Taekook: A Twisted Lovestory
Prologue
Love can be confusing: What seems like love may not be love, and what seems like a liking or a crush, might turn to love.
It was mid monsoon. The sky looked like a dull canvas with callous splatters in greyscale, which were nothing but irregular clouds. The moist, warm air made the skin feel sticky, and the gentle breeze that gathered all grey clouds to one end of the horizon, indicated the impending downpour.
Taekook stood alone at the edge of the terrace, leaning over at the metal railing peering over at Jimin, who's walked into the college cafè with his girlfriend, Rosè.

Jungkook-ah..
He dawdled in a rather careless tone and it sounded as if Jungkook could hear it or rather ignore it— It didn't matter either way.

Have you sorted out your feelings yet?— or, are you still gon' hide?
He said monotonously, looking down upon the couple who disappeared inside the cafè, eyes as dull as the sky. Jungkook sighed.

I don't know anymore..

It feels so fast-paced, so rapid as if am at a standstill and the world just sped up, time appeared to have just flew by..
Jungkook sighed again. It happened everytime he poured out his mind, he'd go breathless and in a state of choke-hold..

Taehyung took support of the grill and stared at the sky, without uttering a single word. He sighed closing his eyes that had now gotten misty- just like the rainclouds above. He looked indeed stressed, and miserable.

Tae looked at him and let out a small chuckle, this was almost their routine now, ranting to each other about their crush and their miserable lovesick souls. Ironically enough, "their crush" was the same person, Park Jimin: Jeon Jungkook's maternal cousin and Kim Taehyung's bestfriend..

You can't even imagine how much I love him, how many times I tried to tell him everything. But—

But, I'm afraid that it will ruin our friendship, we'll become distant, he'd start avoiding me-

I can't compromise such a friendship. I can't lose a friend like him because of my selfish feelings, can I?
Tae looked at him with tear laced eyes, the shinning beads threatening to escape from the corners. Jungkook immediately pulled him into a hug and patted his back, looking at the sky which had now started to paint itself in a darker shade of grey..

Tch- (scoffs) Go tell him then, fulfill your selfish desires– it's easy, isn't it? Go—
Jungkook tightens the hug and nuzzles his face into Tae's neck. He knew he couldn't do that. He knew it wasn't as easy as it sounded. He knew, being selfish for him- for both of them, was hard enough. He dodged Tae's witty reply and changed the topic.

Hyung, I think we should head home now, it feels like it's gonna rain..
Kim Taehyung
Let's say bye to that puppy lover (Jimin) before that..

(chuckles) Let's go then..
Taekook came down from the college terrace and headed towards the cafe. Taehyung pushed the door as an abrupt whiff of the AC hit both their faces from the top and they went inside. Taekook noticed Jimin and Rose sitting at one of the window-side tables, Jimin's facing them, and from where they were standing they could see Rose..
He was laughing, his crescent eyes gave them the hint as his face was getting reflected on the glass window beside them. Rose was laughing along, their hands intertwined over the table, playing. Taekook sighed internally and approached the couple.

So at that time as I stepped out of the room I saw the table turned over and the vase broken..haha..
Park Rosé
Hehe, I guess you had to clean that all up?!
Park Jimin
No I had Jungkook and my neighbor's help.. and damn! That @sshole neighbour! He asked for a payment! how rude..
Jimin, who appeared to be narrating a hilarious incident to his girlfriend, felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around, only to see Taekook. A smile flashed across his face making his cheeks perk upwards, Taekook also reverted with the same smile.

Oh hey Tae and kookie! Heading home already? Have some pastries with us..
Kim Taehyung
Thanks for the offer chim! but some other day, me and Kook have some work back at home so heading early (a forced smile and glances at Rose)

yeah hyung! You might as well go early as the weather is not that good..

Aww I wished u spent some time with us..

Jimin waved dramatically as Taekook walked away from them waving back slightly, Rosè gave them a smile and waved as well. Once they came out of the cafè, a rumble of the clouds was heard, Jungkook and Tae walked back to their shared apartment, leaving the two love birds alone..
They were hiding feelings, bottling them up for a good amount of time and only had each other to share the heartache. Only had each other as an emotional support. Only had eachother who felt the same pain, the same desperation, the same feelings for the "same man!"
This is no story of a love triangle, this is about two people struggling with the stigma that love brought alongwith it. Taehyung, with the stigma of stepping on their friendship to approach Jimin, and Jungkook, with the stigma of falling for someone of his own blood. Neither is aware of the outcome of their disastrous love, 'cause— it only gets more and more twisted..

The Introduction
Taehyung and Jungkook returned to their shared apartment and went into their separate rooms.. opposite to each other. The two doors closed simultaneously.. and the two broken souls sighed in unison..

Is my life going to continue just being a bestfriend of chim? I want to be more than that to him!

(exhales) Today's day ended! I wonder how long I have to put on this pretence of being just a lil brother to Jimin hyung..
Tae and JK both finished their pending assignments and it was almost time for dinner. The two of them came out of the room and went to the kitchen, one grabbing the ingredients from the fridge and the other lighting up the stove..
They used to cook dinner together..

They had their dinner silently without a single word spoken and slipped under the bed sheets of the single bed..
The apartment was such that, at the end of the corridor was the bedroom and on either sides of the corridor were their respective rooms.. they shared the bed
The next morning Jungkook woke up early and made the coffee for both of them and stood beside the balcony looking at the distant buildings, sipping the hot liquid from time to time and exhaling after every gulp..

*slurp* hyung! wake up, it's getting late, we have to go to college..
Tae was sleeping peacefully with no sign of worry, Jungkook went closer to the edge of the bed and caressed his hair, Tae nudged a bit half awake..

hmm I'm up (sat on the bed with his eyes shut and Jungkook handed him his coffee)
After doing their morning routine and having breakfast, the two of them got ready for college.. Taehyung wore a maroon sweater along with jeans and put on a blue beret hat.. while Jungkook wore a denim jacket over his white sweater and wore a blue beanie..
Taekook were at the College entrance when they saw Jimin.. their crush.. waving at them and gesturing them to come towards him..

I'm great! oh wait for sometime, I'll just go and meet Rosè.. (smiles and flees from the two)
Jimin runs over to a group of three girls, one among which was Rosè.. Taekook eyed Jimin and mentally rolled their eyes..

Ha! oppa! good morning! (smiling ear to ear)

good morning Rosie! (with crescent eyes)

oppa they are my friends Lisa and Jennie (they wave at jimin and say hi)

hi Jennie and Lisa, nice to meet u..
Lisa and Jennie said "nice to meet u too Jimin oppa" in unison..

Wait I'll introduce you guys to my friends as well (he waves to Taekook who were standing at a distance)
Meanwhile when Jimin went towards the girls, with Taekook..

They went to their separate classes...Jungkook was separated as he was in 2nd year and Jimin and Tae were in 3rd year..
The Past
There's no past tense in loving someone, it's either you always will or never did, love is an eternal process..
Taehyung was the school prince in highschool. However, girls maintained their distance from him because of his cold personality and "I don't give a shit" attitude..
The reason for his cold behavior had a direct connection to his dislike towards girls, or maybe one or two of them, but he chose to rather be "just friends" with females, and thus became a proud gay later on..
Only Jimin and he himself knew why he maintained a distance with girls, as the saying goes, one bad experience makes you never want to let someone that close again.. so was Taehyung's case..
A few months back Tae and Jimin went to the library to get some notes. The duo went inside and found that almost all the seats were occupied and the only option for them was to read at the counters provided adjacent to the windows..
Taemin were looking for a particular book which they would have required to finish their project, while Taehyung was looking through the shelves Jimin noticed that book in the hands of a girl, who seemed to be elder than them and Jimin decided to ask..

umm excuse me, but can u give the book to us for sometime, we will return it in 5 minutes.. (politely)

Yeah, sure.. please return it quickly (smiles)
Taehyung noticed Jimin taking the book and joined him while they thanked the girl, and in the meantime Taehyung noticed the girl's name in her ID card which lay over some of her notebooks..
It read Somi.. and above her name was the name of her university. But before Taehyung could read her family name, she grabbed her card and shoved it inside her bag and got up from her seat, intending to get some other book..

yes we will be quick, thanks a lot
But little did Tae and Jimin know that Somi did her job already, which could have altered Tae's life into disliking girls..

Hey Jimin! This book doesn't have some middle pages.. (says worriedly)

hmm let's ask the librarian..

But that's a new book, wait a second, this book is the one that got stolen a week ago! Where did you two get it? Or perhaps you stole it?
The receptionist accused the duo, as the two of them immediately nodded as a no, but the receptionist's tone alarmed the other people inside the library making Taemin the centre of attention..

No ma'am there must have been a mistake, we didn't steal it, we got the book from the girl over there ( he looks to see that there was no one) but where did she go?
Park Jimin
yes ma'am he's right.. (supports Tae)
Receptionist
But there's no one, I guess u youngsters like playing tricks with us?(really annoyed) but you can't trick me, either pay the penalty or be ready for a visit to the police..
Kim Taehyung
But.. but that's unfair
Receptionist
Look mister ! none of us want to see the face of the police so just do what I say and pretend nothing happened..
By that time, people had started whispering among themselves and were giving Taemin weird glances.. Taemin didn't want to create a scene over there, so they decided to pay the penalty anyway, although they didn't do anything..

Let's do it Tae, we are at disadvantage anyway, I guess we have enough money (said softly)
Kim Taehyung
But Jimin (tries to prove himself but pauses) ok fine.. Ma'am, how much is the penalty?
Kim Taehyung
(whispers to Jimin) Chim.. I only have 20000₩ where should be get the rest of the money?
Park Jimin
Wait I'll ask appa to give me some in my card.. (tries to pull out his phone)
Jimin looks at his bag to find that he didn't have his phone, he looks at Taehyung in a pleading look (talking with eyes I don't have my phone)
Taehyung understands and calls his father instead (his father is very strict with him)
Although Tae could have told Jimin to use his phone instead to call his dad, but at that what of the moment none of them could think straight..

Hello appa, can u please transfer 10000 won to my card I really need it! (pleads)
Mr.Kim gives him a good scolding but transfers the money eventually, Taehyung knows that he won't be spared when he gets home..

The librarian gives them the swipe machine and Taehyung transfers the money to the library's account. After the process, Taemin weren't in a mood to look for the study material they were looking for..

Jimin went back and after sometime Mr.Kim came home giving death glares to Taehyung, after dinner he called Tae from his room and..

So what did u do with the 10000₩? I am pretty sure you didn't use that for your studies..
Mr. Kim's voice echoed through the four walls of the hall, Tae stood in front of his parents looking down at his feet and fidgeting with his fingers..

Stop your blabbering, I have experienced that too many times in my teaching career, looks like u have to be disciplined.

He lied on his bed, pulling the sheets over his head and clutched onto his pillow tightly before sobbing into it.. The pillow was drenched with his tears, but his parents weren't ready to hear his part of story..
Teenage is a dangerous phase of life indeed, but in Taehyung's case, his parents were imagining all sorts of bad influences that Taehyung might have indulged himself into, and thus even without proper understanding of their child, they kept on blaming him..
