"The Path of the Saint," a novel that won first place in the fantasy of times category on the world's most important novel platform.
It was an adult novel that had a great impact and was truly a work of art, as it completely broke the stereotype of the typical protagonist who reincarnates in a novel as the villain, the outcast, or some despised character destined to die.
In this novel, the protagonist, Alina, was a real bitch who reincarnated into a fantasy world, but it wasn't the world of any novel or something like that. She, being a con artist in her past life, decides to take full advantage of her talent for scamming to make a fortune and live a life of luxury. Unfortunately, things never go as she wants. That world was a fantasy, but it wasn't like novels and tales. There, the laws were insane and a person's worth was defined by their social status. The protagonist, who was reborn as an abandoned baby in an orphanage, is sold as a slave when she turns five. Fortunately, she manages to escape from her buyers, and that's where she uses her freedom to start using her scamming ability, resuming her initial plan of becoming rich.
By scamming the nobles, she somehow ends up entering the imperial palace, pretending to be a foreign princess whom she kidnapped and impersonated.
Enjoying the luxuries provided in the palace as an honored guest, Alina ends up meeting the crown prince, Leon, who is the male protagonist of the story.
Leon is captivated by the protagonist at first sight, and Alina, being aware of this, decides to take advantage of him, seducing him until he is completely lost for her. Leon becomes her loyal dog and does whatever she asks, from buying expensive jewelry and dresses to killing anyone who bothers her in the palace. Leon is capable of anything for her. He is that type of character willing to face the world for his beloved, and that's why all the readers came to love the kind prince whose true nature is that of a cold and ruthless being. Moreover, his appearance is excessively sexy and passionate, and in intimacy with Alina, he is a true unashamed stallion. How could one not love a character like that?
Alina is a rather egocentric and manipulative character who uses everyone at her disposal, but as in every novel, she at some point begins to have feelings for Leon. Up until that point, things still seemed to be in her favor. She decided to give herself the chance to love and be loved, but then tragedy strikes.
Leon is the victim of an assassination attempt and is on the verge of death. Desperate and not knowing what to do to save her beloved, Alina ends up awakening her dormant power, the most powerful healing power in the world granted by God to only one person. The person most beloved by God, the closest and the only one capable of speaking to Him – that person is the saint.
Alina learns many things in that world, and the one thing she never wished for was to be in the saint's shoes. The saint was the symbol of the temple, a person stripped of their freedom whose only duty was to be the puppet that the temple used to maintain its power and authority.
And when a saint awakened, it meant that the previous saint had died. So, the temple would try to find her as soon as possible to make her their new puppet.
And now that Alina had awakened as the saint and had saved none other than the empire's crown prince from death, the whole world would know this fact, and the temple would be no exception. Therefore, with all the pain in her soul, Alina decides to flee immediately.
She loved the prince, but she loved herself more and was not willing to lose her freedom for anything in the world.
This is how Alina ends up arriving in the territory of the great northern duke, the villain, Christopher.
Alina enters the mansion of the grand duke as a maid, who is known as the cursed demon due to a curse that took away his sight since childhood. A person who never received anything but abuse and mistreatment from everyone. When he was a child, his parents died and since he couldn't take care of the territory, his uncles took charge of managing the territory and looking after him until he was able to inherit the title of grand duke. But his uncles had no plans to give anything to the cursed child and all they did was abuse him and treat him like a dirty animal, as they couldn't kill him because only a direct descendant could inherit the title of grand duke.
And in order to take over the title, Christopher's uncle promised him to his adoptive daughter, Eliza, whom he adopted as a replacement for his deceased daughter because of her resemblance, but after a few years, he had another daughter and started treating Eliza like an illegitimate child who received nothing but mistreatment, even from the servants. She was almost in the same situation as Christopher. Eliza was engaged to Christopher with the mission of getting pregnant and giving birth to an heir, so they would kill Christopher and raise their child to be a puppet that would allow them to have the title of grand duke in their family.
Unfortunately, for them, Christopher was not a fool and as someone who never knew affection, when he came of age, the power of his lineage awakened and he massacred everyone in the mansion, taking control of his territory and earning the title of the cursed demon.
Upon getting to know him beyond fearing him, Alina felt pity for him and as the only one who dared to treat him without fear, she became the only one who attended to him and took care of him without knowing the impact she was having on Christopher's life. Alina discovered that Christopher was a kind person despite his coldness and lack of emotions, and gradually they became close. This is how Alina decides to cure Christopher's curse and restore his sight, giving him the opportunity to see the world again. Upon seeing her for the first time, Christopher becomes even more fascinated by Alina, but unfortunately, it was a one-sided love as Alina only saw him as a friend and was unaware of the obsessive beast that had been awakened.
Things go wrong for Alina when the temple finds her and to avoid problems with the cursed demon, they decide to kidnap her when Christopher is not at the mansion.
This is when everything goes awry and they end up awakening the wrath of the obsessive demon. Christopher knows that it was the temple who took away his beloved, so without hesitation, he attacks the main headquarters of the temple, unleashing a war between the temple and the grand duchy.
Christopher manages to rescue Alina but decides that the only way to protect her is by locking her up. Alina was too good for that shitty world, so he would take care of protecting her. Yes, Alina would be his alone.
This is where Alina realizes that she has fallen into the hands of an obsessive maniac and regrets choosing the mansion of the grand duke.
But Alina is no fool and just like Christopher, she has no scruples. She seduces him and takes him to bed, and in the midst of the act, she kills Christopher and escapes.
Just like the villain dies at the hands of the protagonist while they were having sex, worthy of an adult novel.
In the end, Alina seeks out Leon again and confronts him, asking how far he would be willing to go for her. Leon, without hesitation, tells her he would sacrifice the world to have her by his side. And Alina tells him that in order to be together, he had to destroy the temple and free her from the title of saint.
And so, it happened. Leon unleashed a war against the temple, which eventually resulted in the destruction of the temple after all the atrocities committed by the temple using the saints were exposed.
That is how Alina finally realized that the man she fell in love with was her safe place, and she ultimately surrendered herself to him, body and soul.
And there, the first part of the novel ends, and Alexa puts her phone down, satisfied with her reading.
It was really worth it, now I see why it's ranked number one in the world in its category. Damn, I loved the villain!! Rich daddy, I wish I could be Alina so that you would be obsessed with me! Too bad she died... poor thing, I would stay with him and take care of him and protect him so that he doesn't suffer anymore, my baby, I would make him happy... I hope they revive him in the second part...
Definitely, she will have to read the second part, but it will be tomorrow because she is very sleepy and is going to sleep.
Alexa closed her eyes and a few minutes later she fell asleep without imagining that an earthquake would destroy the building where her apartment was and she would die without even knowing it.
Alexa wakes up abruptly with her breathing accelerated and then tries to calm down by thinking that she had a nightmare, but at that moment someone throws a bucket of cold water at her, leaving her stunned.
"Eliza, you useless bitch!! When are you going to get up and do your chores?!!"
She hears the screams and turns towards the woman dressed in a maid cosplay, but what caught Alexa's attention was that this strange woman just called her "Eliza".
Then she looks around and realizes that this wasn't her room, she was in a place that seemed to be a damp basement with little light.
"Where the hell am I?"
"Aren't you listening to me, you wretched thing?!"
The strange woman shouts, and Alexa feels a strong blow to her head, realizing that the woman just hit her with an iron bucket.
Alexa touches her forehead and sees the blood on her hands.
"What the hell? First she throws water at me, and now she hits me?"
The best sniper in the state being hit by a crazy cosplayer? No one has hit her and lived to tell the tale.
Immediately, Alexa glares at the woman and she trembles under the cold gaze, instinctively stepping back, but not enough to prevent Alexa from lunging at her and knocking her to the ground, straddling her chest and immobilizing her arms by pinning them down with her legs.
"You're going to die, you crazy bitch," Alexa says, starting to punch the woman, who screams in terror. But Alexa doesn't stop and continues to hit her again and again until blood starts to splatter and the woman's face becomes unrecognizable. Still, she keeps screaming and writhing, but Alexa doesn't stop and begins to strangle her until the woman stops screaming and her body stops moving, indicating that she is dead.
Alexa stops and starts to look at her body, noticing something strange.
"Why is my body smaller than usual?"
She immediately gets up and searches the room for a mirror, finding an old and broken full-length mirror there. She looks at herself in it and becomes perplexed.
"What the hell happened to my body?"
She wonders, touching her face, which now resembles that of an eight-year-old girl.
Then she remembers that the woman called her Eliza before, and the characteristics that Alexa is seeing now perfectly match the description of Eliza, the strange woman murdered by the villain in the novel she just read.
"It can't be true, right? Did... did I become that Eliza?"
Hahaha... this is great... if I'm really Eliza then I'll be able to meet my beloved villain!!
Alexa, or rather, Eliza, can't help but jump with excitement knowing that she can meet that character who completely enamored her.
"My beloved villain... I will protect you."
Eliza fantasizes about Christopher being in her arms, saying in a delicate and scared tone, "Eli, protect me," and she replies in a brave and daring tone, "Don't worry, my love, I will protect you."
"Kiaaa!! How exciting!!"
At that moment, a maid abruptly enters the room and, upon seeing the dead maid on the floor with her disfigured face and the girl jumping excitedly in front of the mirror, becomes terrified and lets out a heartbreaking scream as she falls to the floor in fear.
"Oh, that's right, I just killed someone..."
It doesn't take long for the other servants to arrive and be terrified by such a brutal scene.
"Hahaha, what's the fear? That's nothing compared to what she deserved for daring to hit me," Eliza says, coldly looking at the terrified servants.
"From now on, anyone who dares to disrespect me will end up worse than that abusive bitch, understood?" Eliza threatens, running her finger across her throat, causing the servants to flee in terror, screaming.
"You're a monster!!"
"Murderer!!"
"We'll tell the grand duke!"
Eliza just laughs at their terrified faces, finding it amusing that they call her a monster when they have been the ones who abused and mistreated Eliza and Christopher for years. They all deserve death.
It doesn't take long for Christopher's uncle, Marko, who self-proclaims himself as the grand duke without having the title, to arrive and verify what his servants have informed him.
"What does this mean?" Marko asks, looking at Eliza with anger. Eliza looks at him with disgust, as if looking at the most disgusting being of all, angering him even more.
"Answer!" the man shouts.
"Are you blind? Can't you see that I killed her?" Eliza responds as if it's nothing.
"Insolent!" Marko approaches Eliza and slaps her hard, causing her to fall to the floor.
"Tsk, damn weak body," Eliza complains in her thoughts, "How I wish I could kill him, but I can't. Attacking this scum would be suicide right now."
"You don't know how much I regret adopting you, you damn beggar!"
"Oh, your words hurt me so much, sir," Eliza mocks, pretending to be hurt.
Marko turns red with anger and kicks Eliza in the ribs with such force that she crashes into the wall, leaving her breathless.
"Ugh, bastard... I will definitely kill you with my own hands."
"You ungrateful bitch!! If I didn't need you to carry out my plan, I would have thrown you out on the street like the beggar you are!!! Damn it!! I really want to beat you right now, but your body needs to be healthy to give birth to that damn bastard's child!!"
Marko sighs angrily as he rubs his forehead in frustration, cursing the moment he decided to bring that bastard here.
"It's true..." Eliza reacts, in pain. "You don't have to deal with me. Send me to Christopher right now and I will take care of him until we are old enough to marry and have a child."
Eliza proposes, standing up in pain, her hand on her ribs that luckily were not broken by the blow.
"Hahaha, you really are crazy... but if that's what you want, fine. From now on, you will have to take care of that damn bastard on your own... if you want to take care of him so much, you'll do it alone."
Marko mocks, immediately calling for some hesitant maids to enter the room.
"Take that bastard and bring her with her belongings to the residence of the damn bastard. I also want all the servants there to return immediately. My dear daughter will now be in charge of taking care of her future husband."
"Orden Marko," Marko orders with a mocking smile, and the servants also smile as they will now have the opportunity to avenge their friend. If they do it in the cursed child's residence, no one will notice, and they won't be blamed if something happens to that bastard.
"As you wish, my lord."
The maids immediately spring into action. One grabs Eliza and drags her out of the room, while the other goes to the small closet and gathers everything she finds, stuffing it into a sack. When she finishes, she leaves the room and follows the other servant, who is dragging Eliza by the arm.
"Heh heh."
Eliza can't help but smile, barely having come to terms with the fact that she transmigrated into the novel she had just read, and now she will take care of her favorite character.
She will definitely protect the villain and save him from his fate.
"I'm sorry for the protagonist, but Crish will be mine no matter who I have to kill..."
The servants drag Eliza out of the back of the mansion, walking a considerable distance until they reach a small house that was almost hidden. Just looking at it sends shivers down her spine because of how dirty and dark it looks.
"It looks like an abandoned house."
Eliza feels a bit angry remembering Marko's words. He said so boldly that he would dismiss the servants who take care of the place when this dump is more neglected and dirty than an abandoned house!
"I'm really going to kill those bastards who call themselves servants... after killing these bitches, I'll make those bastards pay who have mistreated my beloved villain since his parents died..."
It's time to start moving and carry out the plan to save her beloved villain.
The maids drag Eliza into the house, without any guards. They enter the first room they find and make sure there is no one inside before locking themselves in with Eliza.
The maid holding Eliza pushes her, causing her to crash onto the floor. Eliza grimaces in pain from the kick she received from Marko.
"Now you will regret hurting our friend, you bastard," the angry maid says, glaring at Eliza.
Eliza remains calm as she looks around the room, analyzing it. It resembles more of a storage room than a bedroom, but she notices something that will make things easier for her.
The maid tries to strike Eliza, but she swiftly evades the attack and runs towards a small table a few steps away. She grabs a pair of scissors covered in dusty and sets her sights on the maids.
The maids tremble before the gaze of the girl. It's not the gaze of a child; it's as if they are staring at a demon devoid of any sanity.
Though it's not far from the truth. Eliza, also known as Alexa, was a merciless killer, specializing in firearms and excelling as a sniper. She never failed a murder and never showed any mercy, regardless of the target. That's why she earned the nickname "demon of weapons." She appeared as an ordinary girl, but her true nature was that of a deranged psychopath who found immense pleasure in brutally killing her victims.
The maids sense the danger and instinctively retreat, attempting to escape. However, as one of them places her hand on the latch, Eliza pierces her hand with the scissors, pinning it to the door.
The maid releases a piercing scream of pain. Eliza giggles as she moves and rushes towards her, pushing the other maid aside to remove the scissors from the first maid's hand. She then buries the scissors in the right eye of the first maid, who screams in agony before Eliza retrieves the scissors from her eye and plunges them into her throat, preventing any further screams as she falls to the floor, desperately writhing.
Eliza retrieves the scissors once more, her eyes gleaming with delight at the sight of blood on them. She then fixes her gaze on the remaining terrified maid, who lies motionless on the floor, paralyzed by fear.
"I love that look," Eliza says, pleased, drawing near the maid who is unable to move or scream.
Eliza reaches the maid and runs the scissors gently along her cheek.
"The most pleasing emotion for killers... the fear of our victims..."
Consumed by fear, the maid faints, unable to withstand the piercing gaze of Eliza's blue eyes which reflect an abyss of madness.
"So boring... they mercilessly abuse children but are scared of one little murder... truly pathetic," Eliza mutters.
"Who's there?" comes a voice from the door, causing Eliza to instantly turn, feeling her heart race.
"It's really you..." she says, unable to believe her eyes.
Standing before her is a cute ten-year-old boy with jet-black hair and a bandage covering his eyes. It's him, she recognizes him. Christopher, the villain of the novel, her beloved.
"Who are you?" the boy asks coldly, as if he could see her.
Unable to see, his other senses are heightened, allowing him to easily perceive what's happening. The smell of fresh blood and other scents indicate a lifeless body and an unconscious one. They seem to be maids, judging by their odor. There is also a third individual, a girl, probably the murderer, based on her voice.
This doesn't surprise him. He couldn't care less about the lives of others. If he had the chance, he would personally kill each of the bastards who took what was rightfully his and now treat him like an animal.
"Oh, it's you!" Eliza exclaims, immediately moving closer, but the boy recoils.
"Don't be scared, I'm not dangerous, at least not to you," she says, keeping her distance.
"Who are you?" Christopher asks again.
"My name is Eliza, your future wife and the person who will take care of you from now on," Eliza says with a bright smile that Christopher can't see, but he can sense the excitement in her voice and even hear the rapid beating of her heart, so he knows she's not lying.
"Go away, I'm not going to marry anyone, especially not the daughter of that bastard. Leave if you don't want to die," the boy says coldly.
"Oh God! He's so cute! How can he be so cute?"
"Can I hug you?" Eliza asks, completely ignoring his words.
"Didn't you hear me?!! Get out of here now!!" the boy yells angrily.
"I can't do that, I'm the one who will take care of you from now on," Eliza responds.
"I don't need anyone to take care of me, so go away and go back to that bastard before he kills you!"
"Do you think you can kill me?" Eliza asks, and Christopher freezes because he's not dumb and even though he can't see her, he feels the danger that emanates from that girl.
"Did that bastard send you to finally kill me?" the boy asks.
"Of course not!" Eliza is shocked, she would never be capable of hurting her beloved villain.
"Don't lie! You just killed those maids! It's obvious that you're a murderer and you're here to kill me!"
"But I'm not lying," Eliza says, approaching the boy and caressing his cheek, causing him to shudder. They are both the same height despite their two-year age difference.
"I'm here to protect you. It's true that I am a killer, but I haven't come to kill you. I came here to kill everyone who has hurt you or will try to do so in the future," Eliza says, caressing the boy's soft cheeks with a smile on her face, filled with excitement.
"She's dangerous!" the boy thinks.
"Ha! Is this the new strategy of that bastard? Sending someone like you to gain my trust and then kill me?" the boy says, swatting Eliza's hand away.
"Oh, you think that scum Marko sent me? You're wrong!! I also want to kill that bastard, and I will, but right now I can't because you and I would be screwed," Eliza says, not wiping the smile off her face, enchanted by Christopher.
"Give me a more believable excuse, I may be a child, but I'm not an idiot. You better leave and stay away from me, or I'll kill you at the first opportunity," the boy threatens as he turns to leave.
Eliza only smiles as she watches him go. "How cute, is he really blind?"
"It may be a little difficult, but in the end, I will earn your trust, Christopher... my beloved villain. Together, we will conquer this world..."
Slowly, she will gain Christopher's trust. For now, she will rid this house of the rats...
"I can't allow the rats to continue bothering my cute villain..."
