The Encounter
Purple
I have gone to two companies, but there is always no vacancy. Where should I apply? I'm sweating again. My make-up has faded along with wiping the sweat off my face.
Purple
My feet also hurt from walking. It's time for lunch. I have walked a long way. If I go home, I will run out of time because I will have to walk again, from home to here. I looked around and saw a small food house. I'll just have a cup of noodles to at least warm my stomach, even without rice.

When I entered, I immediately went straight to where the cup noodles were displayed, and then I got the beef flavor. I put hot water on it, and soon it can be eaten. I sat on a chair in the corner and enjoyed sipping soup. After I finished the cup noodles, I went out to look for another company to apply to again. I went through Rizal Street; there were only a few people, and cars rarely passed through it. I'm on the right side of the road, and even though there are no cars, I still need to be careful. When I saw a building on the left side of the road, I hurried to cross to pass my resume, but I was startled because when I turned around there was a car!

Shit! What the hell? I think I bumped into something! I quickly got down to see what I had bumped into. Bad trip! I saw a woman lying in front of my car. ****! I've only been here in Manila for five days, and this is how I'm going to be greeted?!

"Miss!" I shook her so she might wake up. "Hey, Miss! Miss!" Oh, no! She really passed out.

No choice! I had to pick her up and put her in my car to take her to the hospital. I put her in the back seat and drove the car to the hospital, using Google Maps. If Dad hadn't made me the director of the company, I wouldn't be living here in the Philippines! And of course, if it weren't for Mom and Dad! To be honest, I really like Mexico better than here.

I stopped my car in front of the hospital and got out to pick up the woman I bumped into. She's so heavy! I think she is as heavy as a pig.

"Nurse, emergency!" I shouted. Actually, this girl only has scratches. It's still far from the gut, so she won't die yet.

The two nurses immediately took the emergency stretcher bed.
Nurse
"Please put her here, sir."

They hurried her into the emergency room.

I sat in the waiting area while waiting for the doctor.
Doctor
"Mister, are you the patient's girlfriend?"
Shawn Amari
The doctor suddenly asked me, so I was shocked.
Doctor
"But aren't you the one who lifted the female patient earlier?"
Narrator
The doctor said with a frown.
Shawn Amari
"What I mean is that the patient is not my girlfriend. I was the one who bumped into her with my car," I explained.
Doctor
"Okay, by the way, the patient's condition is fine. There is only a slight scratch on her arm, but she will still feel pain in her body, especially in her knee, because of the wound. She needs rest, and later, when she wakes up, she can go home."

"Alright, Doc. Thank you!" I replied briefly to the doctor.

I paid the hospital bill, and then I went to the room where the woman I bumped into was.

When I entered the room, the woman was still asleep. I sat in the chair next to the stretcher where the woman was lying. My day was ruined because of this woman.

I was surprised when she suddenly opened her eyes, so I stood up.

She slowly sat up and was surprised to see me.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

"Don't you know me?" I smirked at her.

"I'm Shawn Amari Dominguez, the new the director and the son of the owner of a famous company here in the Philippines. Don't you watch television or even read magazines?" I crossed my arms.
Purple
"I'm not interested in you! What I'm asking is... who are you? I mean, why am I here with you? Why am I here?!"
Shawn Amari
"Miss, I was the only one who bumped into you because of your stupidity," I said calmly to her. "You didn't even turn around when you crossed the street earlier," I said, holding my breath.
Purple
"Why does it seem like it's my fault? You're a car driver, so you should know that someone will cross! Or maybe, you drive the car so fast—like the king of the road!"
Shawn Amari
What else can I say to this woman?
Shawn Amari
"Miss, just relax! You know, I wasted my whole day because of you. Just thank me for not running away from you. I paid the hospital bill. What else do you want?" I scratched my head.
Purple
"Oh, Mister! Don't you know, my whole day was also wasted because of what you did? I'm applying for a job!"
She said and took a deep breath.
Purple
"Maybe if you hadn't bumped into me, I would have had a job."
Shawn Amari
She bowed and suddenly became quiet. I looked at her, and she looked at me like a child robbed of candy.

I don't know if I'm going to be mad or pity her.
Shawn Amari
"Ok, I'll hire you as a janitress for the Dee Group of Companies," I said.
Purple
"What?! Janitress?! I'm a graduate of a four-year course, and you're going to give me a job like that? I've dreamed of becoming a secretary for a long time, and, yo-"
She smirked and crossed her arms.
Purple
"My sponsor spent a few years on my education, and you'll just hire me as a janitress? You know, I really need a job with a high salary for my family."
Shawn Amari
She said and looking at me again like a child begging for candy.
Shawn Amari
"You should be a reporter, not a secretary! You've said so much! If you don't want that kind of job, then I should leave now." I told her and turned to leave.
Purple
"Hey, Mister! Ouch! Help me! Don't leave yet!"
Shawn Amari
I turned around, "Can you plea–"

I saw her sitting on the floor. If it's possible for me not to help her, I really won't help her!

I helped her stand up and sit on the stretcher. I saw tears forming in her eyes. I don't know, but maybe it's because she can't walk or something hurts her.

"Why?" I asked.
She answered calmly, wiping her tears with her right hand.

"No. Don't mind me, I'll take care of myself. By the way, thank you, and I'm sorry for the trouble."

I don't know, but I felt sorry for her. Maybe she is really desperate to work because of her family.

"Come on, I'll take you home." I forced her, and I turned around. "Here, behind me," I said, and I felt her slowly hug my neck and put her body on my back. I slowly stood up, and I held both of her calves with my arms so that I could carry her properly.

She doesn't say anything. I don't know, but I can feel the pounding in my chest getting stronger. Maybe because this is my first time carrying a woman on my back.

It's a good thing that the public doesn't know that I'm here in the Philippines; otherwise, the paparazzi might have taken pictures of me. Being famous like me requires being careful. Right now, I'm still free to go around and do what I want, but in the next few days, there will be many eyes guarding me—the walking and living CCTVs.

After we arrived at the parking area, I slowly put her down.

I opened the car door and said, "Here." I helped her get into my car. I made her sit in the driver's side seat, so she could easily point out where I would drop her off.

"Santa Rosa, Manila."

I opened the Google Map and stopped the car for a moment to search for the place.

"Why did you stop?"

"I just searched Sta. Rosa, Manila, on Google Maps. I'm sorry, I've only been here in the Philippines for five days. I grew up in Mexico with my Grandma, so I'm really not familiar with this country, especially the places here."
Purple
"So, do you know how to speak Filipino?"
Shawn Amari
"Yes, because in Mexico, I'm with my grandmother, and most of the helpers there are Filipinos," I explained.
Purple
"But, are you good at Spanish?"
Shawn Amari
"Of course!" Then she suddenly smiled at me.
Purple
"Really? Alright, hmm. I love you!"
Purple
"That's hard to pronounce!" I frowned and winced.
Shawn Amari
"You are going to be my secretary, so you have to study it."
Purple
I swallowed because of what I heard. "What?! Why should I learn to say "I love you" in Spanish? What is the connection of "I love you" for being a secretary?"
Shawn Amari
"I didn't say that you will learn the word 'I love you'. What I mean is, you need to learn to speak Spanish because you will need it especially since there are many Spanish calling the office for business matters."
Purple
"Am I just going to study Spanish?"
Shawn Amari
"Not just the Spanish language."

"Aside from Spanish, you also need to learn how to speak in Korean, German, Chinese, and Japanese."

"Are you sure? I thought I was a secretary. But I think, you're going to make me a Translator!" I glared at him.

"If you don't want to, you still have time to think about becoming a janitress."

"No, thanks," I answered. "We're here. Please, stop the car."
He suddenly stopped the car.

I smiled at him. "Thank you for taking me home."

"Won't you let me in?"

He asked when I was about to get off, so I sat down again.

"Huh? But..." I suddenly winced. It's not that I'm ashamed of our house or anything; it's just that he's a billionaire.

"Should I take your job back or will you let me in?"
Purple
I haven't said a few words and just stared him.

"I'm just joking! Okay, you can get off now."

"Uh, thank you." When I opened the car door, I turned and looked at him.

"I still can't walk alone," I said. I was embarrassed to tell him, but I couldn't do anything because I might even roll over if I fell.

He immediately got out of the car and helped me to get off.

I was surprised when he suddenly carried me like a child.

"Hey, put me down! It's embarrassing!"

"Aish! I said just drop me off."

"I won't. Tell me the direction of going to your house."

"Just go straight, and then on the right side there's a small alley going in; go straight there too, and then you'll see a brown and white house that's a bit old; that is my house."

I covered my face with my hair. I knew for sure that people would talk about me again, when they saw me with a man.

"Is this your house?"
Purple
I slowly turned my head. "Yes. Put me down."

When he had me down, he turned his eyes around. I think, he was very surprised because it was his first time going to a place like this. Apart from being crowded, the houses were small, and there are many eyes watching.

"Alright, I'll get inside. Thank you, again."
Shawn Amari
"Aren't you going to let me in?"
Purple
"I'm sorry but I think, my Mom is not here, so it's a little bit awkward if I let you in."
Shawn Amari
"Is that so? Okay, I'll go ahead now."

"Hey, Purple! Who is that guy with you?"

"The person who bumped me," I answered.

"What happened to you?"

"It was just an accident. I need to rest, so I'm going inside."

Sometimes, I get really irritated with people because every move I and my family make seems like they are always watching us.

I suddenly closed the door. I sat down in the chair in front of the table. "Mom?"

Suddenly the door opened, so I was surprised.

"Oh, why are you still here?" I exclaimed when I saw Shawn.
