"I heard you skipped my classes on purpose."
Tae stood silent. He was standing right in front of his history professor. He knew that one day, his teacher would know that he's skipping classes.
But he didn't know it was today.
"Give me your report."
Tae gulped. For f<cks sake - the reason why he skipped class today is that he doesn't have a report.
"I-I'm sorry ma'am, but I left my report in our house-"
"You left your report, or you didn't do it?"
He looked down his feet and fidgeted with his fingers. He feels so nervous.
He heard her sigh. "You're a diligent student Mr. Kim. But I didn't know that your like this."
Silence reigned in the room. Taehyung felt so frozen because he doesn't know what will happen next.
"For that I will give you a special assignment."
Tea cursed mentally. Of all the punishments, why an assignment?
"I want you to make a research about what truly happened to Captain Jeon and why was he proclaimed as our national hero. I'm giving you a month to give me your answer."
Tae's mouth went agape.
"Captain Jeon? B-But not even the historians knew what-"
"That's why I'm asking you to do a research about it."Srsly? He can't take this kind of punishment, it's just too unfair.
"But ma'am-"
"If only you did your report then you won't have to do this. You can leave now."
He had no choice but to take it anymore. He took a bow before leaving the room.
As soon as he went out, he saw Jimin leaning on the side of the wall - probably listening.
"Tae-"
"You did this, didn't you?"
Jimin went silent. "Tae I told you I won't let this one slide."
Tea let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Because of you I had another shitty assignment!" He cried. Some of the students are looking at them now.
"Are you really my bestfriend?" Jimin felt so offended. His heart sank. "Excuse me? Just because of that? You're questioning our friendship now?Just because of that? Tae I'm your bestfriend but I won't tolerate your wrong doings. I want the best for you-!"
"Best for me? Your just my friend Jimin, not my parents. You don't have the right to decide for me."
And Tae left. Jimin felt a tear roll down his cheeks.
Is he a bad friend?
PART 11 - 20
Tae just finished eating lunch. It's 12 in the afternoon and all the studs are on their break.
It's been a month, and he still hasn't talked to Jimin. He still feels mad about him, and he knows that it's not right to talk to him for now.
But he misses him.
Of course who wouldn't miss him? They're always together for almost 24/7. Probably partners in crime already. They've grown together, and he's really happy that Jimin is his best friend.
He sighed and shook his thoughts out. He needs to distract himself. Probably read something.
He was on his way to the library when he saw Mrs. Min coming on his way.
He cursed under his breath. Oh ****, he still haven't done his report and he forgot that today is the deadline.
Well by deadline - he's really dead.
He slowly took turn and pretended like he didn't see his teacher. But unfortunately, she called him out. "Mr. Kim! I've been looking for you, actually."
Mrs. Min said and Tae took a sigh.
What's he gonna do now?
"Why is that?" He took out a nervous laugh and scratched the back of his head.
"U know why. I need your report."
He's literally cursing mentally using 20483920 languages to try and summon a portal, so he can get out of this.
"Oh...about that..." He started. His thoughts were scattered, and he doesn't know how to say it.
"I...I did not do it." He looked down at his feet, afraid of seeing her reaction. But he heard a deep sigh. " I have no words for you Mr. Kim. I gave you all the chances to keep up,, but you still didn't do it."
She crossed her arms above her chest.
"This is your last chance. If you don't submit your report within another month then I'm sorry, but I'm reporting you to the principal's office." She left and Tae's mouth went agape.
Principal's Office? Oh! god no - just no. Just because of that one subject he'll get reported? He's been trying to maintain a good record ever since high-school!
He sighed and ran. He didn't know where he was going, but he just followed the tracks of his own foot.
He wanted to shout, cry and break anything that he sees. He feels so angry and sad at the same time.
History is just an easy subject. But he really doesn't have interest in it.
He reached the rooftop. No one was there, but he could see everything from up here.
His knees went weak and he stumbled on the floor. He feels so pressured about everything that's happening to him.
It's his 4th year of college, he's almost graduating but why is this all happening?
"I ******* wish I lived in the year where it happened so I wouldn't have to do all this shit." He cried out.
Time passed and his tears were all dried up. It was just a moment of weakness maybe?
He didn't notice that it was already his Art class. He's super late.
But he felt so down, and he can't even run.
He went downstairs and he reaches the 3rd floor. It felt so odd because it was so quiet.
He just shrugged it off and continued walking.
He finally reached his classroom. The door was closed and it looked different.
"The door is not like thus before..." He muttered while looking at the scratchy wooden door.
He opened the door, but he found no one inside. It's just all double-decked beds and bags.
He furrowed his brows. He probably entered the wrong room.
But no.
This is his classroom number. It's very clear and there's no way the teacher would move classrooms without him knowing.
And plus, why would there be beds and bags here? This is a school, not a cabin.
He looked around but he saw no one. He felt nervous as it sounds so quiet, and he feels like he's the only person here.
He explored his gaze and saw signs engraved on the walls.
"Why is there traditional Hangul here?" He asked himself. He's never seen those before. Weird.
He decided to take a walk in the hallway. There's seriously no one in here. It's been some minutes, and he still hasn't seen any students.
He's starting to get scared. "I wish Jimin was here..." He was slightly tearing up. Jimin was always there for him whenever he feels lost.
And now, he misses him even more.
"Ouch!" He bumped onto someone while walking. How dumb of him, he didn't even see that person coming.
He looked at the person, and saluted before bowing. It was a soldier.
"I'm sorry sir!" He said and dared to leave, but only a few steps were made when the soldier called him out. "Excuse me, who are you?" The soldier asked with an intriguing voice.
"I'm a student here, sir." He said and he saw the soldier took a hold of his gun in his pocket.
His heart started to beat faster. "Student? Do u have any believable excuse?" Tae looked so confused.
"W-What? I'm a student here. What are you talking about?" He asked, and the soldier took out his gun, and pointed it to him.
"Don't you dare move." Tae raised both of his hands like he's surrendering. He felt so stiff and nervous.
The soldier took out his radio and spoke against it while his eyes were still watching Tae.
"Hello, this is Private First Class Jung Jae In. I found a spy lurking in here."
Tae's eyes bawled. "What?! I'm not a spy-!" But he was shut when the soldier shook the gun.
"3rd floor, left hallway. He's wearing weird clothes, IDK how to express it in words. Please send a back-up."
The soldier took down his radio and held the gun with both hands. "Sir, I swear I'm not a spy I'm just a student-"
"Save your excuses in the investigation room."
Tae's jaw dropped. "Investigation room?! Are you for real?!"
But the soldier did not respond - instead, he slowly walked towards him with his gun still pointed at him.
"W-Why are you coming close?!" Tae was literally panicking.
The soldier was already close to him and Tae felt so scared. What in the world was happening?
He shut his eyes, and cursed in his mind. It's now or never.
He quickly kicked the soldier on the stomach and he stumbled on the floor with a painful cry.
"Yah! Stop right there!"
He did not listen and continued to ran away as fast as he could. He almost even fell on the floor because of his fast phase and the shaking of his legs weren't helping either.
Why is there suddenly a soldier here? And it's even accusing him of being a spy? For real?
He bumped into another group of soldiers but he was too fast to react and he quickly escaped them.
"That's the spy! Inform the others now!" He overheard them and he knew that they're running after him.
He was going down to the 2nd floor and he felt like crying cuz his legs we're already sore.
But he shouldn't stop running for now. He quickly went down the stairs to the 1st floor. And he's actually skipping steps just to run faster.
Right when he reached the first floor, another group of soldiers cornered him.
"Hey! Stop running!"
They we're blocking the right hallway, so he instead took the left hallway.
He's very lucky that they haven't shot him up until now. Oh god
His legs we're quivering, and it's actually almost falling. The shaking was too intense, and He felt so tired.
He turned to see his back and there were so many soldiers running after him. he was about to face the front again when he bumped onto someone.
"Ah!" Both of them stumbled on the floor. But Tae was on top of that person.
And he's shocked about whom that person is.
Captain Jeon.
Tae felt hands lifting him up, even though he knew he got caught, he's still stunned by what he just saw.
"Captain," all of them saluted. "I found him on the 3rd floor. He looks like he's spying on us."
But Tae was caught off by that. "I told you I'm not a spy! WTF?"
Both of his arms we're held by two soldiers and he knew they won't let him go. But he still tried to escape their grip.
"Investigate him." A cold tone was heard, and it sent chills to Tae's spine. He's literally silenced since he can't believe he just heard Captain Jeon's and probably be interrogated. He was sat on a wooden chair and they tied his hands on the back of the chair.
"No, let go of me! " Tae cried, and it kind of hurts because the grip of the rope was too tight.
"I don't know what's going on but I'm telling you for the second time that I am not a spy! Can you all atleast listen to me?!" But no one paid attention to him.
He was about to shout again when Captain Jeon entered the room. Tae felt intimidated and confused at the same time. Someone is probably playing a trick on him.
He stood right in front of Tae, and it did not help at all. "State your name." He said.
Tae opened his mouth but no words came out. His throat suddenly felt dry and he doesn't know why.
"Why would I tell you my name?!" Tae forced a word.
But he was surprised when the Captain pointed his gun at him. "Who sent you here?Who's your boss?
Tae felt even more nervous to the point that he's almost tearing up. "I'm not a spy! For goodness sake have you seen this face? Have you ever seen a spy this beautiful?"
He blinked like he was trying to act cute. He thought that it might help but he realized that it won't.
Jungkook pulled the trigger and shot it on the wall behind Tae.
"Ah!" Tae cried, he was trembling in fear. He didn't even realized that he was already crying.
"We won't hurt you if you'll tell the truth." He said and put the gun back in its place.
"Who are you?", "He's my son."
Tae's eyes shot wide open when he heard that. An old man with a soldier uniform entered the room with an angry face.
All the soldiers saluted and bowed to him.
"General Kim, I'm sorry, but I didn't know that he was your son." Jungkook said and bowed to him.
"Untie him." The general ordered and they immediately untied Tae. "See? I told you I'm not a spy." Tae stuck his tongue out.
And Jungkook gave him a glare which immediately shut him down. "Go back to your duties. Son, I'll send you home for now. You must be tired,"
"And you Captain Jeon, I'll see you in my office. I need to talk to you about something important."
Jungkook saluted, "Yes, sir."
PART 21 - 30
"Oh god, Taehyung! Your father told me what happened, are you okay?"
A woman came running to Tae. She looks beautiful, and she's probably in her 40s.
Tae's heart was beating faster. This feeling seems familiar, it's just too familiar for him to forget.
"M-Mom... ?"
The woman smiled and caressed his cheeks. "Are you hungry? Come here, I'll cook you some food."
But Tae didn't follow. Instead, he was standing frozen with his tears flowing down. "Mom." He muttered.
His mother died after giving birth to his brother. After that, he's never experienced a mother's love anymore.
And now, right in front of him - his mother. The woman who gave him life and loved him with no condition. He missed her. He missed his mom.
He slowly sat on the chair table and stared at his mom. He can't believe it.
If this is a dream, he'd rather not wake up. "What's wrong son?" She noticed him crying, and Tae just laughed it off.
" It's nothing mom, I...I just missed you." His mom laughed. "Why are you suddenly acting strange?" She said.
The food was ready, and they chit-chatted a little. "Mom, why are you wearing a traditional hanbok? I don't remember any holidays today." He said, and his mother frowned.
"What are you talking about? This is our clothes. And what are you wearing? I've never seen clothes like that before. "She said and it made Tae confused as hell. "What? I don't get you mom." He chuckled nervously.
"And what is this?" His mom pointed at his cellphone. "For real mom? You don't know this?" His mom slowly shook her head.
Tae sighed. "This is called a cellphone. You use it to communicate, also for entertainments and checking dates." He explained, it's not brief, but he knew she understood.
"Really? Where did you get that? And can you tell me the date today?"
Tae checked his phone and went to the me the calendars. But he wasn't expecting about what he saw.
"October 7, 1894."
