My Husband Wants to Kill Me?

Episode 1

When we had dinner together, my roommate, Janet Wilson, suddenly said that I didn't deserve my boyfriend, Martin Lewis, and asked me for his WhatsApp number.

I didn't give it to her. However, I never expected her to complain to Martin about it and said that I was too mean.

I asked Janet what she meant.

But Janet didn't care about my feelings and said, "Why are you so narrow-minded? Even if Martin is your boyfriend, can't he make friends with me? Just relax, okay?"

I was really annoyed.

01

When we were having dinner together, I asked my boyfriend, Martin Lewis, to peel shrimp for me. Suddenly, my roommate, Janet Wilson said, "Olivia, I don't think you deserve your boyfriend."

I was stunned and turned to look at Janet.

Janet smiled meaningfully and stared at me.

"Are you kidding me?" I frowned and asked.

"No."

Then Janet looked at Martin with admiration on her face, saying, "Martin is so handsome, smart, and caring.

"Look at you. You are just average looking and are not good at studying. You shouldn't have asked him to peel the shrimp for you!"

Janet said with a smile. I couldn't tell whether she was serious or just joking.

When I was about to say something,

Martin said calmly, "Olivia is very beautiful. Otherwise, how could she be an amateur model? She has gotten a scholarship. Anyway, I think she is very special and not unreasonable at all. Please don't say that."

Janet was surprised, and then smiled, saying, "I was just kidding with Olivia. We are so close, and she won't be mad, right?"

What she said was clever. If I really got mad, it would seem that I was mean.

I was a little unhappy, and another roommate noticed the tense atmosphere, so she quickly added, "Yes, Olivia is a wonderful girl. You are so lucky, Martin!"

Then we laughed and continued to have dinner.

However, I felt really annoyed because Janet had been staring at Martin's face all the time during dinner. She was so bold.

And it was Janet who arranged the dinner party.

The reason was that I posted a picture of me and Martin on my Instagram when we were just together.

When Janet saw it, she said, "What a fake picture, Olivia. Your boyfriend is so cute that he looks like a star. That can't be true!"

The other roommates retorted for me, "Well, that's how he looks! Haven't you heard of Martin Lewis? He is the cutest guy in the Department of Computer Science. He used to take publicity photos for the university recruitment!"

Janet paused and forced a smile. Then she said, "Then he must be a playboy."

"Don't be fooled by him."

Janet's words were so annoying. So I said unhappily, "He is a good guy. You don't know him, so don't talk about him like that."

"Well, you have to be cautious. I think he looks like a playboy. Olivia, you have to ask your boyfriend to have dinner with us so that we can get to know him better!"

I thought her request was ridiculous.

But when I was about to refuse her, it suddenly occurred to me that my other two roommates had invited all of us to have dinner after they had boyfriends. It seemed that I should also follow this tradition.

So I had to suppress my displeasure and said, "Okay, I'll tell him. You may choose whatever you like."

I thought the budget of 40 dollars per person would be enough since that was the standard of our previous dinner parties.

However, I didn't expect Janet would repost several links in the group chat at night, which were restaurants that would cost 160 dollars per person or even 400 dollars per person!

"Olivia, just pick one. I think these restaurants are pretty nice."

Taking all the people into account, Martin and I would spend 2,400 dollars for the dinner. That was ridiculous!

Before I could say anything, Mia Robinson, one of my roommates, turned over and said to Janet, "It's too expensive. We didn't treat you guys to such an expensive dinner before."

But Janet didn't care about it and said, "I heard that Martin's parents run a chain hotel and he is very rich. And Olivia is his girlfriend. That's not a big sum."

Episode 2

"Look at her luxury handbag!"

That was the truth. Martin was very generous and bought me expensive gifts. It was not a big deal for him to buy me a handbag worth 10,000 dollars.

But the point was why should I treat Janet to such an expensive dinner?

So I refused Janet directly, "It's too expensive. I've made up my mind about where to go. Martin's roommate has a villa that is specially used for holding parties. The average price is 60 dollars per person. Let's go there."

"You are too mean, Olivia. Your boyfriend is so rich, but he treats us so cheaply. Are you looking down upon us?"

"Don't you think your words are too harsh? What does it have to do with looking down upon you?"

Another roommate defended me, "Besides, that's not cheap, okay? How could you say that to Olivia?"

I was a little angry. I couldn't help but satirize, "Well, I'm not rich. How about you treat us to dinner and show us your living standard?"

"Why should I treat you?"

Janet answered without hesitation.

"Do you mean that you look down upon us, so you don't even want to treat us to dinner?" I sneered and said.

Seeing that no one was supporting her, Janet changed her expression.

Then she said awkwardly, "Do you have to be so serious?

"I don't care."

I didn't talk to Janet anymore and turned over to sleep.

02

I thought that Janet wouldn't have gone to the dinner party after what happened between us.

But on Saturday night, Janet followed us downstairs as if nothing had happened.

I was not a person who would swallow insults and humiliation. But thinking that we would be together for another three years, I didn't want to ruin our relationship, so I didn't say anything more.

But when we went downstairs and saw Martin's Land Rover, Janet's eyes lit up!

"Olivia, your boyfriend is so handsome!"

Janet shook my arm repeatedly and shouted, "Isn't this car very expensive? It must cost about 400 thousand dollars!"

It seemed that Janet didn't need my answer. She walked straight to Martin and shook hands with him. "Nice to meet you, Martin. I'm Olivia's friend, Janet Wilson!"

Janet didn't let go of Martin's hand until he took a step back awkwardly.

"Get in the car," Martin said to us.

I nodded and was about to open the door, but as soon as I stretched out my hand, Janet rushed up from behind and opened the door before I did.

At the same time, she smiled and said, "I haven't ridden such an expensive car before. Can I sit in the passenger seat? Olivia, you won't mind, will you?"

I grabbed Janet's arm and looked at her coldly.

"I will," I said.

"Only I can sit in the passenger seat of my boyfriend. Please get off," I added.

Janet's expression turned cold all of a sudden. "No way! I was just going to sit in the passenger seat! Do you have to be so mean, Olivia?"

I looked at Janet indifferently and said, "Yes, I do. If you are not okay with that, don't go with us. That's fine."

Seeing that I was decisive, Janet could only get off sulkily, angrily went to the back seat, and slammed the door.

"Who cares? Do you really think that no one has ever seen a luxury car?"

I didn't expect that she would still follow us.

"Don't go if you don't care."

Hearing my words, Janet finally shut up.

Episode 3

When we arrived at the villa, we got to know each other first. Then we sat in the living room.

Janet immediately sat next to Martin.

Without looking at her, Martin stood up and found an empty seat beside me.

Janet's face darkened. She stopped talking and began to eat.

But I didn't expect her to keep saying that I didn't deserve Martin in front of him.

In fact, I was about to get angry at this time, but Martin had brought his roommates here.

It was the first time we had met. I really didn't want to leave a bad impression on Martin's roommates, so I had to put up with it.

Perhaps it was because of Martin's words that Janet kept silent for a while.

When Martin said that he liked motorbikes, Janet got excited again.

"What a coincidence, Martin! I also like motorbikes!" Janet shouted.

Martin was stunned for a moment.

"Oh, yeah?" Martin replied politely.

"Yes, I think riding a motorbike is so cool," said Janet happily.

Then she pretended to be embarrassed and said, "Isn't it strange that a girl like me likes motorbikes?"

One of Martin's roommates asked in confusion, "What's strange about that?"

"Well," Janet pursed her lips and said, "very few girls like motorbikes. For example, Olivia doesn't like them very much."

I was pissed off when I heard that.

What a bitch!

That guy retorted, "No, I don't think so. Many girls I know like motorbikes. You don't know the situation."

I sneered and said coldly, "Do you mean that you're really special and different from other girls?

"Is it necessary to beat around the bush?"

Janet changed her expression and said pitifully, "I didn't say that. I'm just afraid that people will think I'm strange since my hobby is so different from other girls!"

"Olivia, even if you don't have any common hobbies with Martin, you didn't have to say that to me, did you?"

I was so angry. I knew Janet was not a good friend in the past, but I didn't find that she was such a bitch.

I didn't expect her to go so far!

All my roommates realized that I was going to blow up.

"Shut up!" they persuaded Janet.

Martin also frowned and said, "It doesn't matter whether we have the same interest or not. I just like Olivia, and that's enough." Hearing Martin's words, Janet pursed her lips and didn't say anything.

Later, Janet probably realized that everyone was a little annoyed with her. So she finally stopped making trouble for me.

I breathed a sigh of relief, but I didn't expect Janet to ask me for Martin's number when there was no one around us.

"Olivia, what's Martin's WhatsApp number?"

I frowned and asked, "Why do you ask it?"

Janet replied without hesitation, "I wanna discuss the motorbike with him.

"Oh, you don't understand. Just give his number to me."

I was not a fool.

"No," I refused directly.

"Are you jealous?"

Janet pretended to be surprised and continued, "I didn't mean anything else. You don't have to be so mean, do you?"

I really didn't want to waste my time with her.

"Well, I am jealous. I hope you can stay away from Martin, okay?" I said impatiently.

Then I turned around and left. I didn't want to see Janet's annoying face anymore.

However, when I went out of the bathroom, I saw Janet talking to Martin alone.

I approached them and heard their conversation.

"Martin, Olivia was so mean. I asked for your WhatsApp number from her because I wanted to discuss motorbikes with you, but she refused me," Janet complained in a coquettish tone.

"Why did you like such a mean girl?" she added.
