I checked my phone and it was just 3:45am. Too early to go outside and see what’s going on in the world. But, the scorching heat is just too much for me to handle. So I just decided to check some of my stuff and finish unpacking them.

The Uni dormitory is okay but not as big as how it was when I was in Tokyo Uni. I just really hope they could install the AC right away.

I took the last box and it is almost 5am in the morning already. “What do we have here then?” I took the box and placed it on the table, took a pair of scissors and open them…

I was stunned and stood still for a moment as I was not expecting that the last box will contain these envelopes of wonders. I grabbed the first envelope and went back to my bedroom.

Hey there!

You have to strictly follow my rule. Since you are away from me, this is my way of keeping you a company. Open the envelope according to the number indicated and make sure to open them every time you feel alone (But do not open all of them in just one day, I know you!!! hahaha)

Remember when we first met? You were still a freshie back then, I asked you to hand me the guitar behind you and started playing it. You were so timid and your sentences were just playing around 3 to 5 words. I honestly want to get close to you that’s why I asked you to give me a song and I will play it for you. Instead, you asked me to play what I feel like playing that day.

I started playing and singing Wake Up by Coheed and Cambria. You said you love the lyrics and you feel the love from that song. Since then, it became one of your favorites.

After going out in the dining area I decided to stay in my room and doze off. I honestly feel like crying that day but I don’t think it will be a good idea.

📲 (Phone Ringing)

Who the fck would call non-stop…

“Yes!?”

“Paige!!! You’re alive!!”

“What the heck?”

“What!? Heck!? It’s your mom BAKA!!” (Baka is an insult in Japan)

“Ow shoot -- Mom! I am sorry. What’s up!?”

“(Laughing) Who the hell would dare to wake up super late? Why aren’t you checking out the city there, don’t you like Thailand?”

“It’s not like that mom. I had a hard time sleeping because it was really hot here”

“The Uncles who will install the AC will be there by 4pm – (background noises from the office) I gotta hang up now, mwa mwa mwa!”

Checked my phone and almost flipped from my bed because it is already 3:43pm “What? I thought I just rested my eyes for nap”

I still can’t believe I doze off that long. Waking up around 4am and woke up again almost 4pm.

I quickly fix my stuff to make room for the uncles who will install the AC and decided to go out and check out some food inside the Uni (Since I am staying in the school condo type-dormitory).

“Hey hey hey!” I heard a loud voice from the corridor. I didn’t mind at first coz (I don’t know anyone from the place yet). “Hey! Can you understand me? Arigato” the girl said while looking at me and bow her head “You mean Konichiwa” I swear I tried to hold my chuckled but it was just too much for me to keep.

“Oww – you speak Thai! I heard your name is Tadashi and you came from Japan so—“ she said while looking a bit shy

“Tadashi is my last name, you can call me Paige – My mom is Thai that’s why I can speak the language” I said

“Cool, that means they can’t take advantage of you here because you can speak and understand the language. By the way I am Zed, Zedley Chaimongkon and I am staying here in B2” she pointed her room which was close with mine as I stay in B1 (hers is B2)

She offer to give me a quick tour of the Uni grounds which I find it really helpful and not so bad of an idea since the Uncles are still installing the AC to my room.

We headed out and had dinner together. We saw some of her friends on some of the eating place in the Uni grounds.

“You’re a bit famous here –“ I said while checking out some stuff from the 7-11 store “Not really, I just happened to study here from grade 7 up until now that I am in college” she said while playing with her phone.

“Hey Zedley! You out with your boyfriend here huh!?” a guy approached us and she gave a greeting of respect. I was just standing still and just looking at them. Zed grabbed my hand and asked me to give respect and greet the guy “This is Paige, he’s a new friend of mine. He just transferred here and came from Japan” she said “Ahhmmm Paige this is P’Thunder. He is one of the Seniors from our Uni” I remember my mom told me about giving respect to the older folks and Seniors. I just completely forgot about it.

“Are you done shopping Paige?” he asked me while looking at my basket

“I think I am good –“ I was unable to say anything as he quickly took my basket and headed to the counter “How about you?” he looked at Zed and asked if she wants to add anything

After paying for my groceries he handed it to me and said “Welcome to Thailand and to our Uni, I’ll see you two around!” I just said thank you (That’s the least that I can say, he went ahead right away so—yeah…)

For a moment I felt happy because I was talking to Zed, seeing the Uni grounds, meeting other people and they were all good to me.

But, when I returned to my room I felt lonely again…

I quickly fix the snacks I purchased, fresh n up and went to my bed…

Song: Waited all night for you to come home, I always hated sleeping alone, Watching the roses wither away – I waited all night yeah you never came…

Monday, today is the first day of the new semester. I was supposed to wake up by 6am but looking at my phone’s clock it was still early. I had a bad dream, people were looking down on me and throwing shame while I was helpless on the ground.

I took a deep breath, prolly one of the deepest that I could ever get.

I went to my study table and check out the box full of letter envelopes.

I didn’t know you will be needing this letter immediately after opening the first one (did I get it right?).

I remember during the Open School Activity I went back to our dorm really late. I found you there waiting and I said sorry multiple times. I remember how you hated it because you are getting bad dreams that’s why I promised to always come home and be with you. Until now that I can’t be with you…

You know how I always wanted to be there with you, watch you and take good care of you right!?

Unconsciously a playlist buried in my head kick in and play the song Roses in my head.

I took my phone and shoot a message to New. I said I hated that the letter was just really timely… I tried to keep up with my emotions but right at that moment I just break down and cry. I feel so alone and my dream was just hitting my emotions where I kept all of my sorrow hidden.

First day in the Uni…

“Hi I am Paige Thongsuk Tadashi, I am transferring from Tokyo University as an exchange student here major in directing and creative writing” I took a bow as a sign of respect as they all press there palm together as if saying a prayer and said sawadee.

Some of them raised their hands as the homeroom teacher open the table for questions and I welcomed all of them.

Have you gone on a tour hear already? (I haven’t yet. But, I heard our Uni offers some educational tours which I am looking forward)

Why did you choose your major? (I like creating films that reflects life in general and explores all genre as well)

Why are you good in Thai? (My mom is a Thai)

Are you single? (I am not seeing anyone now)

The homeroom called for an off as she noticed the questions are getting more personal. (I thank her for saving my @ss)

Over the lunch break I look for a quiet place where I can rest. When I went out of the classroom my homeroom teacher approached me and asked if I am okay because I am looking pale. I said there’s nothing to worry, I am just adjusting on the new environment.

I found a good spot, I take a sit on a bleacher while looking at the green scenery. I took my phone and plugged in my headphone.
