So call me crazy but aren't God and the Devil supposed to be almighty powerful beings? I get that first impressions aren't everything but I at least expected them to be a little bit responsible considering they'll be deciding where we're going to spend the rest of our afterlife. So the whole bickering like a old married couple was a little disappointing.
You see, I'm currently standing in front of two annoying people who are very convinced they are God and the Devil. You know, the Kings of Heaven and Hell? Well apparently they fight like five year olds.
"Yes I know I made a mistake you idiot! Just take her to your side. It'll be fine!" Said the one who was apparently God.
"B-but s-she wasn't supposed t-to die! I-I can't t-take her back t-to my side!" Stuttered so-called Devil.
"If you don't tell I won't! Plus it's not like we can do anything about it now!" God says starting to get annoyed with the cowardly man beside him.
"H-huh?" Y-you want m-me to l-l-lie? I can't! You know I can't! The boss will be angry!" Whimpered the Devil, close to tears.
"Jeez! You're a Devil aren't you act like one! She killed lots of mortals anyway! She'll bend right in!" Shouted God pointing at me harshly.
"She o-only killed b-bad mortals. P-plus she's s-scary" He said the devil, looking at me fearfully.
I sighed in frustration, could these idiots stop talking like I wasn't here? I have no idea what the hell is going on but I'm pretty sure that the words "mistake" and "die" shouldn't be in the same conversation.
"Um I'm sure you're every busy right now, but could someone please explain what's happening?"
"Oh right! You're still here. Sorry forgot about you for a second." Said God awkwardly laughing.
"W-well about your situation, this may come as a shock to you but I'm sorry to inform you that-"
"Guess what! You're dead!" God said with an inpatient look on his face.
"H-hey your not s-supposed to just blurt it out l-like that!" Said the Devil looking at me apologetically.
God sighed "It's the same every time, she'll be in shock, then she will cry, she'll deny it then after she'll accept it. All mortals are the same." He said with an annoyed look.
I looked bitterly at them with an cold empty smile. I wasn't that surprised. In my line of work it wasn't surprising that I got killed on a mission. I just didn't expect it would be by my best friend.
"Oh ok. So where do I go now?" I said with not much emotion.
God looked at me in surprise, "Oh? What's this? A mortal who doesn't fear death?"
"Death? Been there, done that, didn't really fancy it." I said giving him a blank stare.
He laughed heartily, "I like you! You're a bit less useless then other mortals!"
"Thanks....I think?" I said unsure whether that was a compliment or an insult to my whole entire race.
"U-um I'm glad you guys get along b-but we have bigger problems right now. You see, we kinda made a mistake. You actually weren't supposed to die." The Devil said slightly panicking.
"Yeah, I might've got you mixed up with someone else. Haha." Guiltily said God
I sighed, "You people couldn't get more useless" I mumbled under my breath.
"W-well actually I m-might have found a possible s-solution but it's a b-bit risky" He turned his gaze to the floor.
We looked up at him expectantly, "Well?" We said in unison.
"We could get her to do that..." The Devil said vaguely.
"Your a genius! It's perfect!" God exclaimed.
"Do what?" I asked. They were acting very suspicious.
"So we might have accidentally changed the boys destiny...." God said with sad eyes.
The Devil hung his head "Yes, we made a boy the villain of his own story."
"Huh? what?" I didn't understand what they were talking about. How could you be the villain of your own story.
"I guess it will be easier to read this." God sighed while handing me a document.
As I flick though the pages I feel tears form in my eyes. I was an assassin in my past life so we were stripped of our emotions. Emotions were a luxury for those who were free. We were just tools who was treated less than human. So who why was I feeling pity for a boy I've never met? His story was twisted from the start and ended in betrayal. This feeling was foreign to me. It was weird. I didn't like it.
"So what does this have to do with me?" I sniffed, wiping away my tears.
"W-we want you to c-change this boys destiny" declared the Devil.
"Excuse me?" What crazy idea were they plotting now!
"You'll be fine. All you have to do is defy the heavens and change his fate!" Grinned God
"You do realise you're the King of Heaven right?!" I asked wondering if they were naive or just stupid.
"E-even with his p-power it would s-still be hard to change a f-fate that's already d-decided." The Devil answered
"If you can't do it then I definitely can't! I'll need time to think about it." I decided
"So you'll do it! Come along! No time to waste!" He said pushing me towards a large door.
"Huh?! Wait a minute-" I shouted
"Your name is to foreign. We have to change it! How about....Sylvia Lynch!
"That's great but-" I said trying to get away.
"When you arrive there are three important things to remember:
One: NEVER get to attached to a character! Two: You can ONLY change the targets fate. Three: ABSOLUTELY do NOT fall in LOVE!" Said God in a hurry.
"G-good luck on y-your final mission young mortal!" The Devil said waving.
"I said I need time-" I started.
"Don't disappoint us! They'll be a reward for you in heaven when you succeed! Oh right! Make sure to rate us five star on Immortalgram!"
"Wait you bastards-" And then he opened a the door and pushed me into a brilliant light.
So now apparently I have to: Change a young boys fate. Defy the heavens. Make a villain a king. Help him out smart anyone gets in our way. And of course plot against the hero's. All this while dealing with a cowardly Devil and a selfish God. Trust me it only gets worse from here...
I'm Sylvia Lynch and this is the story of my second life!
I opened my eyes to a unfamiliar ceiling. A piercing pain in my head made me sit up. I groaned. All the memories of what had happened to me came rushing back. Devil. God. A Villain. King. Fate. My Problem.
"Those idiots!" I mumbled.
"What was that miss?" A foreign man sat across from me with a worried frown on his face.
I looked back at him in confusion. Who was he? He was dressed in a waistcoat, grey trousers, a smart shirt shirt with a black tie. Kind of like a butler?
"Er I'm just fine thanks." I said awkwardly.
After that he just looked more concerned but sensed I wasn't in the mood for talking. I looked around trying to adjust to my surroundings. Currently I was in a moving carriage. The carriage was very bland looking with worn out leather seats with a squeaky front left wheel. Who ever put me in this carriage had obviously wanted me to be in discomfort.
I sighed. I haven't even spent five minutes in this world and I'm already have unknown enemies. The world must really hate me.
"Of course it doesn't silly!" A familiar voice said.
"Oh my God!" I jumped in shock at the random voice in my head.
At this point the foreign man was looking at me like I was a psychopath. My cheeks turned red of embarrassment. I smiled apologetically and look away.
"The one and only" The same voice said.
"Is that you God?" I thought in confusion. He always had the worst timing!
"Yep! But don't call me that in the mortal realm! Call me.....Raymond." God said with great pride.
"Raymond? How did it take for you to come up with that name?" I said trying to hold in my laughter.
"Hey! This name is brilliant!" Said Raymond defensively.
"Sure whatever, I'll call you Ray. By the way where's your partner in crime? I asked
"O-oh um I'm here. J-just call m-me Xavier in t-the mortal w-world and p-please don't s-say I'm this reckless f-fools partner in c-crime!" Said other familiar voice.
"Woah Dev- I mean Xavier you're here too?" I said secretly happy I wouldn't have to deal with the other idiot alone.
"Y-yeah, I couldn't let Ray come a-alone"
"But why are you guys here? Before you guys were so excited to get rid of me." I asked still holding a grudge.
"Well we decided we were a bit too harsh on you. So we decided form a contract with you to help with your mission." Explained Ray obviously excited.
"Huh? A contract?" Today kept on getting more and more confusing.
"W-well you see in t-the mortal world w-we can't keep our original form for a very long time, so i-instead we c-can form contracts with m-mortals." Xavier said obviously not happy about being in a unfamiliar place.
"Yeah, we made a contract with you while you were asleep, so now you are officially our master!"
"So you guys are now my contact sprits. Do I summon you or what? I said still not really understanding the situation.
"We actually have three forms: First is the form we're in now. You can only hear us but not see us in this form. We usually use this form for protecting and guarding because we only have enough power to sense everything around our master so we can warn you if enemies are near."
"Second is our animal form. In that form only you can hear and see us but if you wish for someone to see us, they will. Xaviers form is a raven, it means darkness in this world. I'm a wolf which means light in this world. We can use most of our power in this form with some limits."
"Last is most powerful forms. In this form we look similar to humans. Everyone can see or hear us in this form. This is all only form that allows to use all of our power so we use it in big fights and for ultimate attacks. We also use it to blend in the mortals if needed. " Ray explained making sure I know his favourite was the last one.
Wow I sound like some sort of over powered character in an novel. Ray and Xavier will be definitely be helpful in the future especially for my future plans. Although I'm not sure is they will be very reliable.
"So where am I now? And where are we going? I said with a spark of curiosity.
"Well currently y-your on t-the w-way to meet Lucius de Hale Clovis Second Prince of the Luciren Kingdom as one of his potential Fiancé's" Xavier said nervously knowing I would probably get mad.
"Please say that again." I replied in a calm voice with a sweet smile.
"Well er he said you're going to meet the prince and probably get married" Ray said nonchalantly.
"Do you want to die?!" I screamed in my head, trying to keep my cool on the outside.
"W-well as y-you know the s-second Prince is a-actually t-the person we're trying to save in this story s-so we thought I-if we s-sent you b-back t-to the time the p-prince was y-young and m-make you r-replace the a d-dukes daughter who is g-going to engage him, you could get close to him and gain his trust more easily." Xavier explained trying to come me down.
"Wait you said replace the duke's daughter and be sent to when the prince was younger, right?" I looked down to my strangely small hands and touched my foreign silky hair. I turned to the window to catch a glance of my reflection.
"Who the hell is that!" I screamed not being able to control my emotions.
The girl in the window was about 5 or 6 years old, she was pale as snow and was very thin. She had fluffy wavy hair which was a glossy silver colour with vibrant green eyes that shone like a priceless emerald. They had a sparkle of kindness in them that would make anyone believe I had good intentions towards them. She had this certain elegance to her that made her pleasant to look at. But most importantly she was totally cute!
After a few minutes of Ray and Xavier trying who clam me down, started to see a huge palace in the distance. The palace was on a high hill over looking the cheerful town. The walls were white stones that seemed to glisten in the spring sun. It had many tall, overbearing towers that gave it the look of a eccentric crown. It was a vast palace as big as 30 normal houses. Outside there was lots of guards patrolling the gates with long metal swords for anyone who dared make trouble outside the gates.
As I was admiring the beautiful palace, somehow we had already arrived. I looked outside to see four people outside waiting me to get out the carriage.
"The one on the right is the First prince of the Luciren Kingdom, Adriel de Hale Clovis which is also the crowned prince. And the one on the left is our target: Lucius de Hale Clovis, Second Prince of the Luciren Kingdom. The two behind him are probably their personal butlers considering you won't meet the King and Queen officially until next weeks banquet." Said Ray filling me in.
So it was finally happening huh? I sighed, "Here goes nothing." I plastered a bright smile on my face and got out confidently.
Well I say confidently but I totally and a panic attack once I stepped out of the carriage and nearly tripped over my own feet twice.
When I got there I had a closer look at the to brothers. Adriel was the older one who was about 14 or 15, he was certainly handsome for his age. He had soft chocolate brown hair with grey stormy eyes that made him look wiser than his age. He would be a great king. At least that's what I would've said if I didn't know his future fate.
Lucius wasn't handsome but rather very adorable. He was about a year or two younger than me. He had the same glossy sliver hair as me that shimmed in the sunlight with icy blue eyes. They were so innocent and hopeful that if I said in a few years they look dead and empty you would have laughed. He had puffed out rosey cheeks that told me he didn't want to be here but he was still way too cute!
"Greetings your Royal Highness. Thank you for agreeing to escort me." I said to Adriel
"Of course! Your our guest! Welcome to our home miss Sylvia Lynch." Said Adriel excitedly, reminding me of an over excited puppy.
"Thank you. Greetings to the second prince." I said smiling warmly at him.
"Hmph! Brother can we go play now? Don't like her!" Whined Lucius. Dose he not realise I'm right here!
"Lucius please apologise to our guest now. I'll play with you later." Adriel said scolding his brother.
"No! Why should I? She's ugly and I hate her! I only need you!" Lucius shouted. This kid needed to be taught manners! How could such a cute kid be so rude!
"May I have permission to speak freely Your Highness?" I asked. Maybe I'll get permission to scold this rascal!
"Ha! What makes you think you can talk to me! Know. Your. Place."
And that's when I snapped.....
"Has anyone ever told you Your. Highness. Is. A. Royal. Brat." I said with an a evil smirk as I saw everyone's eyes widen in shock.
And that's how my fated encounter with Lucius happened....and how I insulted the Second Prince of the Luciren Kingdom. Haha.
