Min Yoongi had overdone himself this morning, a struggling music producer who stressed over the littlest of disturbances in his mixes, obsessive over wanting perfection always.
It had been true that he often came up with pieces of perfection. Sounds that flowed into your ears and relaxed your soul effortlessly. However, he could only explain how much physical- and mental- effort it took him to perfect a piece.
Sometimes he would produce a beautiful piece in the span of mere hours, but other times, he would sit in-front of his music programming system, staring at the screen of his laptop for hours- maybe even days- until he finally gave up.
He would sit on his desk, watching the sun rise and helplessly be seated all day until he watched the sun set in the evening. A whole day spent just sat in front of his laptop, without anything produced, without any work done.
Today had been one of those days, the ones where he would struggle for hours, trying too damn hard but not achieving the final outcome that he deserved.
On those days, the Min would escape the suffocating walls of his apartment to clear his mind, and there was one place- one person- that managed to do that for him.

“Good afternoon! How may I help you?” The boy greeted, flashy smile knocking the breath out of Min Yoongi’s lungs.
Park Jimin... the boy who left Min Yoongi speechless by just smiling at him. Almond eyes turned up to little crescent moons as he beamed at the older, lips stretched into the widest, most genuine smile Yoongi had ever seen.
“H-hey..” Yoongi stuttered for a moment, taken aback by the beauty of the boy even when he’d seen him one too many times. “I’d like an.. iced americano?” The boy decided, “no sugar, please..”
Truth be told, Min Yoongi hated coffee... the bitter, dark concoction left a disgustingly acidic flavour on his tongue each time, and the man would almost crave for the sweetness of a hot tea each time he took a sip.
Why did he buy coffee then, you ask? Simply because, coffee was all this café had to offer, and whilst the idea of the tea station across the street was extremely tempting to Yoongi, he would have to make do with the bitter iced Americano because Jimin wouldn’t be the one to serve him at the tea station.
Jimin looked up at the older again, after punching in the order. “any thing else?” he asked, and Yoongi contemplated, he still had time to change the drink and order a milkshake or something els-
“No.” The man blurted, “No thank you..”
“Well, that would be 4300 won! Would that be in a to-go cup?”
“Yes please,” the man whispered, passing over the money to the boy behind the counter.
“Okay, one iced americano coming right up! Please have a seat, I’ll bring your drink to you shortly.” Jimin smiled brightly, a warm feeling seeping into Mins chest.
“Thank you..” the older boy muttered, turning around before the younger could see the warm tinge spreading across his cheeks and the tip of his nose and ears.
The man sat himself on a table for 2 at the corner of the café, next to the window so that the warm cast of the daylight would shine over him on this chilly winter day.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket, pretending to look occupied as he stole glances at the boy behind the counter.
Sometimes, Yoongi Really wished he had the courage to speak up to the boy and tell him he’d like to take him out, but bold as he may seem, he knows he would probably freeze up just holding a meaningless conversation with Jimin.
The small boy who would always keep smiling, bouncy cotton-candy pink hair reflecting the sunlight, framing his round face beautifully. Yoongi watched as the boy pulled his plump bottom lip between his teeth, eyebrows furrowing in concentration as he tried to cover the to-go cup with its lid, the cutest expression on his face.
As the lid finally got capped on, the boy smiled, dusting his hands on his maroon apron and turning around to grab a straw for the drink. The boy worked with so much concentration and effort, always smiling. Yoongi was convinced that the pink haired boy loved his job, he never lost his smile.
When Jimin looked up from the tray he had organised for Yoongi, the older Turned his head away towards his phone, looking occupied as he scrolled through the home pages.
“Iced Americano..” the boy announced as he came up to Yoongi’s table. “Enjoy your drink.” He smiled, and waited as Yoongi muttered a faint thank you, before turning away and walking back to the counter.
Yoongi smiled absentmindedly, sipping at the drink with the straw but instead of the moan of delight that should’ve escaped Yoongi’s mouth, a grimace made its way to his face.
The sharp acidic and bitter liquid swooshed around Yoongi’s mouth as he swallowed it, a dull aftertaste left on his tongue.
Yoongi looked up from his drink, grimace never leaving his face, as he took in the features of bright Jimin talking to another customer. Yoongi’s grimace faded as a soft smile made its way to his face.
Yoongi hated drinking coffee. But at least the boy behind the counter made it bearable.
“I don’t know Hoseok, i don't think i can make it… I have work to do. And I’ve already eaten!” Yoongi lied, sat in his dark bedroom with his laptop screen illuminating his face.
“Hyuung! I know you’re lying. I’ll stop by with some food, I promise it won’t be a hassle..” Hoseok whined on the other end of the phone, “you have to eat hyung!”
“I told you I’ve eaten now stop bothering me! I have this song to finish, I have to concentrate.” Yoongi scolded the younger, frown implanted on his face as he rubbed his tired eyes. “So talk to me when I’m no longer busy..”
Today had been good for Yoongi. He had sat in front of the laptop late afternoon to work on a latest song and had been working on it all day! It had been a productive day for him, however he had been so concentrated that he hadn’t eaten lunch and now was planning to skip on dinner as well, just wanting to curl up in bed as soon as he completed this song.
However, each time he would skip a meal, somehow his friends would turn up at his door, or call him to invite him for dinner.. Was it pure coincidence or some brotherly instinct? He didn’t know.
“Hyung..” the voice on the other end changed, a heavier, less whiny and more authoritative voice entered Yoongi’s ears, as he rolled his eyes..
Namjoon... the boy would always get Yoongi to listen to him somehow.
“Yes Namjoon..” Yoongi said, annoyed.
“We’re coming to get you.. Seokjin Has cooked a meal today and he ‘specially requests’ for you to be here.. don’t break his little heart.”
“Ah really?” Yoongi muttered, “why didn’t you tell me it was Seokjin who cooked!?” The man couldn’t hide the excitement from his tone, he loved meals cooked by Seokjin. “I’ll be ready in 10, be here soon.” He announced, hanging up before the other could even reply.
Yoongi sighed, resting the back of his head on the headboard behind him. He felt exhausted, like every ounce of energy had been sucked out of him.
Yoongi got up from his bed and walked to the bathroom, splashing some water on his face in hopes of washing the sleepiness away.
— —
“Hyung!” Hoseok cheered, opening his arms wide as Yoongi stepped out the glass doors of his apartment building.
Yoongi whined, moving away as Hoseok wrapped his arms around his torso bringing him in for a bone crushing embrace.
“If you care about your life, Hoseok, move now!” Yoongi scolded, and the younger jumped away obediently, fearing Yoongi’s wrath.
“Hyung!” Namjoon exclaimed, clapping his hands on Yoongi’s narrow shoulders, “Good to see you again.”
“Right back at you.” Yoongi smiled at Namjoon, opening the back door of Namjoon’s car to get in.
The ride back to Namjoon’s and Seokjin’s apartment was filled with chatter and laughs, the brothers filling each other in with whatever they missed in each other’s lives.
— —
When they reached the apartment, Namjoon and Hoseok were pushed out of the way as Seokjin came to hug Yoongi.
“Yoongi-yah!!” Seokjin patted his back, “It’s been so long! Good to see you again!”
“We just met last week..” he said as Seokjin ruffled his hair.
“We missed you! Be grateful for such a kind and caring hyung and loving dongsaengs!”
“Yeah yeah..” Yoongi replied, faking a straight face however Seokjin’s comment made him feel warm inside.
— —
“So hyung..” began Hoseok, slurping on his spicy rice cake soup prepared by Seokjin with love. “You working on a new track?”
“New tracks..” Yoongi corrected, carefully chewing on his Japchae as if he was trying to devour the taste forever. “I’ve been working on multiple tracks recently... some turn out to be amazing! Others not so much..”
“Oh!” Hoseok exclaims. “That explains why you never get time for our group meetings!”
Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok And Kim Namjoon were all collaborating music producers. Cypher, their group had been called. Going around by the names of Suga, J-hope and RM, respectively.
Where they had come a long way together as a group, it was time that they pursued their solo careers on the side as well. Yoongi, known as Agust D as a solo artist was well known, well respected and immensely talented.
“What are you talking about?!” He argued. “I always make time for our group meetings how could you blame me like that!” Yoongi reached to slap a hand at the back of The younger’s head.
“Ah~ ouch~” Hoseok winced “that hurt hyuung!”
“You deserve that!” Seokjin laughed, eyes crinkling as his plump lips stretched out into a smile. “Always teasing your hyungs like this!”
“How could you say that! I’m the most well behaved out of us all.” Hoseok whined, rubbing the tender back of his head.
“So hyung..” Namjoon tried to divert the topic. “Any luck?” He inquired.
“Honestly Joon..” Yoongi trailed off, “its difficult.. I’ve come up with multiple tracks to produce as cypher.. I’m sure you guys will like them too.” He paused, thinking about how hard he worked to produce all the songs.
“But, as rap artist Agust D.. I need to portray a message for everyone. I want to make this album meaningful, for me and for those who listen to it..” he sighed, “and it’s taking time, and a lot of effort.”
“Well that’s great!” Namjoon smiled at Yoongi, genuine and bright. “I hope that you will be able to succeed in following your dream! You’re so important to Cypher because of ur passion and hard work! I’m sure your solo album will be great.”
“Thank you..” Yoongi smiled, worry piled up in his chest as the realisation hit him that he was a part of cypher too, and he couldn’t neglect his two group members for the sake of his solo career.
“I hope so too..”

The bell chimed above Yoongi as he stepped into the warm and cozy atmosphere of the café.
The boy rubbed his hands together in an attempt to warm himself down. It had been especially cold today out there, the sharp winter air nipped onto his skin such that his nose and cheeks were tinted a bright red.
Yoongi blew onto his hands as he walked towards the counter, ready to request for a warm liquid today.
He didn’t care if he bought coffee again, it was so cold outside that all he needed was to wrap his hands around the warm To-go cup of his cappuccino, and let the warm liquid soothe his freezing figure.
“Hello! How may I help you?” Park Jimin beamed at Yoongi, a bright smile adorning his facial features.
And again.. if Yoongi’s cheeks were red before, they bloomed into a brighter shade, warmth spreading across the tips of his ears.
“Hey.. uh... cappuccino please? Tall! No sugar please.” Yoongi nodded towards the smaller boy.
“Mhmm..” Jimin trailed off, punching in his order as the older boy studied the younger’s features.
And Jimin looked irresistibly adorable! Yoongi smiled, finding the pink haired boys pouty lips and concentrated gaze unexplainably cute. He found it extremely difficult to stop himself from reaching over and pinching the boys chubby cheeks.
“Anything else??” Jimin looked up, eye smiles bright as ever, adjusting the black cap on his head closer to his pink hair.
“No, thank you!” Yoongi offered a gummy smile to the boy.
“Well then!” Jimin looked up from the cash register, “that would be 4500 won!”
Yoongi passed his card to the boy as the younger charged his drink onto it.
“Please have a seat! I’ll bring your drink to you soon.” Jimin passed Yoongi’s card and receipt back to him, genuine smile making its way to his face.
“Thank you.” Yoongi received his hard and the receipt back, carelessly stuffing it into his wallet.
Yoongi took a seat at the back of the café today, the warmth back there inviting his cold body.
He fetched his phone out of his pocket, checking a few emails and replying to them.
He then grabbed the notebook out of his bag, the brown leatherback notebook home to countless doodles and song lyrics.
Yoongi smiled as he thought of the boy behind the counter. Park Jimin. The pink haired boy who was always smiling bright as the sun, eye moons brightly beautiful on his face.
Yoongi started writing without thinking about it, ideas flowing out of his head as he expressed them with his pen.
A constant smile adorned his features, tiny yet noticeable. Yet yoongi had forgotten about his surroundings, eyes set on the cluttered words on his paper.
“Tall cappuccino!” Jimin exclaimed beside Yoongi, as Yoongi snapped out of his trance, slightly startled.
Yoongi looked up to the pink haired boy, as he set the tray on Yoongi’s table, gleaming.
“Enjoy your drink!” He exclaimed, Yoongi noticed he was trying hard to contain his smile, as Yoongi muttered a subtle “thank you..”
Yoongi picked up his drink at once, tossing his pen aside as he sipped onto the beverage, pleased moan slipping out of his throat as he swallowed the drink.
The cold and sweet beverage met Yoongi’s tastebuds, another moan of delight slipped out of his mouth as he smiled. But-
Cold...
Sweet....
Yoongi hadn’t ordered a drink that met the description at all. The older confusedly looked to his tall glass, the to-go cup not emitting warmth like he expected it to.
Yoongi looked up to the counter, confusion apparent on his face as he looked for the younger boy.
Perhaps he mixed up the order with someone else. Maybe it was a mistake, Jimin was after all human.
However, that would not explain the tall to-go coffee cup used instead of the usual plastic cups for shakes.
Yoongi looked down to his tray, aiming to keep his glass on to it and walk to the counter, pointing out that his drink had, in fact, been exchanged.
However what stopped Yoongi from doing so was a yellow post-it note, pasted on the brown tray.
Noticed how you would always make a sour face while sipping your coffee.. Trust me, it’s okay to not like coffee! For a change, hope you enjoy your vanilla milkshake!
-Jimin
Warmth... that’s all Yoongi felt spread across his chest as he read the note multiple times, Smile spreading across his lips, a tiny giggle escaping.
And even though Yoongi was thoroughly looking forward to the warm drink, he took a huge sip out of his milk shake looking up to the counter again.
Jimin stood there, smiling at Yoongi as he wiped the counters squeaky clean. The boy brought his hand up, waving to Yoongi from across the cafe as his eyes vanished into crescents. And again, warmth spread across Yoongi, wide gummy smile making its way to his face, as he waved back mouthing a thank you.
And yoongi decided, that this warmth was much better than the cappuccino would ever be able to offer.
— —
When Jimin went around the coffee shop to clean tables later that day, he least expected what was waiting for him on the table Yoongi sat on.
The milk shake was amazing! Better than any coffee I’ve ever had! Thank you.. I hope we can be friends.
~Yoongi hyung.
Jimin smiled holding the note in his tiny hands. He hoped they could be friends too.
