Ian Summers
Mr. Mancini...
Ian Summers
It's... an unexpected honour!
In the middle of the night, a group of men stood outside the Summers household.
All of them were carrying weapons and made no effort to conceal them in front of Ian Summers.
The man, different from the rest, took a step forward, pushing Ian further into his own foyer.
Ian Summers
I-I... this is an unexpected surprise...
Romeo Mancini
Where is she?
Ian Summers
Upstairs, sleeping in her bedroom.
Ian Summers
But Sir, doesn't this seem a little... too sudden?
Ian Summers
You could come back tomorrow, she'd still be there-
The two men on either side of their boss took off up the stairs, their footsteps creaking the old wooden steps.
Romeo Mancini
Come back tomorrow...
Romeo Mancini
Why would I come back tomorrow when I'm here right now?
Ian Summers
So, Mr. Mancini...
Ian Summers
About the deal-
Romeo Mancini
Your daughter is being taken from her bed, against her will, at 3am in the morning and you want to talk about our 'deal'?
The man named Mr Mancini sighed before looking down at the man addressing him.
If you could refer to Ian Summers as a 'man'.
Romeo Mancini
On delivery, your debt will be paid in full, along with 1.2 million as alimony.
Romeo Mancini
In return, you will never speak to me or your daughter again. I am not your son-in-law, and you are not my family.
Romeo Mancini
In your eyes, it will be as if you never had a daughter.
Romeo Mancini
You are not entitled to protection, and if you dare show your face in front of me again, I'll put a bullet through your skull just as fast as I arrived.
Ian Summers immediately sat down before he passed out, trying to control his shivering.
Ian Summers
That sounds... correct.
There was a moment of silence before Mr Mancini realised that something was wrong.
There wasn't any noise upstairs.
Slipping his hands into his pockets, he walked up the stairs cautiously, taking out his gun and walking along the small corridor towards the room right at the end of the corridor.
The door was slightly ajar, and cold air rushed through as he slowly opened it up.
Two men were on the floor, groaning, their weapons nowhere to be found.
Both of them had bruising around their neck and one of the men had a bloody back head.
The other had his hands tied with what looked to be mesh ripped from the curtains around her bed, and the window was wide open.
Ian quickly rushed up behind Mr Mancini and gasped.
Ian Summers
Sir, you've got to believe me...
Ian Summers
She had no idea you were coming...
Ian Summers
I never told her anything, I-
The man turned around slowly, pressing his phone against his ear after dialling a number.
Romeo Mancini
Yes, it seems like my wife wants to play chase.
Romeo Mancini
Oh, and be careful. She's armed with two loaded handguns.

Chapter 2 - The Songbird
In the heart of Mixmillan, a club called "The Songbird" was the place to be.
Located in the centre of the grand capital city of Miria, it was a prime location to party and have fun without worry.
While people normally go to clubs wearing their best clothes in the hopes of scoring a date, I was walking through the city barefoot and in my pajamas, with only a robe covering me.
You could be sure, I got some weird looks from the wrong kinds of people.
Stopping outside "The Songbird", the line wrapping around the building like a snake, the bouncer took one look at me before letting me in.
The outrage from the line was obvious.
Party Girl
Hey, this isn't a hotel!
I ignored her and walked inside, immediately surveying the club.
As bustling and busy as usual, I felt satisfied enough to walk up the stairs guarded by two men who immediately stepped out of my way, not daring to question my choice of attire.
I walked up the steps, my feet cold and hurt from walking on concrete bare, and I ended up sitting in a large red leather chair right in the centre of the empty area.
I sat there for two seconds before a door opened, and a man walked out to greet me.
Kai Blackburn
Ari, I wasn't-
He immediately stopped speaking once he noticed how I was dressed.
He also noticed the bulging pockets of my nightgown, which I slipped my hands into and removed not one but two handguns.
Aria Summers
It seems that I had unexpected company at my house...
Kai Blackburn
Are you hurt? Your feet...
I looked down and noticed that one of my heels was bleeding. I hadn't even noticed.
Kai got up and rushed towards his office before coming out with a basin of water, some disinfectant and some bandages.
Kai Blackburn
What happened?
I looked at him while he washed my feet and sighed, falling back onto the back of the seat, trying to withstand the sting.
Aria Summers
My father happened.
Aria Summers
From the brief conversation I picked up, it seems that he's sold me.
Kai Blackburn
Wait, sold you-
Kai Blackburn
Aria, that's illegal-
Aria Summers
The law is more society's guideline to the people that he seems to have sold me to.
Kai Blackburn
Aria... you should have moved out when you had the chance!
Kai Blackburn
We can get you living somewhere safe.
Kai Blackburn
Surely they'll leave you alone once you go into hiding for a bit.
Aria Summers
I don't know. For some reason, I feel like these people collect what they are given.
Aria Summers
Anyway, do you still have that change of clothes that I left here?
Aria Summers
Good... enough people have seen be in my sleepwear today.
Aria Summers
Also, extend tonight's closing hours to 8am.
Aria Summers
I want this place busy for as long as possible.
Aria Summers
When people start passing out, tell me?
After he bandaged my feet up, he looked up at me and frowned.
He stared at my injured feet, his eyes looking like they were about to tear up.
His fingers brushed down my legs, his expression filled with an intense stillness.
Kai Blackburn
I'll kill him for what he's done.
Before I met him, Kai was a hitman, and a very good one at that.
However, I didn't employ him here to have one on hand.
He looked up, observing my stern expression before sighing, leaning his head against my knees.
Kai Blackburn
Right... no killing anymore.
Kai Blackburn
I'm sorry, I just got so angry.
Kai Blackburn
I normally get used to dealing with blood, but for some reason, when it's yours, I-
Guard
Boss, someone is here to see you.
Kai's head lifted up and he got off of his knees to face one of our security detail.
Kai Blackburn
Right, my 4am appointment...
He turned back and looked at me, feeling guilty.
Kai Blackburn
Your outfit is in my office closet.
Kai Blackburn
Try not to walk on your feet...
Finally, time to get out of this and put on something a little more suitable...

Chapter 3 - His Moment
Ian Summers
Sir, this is a big misunderstanding...
Ian Summers
She's probably just sneaked out for the night. You know kids these days...
The man sat in the main armchair of the lounge, his eyes appearing red from the flickers of the flame from the lit fireplace.
Romeo Mancini
A young woman doesn't make two armed men unconscious just because she wants to leave to party.
Ian Summers
Sir, I promise, I have nothing to do with it all.
Ian Summers
I was going to hand her over to you, I had no idea that you were coming to get her-
The man leaned in, his fingers weaved together in an arch.
Romeo Mancini
I don't doubt that you weren't responsible for this.
Romeo Mancini
But she's my responsibility now.
Romeo Mancini
Until she has been found, your payment will be halted.
Ian Summers
B-But I have to pay the investors by Monday...
The man got up from the chair, his eyes looking like something straight out of Dante's "Inferno".
Romeo Mancini
Then, you'd better start praying that she's found by then.
With that message, Romeo Mancini walked out of the Summers estate and right into his car.
The two men who had been unconscious only an hour previous were in the front of the car, one more able to drive than the other.
As the man slid into the car, he closed his eyes before looking into the mirror.
Romeo Mancini
And call Dominic. I want her in my bed by tonight.
The two men nodded, and the car drove off into the brisk Friday evening.
Finally, I had managed to slip myself into a gorgeous red backless dress.
Thanks to my bandages, I had to dispense with the matching high heels, so I settled for Kai's slippers instead.
A little more forgiving on my sore feet.
While Kai was away at a meeting, probably with a liquor company seeking to get their product served in our bar, I sat down on the bench next to the barrier and gazed down at the party girls and guys.
They seemed to happy, so carefree...
If I could waste an evening getting drunk at a bar, I'd probably feel the same way.
Who was that man at my house? And why did his henchmen carry so much firepower?
I'm just a girl, regardless of my agility and ability to finish a fight quick and easy.
I walked over towards the table, picking up both of the handguns.
They still had their serial numbers on them... so whoever owns them either works for law enforcement (unlikely guess), or has a very dangerous pass-time.
Aria Summers
Who have you gotten yourself mixed up with this time, dear old Daddy?
