Thousands of years ago.. there was a war among the Heavens, many lives were lost, and it was all for dominance. The God of Flame wanted power, to become the strongest being, and rule over all. The God of Flame had followers, who believed the lies they were told... the greatness they were promised. The war held place where it was once peaceful.. the remains were bones and ash. Blood was spilled and tears were shed for those who never returned. Many Gods and majestic beings died during all those years the war was being fought. Only Nine gods and very few mythical creatures survived... Those Gods possessed the power of one Element each, Wind, Water, Flame, Frost, Thunder, Nature, Stone, Sensation, and Light. The Element of light was the strongest, and was in the hands of Heaven's ruler, Laurel, whom was the Godess over all Gods. The Goddess Laurel was the one who ended the war.. by ending the God of Flame's life, Him being replaced by another powerful God with the Flame Element, the 'only' Flame God who survived the war.
Now, Every year a ritual was held, a ritual to gain the Blessing of The Goddess Laurel. It was said that she would only show herself to those with a pure heart, and that her blessings would protect the people of Zoxia. Ruin was a commoner who went to see the ritual, he saw all the people gathering as a tall man was giving a speech about the goddess. After a while of being there Ruin saw a light.. it was very bright, yet no one else seemed to have noticed it. He walked towards the mysterious light getting closer and closer to it, it looked like.. A Woman!? She was wearing a long white dress, which the ends of looked like they moved on their own. The beautiful woman was about to extend her hand towards him, before tragedy struck. The trees had caught fire, it seemed almost impossible for that to happen there, It was sacred land!.. but it did. After that moment everything started to go wrong, people were running away from the danger; the fire continued to spread, and the sky was no longer blue.. but gray. Time seemed to slow down as the mysterious woman slowly became more and more visible to him, she was truly gorgeous, and felt at ease with her. Just when he started to feel safe, a dark figure that appeared behind her, held a sanctified sword in the air and at that moment her long, white dress was tainted red.
Ruin watched in horror as he saw her being pierced through the heart by the blade, a man with dark clothing which the ends seemed to be in flames yet didn't burn, slowly began to appear out of the shadowy figure that had impaled her. The man leaned close to her ear and spoke with a smirk - "Goodbye.. 'Old friend'..." He harshly pulled the sword out of her body while she spoke, she sounded weak..- "Ahh-- h- how are you alive!?..." The man didn't completely answer her question- "I'm a God!.. Any of my followers would gladly give their lives for me." Her eyes widened at his statement, as she seemed to understand exactly what he meant by that. - "yu- You Monster!" The man laughed and pushed her onto her knees before leaving without saying another word. He didn't seem to have noticed Ruin's presence..
Ruin rushed over to the dyeing woman in front of him with a concerned expression. "Ma'am! a- are you-" She quickly cut him off by saying- "I- I am Laurel- Goddess over the Gods... I will bestow my power onto you.. in form of a blessing.. Listen to me carefully, my physical body will die but my spirit will live on in you... I will guide you through this important journey.. You must gain the Blessings of all 8 gods, first go to the Goddess of sensation.. she knows the gods best and can tell you in what order to meet them... have this enchanted map, Once you are there you must tell each God.. 'The goddess of light has fallen, and I, Ruin, was given her blessing to become Heaven's new ruler, for The God of Disaster has returned'--" He was shocked by what she had said.. and didn't know why she had chosen him, but he wasn't about to turn down a goddess! so he took the map and held her hand. "I- I promise I'll do my best!" She smiled at him before making some kind of creature appear before him "hah, I knew you were a good kid.. just one more thing, please take care of Kaiju for me.. he will help you on this divine mission as well.-" The strange creature walked up to him.. it was a cat.. but with wings and horns? he was a little conflicted by this animal.. "alright" Once he had said that, he took the animal in his arms and let go of the goddess; as her body began to turn into ash, he started to walk away.
This is where Ruin's journey to save Heaven began..
It was now almost noon, Ruin and Kaiju walked down a secret path to the Temple of Sensation, that was on the enchanted map The Goddess Laurel had given him before her depart from the mortal realm.
He felt odd having some kind of hybrid follow him around, but he didn't have much of a choice since it was a request from a Goddess, and the cat-like being didn't seem too content with him either. As they walked down the trail they encountered a few setbacks like trees in the way, quicksand, strange animals, but it wasn't too bad since they were pretty easy to handle. Ruin was granted a silver sword a few years back from the passing of an old friend, so he brought it with him in hopes that it would help him on his journey.
He had the sword in its sheath on the side of his belt, he tried his best to look strong, but in reality he barely knew how to wield a sword.
He stared at Kaiju meowing in a quite annoyed manner as they walked down the secret path. Ruin didn't understand, how could he? It was animal language, but one thing was for sure.. This creature did NOT like him. As he started to get tired of the being's complaining he suddenly felt like a pair of eyes were on them. He froze right in his tracks and looked around to see what or who was watching them, but he didn't see anything; he began to walk again, more cautiously this time, but he couldn't help but notice that Kaiju had stopped meowing. Could the animal have seen what was staring at them? He didn't think much of it; he just kept walking, ignoring the feeling of being stalked.
After a short while of walking, they started to smell a horrible stench, It smelled like... Saliva and rotten flesh, and it only got stronger as they continued. It made Ruin feel sick to his stomach, as if the awful smell was right under his nose. He couldn't take it anymore and neither could Kaiju, so they stopped for a bit to cool off a little before the foul scent grew worse. Ruin's eyes widened as he saw something he hadn't noticed earlier, it was a giant spider web the size of a mansion with numerous deceased creatures trapped in it. He began to feel a little panicked as he thought about what could have made such a large web, and froze as he heard a fairly loud clacking sound coming from some bushes near them.
Clack Clack CLACK
It did not sound good, at all! It was at that moment that he saw an enormous spider charging right at them.
He pulled the sword out of its sheath and pointed it directly at the spider while standing in front of Kaiju. He didn't know what else to do, he was worried he'd have to fight the monstrous arachnid on his own, with minimal skill and barely any training.
That was when a very athletic girl with panther-like characteristics, leaped from one of the trees and onto the spider; putting a spear through its head while it screeched and fell to the ground.
Once it was dead, she pulled the spear out and got down from on top of the arachnid. She got close to Ruin and pushed him onto the ground beneath him, putting the spear to his throat. "Who are you! And what is your business here!" Her tone was harsh and demanding, she was definitely not one to mess with. She had a cold and intimidating expression as she stared down at him and pinned his arms down with her feet to restrain him from reaching for his sword which he had dropped when she pushed him. "O- Ow.. I just want to speak with The Goddess of Sensation.. I swear.."
She did not seem convinced by his claim, but she was curious as to why he wanted to speak with the goddess. "Hm, why do you wish to seek the audience of The Great Goddess?"
She kept her guard up and remained stern while he began to worry that she wouldn't let him pass. "Please! I beg of you, it won't take long. It's really important."
He feared that he couldn't tell her his motives, in case she had bad intentions. She was not happy at all with his response and did not believe a word he had to say, but she unpinned him and pulled the spear away from his throat. She then forcefully sat him up and tied his hands behind his back with a rope, making him stand up right after. "I don't trust you, but I'll let the goddess decide what she'll do with you.."
Her panther tail swayed behind her and her ears flicked, unsure if she had made the right decision. He was slightly shocked by what she said but was extremely grateful. He watched as she picked up his sword and patted him down to check if he had any more weapons on him. She then picked up Kaiju and dragged Ruin along by his shirt, so he wouldn't try to do anything. The rotten stench got fainter as they walked further away from the web, it was now almost unnoticeable and felt like they could breathe again. As they continued to walk for a long while, a very tall, thousand-year-old, structure began to appear in the distance of the path. He felt exhausted for having to walk for so long, but they eventually made it to their destination. A couple of guards stared at her for a moment examining her features before opening the gates to the Temple and letting them in.
As they walked through the gates, Ruin noticed she took then took him and Kaiju to a throne room, where a tall, beautiful, woman in appealing clothing sat comfortably with her legs crossed.
The girl that had taken them there immediately bowed as the woman began to speak.
"Whom dares present themselves unforeseen ere thy Goddess!"
