Love In High School: An Introvert's Tale
The Annoying Girl
Alex sat in the back of the classroom, engrossed in a book. He could hear the chatter of his classmates around him, but he didn't mind. He had learned to tune out the noise and focus on his own thoughts.
But then he heard a sound that made him look up from his book. It was a loud, piercing laugh, coming from a girl a few rows ahead of him. He frowned in annoyance, wishing that she would keep her noise to herself.
The girl continued to laugh and talk, seemingly oblivious to the other students around her. Alex tried to ignore her, but the noise was too distracting. He closed his book and leaned back in his chair, trying to figure out who was making all the noise.
School girls
*Talks a Lot*
That's when he saw her. The girl who had been making all the noise was sitting in the front row, surrounded by a group of friends. She was wearing bright, colorful clothes and had her hair tied up in a messy bun. Alex thought she looked like a walking rainbow, but not in a good way.
He rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to his book, trying to shut out the sounds of her voice. But then she started talking to him, and Alex couldn't ignore her any longer.
Jess
*waving his hand in Alex direction*
Alex hesitated, unsure if he wanted to engage in conversation with her. But something about her persistence made him decide to answer.
Alex
*Trying to keep his voice calm*
Jess
Nice to meet you, Alex!
Alex gave her a small smile and went back to his book, hoping that she would take the hint and leave him alone. But Jess was not one to give up easily.
Jess
So, what are you reading?
Jess
*Craning her neck to see the cover of his book*
Alex hesitated again, not wanting to reveal his private thoughts to someone as loud as Jess. But before he could answer, she snatched the book out of his hands and started reading the title aloud.
Jess
The Catcher in the Rye.
Jess
Interesting choice. I've never read that one before.
Alex felt a flash of annoyance, but then he saw the genuine curiosity in Jess's eyes. He realized that she wasn't just being nosy – she was genuinely interested in what he had to say.
Alex
Well, it's a classic.
Alex
*taking the book back from her*
Alex
It's about a teenager who's struggling to find his place in the world. I think a lot of people can relate to that.
Jess nodded thoughtfully, and for a moment, Alex forgot that he was annoyed with her. They talked about the book for a few more minutes, with Jess asking insightful questions and Alex realizing that she was much smarter than he had given her credit for.
As the class ended and the students started to pack up their things, Jess turned to Alex
Jess
Hey, maybe we can talk more about books sometime. I have a few favorites that I think you'd really like.
Alex was surprised to find that he was actually looking forward to their next conversation. Maybe Jess wasn't so annoying after all.
