"Sharon."
Lucas banged opened the dormitory room door as he yelled his roommate's room making Sharon who's buttoning up his shirt to get startled.
Sharon looked back at his roommate and his one and only friend Lucas, panting as he leaned on the door frame,
"What the hell are you shouting for?", he yelled.
Lucas flinched for a second but, he gathered himself quickly as he was already used to his best friend's cold, harsh and introvert nature.
In the middle of his panting,
"I heard something.", he said with a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
Sharon who calmed himself in the meantime,
"What is it?" asked coldly.
Unbothered by his cold attitude,
"I heard Benson Morris's gonna be the lead actor in the movie adapted from your novel." asked Lucas.
' Ahh… F*ck, I was hoping that he would not mention it.'
Sharon thought (although his face didn't show it) before answering,
"Mn."
"I know you're numb by nature but, shouldn't you at least be excited have your idol star as the character you created?!"
Sharon closed the closet after he finished changing and turned to face Lucas,
"I am surprised." His tone was too rigid as if he was forcing himself.
Lucas, "Yeah, I can tell. That you're totally surprised that you're forgetting to breath." said sarcastically.
Squinting his eyes as if he was trying to find words to counter Lucas,
"That would be a bit too exaggerated." said Sharon before walking out of the room after wearing his branded brown leather bag.
Lucas is someone who knew Sharon a bit too well than any others in the world. After all, they've been friends for the past seven years.
Or in Lucas's version, they've been bestest friends ever.
Although Sharon always seemed like he distanced himself from the world, Lucas understood him. He understood that Sharon doesn't express himself like normal people.
He knew that one needs to give special attention to Sharon without any expectations to fully understand him. And, Lucas had it in him. He's capable of giving that kind of special attention. And, that's why he's Sharon's only friend who's close to him.
Maybe those instincts kicked in into him, he believed that Sharon is just feeling shy to express his joy. And thus, he followed behind Sharon.
Lucas, "You got some business?" casually asked.
Sharon, "Meeting with the movie crew."
Lucas's eyes widened in joy.
"No way, man. You're gonna meet your idol."
Sharon sighed and answered, "Mn."
Suddenly something came to Lucas's mind as his expression went from joy to disbelief.
"Big bro! You're meeting your idol and- and, you didn't even dress up for the occasion."
Ignoring Lucas's rambling, Sharon walked in a fast pace. But, Lucas didn't give up.
"Sharon, are you in your right mind?!"
For a moment, 'Why should I dress up for him?' was the question that lingered in his mind but, as he realized that he will give himself away,
"I'm already dressed up well." was the answer he gave.
I can't believe this guy, Lucas thought as he scanned Sharon up and down.
Sharon was wearing a lame and formal full sleeve white shirt which is inned in a pair of tailored black trousers along with his slightly worn out black shoes.
Lucas gave up,
"Whatever makes you sleep at night." he mumbled.
After a long sigh Lucas asked,
"Meeting's at the shooting spot, right?", following with a nod from Sharon,
"How are you going there? Bus?"
Sharon, "Mn."
"How about this? I'm also going the same way as you and I happened to have some time before the dinner with my family. So...let me accompany you."
Without a second of delay, "No need." Sharon said.
"Ah~ Come on... My favorite actress Zara Morgan is also a part of the crew. There won't be another chance like this for me to see her up close. Sharonnnnn...! Please~..."
Letting out a heavy breath as he sorted out his thoughts, "Fine." Sharon finally agreed.
"Yay! Thanks, man." Lucas winked at him which made a faint smile to find its way on Sharon's pink, soft and plump lips.
"Mn."
"Okay! Let's go. Follow me." Lucas grabbed Sharon by the wrist and dragged him out of the University to where his expensive car was parked.
Lucas gave his bike key to his driver,
"Go back home first. I'll be back before dinner."
Driver, "Ah-"
"Oh right, tell dad that I have some business with Sharon."
Driver, "Yes."
Lucas tapped Sharon's shoulder, "Get in." he said.
Sharon, "Mn."
The ride was smooth since it wasn't a busy time of the day. Both of them stayed quite for who knows how long and Sharon finally broke the silence.
"How should I feel now?"
Lucas didn't say anything as he wondered why Sharon took the initiative to talk.
Over the past seven years, the no. of times Sharon took the initiative to talk can be counted within the ten fingers. It's that rare.
But as a medical student who aims to be the best psychologist, Lucas knew that the things that human beings rarely do always has a certain meaning.
And as someone who spent seven whole years with Sharon, he knew it. The actual meaning of Sharon's words when he takes the initiative in a conversation.
He's stuck. Lost in the ocean of his own life, regretting his own decisions.
After analyzing thoughts with a few minutes of silence, Lucas got the answer for Sharon's question.
"How long do you think I've been a fan of Zara?" Lucas asked with a gentle smile on his face.
Sharon looked down at his feet as he answered in a low voice, "Five years."
"Mn. It's been five years." Lucas chuckled at his own childishness before continuing, "Why do you think I idolize her despite the fact that I like guys?"
Sharon looked through the window with a blank look on his face as he wondered about the answer for Lucas's question.
"I guess it's because she's cool and good at almost everything and has a most successful career in the industry."
Lucas chuckled hearing this answer.
"That's what people commonly says when they become a fan of a celebrity."
"And that's what you said as well." Sharon argued like a child which made Lucas to laugh.
"You're right. I said that before." Lucas's tone was so calm and comforting to hear, "But, do you wanna know the real reason?"
"Real reason?!" Sharon looked confused and dumbfounded at the same time.
Lucas, "Mn."
"When I came out to my family as gay five years ago, they accepted me almost immediately."
"Yeah." Sharon answered as his mind wandered around the past.
"But, accepting such big news that easily isn't possible. They were also stressed over the fact that their only son turned out to be gay. Although they acted like they've accepted it, that's just a facade they created to console me."
Thinking back into the past, all those hard times he had been through made Lucas to smile like an idiot.
"That was then, I saw her for the first time on a TV show. I didn't know why but, I was attracted to her, although she's a woman. Zara Morgan."
Saying her name out, he looked at her photo that was hanging down from the front mirror.
"When I told my family about how I liked her, the eyes that had been blank and the faces that had been forcing a smile became lively as before. They started to believe that there may be a possibility for me to be a Bi."
"At that time, I was feeling guilty towards them so, when I saw their eyes lit up, I couldn't let go of it. It didn't hurt to be a fan of her when I actually liked her. So, I became a fan of her."
As he busied himself with analyzing Lucas's answer, Sharon failed to notice the way they were going and only when Lucas parked in front of a mall did he finally notice that they're at the wrong place.
"Why are we here? The meeting is at 'Daisy Entertainment' company building." he asked.
"I know. But, we still got a lot of time before the meeting." Lucas winked at him as he got out of the car, followed by Sharon.
"But, why are we here?"
Lucas went his way towards the mall as he pretended that he didn't hear Sharon.
Sighing heavily in defeat, Sharon followed Lucas who went straight to a Cloth shop.
He picked out a high quality coat and shirt from the rack and hand it over to Sharon who looked at him, a look of refusal surfacing in his eyes.
"No." he said.
"What no?" Lucas became raged as he began to yell at him. "You're planning on attending your first business meeting looking like that. It's not like you're dead poor. Why are you like this?"
Sharon who never liked attention became a bit overwhelmed as the yelling of Lucas' gained the attention of everyone in that shop. Despite noticing Sharon's expression, Lucas didn't even flinch as he continued to yell.
"Why did I even make friends with you? You're always hurting my feelings." When Lucas began to sob, Sharon who couldn't take it anymore placed his hand on Lucas' mouth to stop him.
"Fine. Fine. Give it here."
He grabbed the coat from Lucas' hand went into the changing room without looking back. Lucas knew how pissed he was, yet a satisfactory smile found its way towards his lips.
When Sharon returned, he saw Lucas standing in front of him, grinning ear to ear while holding a pair of shoes on his hands.
The first thought Sharon had is to reject him but, his mind suddenly recalled the chaos that happened a few minutes and grabbed with a defeated sigh.
"Hehe" Lucas giggled like an idiot.
...
"Ah, welcome. You must be 'Writer Yazar'."
Director Sheldon was a famous director in the entertainment industry with more than three best director awards but, he's also well known for his nasty temper and rude way of talking when it comes to his work.
But, despite Lucas' imagination, director Sheldon greeted the both of them with the widest grin on his face.
Lucas returned the grin but, as always, Sharon's face was expressionless, emitting a cold aura as he stood beside Lucas quietly.
"Ah no, It's not me. He's writer Yazar." Lucas introduced Sharon as he realized that director Sheldon mistook him as the writer, "I'm his friend."
"Ah, my mistake. Welcome. These are our crew members." Director Sheldon who didn't even waver a bit by his mistake continued.
"Nice to meet you all." Sharon greeted them with a plain and innocent face before scanning the crowd.
At that moment, no one in there would guess what kind of thoughts were crossing in that innocent looking young writer's mind.
"F*ck, there's too many people in here. And it's f*cking annoying to look at their perfectly faked grinning faces. Sh*t. I wanna get out."
When he was mindlessly scanning the crowd of grinning faces, his pair of golden black eyes landed on a certain someone as if they were getting pulled in to an empty void.
Sharon became a novel writer because he thought that there's no need for him to associate too much with people.
It's not like he hated people ever since he was born. It's just, since he had always been a quiet child, his observing skills were at the top level. And, eventually at some point in his life, he began to see through people's masks. When everyone thinks that their fake masks were foolproof, Sharon was able to easily identify their ugly faces behind the brightest smiles, the saddest emotion hidden behind the widest grins and the evil people behind their kind faces.
One could think that it was a blessing to him. But, it was actually a nightmare for him. It was like living in a world that was only visible to him. Standing in the middle of it all alone.
Over the years, he only met eyes filled with emotions so, when his eyes finally met with a pair of eyes which was an empty void, he couldn't help getting sucked in.
But, he quickly snapped out of it and once he got a good look on the guy who was the owner of those eyes, he was stunned as if he just got hit by lightning.
'Benson Morris'
Sharon's so called favourite actor. A celebrity who Sharon used to hide his true self.
