The Wealth System of the Despised Son-in-Law

Episode 1

"Today, you're fired from my company because of you; I've lost customers!" his boss at his workplace exclaimed angrily.

"What! Please forgive me, sir, but it wasn't my fault—at all. The order I delivered was correct; perhaps the customer forgot they ordered incorrectly or had some other issue so they weren't focused," Charzo responded, explaining.

"There are no excuses whatsoever! Fired means fired! And it was out of kindness that I ever hired you in the first place—turns out it's true, the uneducated really are useless!" his boss stated, wounding him deeply.

Indeed, Charzo only had a primary school education, while his colleagues were high school or college graduates, but the insult was too much.

"Sir, even though I only graduated from primary school, I work hard. If you want to fire me, go ahead, but please, not with insults like this," Charzo said, feeling disheartened.

"Whatever! I don't want to see you again, get out of this company now!" the boss scorned him again.

"What about my salary? I've been working for a month," Charzo asked.

"No salary for you! This was a serious mistake you made! Get out, just go!" the boss pushed Charzo forcefully out of the company, causing him to fall, then slammed the door shut.

Charzo stood silently, gazing at the door of his workplace for the last time. He had been fired, belittled, and was leaving without pay. Feeling utterly dejected, Charzo was forced to return home empty-handed.

Charzo was a poor man who had been orphaned since childhood, living on his own, working odd jobs. He met Clara when he saved her from a mugger, and they fell in love and married without her parent's approval. Yet they loved each other despite not having been blessed with children.

Charzo returned to the rental they usually stayed in.

"Why do you look so sad? Did something happen?" Clara asked upon seeing Charzo's downcast face.

Charzo hugged Clara, looking forlorn. "I'm sorry my love, I've failed to make you happy. And today, I was also fired without pay. Forgive your husband for not giving you the life you deserve," Charzo apologized, sorrowfully.

"What! Fired! Why were you fired? How are we going to eat if you're not working!" Clara exclaimed, her facial expression changing. She took a deep breath. Even though she was angry, she had to accept the reality.

"Well, let's hope you find new work soon," Clara resignedly said. Even though his wife could be irrationally angry at times, she was still obedient.

Suddenly, the landlady came to them as they were sitting on the porch.

"Charzo, didn't you say you were going to pay the rent today? Where is it?" the landlady demanded, eyes bulging.

"I'm so sorry, ma'am. I can't pay just yet; I was just fired from my job and didn't get my last check. Please give us another chance. Once I find a new job, I'll settle the debt," Charzo pled.

"What! You think I can wait until you get a job? If that's the case, I might as well rent this place to someone else! You're two months behind on rent and still you dare to ask for more time! Get out of this house and take your worthless stuff with you! If you can't afford rent, don't rent in the first place, causing trouble for others!" the landlady shouted in anger.

Reluctantly, the couple packed their belongings and left their home, to wander the streets like vagrants.

"Why don't we go to my parents' house? We can stay there while you're looking for permanent work," Clara suggested.

"But... is it really okay to stay there? What about you? They surely won't accept us," Charzo hesitated.

"It's fine, I'll make sure they welcome us and convince them to let us stay temporarily," Clara said confidently.

They walked to Clara's parents' home. They weren't exceptionally wealthy, but they were well-off. Clara's father worked at a prominent local company, and so did her siblings and their spouses—all well-educated, white-collar workers.

Arriving, they entered Clara's family courtyard and knocked on the door.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Mom, mom, I've come!" Clara called.

Hearing the noise outside, Clara's mother opened the door and saw her daughter arrive with the son-in-law she despised.

"Oh, so you remember the way home? What brings you here?" Lena looked disapprovingly at Charzo.

"Mom, I would like to talk to you for a moment," Clara said, approaching her mother.

"Wait here for a moment," Clara requested as she pulled her mother's hand and went into the kitchen.

"What is it?" her mother asked again. Charzo reached out to shake hands with his in-law, but she had no intention of reciprocating.

"Mom, I am asking you to let me and my husband stay here for a while until he finds work. He was just fired from his job, and we were evicted from our rental. So, I'm begging you, please let us stay here," Clara implored her mother.

"I warned you from the start! Don't marry a poor man like him, and now he ends up being a burden to us all, someone who has nothing and still you stick by him! Just divorce him!" her mother exclaimed angrily.

"Mom, please don't separate me from my husband. I love him so much. Please," Clara pleaded.

Whatever Clara and her mother continued to discuss, Clara emerged from the kitchen with red eyes from crying, but she smiled in front of Charzo.

"You can stay in the storage room if you want to live here!" Clara's mother declared, leaving without wanting to see Charzo.

"This is all because of you, getting fired now we have to sleep in a storage room," Clara grumbled.

"I'm sorry, my dear. Next time, after I get a new job, we will definitely stay in a more convenient place," Charzo reassured her.

"Do as you like," Clara said. They moved to the storage room and started cleaning it up. Despite their situation, they managed to stay cheerful, laughing together.

"Well, well, little sister, who would've thought that after coming all this way, you'd end up in a storage room. You're not welcome here, that's certain. Poor thing," Clara's second eldest sister, Carry, said mockingly.

They paused their cleaning. "It's okay, sis. Despite this, I'm still happy," Clara replied smiling.

"Oh really? Then this place is perfect for you. Besides, who told you to marry a man of no worth? Look how tragically your life has ended up," Carry arrogantly remarked as she admired her own beautiful nails.

"Sister, don't say that," Clara replied, her demeanor changing.

"Ugh, it's so revolting! You indeed deserve to live in a storage room with rats and cockroaches. Disgusting!" Carry sneered as she left, showing her distaste.

Episode 2

Two years had passed, and Charzo was still residing in Clara's parents' house. Moreover, he had taken on the role of a helper there.

As usual, Charzo had to prepare breakfast for everyone, despite the fact that Clara's two elder siblings were unemployed and stayed at home, but the entire household chore burden, from cooking, sweeping, mopping, cleaning all the toilets, tending to the garden, doing laundry, washing dishes and so on, fell onto Charzo to complete.

Fortunately, Clara had found a modest job that barely covered their meals together, but they still could not afford to pay for their own place.

Forced by their financial situation, they stayed far too long at her parents' house. Of course, Charzo constantly faced ridicule, daily berated for not securing employment. How could he, when the never-ending domestic tasks prevented him from going anywhere to even search for a job?

That morning, Charzo prepared breakfast as he always did and served the food on the table. Lena tasted Charzo's cooking and suddenly spat it out directly onto his face. Charzo was stunned by the spit-covered food, finding it utterly disgusting.

"Cough! Cough! What kind of food is this!" Lena yelled, grabbing a tissue to wipe her mouth.

"You've been living here for so long yet you still cook horribly! You expect to stay here for free! Or did you deliberately make this trashy food! Are you trying to kill me with food as terrible as yourself! Now, eat this!" Lena scolded, throwing the food onto the floor.

"Forgive me, mother-in-law, I'll cook again," said Charzo, picking up the food from the floor to dispose of it.

"Eat it now! I won't have food wasted!" Lena commanded, eyes wide with fury.

Charzo gave the food on the plate a melancholic look.

"If you won't eat it, I will divorce you from Clara!" she threatened once more. Maybe he could endure the insults directed at him, but the thought of separating from his wife was unbearable. The mother-in-law was only abusive when Clara was at work. For his wife's sake, Charzo was willing to endure any humiliation.

Charzo took the food and ate it, with them looking on in smug satisfaction, wearing sneering smiles.

"I don't know what Clara saw in you to marry a piece of trash like you; you're ugly, poor, and stupid," said Carry, Clara's second elder sister.

"I reckon she's just biding her time, and once she's bored, she'll just throw away this idiot," Carin added.

"You should be aware of your place; living in someone else's house means doing proper work! Not just staying without contributing anything. Look now, my daughter has to work! Aren't you ashamed to be such a man? Clearly, as a trashy, uneducated man, who would want to employ you? I've never wished to acknowledge you as my son-in-law!" Lena lectured, staring at Charzo who bowed his head, eyes brimming with tears, eating the discarded food.

Charzo was acutely conscious of imposing on them, and felt he had no choice but to tolerate their mistreatment.

"After washing the dishes, clean the house, do the laundry, sweep and mop. I don't want my clothes washed in the machine; it has to be hand-washed and spotless, remember that!" Lena demanded with fierce eyes.

Charzo nodded.

All of this happened, of course, when Clara was not home, as she had already left early for work.

Charzo cleaned the dishes on the table, while his in-laws brought several baskets of dirty clothes.

"Wash all these clothes cleanly, or you'll repeat the process!" Lena said, looking sharply at Charzo.

***

With the changing of days and months, Charzo continued to be treated harshly by his in-laws. He had tried to look for a job, but success eluded him.

To make matters worse, their two-year marriage had not yet been blessed with children, and the blame was placed on Charzo.

"I can't stand to see that refuse living here any longer, I must do something about him," Lena said thoughtfully.

"What are you considering?" asked Clara's father.

"I loathe him intensely. I want to do something so he leaves this house and lets Clara be on her own. This way, it won't seem like we expelled him. The neighbors are always gossiping about him, and I'm embarrassed! He cannot stay here any longer," Lena said, eying the window with sly intent.

"Do as you like, I won't instruct or impede you; think of a solution yourself. I'm off to watch my favorite series," said Clara's father, settling down in front of the television.

"Hm... I've thought up a more brilliant idea; I will make him out to be an imbecile, so I can oppress him daily," Lena uttered with a malicious grin.

Episode 3

Today, as usual, the daily chore that Charzo undertakes is preparing breakfast.

"Again, you prepare such trashy food! How many times must I tell you! Can't you hear, or are you deaf?" Lena screams, flinging the food at Charzo's head. She also pushes Charzo's head, causing him to fall backward. He does not retaliate, as she is the mother of the woman he loves.

After Charzo cooks again, they all eat while he stands by waiting to be ordered around by his in-laws, fetching whatever they command. He is even more abject than a servant. Once they finish eating, Charzo tidies up the dining table.

Lena peeks from behind and watches as Charzo is busy cleaning the dining table. She sees her chance, discreetly placing cooking oil on the kitchen floor while Charzo is still tidying plates on the dining table after their meal.

When Charzo enters the kitchen, he slips due to the slick floor, and along with the plates he is carrying, crashes to the floor. His head also hits the wall, and the back of his head lands on the hard floor with great force.

His vision swims as he looks up at the ceiling which seems to spin, blurring his sight.

Hearing the loud noise, Lena smirks from behind the door, then approaches to inspect Charzo's condition. She steps on Charzo's body, kicking him repeatedly.

"Heh! Take that, hopefully, when you wake up, you'll be an idiot, a useless person! Become trash and then, Clara can divorce you! I can't stand to see a son-in-law like you! I wish you would die quickly so Clara could find a rich and wealthy man. Ugh! You disgusting human!" she curses and leaves Charzo lying on the floor without assistance.

After hearing his mother-in-law's harsh words, Charzo faints, and his spirit floats away into the air.

"Where am I?" asks Charzo, looking around the vast, dark room. Suddenly, a database emerges from nowhere and enters his mind, causing a severe headache.

"Ahhhhhh! My head hurts so much!" Charzo screams, clutching his head and shutting his eyes tight.

Suddenly, a hologram data appears in front of him, and he stands engulfed in unintelligible data.

"What's this?" asks Charzo reaching for the data, but he cannot touch it as it is intangible.

"What was that just now? Why did it enter my head?" Charzo asks, bewildered.

WELCOME

[Welcome to the advanced wealth system. The system has chosen you as the Master of this extraordinary software. The system will realize your dreams.]

"Huh? System? Aren't systems found on computers? Why is it in my head?" Charzo asks, still confused.

[The 'System' responds: This is an advanced artificial intelligence system, evolving with modern times. You are the chosen one by the system after being tracked.]

"No! No! No! This must be a dream, definitely a dream!" Charzo shakes his head vigorously.

[The 'System' responds: This is real and truly exists. The 'System' will help you become a respected and wealthy individual so that you will not be insulted again.]

"But how can you realize my wishes?" Charzo asks, still curious.

"But how can I use this system?" Charzo asks, his curiosity growing.

[The system responds: You just need to tap the menu options on the hologram touchscreen; there you'll find your profile. Click your profile, and instructions and images will appear.]

"I see, but what should I do first?" asks Charzo.

Suddenly Charzo awakens to see the ceiling of his room above.

"It felt like just a dream," Charzo murmurs, attempting to sit up, though his head throbs slightly.

Hearing Charzo's shout, Clara enters the room.

"Honey, are you alright?" Clara asks with evident concern.

"Ah, I'm fine, love, no need to worry," Charzo reassures, grasping Clara's hand.

"That's a relief. How did you fall? Are you sick?" Clara asks, pressing her hand to Charzo's forehead feeling for a temperature.

"I'm not sick; I just slipped, that's all," Charzo smiles.

"Be careful next time, will you?" advises his wife.

"Darling, you must be tired from work; I will make you tea and get you some food. Please, sit here for a moment," Charzo suggests lovingly, helping his wife to sit on the bed.

Charzo hurries to the kitchen to prepare food for his wife.

Charzo cooks for Clara and makes green tea with joy.

"Just you watch, I will make my child despise you," Lena says quietly, observing Charzo cooking.

After cooking, Charzo sets the meal on the tray and brings it to the room. As Charzo approaches, Lena stretches out her leg causing Charzo to tumble, spilling the food he carries.

"Ow! Look at yourself, so useless you can't even carry food! What else are you capable of? You live off what others provide and even Clara works to feed you. Have you no shame as a man? Where's your dignity!" Lena mocks, raising her voice so the whole house hears.

"What's going on, Mother?" Clara asks, emerging from her room upon hearing the commotion.

"Look at your worthless husband! It's bad enough he freeloads, now he wastes food. Aren't you tired of providing for a man so useless!" Lena rants.

"Indeed Sister, I pity you for such a wretched life, keeping such trash for a husband. Better to divorce him," declares Clara's eldest sibling who also resides in the same house.

Clara moves toward her husband. "Honey, be more careful," she says, helping gather the spilled food back onto the plate.

"No, you must be exhausted, just rest, I'll make you another dish," Charzo declares, paying little mind to their insults, accustomed as he is to them.

"No need to make another," Clara replies blankly.

"No! I will make it again," insists Charzo with a smile. He rushes back to the kitchen to cook once more.

"Ugh! Truly irritating," mutters Lena as she walks into her own room.

After finishing, Charzo again delivers the food to the room.

"Here, eat up, hope it's to your liking," Charzo says, setting it down on the table.

"Thank you," Clara replies, picking the food and devouring it, as she is quite hungry herself.

'I got a smartphone, what shall I do with it?' he wonders.

After the meal, Charzo takes the dirty dishes away, washes them, and cleans the kitchen, a routine part of his unpaid servitude in his in-law's house.

Charzo sees his wife has already fallen into a deep sleep, so he sits leaning against the bed.

'System, how do I receive the smartphone?' Charzo queries.

[The 'System' responds: Just click on the smartphone image, and it will materialize.]

Charzo clicks on the smartphone image and it indeed becomes real, which he then takes into his hands.

"Perfect, it's been two years since I last had a phone," Charzo remarks.

'I have money now; how should I spend it?' Charzo wonders, powering on the phone. He encounters advertisements on how to make money and eventually lands on an ad about starting an investment.

"Ah, that's a thought. What if I were to trade stocks online? This way, I could work from the phone," thinks Charzo, forming a plan.

He seeks reputable stock trade websites with proper business licenses online. After finding one, he confirms with the business owner. Through communication and agreement, Charzo eventually transfers his money.

Charzo stands gazing down at his wife, asleep for over two years of their simple marriage. Clara was delighted and never demanded more, understanding their situation.

'Wife, I will make you happy; I'll make you the most fortunate woman in the world one day and offer you a life of dignity,' Charzo silently vows while tucking her in. He also gives her a gentle kiss on the forehead.

"Good night, and sweet dreams." Charzo then grabs his blanket and opts to lie on the floor so as not to disturb his wife's rest.
