Monsters were stomping all around, and some deadly monster species were swooping all over the castle. Slowly, a dark cloud engulfed the whole moon. Wails could be heard from all directions. It appeared to be an enjoyable game of devastation.
The scene changed inside the castle, where a girl was sitting on the ground holding a man. That girl was terrified and worriedly asked that man.
"Who poisoned you, Francis? What happened to Camilla?"
It was obvious from her tone just how upset she was.
Her hand hadn't ever trembled before, but now it did. One of her friends was about to pass away right before her eyes. She was a formidable magician, yet she was helpless to help her friend.
She was also the reason for everything. She wasn't planning to attack him. Furthermore, she asked her friend, Francis, to support her, but he followed his duties as a Marquis. He fought tooth and nail to fortify the boundary.
'Ad-ela'.
Francis attempted to call her name, but he could not do so properly. She had, however, refrained from using her power to utterly devastate everything here.
[Howls]
Monsters' howls could be heard outside.
Francis opened his mouth to speak, but he was unable to say it clearly.
"D-on't d-o th-is".
Adela, however, went into shock and began to inquire about the name of the poisoner. She asked with a trembling voice.
"Francis, tell me the name."
But Francis had already passed away on her lap. Adela attempted to rouse him awake, but it was pointless.
"Francis".
Her voice was gradually quivering. She touched her mouth as her eyes grew wider. It was difficult for her to accept that Francis had died. She had never had to face the body of a loved one before. Even when her parents were assassinated, she did not attend the funeral.
Adela quavered with terror. She suddenly had a profound sense of loneliness. It appeared that nobody was there to help her. Adela trembled and rose to her feet. An inexplicable terror surrounded her.
She urged her snake to stay with Francis, and she went inside to find Camilla.
"Camilla".
Adela called aloud her friend's name as she wrenched open their bedroom door. She could not find anyone. Even though she lost Francis, she wouldn't want to lose Camilla at this time. At all costs, she had to save Camilla.
"Where are you, Camilla?"
But as she was about to call Camilla again, someone abruptly stabbed her in the back. A person shoved Adela to the ground just as she turned around to see. Adela's eyes grew narrower as she realized the mystical power used to make the dagger. She was a bit dizzy and couldn't see that person's face well.
"Wh-".
Adela attempted to call her Taipan snake, but that person just booted Adela's hand with her leg. Adela struggled to breathe when she suddenly realized how painful death would be.
It startled Adela when she heard a female voice.
"Adela, I hate you. When we first met, I wished I could kill you."
Adela's mouth fell open, and she cried out in agony, "Why? Who are you?"
Her tone became weak. However, the moment that girl saw Adela in agony, she burst out laughing. "By killing you, I am only making things easier for the prince," the girl claimed. "After all, he'll kill you either now or tomorrow".
***
Adela was lying on the marble floor. She was merely counting her time of death and could hear the howling of the monsters louder than before. Adela's monsters would vanish if she died at this moment. But no, it wasn't happening. Why wasn't it happening?
When Adela coughed, blood immediately spurted from her mouth. She attempted to crawl near the window. Adela carefully rose and drew the curtain back to look down. She saw that every one of her creatures was bowing to a female. And that girl was wearing the same cloak, and she was the one who stabbed her.
Adela gritted her teeth in regret and fury. She was helpless to put things right. But why did this happen to her? She knew the emperor was unwilling to give the throne to his first son. Similar to how the emperor did no justice to the deaths of her parents. Her father was the duke of the country, but still, the emperor showed no interest in giving them justice. Adela decided to assist the first prince because of the emperor's tendency toward partiality.
So why did the prince want to murder her? When she was indirectly assisting him. She just wanted justice for her parents and nothing else.
Adela collapsed on the ground while gazing upward. She really wrecked everything. As she was thinking about all of this, she started crying. She was responsible for the deaths of so many innocent people. Now she could sense the agony of dying. She spoke in a trembling tone, biting her bottom lip.
"God, please pardon me for killing innocent people. Please pardon my sins. I genuinely didn't expect to be killed by a coward. I only wanted a face-to-face encounter. If I had a second chance, I wouldn't have made this mistake. I wouldn't hurt my friends, I wouldn't take innocent lives, and I wouldn't be my father's wicked daughter."
After a while, everything came to an abrupt halt. Adela sensed a force pulling her inside. It was a dazzling light, and everything went dark in an instant.
*********
Adela's lifeless body was on the ground. Everything was destroyed outside of the palace. Because of the blaze, the sky turned tan, and the smoke from the fire was touching the sky. Monsters killed almost everyone and slowly started going towards the palace.
At the same time, Adela's surroundings were illuminated. And gradually, that light blossomed into a stunning goddess.
The goddess of forgiveness, Hebe, emerged from the light. She glowed like a blinding light. She beamed as she took a step closer to Adela. It appeared as though a calmness descended from heaven to earth as the surroundings steadily stood in silence. All motion came to an abrupt halt.
"Adela".
The room was overflowing with a lovely voice. The goddess stroked Adela's cheek with her two lovely outstretched hands. "I am fulfilling your dream, Adela," she stated in a pleasant voice. "You now have the opportunity to clean up your mess."
Hebe finished her speech, and the atmosphere immediately brightened.
To be continued.
Inhaling deeply, Adela opened her eyes and sat up on the bed right away. She gasped for air. She found it impossible to accept what she was seeing.
After a while, she widened her eyes, looked at her hands, and gently touched her face. She murmured to herself, "What is going on? I was dead, right?"
Adela leaped out of bed as she considered moving toward the mirror. She caressed her face and opened her mouth wide. She muttered in an incredulous tone.
"Oh my God, I'm still alive."
However, the door suddenly opened, and Adela's maid rushed inside. When she spotted Adela, she burst into tears and embraced her firmly. Adela could not comprehend anything. It made her wonder what was happening around her.
Adela's maid, Elise, said in a worried tone, "Are you okay, my lady?"
Adela arched her brows and said, in a startled manner, "Yes. What happened to me? Elise, why are you crying?"
Elise turned her head when she heard Adela and looked at her with startled eyes. She questioned with concern, "What? Don't my lady remember she had a fever last night?"
Adela's eyes grew smaller as she spotted Elise's pitiful appearance. She considered what Elise had just said. Did she have a fever?
"I stayed awake all night watching over you, milady," Elise said again. "Even the Duchess was with you."
"Mother?" Adela mumbled in a startled tone.
Adela lowered her gaze after a minute as she considered something. She hesitantly walked up to the mirror and touched the glass.
Adela's Aside.
Fever? Yes, I have had high fevers before, the most severe of which knocked me unconscious for the whole day. That means that I go back to that morning from two years ago. I have thus been reborn.
After a while,
Some servants heard a scream coming from Adela's chamber. They set down their tools and faced the doorway. They suddenly saw Elise rushing out of the chamber. They were shocked to see Elise and began muttering among themselves.
Maid 1: "What's up with Lady?"
Maid 2: I think she has awakened.
Maid 1: But why did Elise rush in such a way?
Maid 3: [loudly sighed].
Maid 3: We have nothing to do with that. Let's do our work here quickly, or Miss Adela will yell at us as well.
They looked perplexed and shook their heads.
Adela's chamber,
Adela took a seat on the bed. She never thought she'd get another chance. After a moment, a smile flashed across her face. She wouldn't make the same mistake again.
"I'm grateful to God for giving me this second chance. This time, I will not let you down."
Adela made a bow, closed her eyes, and expressed her gratitude to God. She exhaled deeply and looked up, saying, "Adela, Virginia, this is your chance; you must move right away."
"This time, I won't get myself into any problems. I won't harm anyone. I'll ignore the prince because he deserves it, and I'll attempt to find my murderer and my parents' murderer."
She rose to her feet and stared at the entrance, mumbling, "But where are my parents?"
****
Female protagonist,
Adela Virginia is Duke Alfred's daughter.
Profession: mage.
Personality: Elegant, courageous, sincere, and subtle.
Pink lips contrast with white, creamy skin, blue eyes, and light, natural blonde hair.
Strengths: She can use power to raise and create monsters. Capable of taking down any sorcerer. She is an excellent defender. She can control all beasts. She appears kind from the outside, but in this story, she is the villain.
She had raised a Taipan snake since she was a young girl. She gave it the name "Oba."
The show begins.
Adela hurried out of her room, wearing nothing on foot but her pajamas. She hadn't seen her parents in over five years. Every servant was astonished to see her rushing in that style. While running, Adela encountered her father's assistant.
He was stunned to see Adela running toward him. Before he could ask questions, Adela bolted.
"Is Lady all right?" murmured Carson quietly.
Adela noticed her mother and Elise coming towards the hallway as she was hurrying there.
"Mother?"
Adela mumbled and swiftly ran to her mother, giving her a warm hug.
"Mother, I truly miss you," Adela said as she smelled her mother's aroma. She missed her mother's embrace. Adela's mother also embraced her daughter tightly. It seemed like a long time had passed by and they finally met.
"Oh my sweet daughter, are you okay? We were worried about you," her mother remarked.
Veronica Virginia, Adela's mother, is a fire mage with golden hair like fire and blue eyes like the ocean.
She stroked her daughter's head. Adela relaxed her grip on her mother's arm and made a teary-eyed, contented face as she glanced up at her. "Mother, I love you," she said with a smile.
Adela was actually a selfish girl in her previous life. She disregarded her parents and always followed her preferences.
Veronica was pleased to see her daughter behave in this way, but she was a bit taken aback by how Adela was reacting. That her child had a sensitive side was something Veronica was unaware of.
"However, honey, why did you come here so hastily?" Veronica worriedly touched Adela's head to check her temperature and said, "Is it normal now?"
Adela was doing OK; she was no longer feverish. Veronica was a little shocked by this, though, considering Adela had a fever even the night before, and now it was completely gone.
"Adela, your fever?" Veronica said.
But Adela said, blinking her eyes and smiling, "Mother, I was missing you." She didn't have a headache with her temperature because her main concern was her mother.
Veronica smiled at Adela before speaking to Elise.
Veronica ordered, "Take my princess to her chamber and give her a wonderful makeover."
Elise answered, "Yes, Madame."
But instantly, Adela asked, "Why, mother?"
"Honey, do you forget everyone will return from the battle today? And to honor our victory, we're having a grand party tonight," remarked Veronica.
Adela widened her eyes. Yes, she could still recall the celebration at the royal palace from her memories.
To be continued.
After that episode,
She only wanted her parents to stay away from the emperor. But she knew she couldn't since her father, as Duke, had to remain with the Emperor. But how could she stop them now? First, not letting them visit there, which was impossible.
The second step was to stand by them and protect them.
Adela gave her mother a snug smile before asking, "Mother, is it necessary to attend?"
"What are you saying, Adela? Of course, we should. As the duke and duchess of this realm, we must attend and remain with the emperor," replied Veronica.
Adela's eyes narrowed when she heard the word "emperor." Her mother then said, "However, you just overcame a fever. You may remain here".
But Adela spoke out quickly, "No, I will go too."
"Okay, honey, then get ready," Veronica responded with a smile. After saying this, she walked away from there. Adela kept looking straight ahead at her mother's pathway. She had made up her mind to choose option two. She would go and protect her parents.
Elise was helping Adela get ready for the bath. She was washing Adela's long, silky smooth hair. Adela closed her eyes and relaxed in the warm water of the bathtub.
Elise said, "My lady, your hair shines every day more and more.
When Adela heard Elise's statement, she smiled.
In her previous memories, Elise was really helpful. Yet, she was also poisoned to death.
Elise was talking to Adela, but she suddenly became scared and jumped over the side of the tub while Adela was immersed in thoughts.
She screamed, "My lady!"
After hearing her scream, Adela opened her eyes. She was not surprised, since she understood why Elise had shouted. Adela turned around and grinned while looking down at the floor. Her voice was pleasant when she said, "My baby is here."
Adela said, reaching out her hand as a little snake hissed and moved toward her. It then crept up her hand. Elise's frightening gaze was fixed on them.
"My lady, why do you always let him go free? He has venomous teeth, Elise said. The snake instantly hissed at Elise. Elise stepped backward out of fear.
Adela chuckled when she saw Elise in this sight and said, "It's okay. Unless I tell him to or unless there is danger, he won't bite anyone."
As soon as he heard his master's words, he rubbed himself in her palm. "Why are you so afraid of him? It's only a baby," Adela stated. "My lady, I don't want to die in a baby's hands," Elise remarked pityingly.
"hissss."
Oba hissed at Elise after hearing her.
Elise called out to Adela in a trembling voice, "my lady."
"No problem, Oba. She likes you, too," Adela remarked as she patted Oba's head. "Go ahead, touch it," she urged Elise.
Out of terror, Elise shook her head no. However, Adela was always a villain. "If not, I will command Oba to chase you," she threatened.
"hisss."
Oba hissed as if he understood Adela.
Elise cried in terror as she added, "My lady."
"Yes."
Adela nodded and grinned mischievously at her. When Elise couldn't think of anything else, she approached the snake cautiously and tried to touch it. As she extended, her hands trembled.
"hiss."
Elise screamed in terror as she moved her hand, "Oh God." Adela laughed as she caught sight of her.
Adela chuckled aloud.
"haha."
"You don't have to pamper him right now. Go at your own pace," Adela remarked as she stepped out of the tub. She put Oba in his place before leaving to dress.
**
Elise was assisting Adela with her dress. She was combing Adela's hair when a maid rapped on the door.
[Knock]
"Yes," Adela responded.
"My lady, Ms. Camilla, is here to greet you," a maid said as she entered the chamber, trying to lower her head.
"Camilla?"
Adela said enthusiastically while widening her eyes. She stood up and ordered the maid, "What is there to wait for? Escort her here."
"Yes, my lady," the maid said, going out of the chamber as she spoke.
Elise asked Adela in a startled tone, "Are you okay, my lady?"
Elise was startled to see Adela. After waking up from the sickness, she observed Adela was acting so strangely.
"yes I-".
But just as Adela was ready to say something, she heard Camilla's voice.
"Adela," a sweet, calming voice spoke from behind Adela.
When Adela turned to face the door, she spotted her best friend standing there.
The image of that night flashed across her memory in an instant.
'Camilla? I didn't find you in your chamber that night. Maybe they poisoned you as well, or maybe you were also killed by them,'~ Adela thought.
Adela's best friend, Camilla Victor, is the daughter of the count, David. She is also stunning and bashful, as well as a mage. Her complexion is milky white, with red lips, crimson eyes, and light red hair.
Adela tightened her lips before running up to Camilla. "I missed you, Camilla," she murmured as she tightly hugged Camilla.
Camilla couldn't figure out what was wrong with her because she had come to meet Adela just the day before. Adela was unconscious, so she was not aware. Adela looked as though she hadn't seen Camilla in a while, which was regrettable.
Camilla smiled and asked, "Are you okay, Adela?"
Adela released Camilla after giving her a glance and a silent nod.
"Adela, I'm happy to learn that you're feeling better. You did not know how worried I was," but Adela interrupted her and said, "I know that you were pretty concerned and stayed with me the entire day."
"How do you know that?" Camilla asked.
She was a little taken aback when she heard it. Elise nodded blankly when Camilla turned to face her.
