The sounds of ECG, the scent of a hospital room,the familiar feeling...I wonder how long have I been here.My name is Lizabeth, born with a weak heart I spent nearly most of my life within the walls of a hospital room,my parents who passed away several years ago spent all their fortune on treating me. The day they passed away was the saddest day in my life.

I wished a thousand times if I would be cured and be able to live a normal life without any worries of death and be loved by everyone just like how my parents loved me...And as though fate was mocking my foolish thinking my condition became more serious after just a month of my parents death and had to stay at the hospital cutting myself off from the outside world.

Fortunately Dr.Lee who was treating me became my guardian after my parents death.He spent most of his money on me for my recovery.And finally when the day of my fateful surgery was approaching he was met with a disaster. His brother-in-law who was a gambler had numerous debts and unable to pay them back he tried to sell his wife.

  But Dr. Lee who loved his sister paid back the debts of his brother-in-law and saved his sister from being sold.The cost of that was he came penniless and could not pay for my surgery.Everynight when the moon was high up in the night sky he would come to my room when I'm asleep and hold my hand and cry saying-"My dear, I'm very sorry! My sister was my only relative,she's very precious to me and I couldn't just watch her getting sold and mistreated, please forgive me..but don't worry I'll save you..I'll try to ask my co-workers and friends as much money as possible,you will finish your surgery successfully and live a normal life away from these hospital walls,so please just wait and don't give up".

Everytime I heard his hopeful words I wondered whether I would leave this hell and have a happy life. But things never work out as we wish. The day of my surgery arrived and Dr.Lee who was desperately trying to collect money for my surgery,failed.When I was taken to the operation theatre I could hear loud commotions. When I slightly opened my eye I could see Dr.Lee pleading to the doctor to perform my surgery and he would pay the money on a later date.

The stubborn doctor refused to perform my surgery after all of Dr. Lee's pleas. Heart broken, he came to me with a teary eye and said-"I'm sorry Liz,I'm useless, your parents entrusted you to Me and I couldn't even take care of you nor pay for your surgery".Looking at him crying I replied-"It's ok..I'm fine if I die...even if... I'm alive.. I wouldn't know what to do, my loved ones have already left me alone".

Dr.Lee who heard my words stuttered and started bawling his eyes out.And just when I was accepting my cruel fate of death..suddenly,a couple whom I've never seen before even after spending most of my time in the hospital appeared..both of them must have been in early forties, pale skin more like foreigners arrived and said-"We would like to pay for her surgery and her medical fees! ".

Dr.Lee who was startled at first quickly brought himself together and spoke to them and after a while left the room.Just as a few seconds passed after Dr.Lee and the couple left the room a nurse who was medium sized,dark complexion skin approached me and injected anaesthetics on me and started the preparations to take me to the operation theatre.

The couple and Dr.Lee spoke to each other on the way to the operation room, but I couldn't exactly interpret any of their words as the anaesthetics were starting to take effect on me.I thought to myself-'It's alright, maybe God pitied me and is allowing me to live a little longer...... 'but never did I know that this was the start of my new life.My vision became fainter and fainter as we reached the operation theatre and the surgery finally began.

Dr.Lee who went outside the room with the couple was viewing them as a saviour.

"Are you really going to pay for her medical fees?!"

"Yes,we heard everything from her nurse"

"What did she tell you? "

"She spoke about the unfortunate girl who was trapped in this hospital for years and her parents who passed away several years ago. We were just passing by when we heard loud noises and upon asking the nurse said you were making a fuss regarding her medical fee".

"........."

"You don't have to worry about it,it's great

enough of you to care for a child who is not even related to you without expecting anything in return.We have also decided on one more thing"

"What may that be?"

"We would like to adopt her".

"Pardon!?"

"It would be best for you as well as her if we take care of her,you do not have to worry, we will take care of her as our own daughter".

"It's not about how well you take care of her. Well.. it's about whether she will live happily or not. Her parents asked me to take care of her before they left this world and as her guardian I have to know more about yourselves and your background before I hand her over to you"

"Yes, that's true.So,our name is Aaron Chester and Rosie Chester. We are also the owner of this hospital"

Dr. Lee who was surprised -"Chester.... You mean K group's president and the owner of our hospital! "

"Yes. "

"Huh!.... ok.... alright...! but why would you want to adopt her when she has nothing to give you in return? "

The Chester couple smiled at his awkward question and answered -"Have you ever taken care of her till now expecting anything in return from her? "

"No! "

"Then the same goes with us,we don't expect anything in return, we just want that child to live a happy life, besides my wife and I did want a daughter so it's fine".

"Oh... ok then, but... even though I've concented for her adoption Lizabeth's opinion holds utmost value so please do ask her first,if she says ok then I agree".

"Yes,we will"

When I woke up from my sleep Dr. Lee was already next to me.When I asked him for how long I've been unconscious after the surgery he said It was three days.The corners of his mouth were wide from happiness and he hugged me slightly enough so that I wouldn't feel uncomfortable and said-

"Liz, you have finally recovered completely, you don't have to stay in the hospital anymore, you will be able to return home within a few days after your kept under observation"

"Oh.... "Dr. Lee's words didn't exactly surprise me or made me happy.l just thought that the couple kept their word and paid my medical fee.'Home' do I even have one...even if I did have it isn't like anyone's waiting for me to return.The only ones who would want me to recover wholeheartedly my parents left me behind alone...it just breaks me every time I think about it. Dr. Lee who saw my blank expression asked

"Liz, why aren't you happy? "

Dr. Lee who looked at my worried expression asked-

"Liz, why aren't you happy?"

"Dr. Lee,it's not that I do not feel happy,when you said I could return back to my home,i was wondering what kind of home you were talking about....a home... is a place where someone who loves you,who cares for you, is waiting for you to return,a place where you feel happiness and content...but.. There's no one who's waiting for me at my home".

Dr. Lee who heard my words looked at me with an empty expression and continued-"I do have something to discuss with you regarding that matter".

"What matter?" I asked looking puzzled

"Once you are free from here you are going to have a new home ,a place where everyone would welcome you wholeheartedly"

"What?"

"Do you remember the couple who told that they would pay for your medical fee?"

"Yes, I do! how could I forget them"

"So the thing is....they said that they would like to adopt you"

"Huh?! "

"Don't be so shocked,i spoke to them,they are good people and they are also the famous Chester family who are also the owners of this hospital"

"Why would the Chester family want to adopt someone like me??!!"

"When I asked this question, they just said they would like to have a cure little daughter like you ".

"Ohh.... so what did you say when they asked you? "

"I did reject at first but when I heard their sincere words I felt it was more suitable for you to live with them rather than being alone... but.. I did tell them that it would be better if they ask your opinion first.So..what are you going to do? "

"Hmm.... I...would like to be alone for sometime"

"Alright"

Dr. Lee then left the room with the room turning silent again, but that overwhelming silence was engulfed by my deep thoughts.'Adoption me?new Home?'all these words doesn't make sense at all.It took me awhile to organise my thoughts.'Why would they want to have me as their daughter?' 'Why me?'...hundreds of questions popped inside my mind and when I was busy searching answers for my questions,the door suddenly opened and Dr. Lee along with the Chester couple entered the room.

The couple looked at me with a warm smile and just with that one gesture I was assured that I would lead a happy life if I choose to be with them, but somewhere inside my heart there was anxiety,fear that I would betray my parents who loved me dearly if I choose them.The lady who saw me stepped forward and said-

"Dear, could we speak personally with you for a minute? "

"Huh?.... oh yes... " I answered with hesitation.

She glanced at Dr. Lee asking him if we could have some private time.Dr.lee looked at me and blinked at me saying good luck and left the room.
