"Next!!"

'Looks like my time is up' thought a messy looking kid who got off from what seems to be a waiting chair. After some minutes of walking towards the source of where he heard 'Next!', he finally stopped on a stage while emotionlessly staring at a burly military man holding a mini clipboard.

This burly man had both dark hairs and eyes, he wore a military uniform that seems to be a body hug to him while also wearing military boots.

"Are you Kyler Pearce?"

"Yes sir!!" Replied the messy looking teen with utmost boldness on his facial expression. But unfortunately, that reply didn't even faze the military man who was sternly inspecting Pearce from head to toe.

Kyler Pearce has long and messy greenish hair along with his glowing green eyes. He can be labeled as a stunning beauty if not for his unkept face along with the rags he is currently wearing while being barefooted.

"Why do you want to join the monster slaying regiment?" Asked the military man after inspecting Pearce.

When Pearce heard that question, anger suddenly surged inside him as he replied with a surprisenly tense voice.

"Because I want to get my revenge sir"

"Oh?, For what?" The military man asked with now having a curious expression on his face. Before Pearce answered the military man, he first took a deep breath then he answered while slowly having red eyes.

"Five years ago, a monster invaded my home late at night and slaughtered my entire family"

"Where were you the time that happened?" the military man asked again with a look of pity on his face.

"I was out after I got scolded by my dad for always allowing myself to be bullied" Pearce answered with bloodshot eyes.

After quietly observing the boy for some more minutes, the military man smirked a little as he thought.

'it seems I have find the person old hag'

"I am lieutenant Rogers and from now on you will be a new member of my group" said the military man as he suddenly turned and began to walk out of the auditorium.

"Wait sir… does that mean… I passed?" Asked Pearce with a dazed expression on his face.

"Of cause, welcome to the monster slaying regiment" Rogers quickly replied as he got out of the building.

'Yes!' Pearce thought joyfully as he punched the air above him with all his strength.

"Aren't you coming?" Asked Rogers from outside the building.

"Am coming sir" answered Pearce as he hastenly ran out of the building. When Pearce got out the building, he suddenly had a look of shock as he thought

'Where am I?'

Before Pearce got into the Military Recruitment Building, all he saw were moving cars, people walking back and forth and tall buildings all around the place.

But now what Pearce is seeing are tents, blockades and some people wearing military uniform also walking back and forth.

"You must be wondering where you are right now right?" Rogers suddenly asked as he resumed his walk.

"Umm… yes sir" replied Pearce as he quickly followed Rogers in his walk.

"There is a special system in the Military Recruitment Building or better known as the MRB that once a person successfully get recruited into a monster slaying regiment, the building will automatically teleport you the new recruits testing area" Rogers explained while still walking.

"Testing area?" Asked Pearce with confused expression. But Rogers seems to ignore it as he suddenly stopped in front of a huge greenish tent and said.

"We have reached the registration tent. Get in to register, I am not allowed in so I will be waiting for you right here"

"Huh, why can't you go in sir?" Pearce asked with a more confused expression. But Rogers seems to avoid an eye contact as he replied.

"Umm… it's personal stuff. Just get in there"

"Ok sir!" Said Pearce as he quickly got into the tent. Immediately after Pearce got into the tent, Rogers suddenly sighed in relief as he thought.

'What a relief. I would have met that devil incarnate today'

"Hello, is anyone here?" Asked Pearce with a curious expression while staring at the emptiness of the tent. But suddenly, he heard a voice from all around the tent saying.

"Who are you and why are you here?"

"My name is Kyler Pearce and I am here to register into the monster slaying regiment" answered Dave with utmost boldness.

"Oh?, A fresh blood wannerbe huh?" The voice said with sarcasm. Suddenly, an evil looking man holding a transparent orb appeared right in front of Pearce.

This man has a bald head along with a wrinkled face, a crooked neck and a hunch back. Not only that but he also reeks of an odd ordor.

But surprisenly, Pearce didn't even faze after staring at the hideous man who appeared right in front of him.

'This guy is good' thought the hideous man as he quitely stared at Pearce. But after waiting for a few more minutes without any response, the hideous man decided to speak.

"For not freaking out upon seeing my appearance, I will let you off the hook"

'Wait, you are letting me off the hook now?' Pearce thought as a drop of sweat appeared at the side of his head.

Apparently, when Pearce saw the hideous man suddenly appearing in front of him, he was on the verge of screaming. But something seemed to hold him back from the doing the forbidden.

"My name is Menacing Demon and where you are is the new troop registration tent. We shall start your registration by telling me everything about yourself" the hideous man announced as a clipboard along with a pen suddenly appeared on his devilish hands.

'How does he do that?' Pearce thought as he stood upright and began to speak.

"My name is Tyler Pearce. I am 12 years old, I graduated from the military children encampment center and I would love to join the monster slaying regiment"

'12 years old?' Menacing Demon thought while writing down everything Pearce said. After completing Pearce's profile, the clipboard suddenly vanished along with the appearance of the transparent orb Menacing Demon was holding before.

"What is that Sir Demon?" Asked Pearce while pointing at the transparent orb Menacing Demon is holding.

"This a qi potential checker" Menacing Demon answered plainly. But before Pearce could ask another question, Menacing Demon continued.

"All humans have qi or also known as life energy in them but only 10% knows how to use it. Our qi can be used for many things but we in the monster slaying regiment use it to fight the monsters lurking in the area"

'Well that clears most of my doubts' thought Pearce as he asks again.

"So how does this orb check the potential of my qi?"

"That's pretty simple to do. The orb shows colors which are black, white, gold, yellow and red as the black is the highest potential while red the lowest. Just place your hand on the orb and the orb will immediately show you your qi potential" answered Menacing Demon as he stretched the hand he used to hold the orb towards Pearce.

'Here goes nothing' Pearce thought as gently placed his right hand on the orb. As soon as Pearce placed his hands on the orb, the once transparent white orb suddenly began to simultaneously change it's color from black to red and back to black again.

'The orb hasn't reacted like this before' thought Menacing Demon while staring at the color changing orb on his hand.

But after some minutes later, the orb finally settled on the red color. After seeing that the orb didn't change it's color for a few minutes, Menacing Demon quickly threw away the orb on a pile of different color orbs at a side of the tent.

"Congratulations, you passed. Although your potential is in the lowest rank, you still passed the eligibility mark" said the Menacing Demon with his usual devilish smile.

"If so, then how can I fail to reach the eligibility mark?" Asked Pearce with a surprised expression on his face.

"That would be when your qi potential turns black" answered Menacing Demon with a solemn look on his face.

"What?" Said Pearce with a confused expression on his face. But Menacing Demon seemed to ignore him as he spoke again.

"Although a black qi is the most highest potential known to man, it's also the emblem of evil since most people who are evil minded have a black qi in them"

"Does that mean you have black qi?" Pearce suddenly asked with a frightened expression on his face.

When Menacing Demon heard that question, he was on the verge of puking blood but used all his will power to hold himself back. After some minutes trying to calm down, he loudly cursed.

"Damn you!!, Just because I look and sound evil doesn't mean I have black qi!!"

"Am so sorry Sir Demon, please forgive my lack of knowledge" Pearce hurriedly said in a flustered tone.

"It's alright, I have been asked that same question before. Just know that looks doesn't matter when it comes to determining someone's qi" said Menacing Demon with a gloomy expression.

"Yes Sir Demon" Pearce hurriedly replied.

"Now let me show you your monster slaying comrades" said Menacing Demon with a tired look on his face.

"Oh no sir, Sir Rogers is already waiting for me outside to show me my new comrades" said Pearce with a plain smile on his face.

"Is that so?, Then lead the way because I would like to see him" said Menacing Demon with a secretive smile on his face.

"Ok Sir Demon" replied Pearce as he went towards the entrance of the tent along with Menacing Demon.

But they failed to notice that the orb which Menacing Demon used to check Pearce qi potential is no longer plain red but has a dark shade ontop the red.

"I hope he doesn't kill that small child" Rogers muttered while walking back and forth at the tent entrance with a worried look on his face.

"Sir Rogers!" Pearce called out as he came out of the tent with Menacing Demon. When Rogers heard that childish voice, he quickly turned toward the entrance of the tent with a joyful smile.

But his joyful smile quickly turned into fright when he saw the hideous man standing so closely beside Pearce. But before he could run away, Pearce suddenly spoke.

"Sir Rogers, I brought Sir Demon with me since he said he would like to meet you"

"How are my daughter and her child my son in law?" Menacing Demon quickly asked with a devilish smile on his face.

"They are fine Father in law. What made you to come out of your tent?" Asked Rogers while sweating profusely.

"Well I was planning on bringing this young man to his new comrades. Or do you plan on doing it?" Asked Menacing Demon in a devilish tone.

"Or no father, I wouldn't dare. Please do as you see fit, Goodbye" Rogers hurriedly said before he ran off with a frightening speed.

"Coward" Menacing Demon muttered with disgust as he grabbed a shocked Pearce's hand and began to move towards another area.

"I never knew Sir Rogers was your son in law" Pearce suddenly spoke after being in shock for a few minutes.

"He just had luck that my dear daughter loves him dearly or else he wouldn't have seen this day" Menacing Demon replied with killing intent leaking out of his body.

'Does he want to kill him' Pearce thought as a frightened expression appeared on his face. But not long after, the killing intent leaking out of Menacing Demon vanished as he spoke solemnly.

"Let me give you a piece of advice. Don't ever associate with that beast if you don't want to be defiled"

"Yes Sir!" Shouted Pearce with a serious expression on his face.

"Good. Now let's go meet your new comrades" Menacing Demon said as he dragged Pearce into the only building in the whole area.

'Hope nothing goes wrong' Pearce thought as he entered the only building in the area along with Menacing Demon.

When they got into the building, they could see strange patterns on the brown colored walls. Not only that but they saw five people gathered at the corner of what seems to be a large hall they just got into.

But when they got closer, they find out that those five people were actually children being seated on a floating chair while playing cards. Among the five children, two were males while the others were females.

"Greetings young ones, I am here to announce that a new comrade has joined your group" Menacing Demon said as he pushed Pearce a little towards the group.

When the five children heard that voice, they suddenly froze in place. But immediately after, they hurriedly came down from the chair and did a stern salute towards Menacing Demon while shouting.

"Greetings Commander Menacing Demon!!"

"You don't always have to be that serious when saluting your superior. You need to be loose a little at times" Menacing Demon said with an exhausted expression on his face while massaging his temples.

"Ugh…"

While staring at the speechless children in front of him, Menacing Demon pushed Pearce a little again. When Pearce got pushed a little again, he suddenly woke up from the daze he got into while staring at one of the children in front of him.

"Umm… my name… my name is Kyler Pearce and I will be your new comrade from now on"

Pearce stuttered as he bowed a little.

"You guys make him feel at home. And also your training will start by tomorrow" Menacing Demon said before he turned and began to walk out of the building.

"Yes Sir!!" Echoed the five children while saluting in an orderly manner. But after Menacing Demon left the building, they all heaved a sigh of relief as they loosened up their bodies.

"Thank goodness he is gone"

"I really don't like seeing that nightmare"

"Right now a good game of cards will lighten up my mood a little"

"Umm… hello?" Pearce said as he saw the five children suddenly turning to go back to the floating chair.

"Oh, I almost forgot that a new comrade has join us" said one of the male children after hearing Pearce's voice as he turned again to go meet Pearce.

This boy had a slightly long green hair which was all tied at his back to make a small ponytail. He also had a pair of bright green eyes which slightly blend with the dark green military clothes he wore.

"What was that your name?" Said the boy as he placed his right hand across Pearce shoulder while the other was on his chin.

'Seriously? I said my name just two minutes ago' Pearce thought as he rolled his eyes while saying.

"Kyler Pearce"

"Oh that's right!" Exclaimed the boy beside Pearce as understanding dawned upon him.

"Well my name is Drake Murphy, am kind of the youngest in the group since am 13 years old" said the boy with a proud look

"You are not the only one who is 13 Drake" one of the girls in the group suddenly spoke as they all gathered Pearce.

"Am Roseline Stallion" the girl introduced herself as she stared at the messy looking Pearce. Roseline has long dark hair which matches her red eyes. Although she is the shortest among the group, she is also the cutest while having a sweet charm around her.

"Roselle Barnes" The next girl suddenly introduced herself. This girl has sparkling brown hair with dark eyes. Although her face still looks like a child, body is in total opposite since her curves were slightly seen on the all green uniform she wore.

"Am Alex Arnold" said the other boy among the group. He has a buzz cut blonde hair with a slightly golden eyes. He seems to be oldest in the group since he gives off a slightly mature vibe around him.

After Alex finished introducing himself, the three children along with Alex suddenly towards the last person who should introduce herself. Pearce also looked at the person with a hidden expectant gaze on his face.

"Caroline" The girl finally spoke after staying quiet for a few more minutes, she has a long dark hair matching her dark eyes. She gives off a very cold vibe around her which generally makes people to avoid her.

After Caroline introduced herself, everyone except Pearce to resume their argument about there ages. When Pearce heard the name of the girl that introduced herself last, an unexplainable joy suddenly inside him which made him want to shout.

But unfortunately, Drake suddenly woke him up from his daydream as he asked a question.

"So Pearce, how old are you?"

"Huh?" Pearce said instinctively as he tried to grab what Drake asked him.

"Wait don't tell you didn't get anything we have said just now" Drake suddenly asked with an incredulous expression on his face.

But unfortunately, Pearce responded to him by laughing awkwardly while scratching the side of his head. As soon as Pearce did that, a strange ordour suddenly appeared in the midst of the group.

"Dude, when last have you taken a bath?" Drake suddenly said as he distanced himself from Pearce while covering his nose.

When Pearce saw the sudden behaviour of Drake, he slowly lowered his head as he muttered shamefully.

"Am… sorry"

"That's not how you should treat people Drake!!" Alex suddenly shouted while covering his nose.

"I know but I just can't help it Alex, I couldn't stand it" Drake replied back while still covering his nose.

"He's right Alex"

"Humans shouldn't smell that way"

Both Roselle and Roseline spoke to defend Drake since they look like they couldn't bear the smell the most.

"You guys…" Alex muttered while shaking his head a little. But not long after, Pearce suddenly spoke in an intense cold tone.

"Where is the bathroom Alex?"

"The last door to your left upstairs" Alex quickly spoke while suppressing the shock that appeared within him. Still with his cold tone, Pearce replied as he went past the group gently.

"Thank you"

But he failed to notice that when he passed the group, Caroline who hasn't shown even an expression since when he came suddenly smirked.
