It was supposed to be a simple world with magic added in it…………

Many, many years ago, when magic was just a myth and science was the belief of people, six mysterious mirrors were discovered that changed the principles of this world.

Betty waited for the train. The platform wasn’t filled with many people. Just few parents with their teenage kids. Most of them looked nervous as they laughed weekly towards each other. Though some looked confident but Betty could still feel their beating heart as she tried to control her own heart.

Even her Grandpa, who was always joking around and teasing her Granny and her hard headed person like Granny were sitting silently. Her Grandpa smiled at her while her Granny prayed for her. Betty didn’t understand how to think.

‘Don’t worry Betty, nothing is gonna happen there. Be confident’ her Grandpa said. Betty smiled at him trying to look confident. Then they heard the voice of train entering the station which gradually slowed down. It stopped.

Her Grandpa pulled her in, interrupting her thoughts. She looked at station as the door closed automatically. She’s leaving like normal girl but god knows how she may return.

The train started and picked up speed. Betty closed her eyes. The train journey always makes her sick. The train moved and crossed the magical portal. When Betty opened her eyes, the train was already slowing down.

Every country has only one portal to Island of Mirrors, means only one station. It is located at south of Pacific Ocean where the temperature is said to be always led than 20 degrees. That day the news said that it was less than five degrees. Thais the reason why all wore thick woolen clothes.

Grandpa’s watch suddenly buzzed. He clicked it. A female voice came out.

‘Message for Beatrice Morris’ it said, ‘she’s having an appointment at Cave of Mirrors at 4 pm.’

Betty looked at the roof. It was made of glass with instruction listed on it. She saw the time. It’s 10 am. The weather was cold there. She looked at the temperature board on the roof. It said -10 degrees. It was good that they wore thick clothes or they’d have frozen in death out there.

‘Seems we have got lot of time’ Granny said.

‘Let’s go and see some movie’ her Grandpa said, a complete movies freak.

‘Well, that’s good idea’ I supported him.

‘You people are crazy. Betty is gonna have monoration after few hours and you people want to….’ Granny opposed them, as usual.

‘Oh, come on. She’s nervous. Let her distract her mind’ Grandpa tried to convince, as usual.

He took out Betty’s hand without hearing Granny’s response and walked away as Granny followed then, cursing them to stop as Betty any Grandpa smiled crookedly at each other, as usual.

Since childhood everyone waits for their seventeenth birthday, because that is the day when they will get some clarity in future. The day when they get unique magical powers from the six mirrors

That day was 21st August, 2163, Betty’s seventeenth birthday……….
