His Saviour(BXB)
New School
I looked through the windows of mom's car feeling nostalgic. Here we are driving to my new school after the big fight I was in.
Thinking back about it that guy deserved every punch and blow he had received. How dare he hit my girlfriend or should I say, ex-girlfriend. She dumped me after the fight claiming that I was a bad influence on her.
She could've been more appreciative, but the past is the past now. No way to undo it and even if I could, I would've still beat the crap out of that boy.
Mom
“Honey, we're almost at your new school.”
I hummed in response not feeling the need to reply to her. After all my words were like feeble stick to mom's ear even if I protest, I would've failed miserably. She never takes no for an answer.
Approaching the big rusty-looking iron gate stood Oklahoma High School for boys may I add. My big brother Jonathan attended this school as well. He's currently studying law at university.
Mom pulled up through the gates and drove to where the teachers were standing to greet the newcomers. I rolled my eyes at their behavior, another issue was why did I have to wear this yucky uniform? It was uncomfortable and hot.
Stepping outside the car alongside with mom. The teachers greeted us and took my name handed me a timetable and the dorm room I'll be staying at.
I looked around examining the area and I got to admit everything and everyone was in place and I felt like an outsider already.
Teacher
“Don't worry Ms. Moon, we will take good care of your son and discipline him in the way of a young man.”
Turning around I kissed mom on the cheek and told her goodbye.
Mom
“You'll be alright here, I love you Ashton, and I'm doing what's best for you.”
Mom rarely gave me any chance to make decisions for myself. I was like a puppet on a string being controlled by its master. She paused a bit before continuing...
Mom
“You might not understand now but later on you will.”
She gave me a sad smile before entering her car leaving me alone in an unfamiliar environment. Dragging my suitcase behind me and not knowing the way to my dorm room. I decided to ask students along the way.
Ashton Moon
“Hey man, can you show me where dorm 103 is?” I asked impatiently.
???
“Welcome to Oklahoma High, you must be new.” He greeted. “Your dorm room is straight ahead, you take a left turn and look on the doors, you'll see your numbers.”
Ashton Moon
“Thanks...,” I trailed off not knowing the guy's name.
???
“It's Ace Mellow,” He replied.
Ashton Moon
I cleared my throat, “Yes, thanks, Ace.”
Dragging my suitcases, I carefully followed his instructions not wanting to ask anyone any more questions. Looking around I saw students of all religions and races talking in hushed tones and walking politely
I still don't understand why mom had to make my board at an all-boys school. For heaven's sake, we know what people say about the all-boys school.
Furiously, I gripped my suitcase handles tightly. Upon reaching my dorm room and tapped on the door a few times before it came opening revealing a taller guy than I am, with a towel wrapped around his waist and one hanging on his shoulder. I looked up to examine his facial features and I have got to admit he was handsome(not in a gay way). I envied this guy's muscular lean body
Nathan Scarlett
“Are you going to keep staring weirdo or come in,” the husky voice retorted.
Ashton Moon
“I'm Ashton Moon, your new roommate.”
Ignoring his witty remark I stretched my hand out towards his. He dismissed my greeting and turned his back.
Nathan Scarlett
“Get in, I'm Nathan Scarlett,” He said lowly.
As I stepped in and closed the door behind me. My eyes wandered the room and I got to give it to this dude everything was tidy except for some shirts and books out of place.
Nathan Scarlett
“Sorry about the mess, I didn't know you would have been coming today.” He must have noticed me looking around vividly.
Walking towards my direction as he looked at me intensely.
Nathan Scarlett
“Based on some bruises on your face, that's hardly been covered with foundation, you've been in a fight and got expelled, yeah?”
His body figure towered over me like a looming giant ready to crush anyone in its path.
Nathan Scarlett
He continued, “Look Ashton don't go around making any trouble for me, just be a good boy.”
I half-heartedly took a step back before he grabbed my arm...
Nathan Scarlett
“Am I clear?” He frowned.
Nathan Scarlett
“That's your area over there, stay there. Don't meddle or interfere with my things. Don't touch my stuff, and we'll be just good okay rookie,” He stated.
Swinging his hand over my shoulder and pinched my cheek with the other.
Ashton Moon
“Yeah, I understand Nathan,” I replied.
Unpacking my suitcases I gently folded my clothes while Nathan went out to grab some food from the cafeteria for us.
Orientation was tomorrow and I was feeling exhausted already. I grabbed one of my towels and headed to the small bathroom to take a quick shower.
Someone was outside but who could it be? Nathan had his access key to open the door so it wouldn't be him. Curiously, I wrapped the towel around my entire body before going to the door.
Ashton Moon
“Who is it?” I shouted.
???
“Is Nathan in there,” the voice replied
Ashton Moon
“No he's not here at the moment,” I replied.
There was an awkward silence before the person continued...
???
“When he's back, tell him Jace came by.”
With that, the footsteps of the person slowly faded. I wonder who that person was, well that's none of my concern anyways.
I grabbed a white T-shirt, and some sweatpants before laying down. Mom still hasn't called to check up on me as yet. Drifting away in my thoughts, the door opened revealing Nathan with some packed lunch.
He threw a brown paper bag for me to catch which landed on my bed from his terrible aim.
Ashton Moon
I laughed, “Thanks, Nathan.”
Nathan Scarlett
He grumbled under his breath. “Whatever.”
Orientation Day
Today was the day for orientation, and I was feeling nervous. Nathan woke me after 5 saying I should get ready by half an hour to join the rest of the students in the morning hall where breakfast was kept every morning from 6-7.
Looking into the mirror I fixed my hair and bangs, they were getting a bit long and needed to be cut soon.
Nathan Scarlett
“Hey hurry up, we can't be late or less we are getting detention.”
If I'm being honest enough, this didn't feel like a school more like a ... prison. I opened the bathroom door and got out as Nathan was waiting on me.
Nathan Scarlett
“You fixed yourself up pretty good, huh?”
Nathan Scarlett
“Who would've thought that a pretty boy like you could get himself in trouble.” He smirked.
Ashton Moon
“I think we'll get along roommate, your sense of humor is on the next level.”
It was then the smile dropped from his face before he warned...
Nathan Scarlett
“Be careful of the students in white jackets or vests. They are the head students and overachievers and govern the rest of underachievers.”
Nathan Scarlett
He paused then continued, “Try not to get their attention, or less it's over for you.”
The change in Nathan's demeanor made me want to rethink my whole life choices. It was evident that he wasn't joking around when he said that. A bell rang indicating that it was 5:45 am.
Nathan Scarlett
“Let's go, we have to stand outside and join the line from our room to the morning hall.”
I followed behind him as he used his access key card to shut the door, in front of us were students lined up and behind us, the lines were straight, and I felt like I made it lean.
Nathan's hand guide me to step into the line more, and I knew my gut feeling was right. The entire place was silent and the only sound that could be heard was the clacking sound of boots coming this way...
It was more than one of the students in the white jacket that Nathan had mentioned earlier. There was one of the guys in the white jacket that caught my attention.
He had this dull look on his face as if he wanted to be anywhere but here at the moment. He had jet black hair, the sides were faded, and he was tall.
He gave off an eerie aura as soon as his eyes landed on me or rather Nathan. I averted my gaze and pretended as if I wasn't just staring into his soul acting as if I knew him.
???
“In straight lines, make your way to the morning hall.”
Ashton Moon
“Psst, who's that guy?”
Nathan Scarlett
“Idiot, no talking.”
Why can't we talk? The last time I checked I was born with rights and free speech, yet he's telling me to not talk. The audacity these people have at this school. The line began to move.
After we reach the morning hall, food was already on the table as students each went around the table and stood.
Nathan and I stood beside each other.
???
“You may have a seat as we say our morning prayer.”
Everyone immediately sat, and I was the last one fumbling to pull my chair out and sit.
Talk about embarrassment as everyone else was looking at me as if I grew two pairs of the devil's horn. He hit the bell once more and everyone starts to say the prayer.
I mumbled along with the words having no idea what they were saying, then after it was finished we began our meal.
The food on the table looked disgusting and bland.
Nathan Scarlett
“You better eat up pretty boy, this is the best food we've gotten in a while.”
Ashton Moon
"You consider this to be food? Ridiculous!"
I took up the spoon and took up the yucky oatmeal, it looked like slime and mucus mixed. Deep down I wanted to gag, but I shut my eyes before tasting a bit of it...
Huh? How was it possible that such a yucky thing taste good? Nathan laughed at my scornful yet surprised face...
Nathan Scarlett
“Told you, it looks disgusting, but it has taste. Preps to the chefs for making shit taste like paradise.”
Ashton Moon
“Eww, you're just making me not want to eat this anymore!”
Speaking of which Mom said I couldn't wear my lenses, like how were they going to know I had it in?
Now I'll look like a nerd wearing this glasses...
Even though it was September and I got expelled before summer, I had a chance to start fresh, hence, I had to join the freshmen's orientation because I'm new to the school. All other Year 11, had been here already before me and knew the place.
Nathan Scarlett
“Hey, the freshmen are leaving go join the line for the orientation, watch out for Ryan, and don't get on his wrong side like how you got his attention this morning,”
Ashton Moon
“Huh? What's are you talking...”
Nathan Scarlett
“Shh, no questions, hurry with the other students.”
I was more confused than ever. Who was Ryan? Well none of that matters to me, time to start a new journey.
What is a senior doing here?
I followed behind the freshmen as one of the white vests lead us to a big door.
Students in dark blue jackets opened the door revealing a huge, spacious auditorium. Everyone gathered inside and took in the sight, whilst some talked to each other around them.
???
“Everyone please have a seat.”
I made my way to the middle section and sat. These freshmen were annoying and acted like little kids. I knew it was their first time coming to a high school, it's just a pity they'll soon find out that this school isn't a bed of roses but a thorn in the flesh.
???
“Attention everyone, I know you're excited but we need your undivided attention, failure to do so will cause demerit or detention which seems fit.”
Everyone hushed as soon as the head students spoke those words. All eyes were turned when the big door had once opened again and 4-5, white vest students came in and stood at the front.
The eerie-looking dude was in that batch as well with that same annoying look on his face, amongst four others. The one that seemed to be the leader of the group took the speaker and stepped up.
Ethan Allen
“Welcome freshmen to our Orientation Day, my name is Ethan Allen, the school president of Oklahoma High School.”
He didn't have to call the school's name, it's obvious that it was this school he was the president for. Talk about being talkative.
Ethan Allen
“Today we will be speaking about the rules of this school and the history and status that we uphold...”
His eyes glanced over the room and met mine.
Ethan Allen
“After this is finished we will be having you guys split into groups of 10-15 and assign you to the other leaders beside me to give you a school tour; they'll be further introduced...”
A student sat beside me with a big smile on his face.
???
“Hi, you are a senior, what are you doing in freshmen orientation?”
Ashton Moon
“Um, I'm n-new here.”
???
“Oh, so what does it feel like to be senior?"
Ashton Moon
"Um, I-i'm not sure I understand that question...”
Ethan Allen
“Students at the back please to pay attention.”
All eyes were turned in our direction including the eerie guy's eyes, a smirk was evident on his face
These Head Students were scary and it was best not to get on their wrong side. The principal walked in; he seemed to be in his late 50s and his back was bent a little.
The Principal
“Good morning Freshmen, I'm your principal Mr. Eric Higgins, and a board committee member. It is my honor to meet the future leaders of this establishment. As our motto says. Unite for a change, discipline is the key to surviving. Here at Oklahoma, we build leaders, discipline students into being the best version of yourselves.”
Ashton Moon
“Why is the speech so long?"
???
“I have no idea, orientation sometimes sucks!”
The Principal
“This young man is an example of good leadership and discipline. He governs the other leaders and the others you see are his team members. They all help to shape and cave a way for students such as yourselves to reach the highest height and conqueror anything that comes your way.”
After a few minutes of chatting that seemed to never end. It was now time to split the group by the last name.
I stood up as my eyes were on me again.
???
“What is a senior doing here?”
Ethan Allen seemed to see what was happening and walked in our direction.
Ethan Allen
“What is the matter here?”
He looked me up and down nodding his head for me to speak.
Ashton Moon
“Um- I'm the new student…,”
Ethan seemed to be deep in thought before he laughed...
Ethan Allen
“Wait you're Jonathan's younger brother, Ashton right?”
My eyes widen then it hit me my brother was once a head student.
Ethan Allen
“Nice to meet you. Your brother was the role model that I looked up to and aspired to be..."
He stretched his hand out indicating for me to shake it. Hesitantly I shook his hand.
Ethan Allen
“I hope you'll follow in your brother's footsteps and make him proud.”
People always think it was easy to follow in someone's footsteps, they always talk about my brother and how much of an overachiever and role model he was.
It was all fun and games until people expected me to become better than him or follow in his footsteps. I'm my own person you know.
Ethan Allen
“Let's see, you're assigned to Ryan's tour group, have fun and work hard.”
He tapped my shoulder and left me. Everyone else went back to their business as if nothing happened. I walked over in Ryan's direction as he was leaving with the group.
Ashton Moon
“Hey man, wait up...”
All the other freshmen seemed to be shaken to the core, looked afraid, and tensed up.
Ryan seemed to not have heard me so I tried again...
Ashton Moon
“I said to wait up I'm on your team.”
Ryan Lee
“Are you talking to me, low achiever?”
To say I wasn't shocked would be a lie. Just because he's a team leader didn't mean he had to act so...high and mighty.
Ryan Lee
“Have respect for your leaders and stop being so rambunctious.”
Ashton Moon
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so l-loud.”
He went back to the line and smiled as if nothing happened.
Ryan Lee
“Let's get you guys to know the school and all the wonderful history.”
How dare that... scumbag for disrespecting me like I'm some lowly insect. His gaze was so scornful it made me want to hit that look off his stupid face.
No one could have done that at my old school and I didn't throw a fucking fit at them. Just you watch little fucker, I'll get you back.
After the tour was finished, the session had finished for my first class as well. The school was really big and hard to find my way.
Upon going back to my dorm room to ask Nathan how to get a key card to assess the room as well, I heard talking.
I looked around to see if anyone was watching then pressed my ear against the door.
Ethan Allen
“How many times must I tell you to get rid of that behavior around the new freshmen every year you scare them off.”
Ryan Lee
“I'm sorry, Jonathan's dumb brother made me snap. Are you sure they're related to each other? They're nothing alike.”
Was this fucker discussing me like that right now?
Ethan Allen
“Enough about that, have you been taking the pills...”
The argument cut off as one of the leaders frighten me...
???
“It's rude to be listening to other's conversation, you could get in trouble newbie. I'll let you off the hook for now so scram.”
Ashton Moon
“It won't happen again, I was just a bit lost!”
Phew! That was close. I wouldn't want to get caught by them and then have them targeting me more than they did.
Reaching the dorm room I saw Nathan and a guy talking, he was smiling at him...
The young boy was wearing a dark blue jacket, the only difference on it was the two strips on the shoulder. He was in Year 10. How were Nathan and him friends? When the door room for year 10 was on the other side of the school?
Nathan noticed me staring at them before his feature changed into a frown.
Nathan Scarlett
“What do you want?”
Ashton Moon
“I came here to ask you, how could I get a key card...”
Ashton Moon
“So, um- I'll be going to my next class now....”
As if on cue, the bell rang and save me the trouble of feeling weirder. Thank you bell, you're a lifesaver. I scurried off leaving them.
Come to think of it, that was no friend smile more like when you're in love with someone you smiled at them like that...
Was Nathan ga-I hit a brick wall, when was there a wall here? My hand touched the wall? Huh? Walls aren't tough and soft at the same time.
Ryan Lee
“Are you done now?”
Ryan Lee
“Watch where your going newbie, and stay out of my way.”
Could my day get any worst, that's how it was?
