Under The Scarlet Sky

The King's Death

It was already dusk when I and my comrades headed back to our beloved kingdom to celebrate after a victorious war in invading another land in Namiya. As we arrived, the people in the kingdom immediately gathered around us.  And as they gathered around, I noticed something strange. I didn't see my father sitting at his thrown like he used to do.  I immediately reached out to my father's butler to ask him a question. I asked him with a worried tone in my voice. "Where's my father?"

He answered, and I can feel the sorrow in his voice as he answered. "The King is already dead my Lord." As I heard the butler's answer, I then immediately rushed towards my father's bedroom. And when I reached there I could hear my mother crying. And as I opened the door, I was completely shattered by what I just saw. A bed soaked in my father's blood, a beheaded body of him laying on his bed peacefully, and his head hanging in the window facing towards his villagers. I don't know what to do about what I just saw so I didn't notice that one of my greatest warriors named Raiden was already behind me. He tapped my shoulder to catch my attention before he told me something.

He said, "My Lord the General of Kindayo has arrived in our kingdom."

"Let him in," I replied. "Yes, my Lord," he said.

He then walked away heading to the general to let her in.

As Raiden walked away to let the general of Kindayo in the palace, I slowly walk towards my mother and cupped her face to wipe her never-ending tears for my father.

As I did that my mother told me something, something that made me longing to take revenge for my father's death.

She said, "Before your father's death, there was a strange man who entered our kingdom and was very eager to see your father. But the guards of the palace didn't grant his wish so he killed them all. And after he did that, he headed to your father's room where your father was peacefully sleeping."

My father's butler had arrived to tell me that the general wanted to talk with the King, but the King was dead.

"The general wanted to talk with the King but the King was already dead my Lord, what should we do?" he said.

I replied, "I will be the one to talk to the general." "Yes, my Lord," he replied.

I assessed my mother to get up while she was still crying in my father's cold arms.

"Nate, please help my mother to her room so that she can take some rest," I said.

He nods as a sign of compliance. "By the way, where's the general right now?" I asked.

He responded, "She's in the leaving room right now my Lord."

I then started walking towards the leaving room to grant the wish of the general. As I was walking, I was still bothered by What ifs from what my mother just told me earlier.

I asked myself, "A strange man? Who could that man be? Who is he?!"

After a few minutes, I finally reached the leaving room and entered there. I then sat next to Kenzo, the Master Chief General of Kindayo.

As I glanced at the people sitting on the leaving rooms couch, I couldn't find the general of Kindayo anywhere. I looked for him but I could only see Kenzo the Master Chief General of Kindayo, Hanzo the Chief General of Kindayo, some of the General's bodyguards, and a girl. As I saw her my world almost stopped spinning. Her pale skin is as white as snow, her lips are as red as cherries, and her eyes, her eyes are as precious as emeralds. Her incomparable beauty immediately captivated my attention. But, wait! What if she's the general's fiance? or what if- what if she's the general? Wait, what am I even talking about?! I'm too confused right now, I guess I'd better ask Nate about this so I won't become more puzzled.  Luckily he's just beside me.

"Nate, who's the general of Kindayo?" I whispered to him.

"Say again, my Lord?" he said while a floored reaction was displayed on his face.

I whispered to him once again, "Who's the general of Kindayo?"  He responded, "Her name is Kitana Suruyo, my Lord.

The only female general in history here in Shunji, she's right in front of you my Lord."

I gazed at her once again and I was stunned as we made eye-to-eye contact with each other.

I didn't expect that she was already looking at me. She cleared her throat in a way to capture our attention.

"General Vale, may I ask you a question?" she said.

I respond, "Yes you may General."

"Where's the King of Namiya, General?" she asked.

I replied, "The beloved King of Namiya was already dead general." I can see the dismayed reaction in their eyes.

"How exactly did the King die?" she asked with a confused tone in her voice.

"The King's bed was soaked by his blood as his body is laying in there peacefully while his head was hanging in the window facing towards his villagers," my voice was full of sorrow as I replied to her question.

She asked me once again "Did a strange man want to see the King before he died?" I nod, how exactly did she know that?! does this mean-?

The General's Meeting

*Kitana's p.o.v*

Just like the recently reported deaths in Mashima. A strange man\, they only have the same killer. Whom could his next target be? Is he even playing with us by murdering innocent people in this country?! *clinches fist.*

*Hanzo's p.o.v*

They'd better hurry, if the pieces got completed, it's already too late for them to save their dying world.

*Kenzo's p.o.v*

Kitana, I promise to take care of your heart. Ugh! what's wrong with me?! I'd better tell her about my feelings, but what if she just rejects me?

*Vale's p.o.v*

That strange man should be a pro-killer to take down all the palace guards who didn't grant his wish. Those guards were trained well before they started serving this palace. The King's dead body was not even bruised. The neck was cleanly cut by a samurai. Wait, where's his front tooth? My eyes were wide open as I remembered that my father's front tooth was missing.

*Nate's p.o.v*

The prophecy, don't tell me they already started making their plans into reality. The King was right, one of the dark hands might be the one who killed the King. Those bastards should stop killing innocents. Are they even thinking about what would happen if they do that?!

-After a while of silence, one of them finally started talking about the cause of the death of the King.-

"My Lord, I think I already knew who killed the King," Nate said. We were completely shocked when we heard what Nate just told us. "Who?" I asked him with a courageous tone in my voice. "The dark hands, my Lord" he responded. "Those motherfuckers! I knew it! We better find those bastards right away so that no more innocent people will die," she said loudly without any hesitations to find them. I was amazed by her courage and dedication to protect the innocents from dying.

Later that day we decided to find the hideout of the dark hands. Right now we are in the middle of the night still searching for the dark hands. But we didn't find any clues so we decided to ask some of the civilians in the lower mainland of Namiya. Some declined to answer the question and some just ignored us. Until a middle-aged man finally answered our question.

"General, I've heard about the continuous deaths in Namiya, Kindayo, and Mashima. Thanks to the goddess of Hope for your arrival," he said.

There's another death in Kindayo?! What does this even mean?"Do you know who's the ruthless killer?" I asked with an eager tone in my voice.

He responded, "Yes general, his name is Elias Everlou. The killer behind the continuous deaths in Shunji."

"Do you know where's his hideout?" I asked.

He responded, "At the Futo forest, but. General, be careful in that forest."

"Why?" I asked with a curious tone in my voice.

He responded, "Because of the white snake." White snake? What does he mean?

*Nate's p.o.v*

The white snake? "Wait, do you mean that the legend was real?" "Yes sir," he responded. Is he even serious? The prophecy didn't mention those details. Elias, Futo forest, and a white snake? those are not even connected in the prophecy. I guess he was paid by the dark hands to give us false information. Those bastards think they're wise enough to trick me! If I were the king's son they would have died a long time ago, yet, I can't do anything about it because that's what was written in the prophecy. But, I can still stop those motherfuckers!

"Nate, what's with the white snake?" Vale whispered to me.

I responded, "Haven't you ever heard about the legend of the white snake my Lord?"

He just shook his head innocently.

*Sighs* here we go again\, another storytelling. How did he even become a general by the way? Of course\, he's the King's son I forgot. "Well\, you don't have any other choice mi amor\, but to grant every wish of your prince\," I say to myself. "Okay\, here we go. Btw\, do you want the whole story or just its's summary my Lord?" I asked. If I was him\, of course\, I'd just ask for its summary. Why did I even ask that prince if he wanted me to tell him the whole story? *Tsk!*

"The whole story Nate," he said.

*Ugh!* This prince is just too annoying yet innocent. *Grins* I'll just tell him the summary\, I don't care\, he's wasting all our time by just listening to fairy tales. Why did I even become his butler?! Chill\~\, you still have a story to tell.
