In a world where magic exists and is one of the main sources of power, it is not surprising the desire of every intelligent being in these lands to understand the smallest detail of this incredible ability.
Humans, semi-humans, mystical creatures have had the miracle of being able to use it, however, among humans there have been very few.
That is why, compared to other races, it is not surprising that the knowledge acquired by normal people is below those of superior races.
However, thanks to the union of this race and their strength to stay behind was how they had the creation of the first and only magical academy to the disdain of humans.
The founders dubbed it Stelaris, and for more than two centuries since its creation it has been the main place of research and practice on magic for the human race.
Only those with the true potential to use magic can have the doors opened to this mystical place located on the highest point of a mountain.
Those who have the privilege of graduating from Stelaris have practically their life assured by having a great knowledge of magic and being able to use it without major problems in their daily lives.
Illusionists, enchanters, summoners, druids, necromancers, elementists, arcanists, sorcerers; each one has their own gift and it is thanks to this that they are able to fend for themselves.
Or so it should be.
Attending this academy does not ensure that every student is a brilliant mind.
There are those who have an impressive motivation when they start their path, but over time that hope is destroyed and they end up dropping out soon after.
The reality is that this world is not fair, and only the most talented have the chance to reach the top, as it should be, but this memoir is not about failure.
After more than 300 years of existence, the Stelaris Academy had in its ranks the next golden generation of great instructors.
The only detail is that within the ranks of that great batch of students, there was a boy of no more than 18 years old.
His name: Jasper Flekken.
His night-black hair, fair skin and slim physique, in addition to being small, made him look like an easy prey for anyone.
The worst thing is that this was not the only detail, Flekken was the student with the greatest potential of all, but for some reason, his level of learning was, to say the least, pitiful.
No matter how hard he tried, his current level could not compare to that of his current classmates.
This failure that he himself considered to be so, was the reason why he was isolated by others to the point of being left completely alone during classes.
Although this was a very hard feeling to overcome, Jasper managed to find an outlet where he could stop thinking about all the bad times.
The Stelaris library was the perfect place for any soul who wanted an ounce of knowledge on any subject and who also wanted to isolate themselves from any kind of concentration.
From magic to historical events, any kind of book a student or teacher wanted to find would be there.
For Jasper this was like paradise brought from heaven. Every time he came to this place, he would pick up a book and sit in one of the various seats that existed.
On this occasion he had picked up a book on magic for beginners. He always hoped that his poor performance in magic was due to a failure to understand the basics, but no matter how many times he read it, he clearly did know them.
-Here again, Jasper? At this rate I think you'll end up finishing all the books in this place before me.
A sweet, soft voice was present. Jasper recognized it instantly. There was no way he could mistake her, since it was the headmaster of the magical academy and one of his teachers, Belial Frayme.
With his short dark curly hair and blue eyes and a fine, well-groomed face, he looked like a young adult under the age of 25. However, this was not the case.
Belial Frayme was currently 35 years old, and although it was not an old age compared to his predecessors, he was possibly the best magic user in all the land at the moment.
His stature was below average, but with his great magical gifts he would be able to bring down the strongest and biggest wall that stood in his way.
Having someone like that on the side of humanity gave a fresh breath of air when beings with immense power existed on this planet.
For Jasper there was no greater honor than to be in the presence of Belial even though he had already seen him a great number of times in this place.
-M-master!
-There is no need to be so nervous. We've talked about this before," laughing as he gave him a sign of relaxation with his hand.
Belial pulled out one of the chairs and sat down next to Jasper in hopes of making pleasant conversation. He ended up noticing that in his student's hands was that same old book.
-You know, I think sometimes it's necessary to try another path if you're looking to improve in one area.
-I know what you mean, maestro, but.... No matter how hard I've tried, I haven't had any improvement. I don't even know where to start to realize where I'm going wrong.
-You're overthinking things. Magic has very different paths for each person. There are those who understand it almost instantly and then those who take months or years to even learn a basic trick.
-Don't tell me that. I don't know if I can wait that long to barely make a stone disappear.
The feeling of defeat had completely overwhelmed Jasper, who dropped his head just at the right moment.
