There was a very beautiful kingdom in a far away land . In this very kingdom , the royal family was waiting the newest member to be borne.
It was a beautiful day in the whole kingdom the sun shines bright. But than all of a sudden,an eclipse accrued.
In this exact moment matching the eclipse the queen gave birth. While the sun was still shining she gave birth to the first princess.
The new born girl was beautiful, she had burning fire like hair, cristal clear blue eyes that resembled the mid-day sky.On the princess' body right above the heart was the symbol of the sun.
On the other hand while the moon had corrupted the sun and the whole kingdom was filled with darkness, the second princess was born.
The second princess had silver white hair like the moon light shining lonely on midnight, a pair of starry eyes that were no less pretty and mysterious than the cloudless night sky.And just like the first princess she had a symbol right above the heart, but this time it was the symbol of the moon.
The king named the first princess Toya that means sun and the second princess Tsuky meaning the moon.
The king was extremely happy with the birth of the two princess, but his happiness didn't last long, two days after the princesses were born the queen fall sick.
Two years past and for the queen's sickness was found no cure. Then the morning of a sunny summer day the queen past away.
The king's heart was broken and he never saw a bright day after his lovers death. He was left alone with the two years old princesses.
The king didn't remarry because he loved his queen too much, but his choice left the princesses grow without a mother's love.
A few years past, the princesses grew more and more different from each other.
Toya was beautiful, she shined full of light and warm resembling the sun.She was playful and a bit selfish, but she was loved by everyone in the palace.
On the other hand Tsuky was as beautiful as her sister, and she was shy, but to the other she seemed cold just like the moon. Tsuky liked to pass most of her time in the royal library or outside the palace wall into the woods.
Because she stayed most of the time alone, the people started to ignore her and almost forgot about her existence. Even the king didn't play much attention to her because she was hardly seen in the palace.
Her nanny mistreated and hurt her,but the little princess never complained.
The nanny would always say that she was a curse for the kingdom, that her eyes and hair resembled those of a heartless witch .
The guardian wasn't the only one even the other thought the same. They would say that her eyes were empty without emotions and that she could kill someone just by looking at them.
For this very reason the little Tsuky was forced to wear a mask to hide her eyes.
She was mistreated by almost everyone in the palace. Lately even Toya starts to ignore her sister like everybody else. But Tsuky was already used to all this , and it didn't matter to her what the other did, she continued to live like nothing was happening.
She studied alone in the library and practiced her magic outside the palace walls. When everyone was happy about her sister's achievement , she stayed silent hiding her knowledge and power.
Her reason for doing so was a foolish one. She was called cursed by many people, and now she believed that their words were true. Tsuky didn't want her beloved sister getting hurt because of her. She would rather have people continued to treat her that way , then seen her sister suffer. After all she was already used to all that, it was nothing new.
Other years past by, the princesses were now almost 18 years old. To celebrate their birthday , the king invited the whole kingdom and kings and Princes from other kingdoms.
He organised a magnificent masquerade in the royal palace.
It was a magical night, the moon light was brighter than ever, the grand hall of the palace was filled with people from all over the kingdom. The music echoed in the palace walls and then slowly escaped into the night sky.
The music suddenly stopped. The two princesses stood gracefully at the entrance of the hall. Everyone's eyes were on them, the beautiful stars of the night.
Toya was elegant and beautiful standing in a pure white dress, a golden mask hiding her clear blue eyes. The burning red hair hanging down her waist like flames of the sun.
Right beside her, was standing the beautiful and innocent, Tsuky. The silver cold mask hiding her eyes so no one could see them. The dazzling silver hair and the pure white skin was looming through the black dress.
Both the princesses looked like fairies , who didn't belong in the mortal world.
The king walked toward them and standards in the middle. Then he made a congratulatory speech for the two princesses. Immediately after the king's speech, music was heard repeatedly in every corner of the palace.
Toya was dancing with one of the invited princes. Meanwhile, Tsuky had gone out to the balcony and was looking at the starry sky, lost in thoughts.
The tension in the room grew heavier. Toya wasn't answering. She wanted to make Tsuky more anxious, so her goal would be easier to achieve.
After a while she broke the silence, and answered." His hands are covered in blood, his eyes resemble those of a hungry beast, and he knows no mercy. He kills everyone who approaches him in cold blood." Her voice was low as a mere whisperer as if she was afraid to say another word.
Her body was trembling. Goosebumps run all over it, and tears slide down her cheeks. Soon the sound of her cries echoed in the dark room.
Tsuky was stand. She didn't know what to do.She never had anyone comfort her when she cried, so she didn't know what to do to make her sister feel better.
Toya wasn't calming down instead she was crying harder. Panic overwhelmed Tsuky, and she thought of calling the maid, but Toya grabbed her hand, stopping her from leaving.
Not sure of what to do Tsuky set dawn next to her sister and put her arm on her shoulders. Then after a while, seeing that Toya wasn't crying as hard as before she asked." Are you feeling unwell anywhere? Should I inform the maids? " Her voice was trembling anxiously, showing just how worried she was.
Under the disguise of darkness Toya smiled in satisfaction. Then she lifted her head up, dried her tears, and answered in a bitter-sweet smile." l'm fine! "
" You don't look fine to me. I am going to call the maids." Tsuky said still worried about her sister.
"No, don't go!" Toya said loudly, unlike someone who was crying and trembling a while ago. Then realising her mistake she added softly." Don't leave me alone."
Tsuky was confused. Toya was acting strange, and it was bothering her somehow. No matter how little she knew about her sister those actions weren't normal.
This leads her to believe that Toya had something else in mind. And for what that may be, she would soon find out.
Toya would no longer beat around the bush, she would soon say what she had wanted to say all night long.
And there it was, she begins to speak slowly. "Tsuky the reason why I came to you so late at night and talked about our wedding is because I.... The truth is I don't want to marry his highness prince Yukio." She said, and busted into tears again.
Tsuky hesitated for a while then responded." l see! You really don't want to marry him, but what I don't understand is why are you telling me this? When you should talk to his majesty, and ask him to cancel your marriage." The tone of her voice was indifferent the whole time.
Toya bit her lower lip, holding back her anger. If it wasn't for her determination in achieving her goal she would have cursed and yelled at Tsuky a long time ago. She really couldn't stand people ignoring her like that.
" Tsuky, you don't understand. Father won't help me with this. You know how important this marriage is to him, he would never cancel it." She said with tears rolling down her cheeks.
The marriage was really important, it could help their empire in a lot of way as the Northern Empire has the strongest military forces in the continent. But if Toya really wanted the marriage to be cancelled The Emperor would immediately agree. But no, Toya didn't want the marriage to be cancelled, she had something else in mind.
"Than what do you want me to do?" Tsuky said, playing along with her.
" Tsuky, l know what I am about to say may sound ridiculous, but please listen to me. Please ... you are the only hope l have left." She said with a desperate voice. " Please! Please Tsuky, switch places with me."
The room become silent, not a single sound could be heard, nether of the princesses was speaking. Toya was waiting for Tsuky's respond, while Tsuky couldn't believe her ears. Did she hear that correctly? .... Switch places??
How could Toya request something like that? Surly she knew that by doing so they would be greatly offending the Northern Empire. Did she truly think that Tsuky would actually accept her request ?
Not only did Toya think that Tsuky would accept, but she was sure of it. Her precious little sister had such a soft heart, she could never refuse a request from her. Especially when it was made in such a desperate way.
Toya was right, Tsuky really was a soft heart girl, especially when it comes to her family, but she wasn't l fool. She knew how to take care of herself, and she had done so for so many years now.
Tsuky took a deep breath, then calmly stood up from the bed, keeping her usual calm behaviour. Turning around to face Toya she said. " Toya you should know that what you are asking me is an unreasonable request. You know that is impossible." She spoke in a calm voice not showing a single emotion on her tone.
"It's not impossible!" Toya shouted while standing up. Her hands were on fire, it seems that her fire magic was out of control because of her anger. Then, as she noticed her powers getting out of control, she took a deep breath, calmed herself and sat on the bed again as if nothing happened.
" I'm sorry for my reaction" She apologized, noticing Tsuky's shocked face. She needed to calm down or else everything she worked so hard to achieve would be ruined. " Tsuky you don't seem to understand me. I..."
"Then tell me, what is it that l don't understand?" Tsuky asked, interrupting her.
"Tsuky you misunderstood me. l really don't want to marry his highness prince Yukio, but the reason is not what you are thinking"
"And what l'm thinking exactly?" Tsuky interfered again, wanting to see Toya get angry.
But Toya managed to keep her calm and responded to her. " You must think that l don't want to marry him because of the rumors, but that's not true. The reason why I don't want to marry him is because……l…love his highness prince Soren. We have been writing to each other for quite some time now, and we… We love each other." Toya's cheeks blushed as she said those words, and to hide her embarrassment she lowered her head.
Obviously she was lying. She had only seen price Soren a few times when he had attended the Dukes' birthday, and like all the other girls she had fallen for his good looks.
Right now, she was acting, and acting innocent and pitiful was her specialty, everyone believed her instantly wherever she did so.
Tsuky was no different, she was ready to bet her life on the fact that her sister was telling the truth. She was completely convinced that Toya was telling the truth when she thought of her dance with prince Soren. He had acted strangle and said some horrible things to her, but if Toya was telling the truth then his actions would make sense.
Still even if Toya was really telling the truth little did it matter in the current situation. Tsuky needed to think carefully before making a decision on this mater. The thing wasn't simple, it needed to be thought through, but right now she was too tired to think about it.
