"If you're running away you shouldn't steal others property."

"When did i steal anything?" Yang yang refused to admit.

"You have stolen this great sage's egg." The dark haired Great Sage pointed at the little bun in her arm.

"I'm not the one who stole him. He's the one who clung onto me"

As if to prove she was telling the truth, she let the baby loose. But the baby clung onto her with all his might. Seeing that she had no intentions of holding him anymore, his eyes began to leak as he wailed out loud.

The Great Sage looked disappointedly at the punny descendant of his.

"Since he has chosen you, you shall be his mother."

"What!!!"

Xu Louyang couldn't believe how stealing out of hunger can create such a gigantic problem in her life.

Chapter_1 *Invasion*

Chapter_1***'Invasion'***

It was just the break of dawn; the wind still carried the freezing chills of winter. Yet the capital city of Svetlana was wide awake. The streets were decorated with colourful flowers, and clothes hanging from the tall symmetrical buildings of the main road leading to the Volkov(wolf) palace.

Svetlana was a small nation of only about a hundred thousand square miles area. But it ruled over more than ten countries of twice its area. How? The Svetlana were dangerous race of humans, not of their physical or magical power, but their intelligence. Their technology far exceeded the other nations of the Middle Realm.

Out of all the breathtaking sights of the capital city of Svetlana, the most astounding feature was the floating palace, at the very south of the Volkov palace, the Cristal Palace. The Palace given by its name is made of different mana crystals, a sight to behold indeed. It was built imitating the Nine heavens of Nirvana in the Ninth Realm, the realm of Immortals. No one had expected that such a strong kingdom would turn to dust in just one night, a few hours was all it took for the Demon race.

Vivienne was prepared for everything, anything. But she never expected the night to turn this way. Invasion was never on her list of events.

“Thea, the Holy Land, had joined hands with the Demons just to defeat me.” Luther, the Svetlanian King scoffed. His white royal uniform was dyed in red. The metallic scented fluid didn’t seem to stop flowing from his body.

“Ma… Master….” Vivienne whispered.

She didn’t notice that her eyes were shedding tears for whom she consider the cause of all her miseries. She thought that he had broken her enough for her to be void of heartbreak. If so, then what could explain the tightening pain in her chest when he stood in front of her to take the spear in her stead.

No. It was not because he protected her. But the series of emotions playing in his eyes, those grey eyes that always gave her shiver, those eyes that she hated to her core. Anger, pain, guilt, she saw in his grey orbs. Could she had been mistaken to see relief among them? If she could be sure of that from his eyes, the gentle smile he gave her changed her mind.

“Well… Well… Who would have thought that the Power Greedy Luther of Svetlana would die protecting the worthless impure blood he reared?”

“Takeo…. The Right hand of the Demon Lord. You couldn’t be more wrong if you think your needle can do me harm.” Luther hissed as he pulled out the spear and stood up with wavy legs. The fight with his surrogate daughter had took much from him.

With his back facing her, he couldn’t see the tears running down her eyes.

“Why?” She asked.

He remained silent for a while as he glared at the black horned demon. Then he replied.

“I spent fortune to cultivate you. You are my greatest investment. There’s no way I would let some smelly demon destroy my most priced treasure.”

**‘Me? Treasure?’**Vivienne couldn’t believe what she just heard. The ever could and distant King regarded her as his treasure. ‘No! He just thinks of me as his weapon. Yes. That’s it.’

“Vivienne… No…Lou yang…”

**‘He knows? How? I never told him my real name?’ **the only woman in the room thought.

“I have a lot to say. But there’s no time for that now.” King Luther continued. He took off his pendant and threw it at her. Give that to that fool when he wakes up.”

Vivienne caught the pendant but stared blankly at Luther. She knew what he meant by that. ‘I might not make it.’

“You can give it to him yourself.” Vivienne refused to accept that the person she couldn’t defeat all her life couldn’t make out safely.

“This is the second time you’re discarding a direct command from me. Don’t let there be a third time.” His sudden cold tone made her flinch. He looked at the unconscious lad in Vivienne’s arms. “Take my son away from here.”

“Master…”

“NOW.”

Without waiting for another second Vivienne vanished into the air. But to her, that few milliseconds meant a lot, it became the moment for her to see the tormentor for the last time, the devil who had also given her a new life.

After running away from the ball hall, she came to the maze garden in the Cristal Palace, as she thought no one would be able to enter the most secured place in Svetlana.

“At least for now.” She muttered as she laid the unconscious teen down on the ground. Her heart still couldn’t handle the fact that the nation she grew up would soon turn to ash.

“Commander.” A voice she is very familiar with called her.

“Igor.”

The black-haired man bowed before he asked, “What do we do now?”

Vivienne looked distantly to nowhere. Her calm demeanour seemed to have taken shelter in a dark corner of her mind. She couldn’t ponder what is to be done. She just wished her mind would turn off and she didn’t have to think of anything. But that’s just a wish and would only remain a wish. She had her duties and responsibilities as the Commander of Black Hawks. The golden and maroon level on her shoulder board and the golden lion on her gorget patches aren’t only for decoration.

She can’t effort being in a state of panic now. She had her family to protect, her family made of thirty subordinates and the helper who had seen and served her for who she was and not what she was. She didn’t want to but she had to do it. She had to flee.

********

a/n: Vivienne was the given name of the female Protagonist by her master after her summon.

Chapter_2 *Invasion (2)

It was her original plan to run away after meeting her subordinates. But Vivienne never thought an invasion would happen at the very night of her escape. Fighting against the Ten thousand Demon army and the five thousand Thean Soldiers was impossible. It was a one-sided war. There was no other option other than to runaway if they wanted to survive.

Vivienne looked at the sleeping teen on the ground. She had to fulfil the possibly last order given by her master.

“The King told me to take away the Prince.” She told her right hand.

“That means….” Igor knew what it meant. “It’s the last resort. Where is he?”

“At the Emerald Hall, against the Right hand of the Demon Lord.”

“…” The man didn’t say anything.

“Where are the others?”

“Sister Vina and Liberty are evacuating the staffs. The rest is at the Seven Pillar.”

Seven Pillars. The mechanism behind the floating palace. The Crystals of the palace make the palace float and the seven Pillars emerging from the vast lake make it remain stable at a certain place. This was a common knowledge amongst the armed and the nobles of the country. But what most didn’t know was that the Cristal palace was a movable palace, a 650 meters radius airship and its most amazing feature was the neatly sculpted marble runes on the crystals were a teleportation array, named as Takias. But to activate the runes, at least five Saint level array masters were required.

Vivienne thought for a while before she said, “I’m activating Takias.”

“For real!!” Igor exclaimed. “No. Yang Yang. Its risky. You’d be in danger.

*[Yang yang is a way of calling Vivienne whose real name is Xu Louyang with endearment. A nickname in short.]*

“It’ll be better than being a war prisoner, Ig.”

“I know but….”

Vivienne clearly saw the worry he had for her. So, she tried to assure her.

“Ig. I’m an Emperor Array master. I can do this, alright.”

“NO! Its not alright. Takias requires at least five Saint levels. You cant handle this yourself. We’ll search another way.

Lets ju_”

“What other way?” Vivienne cut off his words.

“I_” Igor was unable to answer her.

Indeed, there were limited options. It was either flee or fight, and the later couldn’t even an option. If they wanted to save everyone, activating Takias was the only way. But they only had three Runes practitioner including Vivienne. And the other two were not even Master levels.

[The level of mana practice goes like_

Elementary_ 1 to 9 tires

Copper_ 1 to 5 star

Silver_ 1 to 5 stars

Gold_ 1 to 5 stars

Master_ 1 to 3 degree

Saint_ 1 to 3 degree

Emperor_ which is considered the highest level.]

“The Demon army is too strong. We can’t fight them if that’s what you’re thinking.” Vivienne said.

“That’s not what I was thinking.” Igor said seriously.

“Then?”

“That not all of us need to leave.”

Vivienne’s glint when she heard what he said. ‘Not all of us need to survive.’

“That opinion of yours is not even worth of being in consideration.”

Vivienne refused. She rejected the thought of leaving anyone. Not even one who she cared for would be left. 'I will protect everyone.' She promised to herself and to her late mentor, and she didn’t have any plan of breaking that promise even in the dire situation.

“Yang yang, this_”

“Ig, if you didn’t understand what I said just now, I’ll repeat it in a simpler word. NO.”

“Yang yang, I know you don’t want this. But its better. You and Prince Leonardo can escape while we buy you some time. I’m sure the rest would unquestionably agree to what I’m saying. It’s so much better than_”

“BUT I DON’T!!” Yang yang finally let lose her frustrations. “And there’s nothing better in leaving you guys behind. How do you expect me to be fine with leaving you in this hell?”

Igor was surprised. Yang yang losing her coolness, that’s a very rare event. But he was somewhat glad that she was like that. As it meant that she was not fully turned into a living puppet like the King wanted to. All thirty of them. They were molten and created to the swords and shields of the ruthless King. His weapons.

Leaving all the dark and sad past in the deepest corner if his mind, he smiled the younger looking women.

“I too am not fine with this Yang yang. But, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do if I could if it means to keep you safe. Even if it means keeping my neck on the plater for those demons.”

“The same goes for us.”

Yang yang and Igor turned to the two women, in twenties, one dressed in the church uniform and the other with cherry blossom hair holding an arrowless bow.

“Sister Vina. Liberty.” Yang yang greeted

“Are you done?” Igor asked.

“There’s a total of two hundred seventy-nine staff in the palace. They are taken safely to the portal room. Unfortunate, most of the staffs went to the main palace to assist in the banquet. We’re unable to connect them now.” Liberty, the pink haired answered.

“I just pray that the Lord would keep them safe.” The only nun in the group prayed.

“It’s very unfortunate indeed.” Igor said. He turned to Yangyang and once tried to convince her to escape with the Prince, which was, once again rejected.

“No means no and it will never mean yes. There’s no way in heaven or hell that I’m leaving you for you to die.”

“Commander…. Don’t you have trust in our abilities?” Liberty questioned.

“I have confidence in your capabilities, but_” Yang yang was interrupted by a buzzing sound.

Every member of the Black Hawks had an ear piece made of mana crystal, with runes carved on them. These runes enable sound transmission, aiding the member in communicate freely and immediately.

The four of them activated the crystal. Just as they activated the crystal, a booming sound greeted them.

“Commander!” A male voice rang.

“Hugo! What’s the situation?”  Igor asked, fearing for the worst.

“Fifty plus demon soldiers are invading the first barrier. Seven of us are we Damn it! LUCAS!” The voice suddenly stopped and a long ringing sound remained.

“Hugo! HUGO!” Igor shouted but the line was already disconnected.
