A cheerful hummimg noise filled the dark street at night, a girl took bouncy steps towards her house, the soda cans inside the polythene jingled along with her steps.
While walking, her step got caught on something thrown on the street, making her stumble forward.
"What the—.." Her voice died down when she saw a human lying on the ground.
She carefully squated down beside the figure, making sure to keep her distance just to be safe.
"Excuse me, Mister, hello?" She shook him slowly, but he didn't seem to budge.
She sucked in a breath when she saw his bleeding forehead and busted lips.
'Dang, is he a gangster? Shit, should I just go? "
For a moment, she wanted to leave him there and go her own way, but her heart didn't agree with her mind.
"Sir! Hello! Wake up!" She tapped his cheek several times, but when he didn't wake up, she tapped it hard enough to create a sound.
Yeah, she slapped an unconscious man.
But to her surprise, he actually jerked his head to the side, mouth opening slightly before his eyes.
He saw a girl staring at him, even though the curtain of her brown hair covering the sides, her concern was obvious on her face.
He instantly sat up with a gasp, looking around him and scaring the girl to the ground.
"Where the hell am I?!" He glanced all around him.
The girl was still on the ground from the shock until she gulped down her fear and stood up, looking down at the man who seemed very distressed.
"Uh.. excuse me?" He looked up to her, glancing over her head for a second before focusing back on her face.
"Where am I?" He asked, finally calming down a bit.
"It.. it's the South B-23."
The guy let out a series of profanities under his breath as he covered his face.
"Are you okay..?" She asked again, getting an angered response from the guy.
"Do I look okay to you?!" She flinched back at the loud voice and bit her lips, deciding to turn back and run away from the man.
But before she could even take a step, he looked up straight at her. "I'm sorry.. didn't mean to scare you or anything,"
"It's.. okay.." She spoke but didn't make any further effort, neither towards the men nor to run to her house.
"Anyway, even though you didn't do anything, thank you, you can go wherever you were going," He gestured his hands over to her before falling back on the street, knowing very well he couldn't go anywhere, not in this state.
She furrowed her eyebrows. Who was this man to say she didn't help him? He would've still been passed out if it wasn't for her.
However angry she might be at the man, she couldn't just leave him after what she had witnessed.
"Do you want any help getting home?" The man opened one of his eyes to peek at the girl.
"You didn't go?"
'I should actually leave you after looking at your terrible attitude, but be grateful I'm being kind.'
She wanted to say all that, but she settled on repeating her previous question. "I asked; do you need help getting back to your home?" She smiled from outside but cursed the man in her head.
"No." And he turned away from her, using his hand as a pillow.
"You stubborn idiot." This time, she didn't hold back and went to grab the man's bicep to pull him up.
But there was just a small difficulty. A Grim Reaper is much more powerful than a mere human.
"What do you think you're trying to do?" He raised one of his eyebrows at her when she wasn't even able to move his hand.
"I'm trying to get your stubborn bum to a safer place than a street, so get up."
"And why should I do that?" The girl let out a frustrated groan as she slapped his bicep.
"I'm trying to help you here! You should be thanking me properly! But here you are acting like a stubborn kid!—" Her sentence was cut off when the Reaper got up in an instant and looked directly in her eyes, making her breath hitch.
She could be wrong, but for a moment, she thought she saw his eyes glow a dark shade of purple.
"Did I tell you to?"
"Huh?"
The Grim Reaper moved away from her face, "When did I ever ask for your help? And didn't your parents teach you that you should stay away from strangers? Why are you acting like you've known me forever, huh? Just get on with your way and forget you ever saw me here."
He tried to get back to laying on the street, but a tug on his suit's jacker prevented him from doing so.
He glanced at the hand on the jacket than at her face and immediately panicked through him.
"H— Hey! Why— why are you crying?!" The girl had her lower lip between her teeth while her eyes were filled with tears on being told off so rudely.
"I.." She sobbed, "I just want to help you—" Another two sobs, "But you keep denying me, what if you die here?! I can't live like that!"
For a moment, he almost wanted to laugh out loud. This human was worrying about a Grim Reaper being dead. How naive could humans be?
He would've just flicked it off if it was someone else, but somehow, he couldn't bring himself to do the same to this girl.
"Hey, what'll get you to stop all this?"
The girl looked at him with the same teary eyes before speaking, "Come to my home with me, I'll tend your wounds, then you can go wherever you want.."
He didn't want to, but he couldn't say no, and hence ended up agreeing to it.
The girl stood up first and held out her hand, while the Reaper took it just to keep her heart.
But just as he proceeded to place his left foot on the ground and applied pressure on it to get up, he was struck with an inevitable wave of pain that hit him like truck, back to the ground.
"Huh? What happened?" He glanced at her face once again, knowing very well she won't be able to support him.
But he can not even use his powers in front of the girl since she's a human.
He stood up once more, tolerating the pain in his leg with groan.
"Is your leg okay..? You seem to be in pain—" But he shook his head before she could speak further and just hopped forward.
"No, I'm fine, lead the way," She seemed unsure and wanted to offer more help, but she knew her capacity.
The girl took one step at a time to make sure the guy took his time in walking, too, since there was clearly something wrong with his leg.
"This is the apartment building I live in. There's a lift, and my room's just beside it, so you won't have to walk much now."
He nodded with a small pained smile and focused on keeping his left feet off the ground.
As they reached in front of a black coloured door out of many in between the pure white walls of the apartment. She put the password in for the door numbered as 411 while the guy was too busy looking around a human residency.
"Come in," She pulled him inside as his curious eyes scanned the whole place, a kitchen right on entering attached to a hall with a television in front, beside which two doors were present and two more on the wall perpendicular to it.
"Sit here, I'll get the first-aid kit." She pulled out a chair from the dining table and made him sit on it.
He was more than happy to finally provide his leg some rest after walking all around.
He heard a few crashes coming from one of the rooms, but he couldn't care less.
"Annika? What's all this noise?" Spoke a new voice emerging from the door beside the T.V. wearing purple silk pyjamas, her black hair flowing along even without the wind. Her face looked as if the god himself had carved with tender care, providing her sharp features. naturally curled lashes and a face without a single flaw.
But her beauty wasn't the thing that caught the Grim Reaper's attention. It was the writing above her head that made him stop functioning.
Age: 224
Species: Nine-Tailed Fox
Annika stepped back in the view with a first-aid box in her hands, "Oh Kiyora, you weren't asleep?" She walked over to the dining table and set the box on it.
"I was, but then I heard all the commotion—" Kiyora stopped talking when she saw an unfamiliar man sitting on the chair as Annika tended his messed up face.
"Who's this?" She walked closer, examining him closely with furrowed eyebrows.
"Oh, he was lying all beat up on the streets, so I took him here to clean his wounds." He hissed when Annika accidently pressed hard on the wound on his forehead.
"Ah, sorry."
'Does she think I'm some kind of a puppy?' He scoffed in his head but didn't say anything.
"He doesn't look homeless, judging from his clothes," Kiyora said, referring to the clothes the Grim Reaper wore, a black three-piece suit.
"Who the hell said I'm homeless?" Who does this low-class think she is to even think of him as someone who's homeless? Her eternal life could end just by the snap of his fingers.
"Dang, calm down, mister. I didn't say you were." She rolled her eyes as another door's click caught their attention.
"What's with all the commotion— Who is this beat-up thug?"
'Are all human this dumb—' He interrupted the thoughts in his head when his eyes went to scan the top of the newcomer's head.
Age: 112
Species: Werewolf
The guy wore a wonderful looking wolf cut on his head, his face unlike the girl's wasn't free of flaws, rather he wore a scar that ran from his right forehead, passed his bright golden eyes and ended on his cheek, aligning with the end of his nose.
'Ah, that's why.'
"Ah.. sorry Elikko, did I disturb your sleep?"
"Not only his, but ours too." Two more newcomers enter from two different rooms, one girl from the place where Kiyora came from and the guy from where Elikko came.
"I'm really sorry guys," Annika apologized, not looking at them, but rather focusing on the Grim Reaper's wounds.
But he did. He did notice all of them and the writing above their heads, too.
Age: 245
Species: Siren
He wasn't really surprised, just like the previous nine-tailed fox, this siren was exceptionally pretty with her long brown hair waved around her face covering the sides, her face a perfect heart shape with beautiful pink eyes enclosed in long curled lashes.
Age: 324
Species: Vampire
As his eyes landed on the vampire, he was already looking at him with wide, red eyes covered with the messy bangs above his boney and pale face.
"Guys, I'm sorry, but I found this man on the steets, and he looked pretty beaten up, so I felt bad and bought him here—" As Annika explained, the Vampire stepped forward, cutting her off.
"But you can't just bring anyone inside, Annika." He held a dangerous eye contact with the grim reaper while walking towards them.
"Azura's right Annika, he could be a murderer for all we know," It was Elikko this time, and he knew if anyone could differentiate him from humans, it would be those with an exceptional sense of smell.
"But guys I—"
"No, I know you're empathetic, but you can't just empathize with anyone you find on streets and bring him home. He could've done something to you on the way. Have you ever thought of that?!" Annika flinched back when Azura raised his voice, her eyes once more filling up with tears.
"Azura." This was the first time the Siren had spoken up, her voice threatening yet beautiful.
"You better watch your tone while talking. This is not the way you talk to Annika." She warned as she went over to the intimidated girl and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Annika didn't have any bad intentions, and no one can really do anything with us around. You do get what I mean, right, Azura?"
"I get what you mean very well, Blair, but what if he did something on the streets?! Do you not understand the seriousness of this situation at all?!"
"That's enough, Azura." Kiyora snapped at the vampire's direction. "You've said enough, and you aren't required to open your mouth once more. All that matters is that nothing happens. Can't you live with that?"
The Grim Reaper had had enough of these creatures talking so lowly of him. He won't just sit here accept the insults that are being thrown his way by the creatures much below than him. No, never.
His hand that slammed on the dining table was what paused the enraging argument in the apartment as every eye turned to him.
"I'm not in any of your's debt that I will sit here and just casually listen to all of you insulting me like this. I've had enough. I never asked for this girl to help me. And I still don't need someone's help." As he was about to stand up from the chair, Annika's hand on his shoulder stopped him from doing so.
He saw the same watery eyes that had pursuaded him to follow the little girl all the way to this place on a broken leg when he could've very well healed it with the powers provided to him.
"No, please, you— your wounds, I still haven't cleaned them.."
"You don't have to. These will be fine in a few days." They will be fine the second he runs his hand over them.
"But— your leg," She tried again. She didn't want the man to leave looking like that. When he looked, he could collapse any minute. Annika didn't want to keep any regrets in her heart, that she didn't help someone she could.
"It will be fine too. I better be off now." He kept in all the waves of pain that shot through his leg as it touched the ground, but he's sure. He will be fine once he gets to use his powers on it.
Annika watched helplessly as the man slowly stumbled over to the door with the support of whatever he could find. She wanted to stop him, but she couldn't.
She just watched as the guy grabbed the door knob, turned it, and just as she thought he was going to step out, he didn't.
Instead, he froze in his place for a second before falling on the ground with a loud thud like a puppet without a rope to support it.
♡♡
Thanks for reading the first chapter♡♡
As he turned the knob to step out of the place filled with low-class creatures trying to turn him into some kind of a murderer.
No. 206
He froze in his spot as soon as he heard the same breathy voice he has been hearing for decades swirling in his head. This can't be good.
As if a hand covered his eyes, his vision turned black and his body slumped on the ground.
"Shit!" Several curses were heard from different people.
Annika was the first one to reach the unconscious body on the floor, but even before she could touch it, Azura beat her to it.
"Wait," He spoke, glancing down at the body with a sigh, "I'll carry him to the couch."
She was unsure, but let Azura take the lead as he effortlessly picked the Grim Reaper up and plopped him down on the couch.
"Should we call a doctor or something..?" Annika asked, looking at the guy's face, whose wounds seemed to deepen on their own and bleed profusely.
"Why.. why are they— why are they bleeding more?!"
Azura sucked in a deep breath at the sight of delicious, glistening red blood that flowed from the Grim Reaper's wounds. He has never been allured by the blood of someone other than humans.. what's up with him now?
It looked appetizing to him. Nothing more aromatic has ever invaded his nose before this. How could he be effected like this by someone who's not even actually alive.
Elikko glanced over to him and kept a firm hand on Azura's shoulder, effectively bringing the Vampire back from the hypnotic trance.
"What happened?" Elikko whispered, while the girls tried to clean the Grim Reaper's injuries once more.
Azura didn't answered, he took one last glance at the red semi-liquid that was inviting him to feast on it, but with all of the self-control left in his body, he turned around and left the area, slamming his bedroom door shut.
The girls momentarily stopped to glance over to the slammed door before looking over to Elikko for answeres.
"What? You know about Azura and blood."
"Oh right, he has Hemophobia.." Annika stated, she did not know the truth after all.
"Annika, are you sure he only had injuries on his face..?" Annika stopped her actions and looked over at Kiyora for further explanation.
"Yeah, I didn't really see any injuries any where else.."
Kiyora didn't speak, she rather bought her right hand in the view, which was kept on the man's covered torse.
The other two gasped as Blair hurriedly unbuttoned the black suit coat and the same coloured shirt to reveal a long gash on his toned torso.
"I really think we should bring him to hospital." Annika stated.
Elikko's eyes widen. This can't happen. He knows for sure that this man wasn't a human, his scent was different, and him being admitted to a human hospital can't be good, those science filled humans would easily be able to tell that this unconscious man is different from them.
"No!" His loud voice halted the chaotic air.
"What do you mean no? He can die, don't you see the amount of blood he's losing?" Kiyora looked at her friend as if he had gone mad, but one exchange of look was all it took her to understand it was something more.
"I meant— that, we don't know who he is, if he turned out to be something— someone dangerous, we all could be tangled in a large mess.." Elikko did his best for explanation but Annika still didn't seem satisfied with it.
"Oh, he's right Annika, I'm pretty sure we can fix him for now, and ask him if he wants to go to the hospital when he wakes up, yeah?" Annika glanced back and forth from Elikko to Kiyora unsurely, but in the end she sighed in defeat.
"Well, if you say so.."
And they went to cleaning up his wounds and trying to patch him before the matters get worse.
Blair heaved out a breath of relief once they were done patching the still unconscious guy on the couch.
"Dude, I feel like i've performed some kind of surgery," Kiyora spoke up before removing the hair that covered her face.
"I still think we should get him checked by a professional." Elikko let out a groan as he got up from the floor and bought back a glass of water from the kitchen for Annika.
"Drink this and calm the duck down. He's fine." She did accept the glass, still staring at the unconscious guy who was now topless with a white bandage covering his lower torso.
"He has a cool tattoo though," Kiyora shrugged, referring to the skull on the man's left collar bone.
"I'm sorry!" Everyone's head turned over to the man who had just woken up from his deep sleep, panting like a dog in a chase with sweat covering him from head to toe.
"Hey, mister, you okay?" Blair spoke cautiously while forwarding her hand, unsure of what to do.
He let out a groan as he buried his face in his hands, when his eyes travelled down to his revealed body. He immediately forgot about the recent events and covered himself with his hands, wide eyes looking at the creatures in front.
"Who gave any of you the permission to take my clothes off?!" Annika gulped but slowly came forward, not ready to face the angry man.
"I.. you had a cut on your torso.." Only then did the Grim Reaper noticed the white cloth that covered him.
"Who screamed?" Azura walked out of his room, looking calmer than before as he walked in front of the man. "Was it you?"
"Why does it matter to you?" He looked done with everything, just wanting to get out of his misery.
"Anyway, I'm fine, and uh, thanks for whatever you have done—" As he tried to get out of the couch, he was stopped by a rough hand yanking him back.
"What do you think you're doing?" He asked the Siren who had a hold of his shoulder.
"We can't let you wander off in this condition." He glared at the female before shrugging her hand away.
"You are no one to tell me what I can and cannot do." He tried to get off again, but the Siren's grip tighten.
"We really can't let you wander off, Mister, you should understand that," The voice fell music to his ears, it was first time in a long he had heard something so beautiful other than the usual dreadful voice of Death.
He wasn't enchanted by it. But he stayed, just because his ears felt at peace due to the voice.
"Everything is settled then, Annika, you should go and sleep now, you have early morning classes tomorrow, don't you?" Blair spoke, turning to the girl in mid-yawn.
"Huh, oh yeah, but, how could I be sure they won't throw him out." She pointed to the two male who stood beside each other, ready to pounce on the man on the couch.
"We won't.." Azura sighed out, as Annika nodded in reply and walked towards her room, but a small bulb went off over her head and she turned back.
"How could I be so foolish?!"
"What?"
"Name! What's your name, mister?" He was caught off the guard with the sudden question thrown towards him out of the blue.
Grim Reapers don't have names, they have numbers. But he can't say that to a human.
"I.. uh.."
"Wait, don't tell me you lost your memory!"
"No!" He let out quickly before the girl could get any more bad ideas while looking around the whole room in an attempt to come up with a name.
"I'm.." His eyes caught Azura's and he blurted out without thinking twice, "..Silver!"
Azura stared at him wide eyed as his suspicion turned into confirmation. This was no ordinary human. How could he just look at him and come up with 'Silver' and nothing else.
"Silver, interesting name you have there. Anyway, I'm going to sleep, just scream out loud if any of them try to do anything to you, okay?" Silver gave a stiff nod as Annika went away.
As soon as they heard the lock of the door click, Azura and Elikko were on his throat, both squeezing it just enough to give him a hard time breathing.
"Who are you?" Azura growled, his eyes turning red, fangs enlarging and nails enlonging.
"You're not a human, are you?" Elikko snapped at him, his features turning into that of a wolf.
"I had my suspicions from that tattoo over there.." Kiyora spoke up, folding her arms over her chest.
"So? Who are you." Blair spoke up.
Silver let out a shaky breath as he kept his hands on those who were ready to murder him right at the moment. Even though it's pretty impossible.
"You think you are above me?" His voice started off as smooth and soft as if consoling a 5-year old.
"I, The Head Grim Reaper 206 is well above any of you lowlife creatures lurking in this world to feed upon the innocent." As Silver completed the sentence, his grip tighten around Elikko and Azura's wrist, his hands glowing in blazing purple colour.
"What.." Azura breathed out, it seemed like his throat was contracting.
"I.." Elikko let out, his hands falling off of Silver's neck.
"Can't.." Kiyora held her throat, falling on the floor.
"..Breath." Blair completed.
Immediately, the four of them were raised above the ground in the air, the same purple glow that was seen in Silver's eyes and hands, covered the whole room.
"Let us go.." Azura wheezed, suspended in air and clawing at his throat.
A sudden click caught Silver's attention as he quickly redeemed his powers, landing the four creatures back on their feet.
From a door, emerged a sleepy Annika, holding a blanket and a pillow.
"I forgot to give these to you.." She mumbled and handed the items to a frozen Silver and walked back, not paying her friends a single ounce of attention.
For a few moments, everyone kind of awkwardly stood around the living room, unsure of what they're supposed to do now.
"So. You're a grim reaper, huh?" Kiyora broke the ice, why? She doesn't know.
"No shit sherlock. He almost killed us just a few seconds ago." Elikko rolled his eyes, still rubbing his neck.
Silver scoffed, putting the items on the couch. "It was just to show you people who dared to talk ill about me."
Azura groaned out loud, "You Grim Reapers have too much pride gosh! That's annoying!"
"I have pride because I do something that's worth it."
"Killing people." Elikko spoke up, "What's so prideful about that?" Silver rolled his eyes and let out a humorless laugh.
"That's why you are categorized as lowlifes. I do not kill, I take them to the ubderworld where they can live off peacefully, or proceed to their next life."
"Snatching up loved ones. That's what it's called." Azura spoke up, him and Elikko high-fiving at the co-ordination.
"I am not gonna waste my time talking nonsense to you both." Silver placed the pillow on the couch's hand rest and unfolded the blanket, laying down on the couch.
"Good night." Silver snapped his fingers as all the lights in the living room switchen themselves off, providing the atmosphere he needed for falling asleep.
But before he could get some kind of shut eye, he was pulled up by his throat, in the blurry dakrness, the only thing visible was the blazing Red eyes of the Vampire who stood before him.
"We might let you go at this moment. But you dare to lay a hand on Annika. I'll drag you to hell, with me." Azura hissed, his long fangs a few inches away from Silver's face who was unfazed by this.
"Eh," He shrugged Azura off as his lips formed a pout. "I drag people there everyday, with me." Silver winked and turned his back towards the creatures, hiding himself under the covers 'til head.
Angered by the Grim Reaper's remarks, Azura stormed off with Elikko on his toe.
"What now?" Blair to the only creature who wasn't asleep.
"Sleep?" Kiyora asked.
"Sleep." Blair confirmed.
Living with those creatures, is that what you're gonna do now?"
Silver groaned out loud at the question, hitting his head against the hospital wall.
"I really don't want to." He murmured, not raising his head.
"Then why don't you just say no?"
Silver clicked his tongue in annoyance as he turned to his friend, "I can't!"
"What do you mean you can't?! You're a damned Grim Reaper!"
"You don't understand, J! I can't! That girl, everytime I try to decline her, she makes that face and it's like my body physically cannot utter out that two letter word 'no'!"
J stared at his friend as if he had gone mad, "Do you even hear what you're saying, A?!- wait, should I call you Silver now?" Silver shoved his friend to the side, who just laughed.
Their bubble was burst when the sound of wailing filled the quiet hospital coridoor.
"Ah.. it's time.." J stated, glancing over at the far end of the coridoor where people sat crying hysterically.
"Wait, mine or yours?" Silver asked as he looked at the purple band on his wrist and tapped it with his two fingers.
A purple hologram writing popped up as he touched the band.
81 years old
Janette Lauris
11:06 am
"Mine." Silver replied simply and pulled the hood of his cloak over his head, covering his face. The cloak which makes a Grim Reaper invisible to human eye.
"All the best!" J cheered, even though he didn't needed it.
Silver glanced at the crying family of the deceased once before entering the hospital room, unnoticed by everyone, except the soul of the old lady who no longer belonged to this world.
"Janette Lauris. 81 years old. Time of the death, 11:06 am." The translucent soul which stood beside it's body's bed, looked over to the Grim Reaper who had appeared before her.
She smiled lightly and willingly came to him and took his hand that was offered.
The Reaper took a deep breath, and in a moment, both stood inside what looked like the living room of a small house, decorated with a couch, in front of which was a little coffee table, a vase of green leaves over it.
The Grim Reaper took both of the soul's hands in his, "Look into my eyes," As the soul did it, 206's eyes glowed purple, sucking in every bit of memory inside the soul to judge her doings
"You've spent a worthy time on the Earth," He smiled and let go of the hands.
"You may proceed." The Grim Reaper lead the soul to a white door and opened it.
"These stairs will take you to your destination," In front were the stairs of Heaven, made with cloud. The soul smiled at the Grim Reaper before it went in.
It was his first client of the day, yet he feels worn out.
No. 206
'Ah, here we go again..' He quickly walked to the couch, not really wanting to fall on the ground, as soon as he reached the couch, darkness fell before his eyes while his body fell back.
When he opened his eyes again, he was back in the same dark room he was in yesterday, and has been for all these decades.
"Rise, my son."
In front of him, on a throne made of ashes, sat the most feared of all. Death.
He rose to his feet, but was immediately pushed down on his knees by an invisible force.
"You dare to raise your head after what you've done?" Death was nothing. All 206 had ever seen was a black cloaked figure, holding a scythe while red light glowed from it's eye sockets. He doesn't even know what's inside the cloak— not like he wants to know.
"Forgive me," 206 kept his head low this time, sitting on his one knee.
"Forgive you? I don't think I can." He didn't reply, knowing very well he'll end up digging his own grave.
"How is the progress?" 206 gulped, he has not even started, let alone make any progress.
"None yet." A loud growl shook the bricks of the wall as Death hit the base of his Scythe to the ground.
206 rose in air, red orbs forming around his wrists and ankles, almost pulling him apart.
"It should be done quickly, my son. Or else, you will see the consequences." Death pointed the tip of his Scythe towards his Grim Reaper, who screamed due to the electrifying pain running all over his body.
He could feel his skin being ripped open from several places in his body with the tingling sensation of blood trickling down.
His scream broke as he was thrown to the ground, barely able to hold himself up and coughing while curling into himself. Painting the ground red with his own blood.
"Go back."
He did, he came back with a loud gasp and the first thing he saw was, J.
"Been screaming for around 5 minutes now." Silver gulped in the saliva that formed in his mouth as he sat up on the couch, rather than being slumped.
He glanced down to his body, where he was already covered with even more bandages by J.
"I don't know what to do.." Silver groaned out as he rubbed his face with his hands.
"Hey, we can figure it out together, yeah? I'll help you, don't worry." Knowing his friend's distress, J got up from the stool and sat beside him before wrapping his arm around his shoulder.
Silver immediately buried his face on J's chest. J didn't protest, he let him stay there as a form of comfort.
J felt bad for his friend, a Grim Reaper isn't supposed to show empathy towards anyone, as, if the Grim Reapers started showing empathy, the world will be filled with numerous lost souls wandering on Earth.
They know they can't show empathy. The first time a Grim Reaper let out his empathetic side for a pathetic human being, he fell right into Death's 'Wanted list of Punishable Grim Reapers' and is still bearing the weight of what he did a few years ago.
And that same Grim Reaper is now sobbing on his friend's chest, filled with cuts and bruises of all sorts.
"There there, come on now we have work to do." With a snap of his fingers, J bought his cloak and upper piece of suit to let him wear it again.
Silver sniffled, but detached himself away from J to wear his clothes.
As the night rolled around, Silver layed on the corner of the empty highway road, waiting for that last soul he needs to take away.
He kept glancing at his wrist to check the count down 'til the next Death.
10
A loud whirring engine was heard.
9
Blaring horn of a truck inching forward.
8
Head lights of the truck falling on the road.
7
Sound of an over speeding bike engine making it's way through.
6
The truck and the bike are forwarding towards each other
5
They're a kilometer away, inching closer and closer with every passing second.
4
500 meters left, no one seems to be stopping now.
3
The truck driver cannot pull the brakes, the biker seems drunk, he isn't doing something to avoid the crash.
2
There it is, the loud crash between the large truck and the small bike.
1
Just a second before the heartbeat stops.
0
Instead of the countdown, the hologram showed the details of the dead.

Harold Johnson
10:26 pm
Silver sat up with grunt as he looked around the crime scene. He didn't payed any attention to the bloodied body of the biker, rather checked around for the soul.
There it was, standing a few feet away, looking at his own body with horrified eyes.
He didn't wanted to, but he had to.
Silver stood up, pulled over his cloak went to the soul.
"Harold Johnson, 26 years old, Time of Death, 10:26 pm." The soul looked over to the Grim Reaper, then glanced back to the disastorous accident.
"No.. no.. I can't! This can't be- I-.. I can't be dead!- No!" The guy panicked, shaking his head in refusal.
"There is no point in lying to yourself now, just come." 206 offered his hand to the soul, but he refused to take it.
"How- how, how can I be so sure you aren't playing some kind of sick joke." He was already exhausted today, he didn't felt like dealing with another stubborn soul today.
"Are you really that dumb? You can see your own body on the ground. How the hell do you think it's a joke?" But the soul shook his head, staggering away from The Grim Reaper.
In a swift moment, he caught the soul's jacket. "You don't really have a choice." He grabbed the soul's jaw made him look into his eyes, once again sucking the memories out.
"Looks like you weren't very nice." As he let go of the soul for a second to open the portal of Hell, the soul grabbed the opportunity and made a run for it.
"Oh for \*\*\*\*'s sake." He grumbled before sprinting towards the running soul. While running, with a charm of his hand, the portal to hell opened beside him.
"Hey, 206—"
"Catch that fucker!" Without even letting the Demon greet him, 206 pulled him out of the portal, still running.
"Shit." The Demon too ran beside 206 to chase the soul.
"Why is he so fast?!" The demon spoke, trying to catch up.
"He was a runner!"
"Don't you have some sort of power to like grab him?"
"It doesn't work on souls!"
"What kind of Grim Reaper are you?"
"What kind of a Demon are you?"
"Wow. No need to bite back."
"Shut up and catch him!" The two put their focus in catching up with the star track runner, finally being able to grab it's jackets.
Three of them stood around as 206 panted, almost on the ground from all the running.
"Take him.." He wheezed out as the Demon grabbed the soul and made his way back through the portal.
It was the time for him to return home. He took a deep breath and in a split second, stood in front of a tall building which was hidden away in the forest, away from the public view.
It was the home to numerous Grim Reaper that roamed the Earth.
A sudden force clasped down on his shoulders, making him flinch and turn to see who ever it was.
"How's my favourite Grim Reaper 206 doing standing here all alone?" He turned to see another one of his companion standing there, smiling proudly.
"The hell you want, 334?" The Reaper pouted, before wrapping his arms around 206.
"Woah, can't I even check up on my friend who didn't return last night?" Silver rolled his eyes before shrugging the hand away and walking further without replying.
"Oh come on, 206! I'm your friend!-"
"I think we should start calling him Silver now!" J's loud voice caught attemtion of numerous other Grim Reapers along with the one being called out.
Silver clicked his tongue and wielded a dagger before throwing it J's way, who dodged it elegently.
"Wait, am I missing out on something?" 334 furrowed his eyebrows as he looked between Silver and J.
"He'll tell you, eventually." J shrugged, also leaving 334's side to drape a lazy hand around Silver.
"You guys never tell me anything.." He mumbled to himself before walking faster to catch up with the duo.
The three entered the cafeteria designed for the Grim Reapers to eat anytime they wanted.
"Who's that?" Silver asked, gesturing over to a female sitting alone of a table near the window, staring at her food without touching.
"Don't know-"
"She's 665, came last night only, but refuses to talk to anyone in here." Silver and J turned to 334 with surprised faces, how does this man always has the information?
"Why doesn't she talk?" Silver asked again, glancing over to the girl.
"That, I don't know." 334 gave a sheepish smile as Silver nodded in acknowledgement and was about to walk away, but his plans for a quiet night were shattered when J dragged both him and 334 over to the girl.
"Hey there!" J chirped with a bright smile, but the girl didn't return it. She looked over to the trio with a dead look in her eyes before turning her face away to look out of the window.
"So much efforts for smiling." Silver grumbled and tried to make an escape but J's grip on him wouldn't let him.
"Well, I'm 207, you can call me J- wait no, you can't. Sorry." J corrected himself before Silver can do anything to harm him once again for letting someone else call him J.
"So? Who are you?" J sat down in front of the girl, pulling Silver and 334 down with him.
"He told you. Didn't he?" She gestured over to 334 who chuckled nervously.
"Yeah, he did.. but-"
"But what?" J sighed in defeat as he turned to Silver.
"Had your shot?" Silver raised one of his eyebrows. "You see here, not everyone is as friendly as you. And you can't win over everyone, you get that, J?"
"Yeah.."
"Friendly?" The three turned to the girl who spoke out of the blue.
"You don't understand english?" Silver sassed, getting a jab on his ribs by J.
"Hey, it still hurts," Silver's protest was left alone as the other two had their full attention towards the girl.
"Are you guys actually Grim Reapers? Friendly you say." She scoffed, folding her hands over her chest while she was given confused looks from the other two.
"What's.. what's wrong with being friendly?" 334 asked his two seniors who shrugged and wanted the newbie to elaborate her point.
"You are Grim Reapers for God's Sake!" The whole cafeteria went silent and looked horrified towards the girl.
"What..?" He voice was suddenly small for being the bold woman she was pretending to be.
"That's why I hate newbies," Silver sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Did no one gave her the rule book yet!?" Silver spoke loud enough for the Grim Reapers to be shook right through their spines.
"Uh.. A..?" Silver glanced over to J to see what he had to say. He followed J's line of view and saw the girl passed out on her chair, her limbs shaking.
"\*\*\*\*\*\*\* hell.." He cursed, unable to take his eyes off of the trembling girl.
"A, help her! She's new! Death won't leave her for this!" J looked back and forth from the girl to his friend, who's the only one who can save her.
"But what will he even do? It's not like he can talk to Death anytime be wants, Death hasn't called him.." 334 spoke, his eyebows furrowed from concern about the girl.
"He's not the Head Grim Reaper for nothing." J's statement seemed to throw 334 in a state of extreme shock which made him unable to comprehend the information that was thrown over to his way.
"He- he.. he's the head Grim Reaper..?"
"Shut up for a minute, will you?" J scolded before turning back to Silver.
"A, please, you've got to do it."
Silver sighed, he wouldn't admit, but he was afraid to go in front of Death once again. But on the other hand, these Grim Reapers were his responsibility, only if he returned last night, she wouldn't be in this trouble right now.
"Fine.."
Silver sucked in a deep breath, his eyes once again glowing purple as he mumbled something under his breath, and soon enough, his body layed limp, sprawled out over the chair.
