Qin Empire.

Imperial Palace.

It was the middle of the night and black clouds were covering the sky. With the rumble of the thunder, heavy rain staeted to fall making the night more cold.

In the midst of the rainfall, a palace maid was leading the Imperial Doctor to the Princess chamber with worried expression on her face. Her footsteps were fast and she was clutching her skirt tightly. The Doctor was also matching her pace with hurried steps he was holding an umbrella in one hand and a bag in another.

Finally, they reached the Princess chamber and she quickly opened the door inviting the doctor to come in the inner room.

It was a big room with intricate decortions and paintings on the wall. The big balcony window was closed and white curtains were covering the outside world. In the middle of the big room, there was a big bed covered with beautiful translucent curtains hanging from the roof.

There was a figure laying on the bed, the maid, Jinyu opened the bed curtains and there was a girl with pale face and sweat on her forehead. She was the princess of the Qin Empire, Qin Xue. Most beautiful girl in the whole Qin Empire, her long eyelashes were resting on her face. Her beautiful long black hair were loosely tied up and a few messy strands were stuck to her long slender neck due to sweating.

The maid's eyes were filled with tears as she told the Imperial Doctor, " Princess was feeling nauseous and dizzy when she told me to call you over, but then she suddenly fainted and her heartbeat became slow and weak." A few tears escaped her eyes which she hurriedly wiped.

The Imperial doctor listened to her and checked the pulse of the princess, her wrist was thin and soft which felt like it'll break if a bit of pressure was applied. After checking the pulse, a frown appeared on the doctor's face.

"It's poisoning." he concluded and immediately opened his bag to take out a few things. After hearing him, the color of Jinyu's face became white. The tears she was trying to hold in till now, started flowing out of her eyes. She asked in a shaky voice, "Is she going to be alright?"

The doctor didn't answer her, he pinched Qin Xue's finger with a needle and collected her blood. He mixed the blood with a transparent liquid and it immediately turned greenish black in color.

The door bursted open and Qin Lingyun, the crown prince and elder brother of Qin Xue walked in.

"The Guard told me Imperial doctor has come here, is everything okay?"

The imperial doctor bowed and answered, "Princess has been poisoned."

"How serious is it?" The Qin Lingyun asked with a calm face but his voice was showing his concern and fear. Although Qin Xue was cold to everyone including her own family after their mother's death, She was still his beloved sister.

"It doesn't seem like a normal poison found in our markets, looks like someone brought it from another empire." The Imperial doctor said and handed a vial containing yellowish liquid to the maid.

"This will make princess vomit out the most of it. Her body will have side effects of the poison and it will take lot of days for her body to be fully healed."

"Luckily I went on a journey to a few places for new medicines and had it in handy or else it would really become a critical situation."

"Who dared to poison the princess?" Qin Lingyun said in a thought and called his personal knight to investigate the matter.

The maid, Jinyu immediately opened the vial and cradled the head of princess bringing it closer to her mouth making her drink the yellowish liquid. After a few seconds, Qin Xue coughed and blackish blood started flowing out of her mouth. The maid panicked on seeing the blood and wiped it with a cloth.

"It's just the poison." the doctor said.

"Is she okay now?" Qin Lingyun who was standing on the side asked the doctor worry lacing his voice.

"Most of it is out. I can further tell her condition only when she wakes up."

Princess Qin Xue coughed again and opened her hazel colored eyes. Jinyu saw her awake and immediately hugged her in tears.

Realising what she did, Jinyu left her and said in an aggrieved tone, "You scared us all my lady.. Are you feeling okay now?"

The Princess coughed again and Jinyu immediately poured her some water to drink.

Qin Lingyun took a breath of relief on seeing his sister awake, he took a step closer and held her hand.

"What exactly happened tell me?"

Qin Xue who had drank the water, looked around with a frown.

She took her hand back from him and after eyeing all of them varily, she asked confusedly "What's going on? Who are you people?"

Qin Lingyun got surprised by her words. Jinyu asked her, "Are you alright my lady?"

Qin Xue looked back and then again looked at her, "Are you talking to me?"

Imperial doctor indicated both of them to step back for a moment and asked, "Princess can you answer a few questions of mine?"

"Princess? What princess? Is this some kind of movie set? Where is my phone?"

"Movie set? phone? I'm afraid I don't understand the meaning to these words."

"Oh God.. I'm feeling dizzy.. what's going on is it a bad dream?"

"Are you dizzy? Don't move you head around Princess. Tell me do you remember how you got poisoned."

"What poison? I was in a club.. "

The Imperial doctor looked at her confused.

"This is a bad dream.. I probably drank too much.. everything will be fine.." Qin Xue said and pinched herself.

"Ouch.."

"What are you doing My lady you'll hurt youself.." Jinyu said with an anxious tone.

"I have to go back.." Qin Xue said and got up from the bed.

"Princess your body is still weak. Don't get up." The Imperial doctor said.

"You can't keep me here.. I have to go." She tried to make an escape for the door but was caught by Qin Lingyun.

"What are you doing? Let me go.."

"Qin Xue stop struggling you'll hurt yourself.."

"I'm afraid we have to give Princess some medicine to sleep." The doctor said took another medicine out.

"I'm not drinking anything.. leave me." She tried to get out of Qin Lingyun's hold but it was impossible. He restricted her hands.

"Give her the medicine." he ordered.

They forcibly made her drink the medicine.

"I'll sue you guys when I... ", She fell asleep halfway through her words.

Qin Lingyun put her back on the bed ans looked at the Imperial doctor, "What's wrong with her?"

The Imperial doctor looked down on the ground and replied, "Pardon me for my words Crown Prince, but I suspect the poison was mixed with another herb and has affected the Princess's brain negatively.. in simpler words.. Princess has gone mentally unstable."

Outside the Princess chamber...

A servant who was listening intently to the conversation going inside the room, left quietly to outside.

Outside, the servant reached near a tree and a hooded figure jumped down from the tree.

"What's the matter?" he asked in his deep voice, his face was covered with the hood and his black clothes were blending with the night.

"Your highness, the doctor said that Princess Qin was poisoned along with a special herb from another country which made her go crazy." the servant bowed and reported what he had seen.

"How bad is it?"

"She was speaking incoherent words and tried to escape the room, she doesn't seem to remember anyone."

"You can go back, keep eye on the situation and report it back to me."

The Servant bowed and went back to the Palace.

Qin Lingyun was sitting by his sister who was now sleeping under the effect of medicine. Jinyu who was waiting by rhe side said to him, "Please go back and rest your highness, I'll inform you when milady wakes up."

"How can I rest with this situation? I hope that she will be better soon." He said stroking Qin Xue's head.

In another courtyard away from the Palace.

The hooded man entered the courtyard and the guards on the door greeted him. He just nooded at them and entered the room. Another man inside was leisurely sitting by his desk, on seeing him enter he immediately stood up and greeted.

"Your highness, where have you been? It's raining outside. Besides you can't just roam around what if someone get to know that you are not the Black Knight but Second Prince of Xu Empire."

The man removed his hood revealing his handsome face, "Keep your words in check Pei Lan"

"Forgive me my lord."

"Did you poison Princess Qin?" He asked and sat down on the chair with his majestic aura.

"There are many people to do it. I don't have to get involved."

"So you did order it. You have quite the courage to do something this big without my permission."

Pei Lan who was standing by the side shivered at his cold tone and replied in one breath, "It's for your greater good, if the Princess Qin marries Crown Prince of Xu Empire, the Qin Empire will become his support and it will be difficult for you to overthrow the Crown Prince."

"Do you think I'm that weak?" he asked looking at Pei Lan with his sharp gaze.

"It's not like that My lord." Pei Lan stuttered out.

"You shouldn't have done that. Tell me how it effects the body of a person."

"Their mental intelligence is reduced with hallucinations, imaginations and decrease in physical strength too."

"Does it have an antidote?"

"Does Your Highness want to use it. It doesn't necessarily have an antidote. The person dies slowly with gradual weakening of mind and body. But there was one case where a personwas able to recover with the regular use of winter cleansing herb after years of use. The herb is extremely rare in the high snowy mountains of the north."

"Get that herb for me."

"But your highness- "

"Do you want to lose your tongue Pei Lan, keep it in check. You should be thankful I'm not beheading you for using this kind of poison without my knowledge." He said and left.

Next day, when Qin Xue got up from her sleep, she found herself in the same room as last night.

"It wasn't a bad dream."

She stood up and hurriedly rushed towards the only mirror in the room. When she looked at the mirror she was shocked with the reflection of person who appeared to be a delicate and exquisite beauty.

"It seems like all those people were telling the truth last night and I have somehow reached here inside this body. Last thing I remember was drinking too much in the club after my breakup."

"Milady, you are awake, why are you out of the bed? The Imperial Doctor told you to take rest." Qin Xue turned to see the girl from last night entering the room with another girl of the same age.

"What's your name?" Qin Xue asked her.

" We are your personal maids Princess. I'm Jinyu and this is Yanxi" Jinyu said pointing to the other girl.

Yanxi who was standing behind Jinyu took a step and bowed, "I came back as soon as I heard Princess fell ill, but why don't you remember us?"

"Because I not your Princess, my name is Qin Xue." Qin Xue said getting frustrated.

"That's your name milady. You can remember your name." Jinyu looked at her with hopeful eyes.

"You guys aren't understanding me. How do I make you understand my point?" Qin Xue said and sat down on the floor holding her head due to splitting headache.

"Don't trouble you head so much milady. It'll ve alright." Yanxi tried to comfort her.

Jinyu brought out another vial from her sleeve. "Take your medicine, you'll feel better after that."

Qin Xue held the vial and took a sip, it was a pungent medicine and made her whole mouth numb. But within few seconds her head stopped hurting.

Qin Xue was about to say something else when the guard outside the door informed that the Emperor was paying a visit to the Princess.

Yanxi helped Qin Xue who was sitting on the floor to stand. After a moment the door opened and a tall man entered the room.

Both the maids cupped their hands, bowed down to greet the Emperor and left the chamber for father and daughter duo to talk.

Qin Xue was suddenly nervous and didn't dare to look up at the man who was now in front of her.

'What if the Emperor got to know that I'm not his daughter? Will he execute me or feed me to the animals?'

The Emperor, Qin Yunchang saw his daughter with her head lowered and fiddling with her fingers. He hesitated about what to say to her.

The Emperor, Qin Yunchang was hesitant about what to say to her. This daughter of his, the only Princess of Qin Empire, has always been cold to him and others after her mother the late Empress died. She was 8 at that time and now it's been 10 years both of them have drifted apart from each other.

But no matter what she's his precious daughter. It's his fault for not providing her the warmth she required most at that time. How can he not come to see her after knowing about yesterday's incident.

"Forgive me dear, It's my fault that I failed to keep you safe from harm's way and keep the promise I made to your mother." The Emperor said looking longingly at his daughter.

Hearing this voice, Qin Xue's eyes filled up with tears. This voice, it's too similar to her real dad who passed away just a year ago. She took a shaky breath and looked up to the man in front of her. How can this be possible, same face, same voice but he's the Emperor. The tears rolled down her face.

Seeing the tears in the eyes of his precious daughter, who never showed any kind of emotion in front of him for 10 years, the Emperor got panicked and immediately kneeled in front of her.

"Qin Xue.."

"Dad !!" She cried and hugged him remembering all the memories with her father before his death.

The Emperor who was hugged suddenly had no idea what to do because this was the first time in many years that his daughter has shown some kind of emotion in front of him. He awkwardly patted her back but became more sad thinking about the poisoning and her brain being effected due to it.

It makes sense why she is having this huge change in her behavior. She basically like a child now ,and he'll give her all the care in the world. He embraced her and stroked her head with love.

After some time Qin Xue got the control over her emotions and broke the hug, immediately noticing a huge stain near the shoulder of his expensive looking silk robe due to her tears and became more embarrassed. She also internally scolded herself for being careless and acting this way.

'What if the Emperor is angry with her now and will put her in prison for her actions.'

The Emperor noticed her gaze and said in a soft voice as if talking to a little child, " Don't worry about it, it's just a simple robe."

'Simple robe? It looks like it'll cost me my whole year's salary.'

He rubbed her head affectionately seeing that she was dazed.

"I know you wouldn't be like this if not for that poison. Now your mind is like a child's. Take some rest and eat your medicines, I'll come to see you again."

After saying that the Emperor left the Princess chamber with a complicated feeling inside him. His daughter although cold in nature is actually a kind person. She doesn't have any enemy so the only possible purpose for someone to poison her can be due to the marriage proposal from the Xu Empire.

Inside the Princess Chamber, Qin Xue was still stunned with all these events and moreover to see her dead father alive in front of her. She then recollected her thoughts took a deep breath to compose herself.

'Since I'm already here in this person's body, I'll have to find some information about this place and people around.'

Jinyu and Yanxi entered the inner room after Emperor's departure and found Qin Xue with tear stained face.

"Let me help you to wash and change clothes milady." Jinyu said in a soft voice.

Startled by the voice , Qin Xue looked up and saw the two maids from before. what were their names? Jinyu and Yanxi.

"You don't have to help me, I'll do it myself.. just tell me where everything is."

Qin Xue said feeling strange to have someone assisting her to bath and change clothes.

"Are you sure milady?" Jinyu asked feeling uncertain about it.

"Yeah, I can do it myself." Qin Xue replied with a gentle smile trying to convince them but heard two gasps of surprise from them in return.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"No.. No.. It's just.. it's your smile." Jinyu answered.

"My smile?" Qin Xue rouched her face.

'Do I look scary while smiling?'

Qin Xue shook her head and followed Jinyu to the bath chamber, u.

After Jinyu came out, Yanxi looked at her and said, "Did you see milady's smile, she looked so enchanting."

"Our Princess is the most beautiful person in the whole empire, she always looks enchanting."

"I know that, but she was like a cold beauty before unapproachable and out of the world. but just now when she smiled at us, it felt so warm and welcoming."

Jinyu also smiled at Yanxi's comment agreeing with her statement.

Inside the bath chamber, Qin Xue who was soaked in a fragrant bath with her eyes closed, was pondering over all the things that has happened in these few hours of her coming to this world.

In the end, she concluded that she has somehow time travelled and now became the princess. She was poisoned and now everyone thinks that there's something with her mind.

'Since I am already here, there's nothing I can do about it. The only regret I have is that I wouldn't be able to tear the face of that scumbag cheating boyfriend of mine.'

'And since they all think I've gone crazy it's also good.. now I don't have to act like someone else and can be completely myself and no one will doubt it.'

Thinking about this put her in a good mood and she realxed enjoying the bath.
