head.
Pearl cleans some dust off her shoulders before walking to the fading body.
Pearl: He was way too weak. Nothing but a spy.
She turns around, still holding her stoic look.
Pearl: If anyone else arrives, make sure I'm the first to know.
Air user: Got it.
She blasts off as the air users soon follow.
Ruby: Here we are.
They clear some bushes and make it to the battlefield.
Sapphire: What happened here?
Ruby: I... dunno.
They watch an already destroyed and empty battlefield with confused expressions.
Sapphire: Do you sense it?
Ruby: The aura is strongest here. The avatar was here and must still be nearby.
Sapphire: So we need to search for them?
Ruby nods.
As they get out of the forest, another dark user with a red purple aura lands on top of the battlefield.
Sapphire: A dark user.
Dark solider: He did good enough. Death was all he was worth.
He glances and then glares at the two of them.
Suddenly, without a warning, he grabs Ruby by the neck and prepares a dark blade from his other hand.
He is about to stab her when he notices his hand is frozen.
He breaks the ice but Ruby blasts him back using fire released from her feet.
Sapphire: Eat this.
She launches a few ice spikes at him but he breaks them using his fists.
Suddenly the ice fragments turn into water and hit his body, making his whole body wet.
Sapphire: Perfect.
He blasts all the water off as she clenches her fists.
The second the water stops touching his body, it all converts to ice spikes.
Ruby: (S-she's a genius... isn't she?)
Sapphire: (I thought I got him for sure. If the water was even a centimeter closer, he'd be dead.)
He blasts an energy ball at Sapphire who tries to block it using three walls of ice, but ends up being too slow, leading to her getting blasted to a tree.
Ruby blasts an endless barrage of fire attacks but a single energy output, immobilizes her completely.
Sapphire: (We're fighting a losing battle.)
She starts to look around and spots a small puddle of water.
Sapphire: Bingo.
The dark soldier slowly starts to walk towards Ruby.
She turns it into an ice spike and launches it up in the air, missing him completely.
As it reaches the clouds, it shatters into hundreds of small water droplets, raining from the sky.
He looks up and scoffs.
Dark solider: What was that supposed to do?
Sapphire: Mark your death.
He appears in front of her, pinning her to a tree and prepares his dark blade.
Dark solider: Brave words for a last statement.
Suddenly, the entire tree, including Sapphire, is uplifted.
He looks up to see the air users and Pearl.
Pearl: Smart move.
She says to Sapphire before blasting a gust of wind down.
He turns to the form of dark energy and appears behind them when Pearl launches thousands of leaves from the trees below, blinding him temporarily.
All the air users work together to form a sonic boom, blasting the dark soldier on top of a hill as Pearl slowly puts herself and Sapphire on the ground right before launching the tree on top of the dark soldier.
Ruby: Are you-
Pearl glances at her direction before nodding.
All three of the elemental avatars group in the middle and get in a battle pose.
Hundreds of dark energy balls fall from the sky, grounding all the air users, clearing all the trees and dealing massive damage.
He blasts down, causing even the dust particles to fly up.
Dark solider: You have proven to be... threatening.
He punches Pearl miles away but she stabilizes herself using her wind based powers.
Dark soldier: Hence must be dealt with first.
She glares at him with a demonic gaze.
Pearl: I don't enjoy conflicts with strong opponents.
She dashes towards him at the speed of sound and hits his face with a super dense ball of air.
Pearl: More of a reason for me to end this quickly.
His mouth starts to bleed as Pearl launches many vacuum blasts at him.
He suddenly does a backflip, barely dodging an ice spike Sapphire launched from the back.
Ruby suddenly appears with her hands fully covered with fire and lands a double axe handed slam to his gut, blasting him to the ground.
Ruby: Now!
An ice spike originates from the ground and goes through his arm.
Ruby puts her hand together and blasts a beam of fire but he vanishes out of thin air.
He appears behind Ruby and slices her arm, leaving a massive scar.
As he is about to land the final blow, Pearl carries Ruby away using a gust of wind.
All the air users try to attack but with a single slash, all of them die.
Pearl launches herself towards him, but using his injured arm he punches her kilometers up.
As her body enters the clouds, a small lighting is formed.
He immediately shifts his attention to Sapphire when it starts to rain.
Dark solider: What?
Pearl: Utilize the intellect you hold.
Sapphire: And they said the fates were fake.
Before he could even react, hundreds of ice spikes pierced his body.
He blasted all of them out and charged, kicking Sapphire to a hill.
As the force shook the hill, a giant flow of water originating from a pond fell down.
The dark soldier got into a battle pose towards the water when he notices Ruby smiling.
He turns around to see Sapphire on top of a Chinese dragon fully made up of water.
Sapphire: See you in hell.
She launches the dragon and it creates a tsunami.
All the water freezes to ice and countless spikes originate, thrusting his body.
Dark solider: This-This isn't over.
Pearl: Oh. But it so is... Storm shifter.
She descends from behind him, holding an entire storm cloud above using one hand right before condensing into it the size of a car and throwing it on top of him.
*Boom*
An ice spike launched from Sapphire, still in the air, goes through his head, killing him.
Pearl: Mrs Sapphire!
As Sapphire slips out of conciseness, she starts to fall down.
Ruby, seeing the sight of Sapphire's downfall, blasts to her direction.
She tackles Sapphire mid-fall and they both land on the wet ground as Ruby also fully faints.
As she slowly opens her eyes, she sees Sapphire sleeping on the bed she is on. Sapphire's entire body besides the hands and head were on the ground.
Ruby slowly strokes Sapphire's hair but jumps when Pearl enters the room.
Pearl gives her a disappointed glare.
Ruby: Hey.
Pearl: Try to remain less on the affectionate side.
Ruby: Ok. How are you doing now?
Pearl: My apologies. I didn't quite get what you mean.
Ruby: Y'know. You saw many of your people well... die.
Pearl: I appreciate your worries but keep in mind. Death awaits everyone. Remaining in grief seems... unnecessary.
Ruby: (Is she really that cold?)
Pearl: Granted; it is a shame our army lost many men, but to me personally... it's nothing much.
Ruby: What's up with her?
She points at Sapphire.
Pearl: You're blessed to have such trustworthy companionship. She only woke up a few days prior.
She turns around and glares at her with one eye.
Pearl: Yet ever since that she's been taking care of you... without looking after herself.
Ruby gasps.
Pearl: Yesterday you were in critical condition. She not only stood by your side, but was the one who provided us herbs from mountain ranges... all for you.
Ruby: Why? Why would she do that? ... for me?
Pearl: We asked her multiple times... Each time we got the same answer... 'She's my friend.'
Ruby: looks at her sleeping face in shock.
Pearl: You should thank her. Thank the only reason you survived from death's grasp.
Ruby looks are her, conflicted on what to say.
After the passing of some hours.
Sapphire wakes us and starts rubbing her eyes but notices Ruby missing from her bed.
Sapphire: Ruby?
She gets up and starts looking around when she notices a ring with a note attached to it.
She picks the ring and reads.
"Dear Sapphire,
I heard you helped me get better.
And I am really grateful for it. Please take it as a token of appreciation and our friendship.
Love. Ruby"
Sapphire chuckles and puts the ring on.
Sapphire: Must be hard not knowing how to show love.
She examines the ring's design and notices the ring having a wave-like floral pattern with a lily on top. Above the lily, remained a yin and yang pattern. In the ring the pattern was carved by actual gems; ruby and sapphire. Here sapphire was used to carve the yang whereas ruby filled the slot of yin.
She turns around and sees Pearl, leaning against the door frame with her hands crossed, causing her to get flinched.
Pearl: A tangible medium of expressing love?
She scoffs.
Pearl: How cliché.
She sighs before turning back.
She signals Sapphire to follow before leaving the room.
Outside they meet the general.
Pearl: Sir.
She salutes him. His body is old yet still standing strong. One arm fully missing and the rest of the body filled with scars. His left eye is covered with a black eye patch.
He walks up to Sapphire.
Sapphire: Sir.
Sapphire, looking at Pearl, salutes him too (but with the opposite hand) causing him to chuckle.
General: Sapphire. I heard the news. You were a great help in the battle. And I assume you know the war is far from over. I hope you together with the other elemental avatars can stop this war for good.
Sapphire: I-We will.
General: Exactly what I wanted to hear. Now... may we get the blessing to train and refine your skills?
Sapphire: Is Ruby agreeing?
She looks at Pearl who gives a quiet nod as Sapphire smiles.
Sapphire: You bet I am.
General: Excellent. Get ready. It starts tomorrow.
Later that night.
Sapphire walks up to Ruby.
Sapphire: Where've ya been?
They are on a balcony at Pearl's house. A pagoda style classical Japanese tower.
Ruby: I was... training.
Sapphire: Learned a few new tricks?
Ruby: Not... quiet.
Sapphire and Ruby look away, breaking eye contact.
Sapphire: (Should I ask her about the ring?)
She starts fiddling her figures.
Ruby: (Should I mention the herbs?)
She starts to grip the wall.
Sapphire: (Does she wanna talk about it tho?)
She glances over at the ring shining from the moonlight.
Ruby: (Wouldn't it come out of the blue?)
Sapphire: (Why am I over-thinking?)
Ruby: (Maybe she's waiting for me to start a conversation.)
Her scarlet eyes trace Sapphire's hand.
They both take a heavy deep breath and look at one another.
Ruby: Sapphire-
Sapphire: Ruby-
Both their words overlap, cutting one another.
They both look at one another for a second, when Pearl comes to the balcony.
Pearl: It's time to eat.
Both Ruby and Sapphire: (Thank goodness.)
Pearl: You can thank whoever later.
Both Ruby and Sapphire: (Wait. Is she Psychic?) [She said that because she thought they were gonna thank her for inviting them to spend the night.]
Both of them remain bamboozled as Pearl leaves.
The next day.
The three elemental avatars and the general are in front of a waterfall.
Sapphire: What're we doing here?
Ruby: Nothing much.
General: Now. We'll begin with something simple. Four hours of meditating... below the waterfall.
Sapphire: What?
General: Guess you did defeat a member of the dark forces. Four hours might not be enough. Fine, five hours.
She slowly turns Ruby in disbelief.
Sapphire: Did you do this yesterday?
Ruby: Yep.
She sighs.
A few hours later.
All three of them are meditating, and the general continues to watch when a soldier walks up to him.
Solider: Sir. The troops we sent to the destroyed village claim there to be no trace of the dark forces… like they were never there to begin with.
General: How could they just vanish out of thin air?
Solider: What do we do?
General: Tell them to return... and fortify our defenses. Not being able to sense their aura is a massive threat and one we can not mess with.
Solider: Got it sir.
He leaves as the general continues observing.
He uses his wind powers to fly through the waterfall, towards Sapphire and hit her on the back of the head with a wooden Chinese fan.
Sapphire: Ouch.
She grabs her head in pain.
General: Using your powers to stop the water from hitting you. Creative. Well leave it for later. Here we train our body, mind and soul.
Ruby opens one eye to see the scene but gets wacked on the back of the head like Sapphire.
General: Focus.
Days pass by.
Sapphire is standing on top of the water in a pond, watching the fish play when Ruby enters the frame.
Ruby: Sapphire! General's calling us.
Sapphire: Got it.
She starts gliding through the water and in front of Ruby.
Ruby: Pearl hasn't spoken a single word the whole day.
She turns around and starts walking.
Ruby: Most of her responses are in nods.
Sapphire smiles before jumping on Ruby's back.
Ruby: What are you doing?
Sapphire smiles through Ruby's embarrassment.
Sapphire: My legs are tired. Carry me there, thank you.
Ruby starts to get annoyed
Ruby: I'll drop you off a cliff.
Sapphire: Oh, come on. Don't be like that.
Ruby: I'm not kidding.
Sapphire: Please.
Ruby glares at her before starting to walk with Sapphire still on her back.
There.
General: In only a week of training, your growth is significant... but the world can't wait any longer.
All three of them stand parallel to one another.
General: You need to find the earth avatar as soon as possible. So we'll assist you.
He hands each of them a pouch filled with gold coins.
General: Each pouch can last you up to a year. Once you unite with the earth avatar, bring the earth users here. The more troops on one side, the higher chance of victory. Understood?
They all nod but Sapphire is the only one smiling with excitement.
A few days pass.
Sapphire: Ruby. Are you sure?
They're walking through a dried wasteland.
Ruby: I am. The aura I sense is much stronger here.
Pearl quietly walks with them.
Sapphire: Is that it?
She points at a destroyed village.
Both Sapphire and Ruby look at one another.
Ruby shrugs.
Ruby: I dunno.
Raven, this time high in the sky, is still watching.
Raven: Sir. This time three avatars are together. I suggest sudden elimination.
Darkness: Wait till the fourth one arrives. If the last finds out about their death, it'll prove more of a challenge to find him.
Raven: But they might get stronger.
Darkness: No matter how strong they get, you'll always be stronger. Just remain in their shadows.
Raven: Got it.
They're at the abandoned village.
Sapphire looks to her right to see a small pool of water.
She takes the water and puts it in a small bottle, using her water magic.
Ruby: What happened here?
Pearl: No signs of life. How original.
Ruby: Do you think the dark forces caused this?
Pearl: That's the obvious explanation. I am inclined though.
Sapphire: Do you sense that?
The grains of sand beneath their feet start shaking.
Pearl suddenly jumps in the air, but Ruby and Sapphire's legs get trapped in a few rocks which rose from the ground.
Pearl: The earth users.
The sand falls and around a dozen people with green and pale yellow clothing rise. In between them stood a boy with emerald eyes and similar but more armored clothing.
Pearl gets in a battle pose but the boy gestures to her to stop.
He slowly walks up to the elemental avatars with a firm and serious look.
Emerald: Leave.
Sapphire: You. You're the earth avatar, aren't you?
Emerald: I am. And you three need to forget about this land and never return.
Ruby: But we need you.
Emerald: I know.
Ruby: Then why-
Emerald: But so do my people.
Sapphire: Not just us. The fate of this whole world. It's all up to you.
Emerald: Even if it was... To me, my people are still more important.
He uses the rocks to turn them around and he also does so.
Emerald: Nothing personal. I just can't risk the dark forces finding out about our hidden location.
He starts walking away but Pearl jumps in front of him.
Pearl: We can ensure your people's safety.
Emerald: But I can't confirm your trust.
Pearl: We won't betray you. Why would we? We have a prevalent enemy.
Emerald: Betrayal only comes from the ones you trust. I don't trust any of you one bit.
Pearl: May I ask for a reason on why you refuse to assist us?
Emerald: Because...
He looks at the other earth users.
Emerald: Because we're not warriors... We're survivors.
Pearl: Do you not seek an era of peace?
Emerald: I hope you realize true peace can come when there's only one soul left.
Pearl: So you're just gonna give up? Just like that? Without even trying?
Emerald: We did try... And we failed. Us earth users have almost been driven to extinction.
Sapphire: (I-I never saw it. What is this new form of Pearl?)
Ruby: (Damn! These are some strong arguments.)
Pearl: We can't achieve progress without the necessary sacrifice. We've also lost many times in life, yet we still stand. We stand with pride.
Emerald: War only leads to loss. Death. There's no benefit; only death.
Pearl: Doesn't mean we should give up. Hope is what makes us live just a day longer. Hope is what gets us out of bed every morning. And hope is what drives us to fulfil our destiny. If you live it's because of hope. So use it.
Emerald: We don't want to win... we want to survive..
Pearl: What's the point? Everyone shares death. Why not die trying... trying to do what's right?
Emerald: Because we've already done it.
He walks two steps towards her.
Emerald: We've done things your way... and it didn't work. Now we're doing things my way.
Sapphire: You're right. War took everything from you... from us. But standing still isn't going to fix everything. Hiding isn't bringing anyone back.
Ruby: Exactly. A life lived in fear is a life not worth living.
Emerald: Let me live my life the way I want. You have no say in any of this.
Pearl: Look around you. The trees still whisper and the wind and stars still hang overhead. Ancient and blind yet beneath the gentle hum of the universe lies something colder; something quiet. An indifference so vast it swallows every scream; every prayer; every promise ever made.
Her luminescent eyes remain firm.
Earth, a trembling marble in the void spins out of habit. It does not spin for us. It never did.
Emerald remains stunned.
Sapphire: Jeez.
Ruby: What has she been through?
Pearl: We are born with soft hands and bright eyes, taught that we matter; that our meaning is ours to make. But our meanings are not baked into the fabric of the cosmos. The sun does not rise for us; it burns because it must. The ocean does not sigh its rhythm in order to soothe our dreams; they churn fast and violently, ruled by laws and chances. Civilizations rise like breath on glass; worn, fleeing... forgotten. Empires, ideologies, faiths, all of them crumble, swallowed by time like bones beneath a dessert.
She forms a small ball of air, right before crushing it.
Pearl: Our monuments will become dust, our existences will rot and even the memories, so sacred to us, will scatter like ashes across a windless void.
Sapphire: My god.
Ruby: What is she trying to do?
Pearl: We orbit a dying star in a galaxy slowly drifting apart in a universe where the end isn't fire or destruction... but entropy. The long, slow unraveling of everything. There will be no bang; no blaze... just stillness and yet here we are. Here we are pretending, dressing up nothingness with stories and rituals. Waging wars over gods and borders. Falling in love with people who will also die. Laughing. Crying. Shuffling endlessly through the noise in hopes of forgetting that we are temporary; accidents; flickers of awareness in an otherwise blind and endless night. And maybe... that's what makes it beautiful. Because against all the crushing silence of an uncaring world...
She smiles.
Pearl: We dare stand. We dare sing... the song of hope.
Emerald: That-
Pearl: My apologies. I... got carried away.
Emerald strokes his hand.
Emerald: Do you actually believe in that?
Pearl: Irrelevant question.
Sapphire: Ruby. Do-do you feel that?
Ruby: Feel what?
Sapphire's bottle cap spins open.
Ruby: What are you talking about?
Ruby watches in horror as Sapphire's heart sinks.
Sapphire launches ice spikes all across the sky, but the winds howl in response, revealing Raven.
His aura starts to shake the sky and crack the land beneath.
Ruby: He was invisible. Not just him... his aura too.
Emerald turns to his allies.
Emerald: SINK! QUICKLY!
Before the earth users could even grasp what's happening, an energy ball was launched at them... leaving nothing but fire.
Emerald: NO!
He tried to run towards them but Pearl grabbed his hand, stopping him.
Pearl: We need to deal with the situation at hand.
Emerald: They might still be alive.
Pearl: You can sense their aura... can't you?
Emerald looks at her with a distressed look as Pearl just nods.
An array of dark blades are launched but Sapphire blocks them using a wall of ice.
Sapphire: Could we do this later?
Pearl and Emerald get in a battle pose as the wall shatters.
Emerald launches a few rocks at Raven who just glares at him. The rocks start to orbit Raven.
With a single snap, he destroys all the rocks.
Emerald launches more rocks but shatters when coming in contact with his aura.
Raven: Let's make this interesting.
As more rocks are launched, Raven teleports out of the way; on top of a rock and launches all the rocks; all but one.
A loose rock goes flying towards Ruby who tries to run away but notices her legs still stuck.
Ruby looks up and blasts a flame output, destroying the rocks above and below.
Ruby: God bless combustion.
Pearl: Sonic slash.
She destroys the rock before blasting herself towards Raven.
Pearl: Be careful.
Raven: Watch...
Pearl: Vacuum rush.
She charges up a vacuum chamber the size of a human head and tries to hit him with it in point blank range, but he disappears and reappears behind her, hitting her with his elbow on her neck, causing her to faint.
Raven: As your doom crumbles up everything you ever thought you were.
Ruby charges towards them and kicks Raven with a leg of fire, blasting him to the ground before carrying Pearl (Princess style) and taking her to rest below a tree.
Raven charges up another energy attack but the floor opens up beneath his feet, and he falls in.
Sapphire drops some water on the rocks trapping her, causing them to get weak, as she breaks out.
Sapphire: Curse whoever gave her combustion, and not me.
Emerald continues to bury Raven but he blasts an energy ball at him, clearing a path for himself in the process..
He tries to block it using a wall but it goes right through, blasting him back towards Sapphire as Raven cleans some dust off his body.
Sapphire: This isn't just you fighting. We're all here... As a team.
Emerald nods and they both get in a battle pose.
Raven: Your life. You reason. Everything.
Suddenly an earth spike is launched from the ground, but he grabs it, crushing it into bits.
Sapphire: Hey Darkness!
She launches an ice spike which shatters into water drops and surrounds him.
Sapphire: Suck on this.
All the water forms ice crystals, piercing his body as a disk of ice is launched in his direction, which breaks when coming in contact with his body and pierces him deep in the skin.
Suddenly a giant flat plate of rock collapses on top of him but he breaks it with a single fist.
More ice spikes are launched at him, which all he dodges effortlessly.
Sapphire: Is this enough of an opening?
Ruby suddenly rises from the ground below, behind him right before blasting him with an endless beam of fire.
Through the fire he grabs Ruby by the neck, his body filled with second degree burns.
He slices Ruby countless times, leaving scars all over her body as she coughs out blood.
Sapphire suddenly launches whips of ice but it all breaks on impact on his aura.
Raven: Is this all you have to offer?
Pearl: Air snipe.
She snipes his arm from above the tree and frees Ruby who falls into the ground.
He peels off all his burnt flesh, as new skin starts to grow back almost instantly.
*BOOM*
Two sonic booms are launched at him but as the dust settles, there's nothing.
Sapphire: Where did he-
He suddenly appears behind Sapphire and is about to thrust through her stomach, when the ground below her feet and she herself glide away.
Emerald: Thank me later.
He forges a gauntlet out of rocks and forms a battle stance as Raven smiles.
Raven disappears again, this time appearing on the side of Emerald with a kick which he blocks.
Sapphire: (Just stay still for a damn second.)
Both of them blast one another back and without a second thought, charge at one another with their fists when-
Pearl: Sonic slash.
She slashes the air, separating them just for a second.
Sapphire: That's what I'm talking about.
The blood Pearl sniped from his hand turns into a solid state, pouring out and starts binding and piercing his body.
Sapphire: Here it-
She gets stabbed through the stomach as the blood successfully pierces through his armpit.
Sapphire: -goes.
He takes his blade out and is about to thrust again, but Pearl jumps between them, blasting them both back.
Pearl: Get the two of them out of here.
Emerald nods before making the earth swallow himself and Sapphire.
She launches an air slash at him, which he blocks with his hand before launching an energy ball but it misses as she's nowhere to be seen.
Pearl: (Can't keep up with the speed of sound.)
She blasts a dense bubble of air at his stomach, knocking him back.
Pearl: (Can he?)
As she's about to do it again, he suddenly grabs her hand and slams her to the ground.
Pearl blasts wind outwards, and creates a few sand storms, before blasting off.
Raven launches an energy attack but she claps the air, blasting herself forward and destroying the attack mid-air.
Raven: They're gone. Should I follow them?
Darkness: There's no need. We know where they're going. Prepare the dark forces.
Raven: Got it.
He turns into a form of darkness and vanishes out of thin air.
A few moments later.
Pearl flies inside a cave and collapses from tiredness.
Sapphire: You're here.
Pearl immediately gets up at the sight of seeing Sapphire and cleans some dust off her clothes.
Pearl: You healed quickly.
Sapphire: Guess being an elemental avatar has its perks, huh?
Pearl: I assume Mrs Ruby is still... recovering.
Sapphire's mood shifts to a serious one.
Sapphire: She should also recover… soon.
Pearl notices and walks up to a fainted Ruby.
Pearl: Bring some water.
Sapphire: Wh-
She looks at Pearl's stoic face and nods before pouring out some water from a hole in the cave.
Pearl tears a piece of her clothing and wets it before using it to clean some wounds on her body.
Sapphire starts walking deeper into the cave.
She makes it in a giant part of the cave with a small pond of water in the middle.
She notices Emerald sitting next to a rock and goes to sit there next to him.
Sapphire: Hey.
Emerald: What do you want?
Sapphire: To see some of your powers.
Emerald: Yeah. Well I ain't showing you anything.
Sapphire: Come on. Please.
Emerald: Could we not do this right now.
Sapphire: Why?
Emerald: All of my people died half an hour ago. Why do you think?
Sapphire: Point taken.
She smiles and continues looking at the water.
Emerald: Are you here just to bug me?
Sapphire: Nah. Just checking up on my new pal.
Emerald: We're not friends.
Sapphire: You know how egotistical you have to be to think the conversation is just about you?
Emerald looks at her with a confused look as she slowly walks towards the water pool and smiles back at him.
Sapphire: I'm talking about Kiki. The fish.
She looks at the fish swimming in the water.
Emerald tries to say something but stops himself.
Sapphire: I know how you feel.
Sapphire, her feet now in water, turns around in a bridge pose.
Sapphire: We both don't have anything truly left.
She smiles.
Emerald: Then why do you fight? Like-
She shuts him up by putting her finger on top of his lips.
Sapphire: Cutting others.
She sighs while shaking her head.
Sapphire: Ego again.
She chuckles before looking at her ring.
Sapphire: Because I can. Plus... their memories... they're precious to me. Wouldn't wanna lose all that, would I?
Emerald just looks at her speechless.
Sapphire: Well. It's too cold here. Let's get out.
She runs back as Emerald still remains frozen hearing their voices.
*The voices*
Sapphire: You're awake.
Ruby: Yea-
Bang. Thud.
Sapphire laughs.
Pearl: Are you two usually this overly affectionate?
Sapphire: You haven't seen the worst of us.
Ruby: She tackled me. How's that my fault?
A few hours later.
Sapphire is cooking food and Ruby is watching as Pearl leans against a wall.
Emerald slowly walks towards Pearl.
Pearl: What's attributing to your traction, may I ask?
She glares at him.
Emerald: I haven't even said anything yet.
Pearl: Were you hoping for conversation?
Emerald: Well...
He looks away.
Pearl sighs.
Pearl: What do you want?
Emerald: Who... is she?
Pearl: Mrs Sapphire? The youngest and brightest warrior I know.
Emerald: How can she be so... optimistic?
Pearl just glares him down.
Emerald: Oh. You don't know.
Sapphire walks up to them.
Sapphire: Pearl. Should we be called the horizon? Cause that's where the sea and sky meet.
Ruby: For the last time. 'Horizon' is a split between our vision and what's beyond.
Sapphire puffs her cheeks and hands them their bowls full of food.
Sapphire: Ok mom.
A few moments later.
Ruby and Sapphire are leaning against the same rock.
Sapphire suddenly rests her head on Ruby's lap.
Sapphire smiles in her direction.
Sapphire: I almost won.
Ruby: You want a praise?
Sapphire nods as Ruby strokes her hair.
Ruby: I'm... sorry. I wasn't strong enough.
Sapphire looks at her with confusion.
Sapphire: Sorry for what?
Ruby: Well... I couldn't protect you earlier-
Sapphire: -And?
Ruby is left stunned as Sapphire starts giggling and gets up.
Sapphire: What are you gonna do now? Join the dark side?
Ruby also starts laughing.
Ruby: Please. My standards aren't that low.
Emerald sits on the ground, cross-legged, watching the two of them play.
Pearl gives them a disappointed glare.
Emerald: Why're you always so cold?
Pearl just stares into his soul.
Emerald: Forget I asked.
Pearl: Could you follow me?
He gives her a confused look.
A few moments pass.
Emerald: What's up?
She takes him to a small statue of Buddha carved into a small hill.
Pearl starts praying without saying another word.
Emerald: What are you doing?
Pearl: Praying... so your comrades have a peaceful and effusive life in heaven.
Emerald: You believe in heaven and hell.
Pearl: I don't.
Emerald: Then why are you-
Pearl: If anything, I feel like they deserve heaven after suffering a life full of losses.
Emerald looks down.
Pearl: It just feels better to think that way.
Emerald let's out a slight smile before also starting to pray.
Emerald: (They… aren't as bad as I thought.)
The next day.
Ruby: Are you all ready?
Sapphire: YEAH!!!
Emerald: Too loud.
Sapphire: Sorry.
Ruby: The air base is about a week's walk from here.
Emerald: Got it.
They all start walking but Emerald stops to look at the Buddha carving one last time and smiles.
Four days later.
Sapphire: It was so cool. You have no idea.
Pearl: (She's been talking about this for half a day. Mrs Ruby's long left the conversation and Mr Emerald's hit his eight yawn.)
Ruby: How long do you think she can go on for?
Pearl shrugs and continues walking.
Emerald: How long have you known one another for?
Ruby: Let's see. About a month.
Emerald: And does she not... bother you?
Ruby: Bother? No way. She's the sweetest.
Emerald: I'm talking about her positiveness.
Ruby gets silent.
Ruby: I guess...
Sapphire: So what do you think?
Pearl: Tax evasion should be legalized.
Sapphire: Exactly. Everyone does it. Why is it still illegal?
Ruby: Hey. Y'know the time I was charged with murder.
She runs towards them, laughing awkwardly.
Sapphire: Murder!!!
Pearl looks at her with disgust, causing Ruby to start freaking out.
Ruby: Wait. I can explain.
Sapphire: Be happy It wasn't arson.
Emerald looks at Sapphire's laughing face.
Emerald: (I don't think we know you that well... do we?)
Later that night.
Emerald: Why are we doing this again?
They all are setting up a picnic blanket.
Sapphire: Ruby couldn't find enough reason why not to.
Ruby: My bad.
Pearl glares Ruby down.
Ruby: I'm sorry. Okay?
Emerald: Got that. But why did you suggest it?
Sapphire: Why? Why not? Plus...
She stares into the stars before reaching out, trying to grab them.
Sapphire: This is most likely our last adventure together.
She puts her hand near her heart and gives a soft smile.
Sapphire: So let's enjoy the moment while it lasts.
She sighs.
Sapphire: Also because we got too much money to waste.
Emerald: Rightfully so.
Sapphire: Want me to spit some wisdom?
Ruby: Please don't.
Sapphire: Of all the ways this world can take someone from you, death is the kindest.
Pearl: True.
Ruby: You can't just drop existential dreads out of the blue.
Sapphire: Is it a crime to start a conversation?
Emerald: Not that I'm aware of.
Ruby: Judging by how much you speak,it should be.
Sapphire sits on the blanket, signalling the others to sit too.
Sapphire: See. This isn't so bad.
Ruby: What do you think, Pearl?
Pearl: This moment could be filled with utility as we could collect our thoughts and prepare a plan.
Emerald: You got anything in mind?
Pearl quietly shakes her head.
Sapphire: But I do.
Ruby: Here we go again.
The next morning.
Pearl is up in the sky, observing her surroundings. She suddenly stops, blocking the sun using her hand, and points towards a tower and some buildings in the surrounding area.
Pearl: There. Civilization.
She slowly descends to the side of her allies.
Ruby: Finally. We can get supplies.
Sapphire: Plus we're pretty close to the air user's hideout. Only a day's walk from here.
Emerald: I have no idea what you're talking about.
Sapphire: Didn't ask an egotistical jerk, did I?
His face get tomato red as he turns back.
Emerald: Shut up.
Sapphire smiles, teasing him.
Ruby: Let's get going.
Pearl nods and starts walking as the others also follow.
Ruby: Is this?
Pearl: An abandoned water user village.
She sighs before kneeling down. She picks up some dust from the ground and carries it up, where the wind blows it away.
Pearl: It appears the dark forces got here too.
She puts her hands together and starts praying.
Ruby: What's she doing?
Emerald also starts praying without saying another word as Ruby also does the same.
Pearl: Well that's that.
She starts to walk in.
Ruby: A former water village?
She turns to Sapphire.
Ruby: Did you know about this?
Sapphire, caught off guard, starts to shake her head.
Sapphire: N-no. No I didn't.
They all walk in the village.
Ruby: Ok. Split up. Search for supplies and meet back up here in an hour. Got it?
Pearl nods.
Emerald: Got it.
Sapphire: Y-yeah.
Pearl looks at her with a confused look but changes her gaze when she hears Emerald speak.
Emerald: I'll go this way.
He points in a direction before turning here and walking.
A few moments later.
Pearl walks through the destroyed ruins, when she notices a giant hole in the wall.
She sees a small skeleton of a child, lying in a corner as a doll rests on a shelf.
She, with a flick of her fingers, blows the doll to the skeleton before turning back, and walking away.
Emerald, covering some ground on destroyed lands, turns a corner to see a small plant.
He gets to his knees and uproots the two leaved plant and puts it in a small corner with some grass.
Emerald: You're safe there.
Some gentle wind breezes through the surrounding, slowly blowing his clothes.
Ruby, clenching her fists with a small fireball to her left, explores a dark tavern.
She sees a basket full of fruits and is about to pick it up but immediately jolts back after hearing a sound.
She turns around to look at the source of the sound and finds a rat.
Ruby: Oh. Just a little angle.
She releases a sigh of relief before walking up to the rat, half buried below some rubble.
She takes the basket and walks up to the rat.
She picks up some rubble, freeing the rat before putting an apple in front of it, before walking away.
Sapphire, lost in her world, walks through the quiet alleyways when she notices a well in front.
She walks towards the well and sees her face in the reflection.
*drop*
Suddenly a drop of tear hits the water of the well and Sapphire notices that she's crying.
She grabs some water from the well and washes her face with it, before storing some in her bottle.
Suddenly, her gaze is stolen by a blue banner with wave patterns similar to her wrist band.
Sapphire: (I do miss them huh?)
She shakes her head before kicking some sand.
Sapphire: (Well missing them isn't bringing anyone back.)
She continues moving.
Meanwhile, in the layer of darkness.
A land with nothing but darkness and the mist, Raven stands in front of a few dozen other dark users.
Raven: Get ready. We're invading the air user's territory.
He launches a dark blade towards a bird, killing it.
Raven: Remember. In the world of the cosmos... no cries are heard... only power speaks.
All the members of the dark forces cheer.
Raven: For the darkness.
Ruby: I'm back.
Emerald: What took so long?
Ruby: The building I was under almost collapsed.
Pearl: Where's Mrs Sapphire?
Emerald: How would I kn-
She glares him down before facing Ruby.
Ruby: She'll be here quickly.
Pearl sighs.
Pearl: I wouldn't be so sure.
She glances over at the tribe's flag.
Emerald: Why so?
Pearl: I assume you know about the pain she hides... She is the youngest among us... and the most relied upon.
The wind howls in the background.
Pearl: This place is most likely the cause of her pain... Yet we've still been leaning on her too much.
They both get a stoic expression.
Emerald: She's true. We know almost nothing about Sapphire... the real Sapphire.
Ruby: What can we do then?
Pearl: YOU two will go locate her.
Ruby: Wait. What about you?
Pearl starts levitating above the air.
Pearl: That's not relevant.
Ruby: Wait!
She flies away without even turning back.
Emerald: God.
Ruby: Let's go. I can sense her aura.
Emerald: Are you not gonna question her?
Ruby: She's always been like this.
Pearl lands on the highest point of the town, (On top of the tower located in the tribe.) standing on one leg.
She sighs and shakes her own head.
Pearl: Why must I be so selfish?
She looks at the palm of her hand.
Pearl: Wonder why I always run.
She suddenly turns around and blasts a dark warrior down.
Dark warrior: Elemental.
Pearl just glares him down.
Pearl: Air snipe.
A super dense bullet of air hits him on the eye, causing him to start coughing blood.
Pearl: Vacuum rush.
She dashes towards him at the speed of sound before kicking him using a vacuum chamber.
He gets hit towards a tree and dies.
Pearl: The dark forces.
She looks up at the sky.
Pearl: They're coming... aren't they?
Meanwhile,
Sapphire: Here we go.
She cleans off one last spec of foliage off a statue of the water elemental. (A stone statue of a genie like figure with a floating water droplet for a head)
The statue is located in the middle of a pond, with dust covering the surface.
Sapphire, standing on top of the water, taps her foot down twice and the water clears up, as lily pads and other underwater flora rise up.
She smiles before front flipping out the pond.
She looks around and through her memories, sees a bunch of blurred colorful figures, many holding hands, some in groups, and all having fun.
Memories: Here you go.
Memories: How much for the fish?
Memories: Man. Taxes suck.
Memories: Bless whoever.
Memories: Dude, chill out... get it? Ice pun?
Through the crowd, a woman who isn't blurry, walks towards her.
She sees a childhood self of her holding a gold coin.
Sapphire: Mama. Here. (child)
She waves towards the woman.
Mother: What is it?
Sapphire: Look. (child)
She points at the statue while holding a coin.
Mother: Go on then. Throw the coin.
Sapphire: Why? (child)
Mother: If it lands, you can make a wish, and it'll come true.
She throws the coin but it misses and Sapphire's eyes get teary.
Mother: Don't worry.
She pats her head.
Mother: It's the thought that counts. Make a wish. I'm sure the water elemental will listen.
Sapphire gets excited, before starting to pray.
Sapphire: Oh great elemental. Please listen to my prayers and fulfill my only wish. Please give me sushi for dinner. (child)
Mother starts to laugh.
Mother: Don't say it out loud.
Sapphire: But I want the elemental to hear my prayers. (child)
Mother: Let's not disturb gods for this.
She gives a soft smile.
Mother: I'm pretty sure I can fulfil your desire.
Sapphire's eyes light up.
Sapphire: Really? (child)
She sees a small glass box with a hole on top.
Sapphire takes a gold coin out of her pocket and throws it.
It falls in, making a ting sound that rings all around.
Sapphire, now shocked, starts praying.
Once she stops, she smiles to herself.
Sapphire: I didn't change a bit... did I?
She starts crying but when she notices, she wipes the tears.
A few moments later.
She walks through the road, as more and more blurry figures fill her surroundings.
She stops in front of the house with half of the exterior destroyed.
Her mind starts to fill up the gaps as she sees a young Sapphire sitting on a dinner table, now flipped, with her mother.
A glass dome with a goldfish remained in the middle.
Sapphire takes out a box and starts to put some food on the tank.
Mother: Be careful. You might overfeed her.
Sapphire: Wouldn't she grow up faster if we feed her more? (young)
Her mother chuckles.
Mother: If we just feed her, she'll get fat.
The fish starts eating, as Sapphire looks at her do so.
Sapphire: Ok. Got it. (young)
Sapphire (IRL) looks up and notices a half destroyed tower, as more memories fill it up.
Sapphire, now a young-teen, leans against a window, holding a genie lamp.
Sapphire: Wonder what this'll do? (Young-teen)
She rubs the lamp but nothing happens, causing her to chuckle.
Sapphire: I have no idea what I was expecting. (Young-teen)
Suddenly, some energy gathers in front of her, and the water elemental appears.
Sapphire: Holy-(Young-teen)
She drops the lamp off the window.
Sapphire: Water elemental? (Young-teen)
Water elemental: Sapphire.
In real time, she walks up to the destroyed tower and starts to look around, but stops when seeing the lamp from earlier.
She gets to her knees, picking up the lamp and rubs it, nothing happens.
She glazes back at her house and sees a skeleton wearing the same clothes as her mother but more tore, taken over by time.
She just remains seated there, the ring in her hand reflecting the light of the sun, emitting a golden hue.
Meanwhile,
Ruby: Yeah. We really messed up.
Emerald: The thing is... all three of us, Pearl included, are just... bad at expressing how much she's meant to us.
Ruby: Wish we would've known sooner.
They walk through the once lively town.
Emerald: But to some degree, she's also the one at fault.
Ruby: How come?
Emerald: Hidden tears stab more than piercing daggers.
Ruby: Stop speaking like Pearl.
Emerald: Oh. I was?
Ruby: Wait.
They stand in front of the pond with the elemental statue, now in tip-top shape.
Ruby: She was here just a minute ago. Her aura's strong here.
Emerald nods with a serious expression.
A few moments later.
They walk through an alleyway, and as they are about to move, Ruby sees Sapphire, lying next to the skeleton, quietly weeping.
Emerald: I feel bad for Sapp-
Ruby covers Emerald's mouth and drags him back into the alleyway.
Ruby: Quiet down.
Her voice remained barely above a whisper.
Ruby: Do you not see her?
She points at the house with Sapphire.
Emerald: Ok. We found her. Now let's go.
Ruby: But is it the right time?
Emerald: Waiting for the right time might mean wasting the time given to us in the present.
Ruby: I said,' Stop acting like Pearl.'
Emerald: Well.
He sighs.
Emerald: You got this.
He pats her shoulder before getting swallowed by the ground.
Ruby: Wait!
She kicks the ground in frustration before releasing a sigh.
Ruby: Let's do this.
She walks up to Sapphire, zoning off, from the side.
Ruby: Hey. Sapphire.
Silence
Ruby: Sapphire.
Sapphire: Oh.
She breaks out of her dreams and flinches before turning to Ruby.
Sapphire: Ruby, it's you.
She wipes some tears off her face and gazes at a serious Ruby.
Sapphire: Sorry. I got distracted.
She starts giggling.
Sapphire: Well. Hopefully you three found something, cause I'm starving.
She gets up, clearing some dust from her clothes, and starts walking away.
Sapphire: Speaking of, where are Emerald and Pearl? Are they-
Suddenly, Ruby grabs Sapphire's hand and pulls her into a hug.
Sapphire: -What-What's going-?
Ruby: Hopefully I don't have to say this again.
Sapphire: What's wrong?
Ruby sighs before tightening her grip.
Ruby: If you're sad, then cry.
Sapphire, tears building up in her eyes, covers her face with her shoulder, clenching her back.
Sapphire: Why? Ruby, why?
Her voice barely above a whisper.
Sapphire: Why am I so weak?
Her voice is getting louder with every word.
Sapphire: Say, will saving the world make up for my past weaknesses?
Tears start rolling down her cheeks.
Sapphire: Will they forgive me if I breathe in a freed world?
Her ring clenches on to Ruby with dear life.
Sapphire: Hey Ruby, why am I so weak?
More and more tears fall out of her navy, glistering eyes.
Sapphire: What's even the point if they're already gone?
Ruby closes her eyes, stopping herself from tearing out.
Sapphire: Please tell me. I don't wanna lose anyone ever again!
She fully starts to break down into tears as more and more continue to come.
Sapphire: I WANNA BE STRONGER!!!
She continues to weep louder and louder.
Sapphire: I WANNA BE BETTER!!!
Her face, fully buried in Ruby's arms, turns fully red from tears.
Sapphire: Please. I wanna be-be stronger.
Ruby starts to gently stroke her hair.
Ruby: You are. You are no doubt the strongest one I know.
She looks at Sapphire's crying face.
Ruby: The only one I know who can keep something so deep.
A few moments later.
Ruby: What's wrong?
Emerald stands in front of a wall.
Emerald: Pearl.
He points at the wall.
Wall- I've detected some insects. Just gotta deal with them. Be back soon. -Pearl.
Sapphire: By insects does she mean-
The scene shifts to Pearl dodging a slash.
Pearl: Sonic slash.
She slashes the air and takes out a few opponents.
Dark personnel: Captain. Who is she? This one girl is taking down our entire army.
Dark captain: I'm not surprised.
Pearl claps, creating a shockwave that knocks many dark troops down.
Dark captain: Afterall... this is Pearl.
Dark personnel: Pearl?
He nods.
Dark captain: Pearl; The Storm slayer. The daughter of the wind general. The wind avatar... and the one individual... who's taken down more forces of the darkness then the rest of the world combined.
Pearl rips a soldier's blade before piercing him through his gut with it.
Dark captain: She can sense even the slightest disturbance or change in the surrounding air.
Suddenly, a dark energy ball is launched at Pearl, but she easily notices.
Dark captain: Not only that, she can reduce air friction to almost zero, allowing her to travel at speeds which break the sound barrier.
Suddenly, Pearl appears behind the attack.
Pearl: Vacuum rush.
She punches it back to the sender, killing a few other troops in the process.
Dark captain: This one girl holds the strongest natural weapon on this planet. She's weaponizing the invisible... into the invincible.
Dark user: Jump her. NOW!
All the dark troops jump her but she blasts them all outwards with winds strong enough to flatten trees.
More come to fight but she deflects and dodges all and every attack.
A dark spear is launched at her but is stopped due to the ground rising up.
All the troops are hit with a wave of the earth as the land opens up before Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire launch out.
Pearl: This was unnecessary. I could've dealt with them myself.
Emerald: We know.
Sapphire: Is it a crime to have a flashy entrance?
She smiles.
Sapphire: Get ready for an elemental beat down.
Pearl gives her a cringed glare.
Sapphire: What? We're elementals aren't we?
Ruby: Technically avatars.
Pearl: Why?
Sapphire: You're in our team, so I thought you should know.
Pearl: I refuse to indulge or partake in idiocy.
They all get in a battle pose.
Sapphire: Meh.
Ruby blasts outwards towards a few troops, and as she lands, so does an explosion.
Ruby: For some reason or another. I'm in a bad mood today.
Dark personnel: Captain. What do we do?
Dark captain: Regardless. Our fates have been sealed... so let's die fighting for our nation.
Ruby forms a ring of fire around her, right before blasting it outwards.
More troops charge but Emerald launches solid rocks at them. As the rocks land, the form chains from the ground, locking them on the ground.
Ruby: My kill.
She incinerates random troops as the scene shifts to Sapphire.
Sapphire: Having fun?
She blasts them away using water from the nearby ocean.
Sapphire: Perks of fighting near a fishermen town.
She freezes all the water.
With Emerald and her, they successfully trapped every troop.
*Bang*
Pearl: Air snipe.
*Bang*
One by one, all the dark forces start to fall.
Sapphire: Pearl wait. We need them for-
*Bang*
Just like that, the last one also falls.
Sapphire: -Information.
Pearl: That's the act of war. One of them.... survives... one of us... dies.
She starts to clean some dust off her clothes.
Pearl: Next time, come when I'm actually struggling.
Emerald: So never?
Pearl: Vacuum rush.
Pearl suddenly appears in front of the dark captain and punches him away using a vacuum rush.
*Boom*
He tries to get up but an air snipe to the head takes him down.
Pearl: No survivors.
Ruby slowly walks up to Sapphire.
Ruby: Hey. About earlier. I-
Sapphire: -I'm sorry.
She bows to her, her face tomato red.
Sapphire: Could we not talk about that?
Emerald: Well. All's well that ends well.
Pearl: Has it concluded?
She looks up to see a dark night sky, with a single star.
Emerald: Not really.
He also gazes at the hopeful night sky, pointing at the star.
Emerald: Isn't this the thing you mean? Hope, am I right?
Pearl just looks at him before continuing the gaze.
The next day.
All four of them are walking through a natural path carved through the mountain.
Sapphire: Hey, Ruby.
Sapphire and Ruby are walking shoulder to shoulder with Emerald and Pearl in front of them.
Ruby: Yeah. What's up-
Sapphire suddenly grabs Ruby's hand with her own, wearing the ring, as her face gets red.
Ruby also gets embarrassed, but let's go right before holding a lover's handheld.
They both quietly move forward.
Emerald slowly walks up to Pearl holding a map.
Emerald: They think we didn't notice.
Pearl: I don't understand why you seek conversation. Specifically with me.
Emerald: Always so cold aren't we?
Pearl glares at him.
Emerald: Even without. I don't wanna be the third wheel. Plus you're fun to talk to.
Pearl: (He enjoys holding conversations with the likes of me?)
Pearl: Well, doesn't change the fact that your attempts at a closer bond have no transgressions or merits.
Emerald: They do... for me at least.
He smiles.
Emerald: And I know deep down, they mean a lot to you too.
Pearl: Perhaps they do, but I can't show weakness. Fragility is a luxury warriors lose.
Emerald: Well. You're not just a warrior, you're my friend.
Pearl: Your persistence is... unmoved; similar to that of Sapphire.
He remembers their cave meeting and smiles.
Emerald: Maybe it is.
He turns to Pearl.
Emerald: But we also aren't so different, are we?
Pearl: Elaborate.
Emerald: Both of us left when we had to confront Sapphire.
Pearl: I left because I couldn't care any less.
Emerald: You do care tho.
Suddenly a vacuum chamber surrounds his head, stopping him from breathing.
Pearl: You're being too loud.
She lets go.
Pearl: Next time I'll not let go.
A few hours later.
Sapphire: Here we are.
She takes a deep breath at the small camp with pagoda style bases.
Sapphire: The wind base.
Ruby: You've never been here, have you?
Emerald shakes his head.
Pearl: The dark forces can arrive in any second. We must not stop.
Emerald: So this is where Pearl is from.
A few moments later.
General: Glad to have you back soldier.
Sapphire: Sir.
She salutes him.
General: We got the news about the earth-uses.
Ruby: If this keeps up, we won't stand a chance against the entire dark force. What can we do?
General: I know a specific ritual... which can awaken one's potential.
Emerald: Plus we have a plan... Sapphire's plan.
He looks at Sapphire who nods.
He starts walking away.
General: Avatars. Follow me.
Meanwhile,
The air users look at an army of dark users being charged by Raven.
Raven: Long lived your empire. Now, welcome our dominion.
Air user: Here it goes.
Air user: Shall armageddon end how it began.
Air user: Sorry to kill the mood, but we're cooked.
All the dark forces charge but stop to look up at the sky, where Ruby and Pearl fly.
Ruby: Here goes nothing.
She surrounds the both of them using her fire as Pearl blasts it outwards, making a temporary artificial sun, causing it to rain fireballs and air slashes.
Splitting the ground beneath, arise Sapphire and Emerald.
Sapphire: Remember when I asked you to show me a display of your powers? Guess you never did.
Emerald: Oh yeah.
He hits himself on the head.
Emerald: I forgot.
Sapphire: Show me afterwards... ok?
Emerald: Got it.
Emerald jumps up into the air and land in the middle of the battlefield.
As his feet land, the ground gets split into countless 50 cm cubes and blast out like a wake with Emerald being the point of origin.
Sapphire: perfect.
Through all the cracks on the ground, water starts to blast out right before turning into ice spikes to rain down.
The air users also join the battlefield, taking down the dark forces one by one.
Pearl grabs Ruby's hand as Ruby's other one prepares a fireball and starts spinning Ruby around, forming a fire tornado.
From the tornado, countless air slashes infused with fire blast out.
Emerald buries his hand on the ground, and suddenly an entire volcano erupts. The lava surrounds his body, forming a destructive armor.
Raven: What do we do?
Darkness: Get the water girl.
Raven: Got in.
He dashes through the chaos towards Sapphire who blocks his punch using her ice.
He turns into dark energy and does the same to her back but she again blocks.
Emerald forms two giant floating disks of lava and launches it at Raven who destroys it with a single punch.
Sapphire stabs him through the stomach with her ice spike.
Raven: (How is she able to use her powers so fast?)
More and more ice spikes thrust his body but she blasts them out with a single energy output.
Ruby suddenly appears behind him and incinerates him, leaving fourth degree burns everywhere.
He blasts a dark bomb towards Sapphire who blocks it using a wall of ice.
As the ice shatters, Sapphire wraps his leg with a water whip.
He punches Ruby away, but falls due to the whip.
Pearl: Air snipe.
A small bullet forged from wind hits his skull.
Ruby: Great.
He turns into the form of dark energy and appears behind Sapphire.
Darkness: The stronger the will, the more fun it is to destroy.
Raven grabs Sapphire by the neck and gives her friends a demonic glare.
Raven: A minor inconvenience won't change anything.
He blasts up, still holding Sapphire.
Ruby: SAPPHIRE!!!
She blasts after him as Pearl soon follows.
Raven: It's worthless.
Sapphire: Let me go!!!
She tries to hit him but to no avail.
Raven: Your un-cooperativeness only delays what's inevitable.
Ruby: Let her go, you freak!
She launches a fireball but it misses.
Pearl: He's heading to outer space. The only place where our powers don't work.
He reaches the stratosphere.
Raven: Here comes.
Ruby's fire starts to flicker.
Pearl: We need to return.
Raven blasts Sapphire to outer space before himself blasting down.
He does a peace sign to the avatars.
Ruby continues flying up but stops as Pearl grabs her hand, stopping her.
Pearl: STOP!!! I CAN'T LOSE YOU TOO!!!
Ruby, now enraged, looks back.
Ruby: WHY!!! NOT LIKE YOU CARE.
She looks back to see Pearl in tears.
Pearl covers her face and starts weeping.
Pearl: I do care. I do care. Probably the reason it hurts so much.
Ruby: Oh. Oh.
Pearl: Please. Don't go.
Raven blasts down onto the battlefield.
Raven: Retreat.
All the dark forces, Raven included, turn to energy and fly away as Emerald gets to his knees, panting.
Ruby and Pearl also land with a defeated face.
Emerald runs towards them, still panting.
Emerald: Where-Where's Sapphire?
Ruby just shakes her head as Pearl looks devastated.
Emerald: No-No. You-You're lying. YOU'RE LYING!!!
Pearl: Wish that was true.
Emerald gets to his knees and starts crying.
Meanwhile, in space.
Sapphire's body floats around the vacuum of space as a pair of eyes appear.
Darkness: Look at you... how pathetic.
Suddenly, her whole body gets surrounded by darkness as a shadow wraps around her soul and her now purple eyes glare open.
Emerald: And you just left her to die?
Ruby: Wish I could say n-
Pearl: What's wrong?
Ruby: That-That aura. It's... It's... Demonic.
*Boom*
An entity fully surrounded in darkness with a purple aura crashes down on the surface.
Emerald: Sa-Sapphire?
Darkness: Sapphire? Who's Sapphire?
Ruby, Emerald and Pearl watch in horror, seeing the distant cosmic entity.
Darkness: Was she disposed of by me? Or used?
Emerald: You-you-
He launches a rock at it, but sees Sapphire's face on it, forcing him to split the rock in half.
Darkness: Love... the biggest weakness one welds.
Narrator: I must ask; what do you think happens... when a god meets true darkness?
Darkness: The era of the god is over... Now, make room for the era of darkness.
Narration: The answer... is right in front of you.
Darkness: Shall the heavens itself shake beneath my roar.
Raven watches from a distance with a serious look.
Pearl: (Why? Why? What's wrong? You've ended many of your former companions who joined the dark side... what's so different now?)
Her hands start shaking... She's paralyzed.
In her mind:-
Pearl: Idiotic act.
Sapphire, covered in mud, starts laughing.
Sapphire: It's good to have fun sometimes y'know.
Pearl: I assume you're referring to acts of entertainment. In that case, I find that a waste of time.
Sapphire smiles.
Sapphire: Well, breaks every now and then help in clearing our mind and support good mental health.
Pearl: Point taken.
Sapphire: Then join me.
Pearl: No.
Sapphire starts giggling.
Present day.
Pearl: (This-This is ridiculous. I have known her for less than a month. She's nothing but a fellow warrior to me. She must be.)
Ruby stares at the figure using eyes filled with terror.
Ruby: Sapphire-Sapphire-Sapphire-Sapphire-
Her voice, hardly above her breath.
In her mind:-
Sapphire and Ruby are walking through a forest.
Sapphire: You should learn how to cook.
Ruby: And threaten being a stay-at-home wife? No, thank you.
Sapphire: That too, but also as a general skill. It's just a convenient thing to know.
Ruby: I'll do it when this war ends.
Sapphire: So never?
Ruby: What?
Sapphire rests her head in front of her hands, cross fingered behind her hair, gazing at the clouds flying above.
Sapphire: Conflict. It'll end when there's only a single soul left here.
Ruby: Yeah. I guess.
Sapphire smiles but suddenly trips off a rock, landing on the ground.
Sapphire: Ouch.
Ruby: Walk straight.
Sapphire: Right now? Or 5 seconds ago?
Present day.
Ruby's lip movements barely scratch the air around.
Emerald: BRING SAPPHIRE BACK YOU FREAK!!!
It grins.
Darkness: Okeee.
It falls inside Sapphire's mouth, bringing her back.
As she starts panting and looking around, she grabs her head in pain.
Sapphire: GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
She again starts to get surrounded by darkness.
Darkness: You'll not find many as giving as me.
It takes the ring off its hands.
It throws it towards Emerald who's about to catch it, but he launches an energy attack, destroying it mid-flight.
Darkness: Opps. Hehe.
Emerald starts panting, as tears start to roll out.
Darkness: Well. You were amusing... but no-one enjoys a broken toy.
He falls to his knees.
In his mind:
Emerald: So... how long do you plan to hide it?
The two of them are in a dark forest, collecting firewood.
Sapphire: Hide what?
Emerald: The tears.
Sapphire: What tears?
Emerald: Don't act dumb.
Sapphire: Well... you're the one holding the false brave mask.
Emerald: Wha-What?
She lends him her pinky.
Sapphire: Please. They need me... us.
He follows her pinky with his own.
In the present time.
Emerald: You... YOU MONSTER!!!
Darkness: Thank you.
It starts to fly.
Darkness: But I must go. Have fun.
It vanishes out of thin air as Raven also follows.
Emerald starts to run after them but Pearl stops him.
Pearl: Stop. If we enter the darkness's layer, we're dead meat.
He tries to push her away but she doesn't budge.
Emerald: SO WHAT'RE WE SUPPOSED TO DO!?!
Pearl: I... don't know.
Emerald: YOU EXPECT ME TO STAY HERE, WHEN MY FRIEND'S IN DANGER!!!
Pearl: Mrs Sapphire wouldn't want this. She'd want us to tackle this properly.
Emerald: WELL, IT DOESN'T MATTER! I'M NOT GONNA SIT AROUND DOING NOTHING.
Ruby gets to her knees and starts quietly sobbing.
Emerald: SHE'S THE ONLY ONE I HAVE LEFT! I'M NOT LOSING HER!!!
Pearl: You're starting to lose yourself. Going to enemy territory is practically a death wish.
Emerald: EITHER I BRING HER BACK!!! OR I DIE TRYING!!!
Pearl: Try to understand.
Emerald: Yeah? You don't care... Do you?... You never did.
Pearl: What?
Emerald: You don't care about her... and you clearly don't care about me, cause if you did, we'd be out there, fighting.
Pearl: I do care.
Emerald: Then why are we STILL HERE!!!
He blasts her back using his earth powers.
Emerald: Please... leave me alone.
He sinks in the ground.
Pearl: (Dear diary. It's been about a week since Mrs Sapphire's... corruption. We haven't seen Mr Emerald since.)
The scene shifts to Emerald waking through a forest.
Pearl: (We are unaware whether he's alive or dead. Two days ago, the wind base was attacked again by the dark forces. We were helpless and forced to flee... Me and Mrs Ruby escaped, the other souls... weren't so lucky.)
Her pen glides through the paper, stopping after each sentence.
Pearl: (Speaking off, Mrs Ruby hasn't spoken a single word since. Well, it's not all bad; I've been reading some ancient texts lately, and I just learned that to balance the darkness, we need light; Buddha. So, today we embark on a journey... to the west, where Buddha's shrine resides. That's all for today. Signing off.)
She closes her diary and puts the pen down before turning back to see Ruby sleeping with tears in her eyes and tear marks, filling her cheeks.
She slowly walks up to Ruby and starts patting her head.
Pearl: Wish your dreams at least find you joy.
She glances over at a photo. In the photo, Sapphire hugged Ruby and Emerald while doing a peace sign with both her hands, as Pearl stood close.
Pearl picks up the photo and traces her body.
Pearl: Man I regret not getting to know you better.
She starts shaking her head.
Pearl: No. Remain strong.
She slaps herself across the face before releasing a sigh.
Pearl: (I need a break.)
She goes to the room next door. Once she looks in a mirror, she washes her face with water.
Pearl: Why am I like this?
The next day.
Pearl: Thank you for letting us stay here.
She bows to a woman.
Woman: Oh. Don't worry. You kids must be having a hard time.
Pearl nods before grabbing Ruby's hand and dragging her away.
Pearl: (The shrine should be a day's walk from here.)
She looks at Ruby, utterly shattered, staring into nothingness.
Pearl: Hey, Mrs Ruby. Want anything to eat?
Ruby doesn't respond. Just silence.
Pearl: My treat?
Still no response.
Pearl sighs.
Pearl: (Why is this so hard? How could she do it so effortlessly?)
They continue walking.
Pearl: (I never realized how... how dysfunctional our team was without her.)
Meanwhile, in Sapphire's head.
Sapphire is curled up into a ball, in a corner, surrounded by darkness.
She looks forwards and sees multiple images of her mother.
Slowly, the image's face gets blurrier and blurrier until it's unrecognizable.
Sapphire: Mom?
It slowly fades into the shadow as Sapphire raises her hand, trying to grasp it.
She stops after noticing her leg chained up to the wall, using a chain formed from a black energy and shattered pieces of her ring.
She closes her arm, and puts it next to her heart, allowing a tear drop to fall.
Pearl and Ruby are walking through a forest on top of a path.
Pearl is holding Ruby's hand, dragging her along, yet she doesn't resist nor fight back.
Pearl suddenly turns around, launching a sonic slash at a bird, causing it to hit a tree and fall down.
She, gasping for air, gets shocked at the sight.
Pearl: Oh no.
She covers her face before running towards the bird and kneeling down.
Pearl: I'm sorry.
She tears a piece of her cloth, at the same area where she treated Ruby, and wraps it around the bird's wing.
She slowly pets the bird, staring off to nothing.
Pearl: (Is this really me?)
She snaps back and bows to the bird.
Pearl: My apologies.
She carries the bird in her hands and raises her hands as the bird runs away.
Ruby's mind:
From behind the bushes, a girl with orange hair, scarlet eyes mirroring that of Ruby and a pointy tooth on the upper teeth sticking out, comes out, smiling.
Ruxli: Sis look.
She shows Ruby a worm.
Ruby: What's that?
Ruxli: A worm. I just dug it.
Ruby: Great.
She starts to pat her head and left ear.
Ruxli: You think this will help.
She shows her the worm and her mud filled hands.
Ruby: Of course. Let's go add it to the compost box.
Ruxli: Yay.
They, from the forest, start moving towards the village.
Outside her mind:
Pearl is dragging Ruby through a path crossing the forest floor.
Pearl: (It should've been me.)
She sighs as they stop in front of a destroyed village.
Pearl: It appears the dark forces have once again got here before us.
She shakes her head in disappointment and starts walking away, but suddenly stops as Ruby doesn't move.
Pearl: Mrs. Ruby. We need to keep-
She stops at seeing Ruby staring at the village, her breath shaking.
Ruby: They-They're all dead.
Pearl looks at her in shock as Ruby falls to her knees.
Ruby: They're dead.
Pearl: Mrs. Ruby, is this your home village?
Ruby suddenly breaks free from Pearl's grip before dashing into the village.
Pearl: Wait-
She runs a few steps after her, but stops, hands falling down.
Pearl: Here I go again.
She looks down.
Pearl: Why though?
She blasts off up in the air, using her air powers.
Ruby runs through the destroyed village as her memories come flooding back in.
Ruby(Memory): Wait up.
Ruxli: Here.
She, giggling, runs towards the markets as Ruby follows.
The memory fades and Ruby also runs through.
She makes it to a row of houses.
Ruxli: Trick or treat?
She's holding a basket, in front of an open door.
Lady: Here you go.
She drops some candy on the basket.
Ruxli: Than-
*SLAM*
Ruby slams the door open, breaking the flashback to find nothing.
Ruxli: Trick or treat?
She's in front of another house, doing the same.
Man: Here you go.
Ruxli: Than-
*SLAM*
*Nothing*
Ruxli: Trick or treat?
The lad gives her a big bar of candy.
Lad: You wanted it right?
*SLAM*
*Nothing*
Ruxli: Trick or treat?
Person: Stay healthy.
He gives her a green apple.
*SLAM*
*Nothing*
Ruxli: Trick or treat?
Individual: Trick.
Ruxli: What?
Individual: I pick trick-
*SLAM*
*Nothing*
She runs through the central area of the village, around a statue of a genie, similar to the water elemental, but with fire on the head instead of the water drop. (Fire elemental)
Ruby: (Please. Please. Please.)
Ruby(Memory) is leaning against a pillar as Ruxli comes running at her with two corn dogs.
Out of the illusion.
She, while taking a sharp turn, falls on top of a half destroyed market stall, but gets right back up before continuing her run.
She makes it to a giant half destroyed mansion, panting for air as Pearl watches from the roof of a distant building.
She looks at the small wooden pillar supporting the gazebo in front of their door, and notices a handkerchief with a checker board pattern of red and orange, tied to it.
It suddenly triggers a flashback.
Ruxli: So you're going?
Ruby, with her bags packed nods.
Ruby: Yep. I've been chosen as the fire avatar. The world needs me.
Ruxli: But-But-
She hugs Ruby tightly.
Ruxli: But I need you too. If you go, I'll be lonely.
Ruby gently hugs her with a soft smile.
Ruby: You won't. Mr. Frog and the mango tree will keep you company.
She takes out the same handkerchief and ties it around the pillar, like in the present time.
Ruby: Plus. We'll meet again.
She gets to her knees and wipes Ruxli's tears.
Ruby: And that time may come sooner than you think.
The flashback ends as Ruby is now in their family backyard.
Ruby: No.
Pearl: Wish Mrs. Sapphire was here.
She sighs before putting her hand near her heart.
Pearl: She'd know what to do.
Ruby starts to look around and sees a paper frog near a pond on top of a rock, and it triggers another flashback.
Ruby: And the inside needs to be yellow.
She shows Ruxli a picture of a ripe mango in a book.
Ruby: Like this.
She notices Ruxli folding paper.
Ruby: Were you paying attention to anything I said?
Ruxli: Check this out.
She shows Ruby a Paper frog.
Ruby: What's this?
Ruxli: Meet Mr. Frog. My new best friend.
Ruby: What?
She gets a shocked expression before pointing to herself.
Ruby: What about me?
Ruxli starts giggling.
The flashback ends as Ruby continues to scan her backyard.
Her gaze is suddenly stolen by a small plant, about two feet in height, and it triggers another flashback.
Ruxli: Woah. So If I plant this, I'll get to eat unlimited mangoes?
She points at the mango seed on her hand.
Ruby: Yep.
She nods.
Ruxli: Then what're we waiting for?
She starts running towards a corner to plant the seed.
Ruby: Wait. You need to plant it in a good spot.
The flashback ends as Ruby, now with eye bags and tears, stands in front of the statue of the fire elemental.
Ruby: Everything.
Her scarlet eyes glare at the statue.
Ruby: I lost everything.
Her hands and aura both ignite into flames.
Ruby: FIGHTING FOR YOU!!!
Suddenly, the scene cuts to a Ruby, panting in front of a destroyed Fire elemental statue with her now demonic eyes.
She suddenly gets to her knees, before starting to cry.
Raven, watching from through the mist, groans.
Raven: Do I really have to do this?
Ruby looks to her side and sees a bench when Ruxli(From her memories) jumps up from behind the seat and sits there with a smile.
*BOOM*
Ruby destroys the bench with tears in her eyes.
Suddenly, Raven blasts down behind her, leveling surrounding buildings.
Raven: Ruby? Am I right?
Ruby: Where's she?
Raven gazes at Ruby's back with an almost scared expression as Ruby's aura burns brighter than the sun.
Ruby: Where's she?
Her breath, stoic but also near demonic. Her eyes, burning a scarlet glare.
Raven: Where's who?
Ruby: Answer me straight.
She gets up to her legs, her back still turned.
Ruby: WHERE… IS… SAPPHIRE?!?!?!
Her aura blasts outwards, starting wildfires with her presence alone, making Raven take a step back.
Meanwhile, Pearl's running towards them, following the flare from the other side of the city.
Pearl: (This isn't good.)
Suddenly, Raven gets punched to the other side of the city. As he gets his footing back, Ruby launches a few hundred fire balls.
He dodges a few but more and more keep on coming.
He blasts out his aura but Ruby destroys it with her own before appearing right behind him, blasting a beam of fire, radiating blue.
Raven hits a building, and then another, and another; destroying 5 buildings before standing back up.
Pearl: Storm shifter.
An entire storm cloud falls on top of Raven right before it fully engites into flames.
Ruby: I'll not ask this again.
Her bloodshot eyes, filled with tears glow a deathfilled red.
Ruby: WHERE-
She blasts him up in the sky.
Ruby: IS-
She suddenly appears in front of him, right before blasting an endless beam of fire through his gut.
Ruby: SAPPHIRE!?!
She hits his back using her knee as Raven spits out blood.
Raven: (So this is the power… of the burning demon.)
Pearl: Air snipe.
A blast of air pierces his arm as he falls down.
Ruby grabs his shoulder, headbutting him, before blasting down with him.
Raven and Ruby land as Ruby breathes a beam of fire from her face at point blank range.
Raven suddenly blasts an energy ball at her gut but she remains unphased.
Pearl: Sonic slash.
An air slash splits them up, right as a vacuum ball hits his face, causing him to fall down.
Raven: DARKNESS!!!
He suddenly unleashes a storm of dark energy, leveling the entire city and blasting Pearl back, hitting her body to a tree.
Pearl: (When did I get such weakness?)
Through the rubble, Ruby emerges, her face starting to melt.
Raven: You dare… challenge the dark side?
Ruby suddenly launches herself towards him, and tries to punch him on the face but he blocks it using a dark blade.
Narrator: This must be… the flames of hell… reaching the fury of the gods.
He blasts her back but she charges right back, this time on all fours.
He launches countless dark blades at her, but she simply dodges them before blasting his face with a point blank fire ball.
As she's about to hit him with another, he turns into a form of dark energy, appearing behind her.
He suddenly slashes her back, right before chopping her arm off.
As she falls down, he gets hit on the face with an air slash.
As another is about to hit him, she moves his head, glaring at Pearl.
He suddenly appears in front of her, grabbing her with the neck.
Raven: Even gods have their limits.
He prepares his dark blade.
Raven: You're merely just a mortal.
Pearl: Indeed. So are you.
Raven looks at her with a confused expression.
Pearl: And mortals are victims.
She slices his wrist and arm off, using a sonic slash.
Pearl: Victims… of mortality.
Raven: This freak.
He kicks her back before grabbing his arm in pain.
Pearl slowly gets up, wiping some blood off her mouth.
Pearl: Aren't they?
Raven suddenly kicks her on the back, before towering over her.
Meanwhile, Ruby tries to lift her arm but to no avail.
In her mind:
Ruby: No.
Ruby: No.
Ruby: No.
She punches the ground in anger.
Ruby: Not again.
Suddenly, two warm hands meet her cheeks.
Ruxli: Hey sis.
She looks up to see an afterimage of Ruxli bent, smiling at her.
Ruxli: You said we'd meet again. Do you really wanna come with bad news?
She turns around and points up, gazing upon countless fully transparent and shining glass fish scoring the sky.
Ruxli turns back and smiles through her one spiked tooth.
Ruxli: I'll be waiting.
As the images fade away, she sees Raven charging an energy beam at Pearl's face while his leg rests on her stomach.
She starts to look around, locking her gaze at Raven's chopped hand with the dark energy blade.
Raven: It's over.
Pearl starts panting, yet doesn't show a spec of fear.
Raven: Any last-
Suddenly, Ruby stabs him through the heart using his own blade, causing him to fall to his knees.
*TING*
He looks up and sees a golden light as tears roll through his smile.
Raven: I hear the bell.
He widens his arms, smiling as his body starts to fade away.
As Ruby also collapses to her knees in exhaustion, the sun rises behind her, lighting the battlefield.
She lies down as Pearl, with tears bottling up, holds Ruby's hand, hiding her face in her stomach.
Pearl: No. Please no. Not you too.
Tears start to roll down her cheeks as Ruby slowly pats her head.
Ruby: It's ok.
Pearl, crying, looks at Ruby smiling.
Ruby: Sapphire would've said, 'It's not healthy to bottle them all in.
Pearl fully breaks down into tears, face fully wet with tears, her cries echoing around the battlefield.
Ruby: One last thing.
She also starts to fade away, starting from the face.
Ruby: Could you… thank Sapphire… for being in my life.
She notices the fading getting faster.
Ruby: Oh yeah. Pearl… Thank you… for everything.
She fully fades into dust, ending with the hand holding Pearl.
One week later.
Pearl: (I… am Pearl.)
She stands on top of a giant pine tree, blowing her whistle.
Pearl: (The air avatar chosen to put an eternal end to the darkness… with my… companions. Mrs Ruby, Mrs Sapphire and Mr Emerald. To put it simply, Mrs Ruby and Mrs Sapphire annoyed me. All well, two less for me to worry about.)
Pearl quietly shakes her head.
Pearl: (Mr Emerald annoys me too.)
She starts rubbing her hand before covering her head with her hood.
Pearl: (Yet… I hope he stays a bit longer. Regardless, I've witnessed countless slaughter and gruesome scenes across the span of the past week. And, I noticed a prevalent act; every time an individual dies either due to the dark forces or of the dark forces, they pulverise into dust and fly towards the darkness's domain.)
Ink splatters on the screen and we see Pearl writing her diary.
Pearl: (There remains an obvious explanation… and the correct one at best. Must I add, I'm going to Buddha's shrine to light up the darkness… and maybe find my frie- friend? Work partner, Mr Emerald.)
She continues to write.
Pearl: (Guess till then, I'll remain the girl who's too serious all the time, the girl who's nothing but selfish, the girl without emotions… and the girl who believes something an idiot told her. That sounded profoundly astonishing. Signing off.)
The next day.
Pearl is walking through a path carved through a mountain.
Pearl: (Man. I forgot how quiet it was to travel alone.)
Her face remained expressionless.
Pearl: I don't think I like it.
Meanwhile in the layer of the darkness
Darkness: Is it not fun to play with me?
Dark troop: No-No it is.
Darkness: Then let's play.
It ribs the troop's heart out as the whole body starts to fade.
It turns to face the other troops.
Darkness: Maybe I was too harsh. All well.
It gives them a demonic smile.
Darkness: Fail, and you'll get to play with me too.
In its mind:
Sapphire is trying to break the chain but fails.
She looks at it and punches it in anger, causing it to break.
Sapphire: It-It broke.
She looks at the other side of the room to see a white light.
Sapphire: There.
She starts running but suddenly falls down. She turns back to see an arm of darkness grabbing her leg, pulling her back.
Sapphire: No.
She starts to crawl towards the light on four legs, but more and more arms start to pull her back.
Voices: Give up.
Voices: It's too late.
Voices: You couldn't save them.
Voices: Going out would do more harm than good.
She slowly starts to get surrounded by darkness as tears start to roll in.
Sapphire: Stop. Please. Stop.
The light in the distance slowly starts to fade away.
Sapphire: No no. Stop.
Her arm tries to reach out but fails, fully gets surrounded by darkness as she starts to break down into tears.
Sapphire: I couldn't save them. I can't even control my own body. I can't do anything. Why have I been trying to be someone so different?
Tears continue the descent when suddenly, a sushi held using a pair of chopsticks hits her mouth, revitalizing all the dark arms.
She looks up to see a child Sapphire smiling.
She wipes Sapphire's tears away and lets the sushi go, hanging it on her mouth.
Sapphire(child): There. There. Don't cry.
Sapphire looks away, sniffling her face.
Sapphire: You're right. It's a sign of weakness.
Sapphire(Child): No.Because these tears.
She looks at Sapphire's face.
Sapphire(Child): Come with hopelessness.
Her face remains cheerful as ever as she starts to do small braids on Sapphire's hair.
Sapphire(Child): And you're not hopeless are you? You're Sapphire. The most of hope there ever was.
Sapphire's tears start pouring out again as she covers her face on Sapphire(Child)'s lap.
Sapphire: I'm sorry.
She speaks through her tears.
Sapphire: I'm sorry.
Sapphire(Child): Looks.
She points at the dark sky above as stars start to reveal themselves.
Sapphire(Child): Isn't it beautiful?
Fire flies start to fill the atmosphere, lighting the darkness.
As Sapphire looks up, an aurora veil forms from one end of the horizon to the other, slowly fading into a waterfall, whose noises fill the silence.
Sapphire(Child): The dark isn't as scary now, is it?
Sapphire looks at the child version of herself smiling.
Sapphire(Child): Live on. For me… For us.
The darkness fades away, revealing a few dozen people with the water symbol from her village.
Sapphire(Child): All of us.
Sapphire wipes her tears before standing up, hand near her heart.
Sapphire: I will.
She smiles at her child version as they all fade away.
Meanwhile,
Emerald is sitting on a branch of a tree, just staring at leaves falling down.
Suddenly, an imaginary version of Sapphire appears sitting next to him.
Sapphire: What chu doin'?
Emerald: Why do you care?
Sapphire: Ouch rude.
Emerald: Go away. You-you're just a figment of my imagination.
Sapphire: Then stop imagining me. Easy.
Emerald: I can't. It's not that simple.
Sapphire: Regardless, how's your day been so far?
Emerald: Terrible.
Sapphire: Y'know, you promised to show me your powers at a full display.
Emerald, for the first time in this conversation, looks at her smiling face as the background turns yellow.
Sapphire: You don't strike me as a person to break promises.
Emerald: Really? I don't?
She gets up before jumping to a branch of another tree.
Sapphire: Nope. You feel like you'd evade taxes.
He starts smiling.
Emerald: What are you talking-
The background goes back to normal and he notices a tear falling down his cheek, breaking the smile.
Emerald: About?
The scene cuts.
Pearl: Here we are.
She looks up at a giant tree with a reddish brown trunk and golden viney leaves, similar to that of a weeping willow tree.
Pearl: Buddha's birthplace.
She walks inside the roots of the tree, revealing a naturally hollowed inside.
Pearl: (This must be it.)
Pearl looks around, but her gaze is stolen by a small golden totem floating in the middle.
She observes it for a while before grabs it, causing her soul to be transported to a realm fully made up of light.
She looks around and sees many golden rings, halos, chains and other spiked objects filling the void of clouds.
Pearl: (Where am-)
Buddha: Welcome… Pearl.
Meanwhile,
Emerald is running through the forest towards the horizon, chasing the sunset.
Through his heavy breaths, he grunts.
Emerald: (Where am I going?)
He continues running.
Emerald: (I don't wanna stop… I don't wanna let go.)
He crosses the forest to a beautiful field of flowers.
Emerald: (Why?... Why am I running?)
His sweat leaves a trail on every step.
Emerald: (I want to live longer. With you.)
Sapphire: Really? That's sweet.
Emerald: Why're you here?
Sapphire smiles.
Sapphire: Just checking up on a pal of mine.
Emerald: May I ask who?
Sapphire: You dummy.
Emerald: Why?
Sapphire: Just hopeful that we're still friends.
Emerald: (Hope huh?)
He scoffs while still chasing the dawn.
Emerald: (Why did you do this?)
Emerald: Sapphire.
He starts gasping for air, chest puffing up and down, yet not slowing his run.
Emerald: (How long… Can I resist the night?)
Sapphire: Y'know, no matter how fast you run, the night will catch up.
Emerald: Then what do I do? Give up?
Sapphire: No. I want you to face the night.
Sapphire smiles before leaning on his back as he stands to watch the sunset.
Sapphire: With me.
Buddha: Pearl. Welcome… to the realm of light.
A voice comes from a light.
Pearl: B-Buddha! Give me the strength to take down the darkness!
Buddha: I don't need to… You already have it.
Pearl: What?
Buddha: Guess it wouldn't hurt if I helped… a little.
Suddenly, the clouds fuse together to forge a fully metal single edge halberd holding a spike curved down, the blade and the serpent with tails on both sides wrapped around the black shaft like pole being a silver hue. The blade is shaped at a curve facing outwards and a silver glave at the tip of the pole facing front with a curved blade, having spikes behind the flat end like dragon's back on the tip of the blade and a flat bottom.
It falls down and Pearl grabs it.
Pearl: What's this?
Buddha: A-A weapon.
Pearl: Then, must I leave.
Buddha: Not yet… I know something's bothering you.
Pearl: It's… irrelevant.
Buddha: If it is, why don't you let it go?
Pearl: Wish I could.
Buddha: But you can't… because they're important… to you.
She grabs her other hand.
Pearl: What… is the price... of love?
Buddha chuckles a little.
Buddha: The price of love? Everything.
She gives him a confused look.
Buddha: It costs you everything.
Pearl: Then why do people still love?
Buddha: Why do you fight?
Pearl: Because there's something worth fighting for.
Buddha: Exactly. The reason we love… is because there's something worth loving.
Pearl: Is that it?
Buddha: You know why I light up the world for you?
Pearl: Because you must.
Buddha: No. I keep you... and life stable… because of love. It costs me everything… but still it's worth it. It always is.
Pearl: So, why's the darkness so hellbent on the absolute end?
Buddha: The darkness… wants complete dominion over both light and darkness.
Pearl: But why?
Buddha: It wants to paint itself as a hero. The one who united opposing forces in the universe.
Pearl: And that requires taking down millions.
Buddha: Unfortunately yes. But, you're going to stop him… right?
Pearl: Indeed.
She looks around before getting to her knees to bow down.
Pearl: Must I ask permission to leave
Buddha: Live on.
The screen flashes with light, cutting back to the tree.
Dark general: CHARGE!!!
She comes out to see an entire army, consisting of thousands of dark troops.
Narrator: And between all the demons… landed a god.
Darkness in Sapphire's body landed, smiling as demonic as ever.
Darkness: Hello again… Pearl.
Narrator: No… landed… the devil.
Pearl: I recommend you hand Sapphire over… the easy way.
Darkness: Okeee~
It starts to giggle.
Darkness: After the toy breaks.
Pearl: Mark my words. This isn't a threat… It's a promise.
Dark general: One soul… against an entire army.
He opens his arms, presenting the entire dark force.
Emerald: Make that two.
The entire battlefield starts to quake as the ground breaks, Emerald rises, glaring at the entire army before glancing back at Pearl.
Emerald: I'm sorry for my… ignorance.
Pearl: You-You're back.
He smiles before landing next to her.
Emerald: We're the elementals. We gotta stick together.
Pearl: God. Sapphire called us that.
Emerald: What? Y'missed me?
She sighs
Pearl: Just glad to see you alive and intellectual enough to know the difference between bravery and idiocy.
The two of them look at the entire army.
Emerald: Here we go.
Pearl: Us two… fighting as the world rests on our shoulders? How clishé.
Emerald: One last big battle.
Pearl: Yet… I wouldn't have it any other way.
She smiles; an act Emerald notices before smiling himself.
Emerald looks up and sees storm clouds forming, forging some amount of thunder.
Pearl runs forward to the charging army with her axe, before slamming it to the ground, causing her to blast up.
She starts to fall down, slamming her helberd to the ground, blasting the entire army back using a shockwave.
Emerald rises an entire mountain from the ground, before compressing many layers of dirt to form balls which roll down.
More troops charge at Pearl, but in return, Pearl starts to spin around, using her body as the fulcrum, forming a massive tornado.
The mountain suddenly erupts, blasting lava everywhere as all the dark soldiers start to run for their lives.
From the tornado, countless air slashes blast out, destroying everything in sight.
As the storm settles, Pearl glares through the mist with her luminescent eyes, dozens of meters off the ground.
Emerald suddenly breaks open the mountain, causing lava to rain and flood half the battlefield.
Dark general: Sir. What now?
Darkness and the Dark general are watching from atop a hill as the sky roars the roar of thunder.
Darkness: You should go play too.
Dark general: M-me?
Darkness: Sounds fun… doesn't it?
It gives him a demonic smile.
Dark general: Indeed.
He gets to his knees.
Dark general: How thoughtful of you.
His red eyes glare at the battlefield, right before it blasts at Pearl with a dark blade.
Suddenly, Pearl blocks it using her helberd right before responding with a parry using the glaive.
She uses the pole part to launch him back, as she slams the ground, blasting a shockwave at him.
It hits him, but as the dust settles, he's nowhere to be found.
Following that, he dashes towards her with his dark blade, but as the attack is about to land, an earth wall stops it.
It suddenly falls on top of him, which he destroys effortlessly.
Pearl tries to slam her axe on top of him, but he blacks it using his blade.
Suddenly, Pearl vanishes into the mist, appearing behind him to attack him from the bottom angle but he still blocks.
She instantly hooks his blade, pushing it aside.
Suddenly, with intention to attack from the curved spike behind the axe, she pulls her axe up, but he barely dodges it, forcing a shockwave that echoes around the battlefield, reaching the raging clouds.
Pearl: Curse you and your creative mind, Sapphire.
She vanishes again, kicking him on the back before trying the slam attack one again. He again blocks it, this time launching it out of her hand.
As it lands on the ground nearby, its weight alone leaves a crater nearly a meter wide.
Dark general: You're disarmed.
Pearl: Good.
Suddenly, countless vacuum balls rain on top of him as Pearl vanishes.
He suddenly loses his lower left leg to an air snipe launched from nowhere.
He turns around to see Pearl, about to plant her axe in his body.
Pearl: Heavens' roar.
As her axe pierces his shoulder, thunder blasts down at the exact spot, vaporing his upper body instantly.
As his body slowly fades to dust, it flies towards the darkness's grinning face.
Darkness: It's been fun… But I'd say we should play… a different game.
It lands in the middle of the army, causing his aura to dissolve every dark troop. They all fade into dark energy and enter his aura.
It glares at Pearl who feels her heart sink.
She suddenly finds its fist deep in her gut, as she blasts through a forest, on top of a mountain.
Pearl starts panting, gripping on to her halberd.
Pearl: (So... fast.)
She notices the totem in her pocket, glowing gold.
Emerald launches an entire mountain at it, but the darkness, with a single glare, splits the mountain in half, causing the halves to go around it as it stands there, without even a flinch.
It suddenly launches an energy ball at Emerald. It lands, blasting him away, but walls rise from the ground, grabbing him down.
The darkness launches many more energy balls, but Emerald sinks in the ground, dodging the attacks.
Suddenly a giant lava golem arises with Emerald at its core.
Darkness: Ooo.
The golem slams its arm on top of the darkness, grabbing it by the leg. It blasts out its aura, dissolving the lava and freeing it from the golem's grip.
Suddenly, the second arm slams it down as lava starts to swallow it.
Before the passing of another moment, the darkness, through the golem, blasts itself and Emerald away, grabbing his waist.
It kicks him on his stomach, launching him down. As the dust settles, he's shown standing, wiping blood off head.
Emerald: (I can't last much longer like this.)
He looks up to see the darkness, still grinning.
Suddenly, Pearl appears behind it with a golden aura.
She slams her halberd on its skull, blasting him down to the ground.
As it stabilizes itself, she appears in front of it, she slams her axe again, causing the darkness to start to come out of Sapphire's body for a split second. An essence of the darkness came out but immediately went back inside.
Pearl: The devils also have limits… don't they?
She launches an air slash using the axe right before slamming her axe again, causing the darkness to come out again, right as it goes back in.
Darkness: Ouch.
Pearl: Here it comes.
She slams her axe from one direction, then the other, and another, but the darkness goes back every time.
Emerald launches countless lava balls but it dodges all of them.
As Pearl is about to slam again, he turns into dark energy and appears behind her, kicking her to the side of a mountain.
Emerald lifts up two mountains beside it, blasting both the mountains towards one another.
As he blasts out his aura leveling the mountain, a barrage of vacuum bombs rain from the sky.
Pearl blasts herself down, trying to hit him, but he dodges it, causing the attack to land on the ground and leave a city level crater.
From the leveled mountains, countless rocks fly at each side as Pearl continues her endless attack.
Suddenly, she slams its skull once again and then hits the darkness. It suddenly blasts out of her body as she takes out the totem from her pocket.
Darkness: AGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
It starts to swallow the darkness, releasing an energy Emerald, from miles back, could barely withstand.
As the darkness fully gets swallowed, the skies return to normal, Sapphire returns, fainted and panting.
Emerald suddenly starts to run towards Sapphire but is stopped when he senses a demonic aura.
Emerald: It… It's gone… but that aura-
He looks at Pearl falling to her knees.
Emerald: PEARL!!!
He tackles her down, causing her to dodge a swipe from a dark blade wielded by the darkness, still in Sapphire's body; still smiling.
Darkness: Life; hope; faith. Everything… comes to an end.
Emerald and Pearl, get into a battle pose.
Darkness: Everything comes to darkness.
He suddenly punches Pearl to the sky before anyone has had time to react.
It soon follows, slicing her in every direction before piercing her through the gut, causing her to spit out blood.
It blasts her on the skull with a point blank dark ball, blasting her down.
As she's about to land on the ground, the darkness appears once again, piercing her through the same part.
Emerald looks at the helberd beside him, right before getting back up.
The axe is suddenly launched at it but it grabs it with the blade, right before destroying the metal part into bits, causing a giant explosion of light.
She clenches the totem before burying it in its skin.
It simply takes it out and eats it, causing another explosion of light, this time in its body.
Pearl watches in horror as the darkness glares at her, grinning.
Darkness: That one had a nice aftertaste to it.
It blasts Pearl with a point blank dark beam, before kneeing her up in the air.
Darkness: Oppsi.
Emerald collects the surrounding rocks to form a pair of gauntlets, using it to grab Pearl and rest her on the ground.
Emerald: Stay here.
As he starts to walk away, he feels a hand grab his leg cloth.
He turns around to see Pearl, bleeding; panting… crying.
Emerald: Wh-What's wrong?
He immediately falls to his knees, holding Pearl in his arms.
Pearl: Emerald-Emerald.
Her tears and weeping increased after every word.
Emerald: Yes.
Pearl: I don't-I don't feel… I don't feel my body.
Emerald: No-No. Look at me.
He wipes off a tear before using the same hand to hold her cheek.
Emerald: Pearl. It'll be ok. It'll all work out.
Pearl: I-I.
She starts to shake, tears rolling endlessly.
Pearl: I don't wanna die-I don't wanna die. I don't wanna go. I want to live. Please.
She starts to hug him as he does the same.
Pearl: I wanna live. I wanna explore the world. I want to try new food. I wanna live. Please. Please. Please.
Emerald clenches her tightly as he feels her grip loosen.
Pearl: E-Emerald please. I wanna live. Please.
Emerald holds her in his arms as he feels her grip fade.
Emerald: Pearl?
He looks at her to see lifeless eyes.
Pearl: I'm sorry.
She also fades away as Emerald tries to hold her together, but to no avail.
Emerald: Pearl? PEARL!!!
He starts crying, weeping where she last rested.
Emerald: I wanna live too. I wanna live a peaceful life… with you.
He covers his face before punching the ground, causing his hand to bleed.
Emerald: I'm sorry. I-I am so sorry. Please. Please. I beg of you. One more second with you. Please forgive me.
Meanwhile, in Darkness(Sapphire)'s head.
Sapphire is using water to whip dark tentacles coming towards her.
She turns the aurora vail present above into water, whipping the darkness.
The quantity of the tentacles starts to increase, overwhelming Sapphire.
Suddenly, the totem of light falls on her head as she grabs it.
When she's inspecting it, the tentacles start to grab her body.
Breaking the darkness, the totem explodes into a bright light(Buddha's spirit).
Light: Sapphire!
The angelic voice echos around her mind.
Sapphire: Y-yes.
Light: The world needs you.
Sapphire: But I can't beat the darkness.
Light: Not the warrior in you; YOU!
Meanwhile,
Suddenly, Emerald appears in a realm of nothingness, standing before the four elementals; a genie like entity with fire for the head(Fire elemental), a genie like entity with a water drop for the head(Water elemental), a genie like entity with a circular dome of air for head and a tornado for the lower body(Air elemental),and a rock golem with a volcano on its back and trees and vines growing off its body(Earth elemental).
Emerald: E-Elementals.
He wipes his tears and kneels down.
Earth elemental: Emerald.
Fire elemental: The power of Buddha has failed you too, hasn't it?
He nods.
Water elemental: As calculated.
Earth elemental: Now it's up to you… to do what the gods couldn't.
Emerald: B-But I can't do it alone.
Air elemental: Who said you're alone?
Suddenly, a gentle hand rests on his shoulder.
As he turns around, he sees Sapphire with a golden aura, lighting up the darkness.
Sapphire: Hey.
He looks at her smile in shock.
Emerald: (This is the same smile she had back in Kiki's cave.)
Emerald: Sa-Sapphire?
Sapphire: Long time no talk. How's my friend been?
Emerald: Friend?
Sapphire: What? Did you net feed Kiki?
Emerald: (Oh!)
Sapphire: And you?
Emerald: Huh?
Sapphire: Have you been feeding yourself?
Emerald: Why do you care?
Sapphire: Because we're friends. As simple as that.
He gets shocked by her response.
Sapphire: What? Were you expecting a different answer?
Emerald: I... don't deserve a friend like you.
Sapphire: Well y'got one anyways.
Emerald looks at her unhinged smile before grabbing her hand in regret.
She starts to playfully stroke Emerald's hair.
Sapphire: What's the matter? Or should I say, 'Must I ask the reason behind your troublesome expression?'
She chuckles a little.
Sapphire: God bless-
Emerald: -Pearl… and Ruby. I couldn't protect them.
Sapphire: Okay.
Emerald: If I was stronger, I could've maybe done something.
Sapphire: So what? Is your present worth wasting on dwelling on the intangible past, or to prepare for the distant yet tangible future?
Emerald: But-But what do I do?
Sapphire: You take me down.
Emerald: But I can't.
Sapphire smiles before grabbing his hands using hers.
Sapphire: It's a punishment… for breaking your promise.
Tears start to roll down as Emerald looks up to see a smiling Sapphire.
Sapphire: Do you want them to die in vain?
Emerald wipes his tears and gets up.
Emerald: Damn you Sapphire.
She chuckles a little.
Sapphire: Thanks.
In the real world.
Darkness: The silence of a god.
It lands near him, grabbing its own chin.
Darkness: The only thing scarier than the scream on the devil.
Emerald gets up and looks at his hand with Sapphire's ring (Mended by him) and Pearl's whistle.
He puts it in his pocket, quietly standing there.
Narrator: As his soul falls, his power rises.
Emerald: Do you fear it tho?
The darkness still in Sapphire's body, is taken aback by his cold demeanor, as the shattered pieces of the helberd emit a golden glow, slowly levitating towards one another.
Air elemental: You think he'll do it?
Fire elemental: He has to.
Water elemental: You did a good job in picking an avatar.
Earth elemental: I could say the same thing about you.
Fire elemental: But it's true.
The earth elemental nods.
Darkness: Ouch. Rude. Could you not be-
*BOOM*
Emerald punches it using his earth gauntlets, to the other side of the battlefield.
As the darkness gets back to its feet, Emerald slams the axe, filled with the cracks formed from its previous destruction, but now being held together by a golden light on its shoulder, chopping off an arm, which immediately starts to grow back as an arm fully made up of darkness.
Emerald: Answer me. Do you fear the silence of a god?
He kicks it up before launching countless earth plates at it mid-air, forming a spherical rock around it.
Emerald: Do you fear death?
It blasts the plates away, right before blasting a beam of darkness at him.
As the beam is about to land, he plants the helberd to the ground, splitting the beam into smaller omni-directional rays.
The darkness launches countless dark blades, but Emerald simply lifts the helberd, spinning it around, using it as a shield against the blades.
The darkness punches him away, but he buries the glave in the ground, stopping himself.
Suddenly, a ball of dark energy blasts him up.
The darkness joins his arms into a double handed axe slam, slamming his skull.
Emerald, while falling, spins around, slicing the darkness's leg off which also starts to grow back.
As Emerald lands on the ground, a giant earth dragon rises, swallowing the darkness.
Suddenly, he collapses it into a thin, super dense chain which the darkness destroys.
Water elemental: Your avatar remaining calm at such a trivial affair appears to be his biggest strength. The darkness can't read any of his moves.
Air elemental: Plus, he's welding the helberd like it's some kind of child's play.
Earth elemental: All thanks to your avatars. Their influence is what drives his fighting spirit.
Emerald opens his arms and takes a deep breath, clenching the axe.
The darkness charges an energy attack and launches it at Emerald, causing an explosion.
As the dust settles, he's nowhere to be found.
Darkness: Where-
As it looks up,it notices Emerald, about to slam the axe down.
It suddenly turns to the form of dark energy, getting away as the axe lands on the ground, cracking the earth beneath.
As the darkness appears again, Emerald jumps up again, trying the same attack.
The darkness blocks it using its arms.
Emerald continues his attack, slicing it through its face, leaving a massive scar.
The darkness blasts a dark ball to his gut but he tanks it, responding with a knee to its gut.
Emerald kicks it on all fours, towering over him as he starts to pant.
It suddenly takes the form of Sapphire.
Darkness: I-I'm free. E-Emerald you freed me from that nightmare.
Emerald just glares at it.
Darkness: Oh thank goodness. It was horrible-
Emerald suddenly slices its finger off, revealing dark energy.
Darkness: This-This.
Sapphire(Spirit): Do it.
*BOOM*
He slams the axe down, slicing the body through the neck to the gut, as all the dark energy starts to fade away, leaving her body.
Emerald just stands still, gripping on to the axe as the screen goes black.
Emerald: I can't believe I'm about to do this.
Emerald, wearing a straw hat and a strand of wheat in his mouth, sighs.
Emerald: Our world was made billions of years ago by Jaya who made our planet's protectors; the elementals. Humans worshipped these elementals and in return, they gave us the power to warp a specific element. Fire, water, earth and wind.
He starts to walk through a village, exiting his farm, towards a small cemetery on top of a hill.
Emerald: A few years ago, a war broke out due to the aries of a fifth element; the dark forces. The elementals couldn't interfere in mortal conflicts, so they chose me and my friends to save the world. Ruby, the brightest flame, Pearl, the storm slayer… and my closest friend.
He slightly chuckles.
Emerald: We argued a lot.
He gives a soft smile when standing in front of a tombstone with Sapphire carved onto it.
Emerald: And alas, Sapphire… the wisest idiot ever.
He starts to stroke the stone.
The end!!!
