In endless darkness, there was a huge gate. That gate shone, it was the only source of light there. In front of the gate stood a single figure in a hood, with a scythe in it's hand. That hooded figure said something, and a human figure appeared in front of it. The hooded figure spoke again, this time saying

"Forgive me; I cannot let you pass the Soul Gate. You must be ended. You are not worthy of being reborn." After these words were said, the hooded figure cast down the hood reveling itself.

Under the hood, there was a girl, a young girl. Her beauty was inhuman, as though a goddess. Her skin was as fair as snow, her hairs, which came down to her waist, were as white as the clouds in the sky. Her body, though covered with black clothes, was slender and perfect. Her looks were incomparable. But her eyes were as dark and as dead as of a corpse's eyes. There was no feeling in those eyes.

After she revealed herself, she slashed the human figure with the scythe and the human figure turned to dust at the touch of the scythe. "Alas it is over." said the girl "There are no more dead humans for now." Then she turned to the gate and said in a loud voice

"Let me in!" as she said it, the gate opened lighting the area around it. She went through the gate and it closed behind her.

The place beyond the gate was bright and beautiful. "Already over?" said a man sitting in a throne made of what seemed to be human skulls. The man looked like perfection in physical form. His hair was bright golden; his eyes a deep violet and we're brimming with life. He wore a white suit and cloak that reached his feet.

"Eternity, how many souls did you judge in this hour?" asked the man.

"454,800" Answered Eternity.

"And you only let 12,000 souls pass."

"Father, your creations are becoming less worthy day by day. And don't complain to me about it, it is you who gave me the ' Eyes of the judge'. I wasn't the one who derived the criteria for rebirth."

"I know, I know. Don't get angry at me. Eternity, the next hour has begun. Go do your job." He said.

"I know my job father, you don't need to remind me." She answers and walks towards the Soul Gate and commands it to open. When the gate opens, she re-enters the infinite darkness.

While standing in the infinite darkness, Eternity thought to herself "I'm tired of this darkness. I want to see the human realm. I want to know the beings I judge. I wish I could go there. It'd be fun to live like a human for a change. Maybe I can, maybe father will allow it." Thinking this she calls the souls to judge them.

After judging the souls, she returned to the place beyond the gate.

"Father, what are humans exactly like?" Eternity asks

"Hmm, humans for me are children. Just like you, though with imperfections." her father answers.

"Why aren't they perfect?"

"Because I didn't make them that way. If I had, what is the point of letting them live and then killing them?"

"I don't understand."

"Perfection is not for destroying. And even if I made them perfect, after their life would begin they would pick up imperfections from around them."

"I see."

"Why the sudden interest in humans, huh? You have been doing this for 16 years. Why suddenly?"

"16 years for us, for the humans it has been over 400,000 years. I want to know what they are like. What the ones I judge are like."

" If that is so, I'll let you go to earth for 1 hour. You can spend 3 years there and then you must return. You can observe them, live with them, do whatever you want."

"I want to go, open the gate to earth."

Her father gestures towards a small gate and it opens. Eternity walks through it and enters a forest on Earth.

With her hand in front of her eyes, she looks at the sky. Dazed by the light of the sun, she mummered to herself "Beautiful". She looked around herself seeing the trees for the first time. For the first time hearing the sound of a far away river, noticing the tiny insects around her, seeing the birds fly above her, she is stunned. Stunned, by the imperfect yet beautiful creatures around her. "I've never seen this much life before." She thinks, and starts walking towards the faint sound of the distant river. The moment she reaches the river, she is amazed. She marvels at the sight of the water flowing in the river, small fishes swimming in the stream, and for the first time she sees a deer drinking from the river. Seeing this extent of beauty, she thinks "Though I have infinite knowledge, this is above everything."

She stays around the river for a long time, and then she notices the sun setting so she tried to make her way out of the forest on foot so that no humans would notice her inhuman abilities. By sunrise the next day she reached the edge of the forest. It was a small village where she reached, few houses or shops were around. Sitting at the counter of a small shop was an old woman. Eternity went to her and asked "Can you please tell me what place this is?" The woman answered "It is the outskirts of Raven Forest child."

"Could you tell me where the nearest city is?" Eternity asks.

"Not very far, 50 miles away at most is our country's most lavish city, the Sky City. If you are going there, take a train. The train station is about half a kilometre from here." says the old woman.

" Well thank you for the information, I'll be on my way." Saying this she starts walking towards the train station waving goodbye to the old woman.

While walking down the road, she stops and looks around herself to make sure that no

one is around. The she said in a low tone “Transform.” And her clothes which covered

all of her body and were black, changed in the blink of an eye to a pair of

shorts and an orange t-shirt. Then she summoned her scythe and changed it into

money. And then she continued walking. When she reached the railway station she

bought a ticket to Sky city using scythe and summoned it again so she could get

it back.

While on the train she thought to herself “Let’s see what I need to do to blend in with the

humans. First I need money, then a house, a vehicle, a driver’s license, a bank

account and an admission in a school. Earning money and the admission are

simple with my ‘infinite knowledge’. But the house, vehicle and bank account

are gonna be difficult. It is January right now, so I have a month before I

need to worry about school, so I got to focus on the rest. It’s difficult being

a human, oh well I got what I wanted at least.”

By the time she reaches Sky city, she had everything figured out. She was going to earn

money in share market, with her infinite knowledge; it would be piece of cake.

But before that she needed a way to invest in it and get a bank account. After

getting a bank account and enough money she would buy a house to stay in and

then get a driver’s license.  After this

she would buy a vehicle, whichever she could afford. And then apply for a

school where it would be easier for her to interact with humans.

She had thought of all of this while on the way to Sky City. She had just stepped out

of the train when she saw large beautiful buildings lit up in the evening,

streets bustling with people, restaurants lined up, and hotels shining with

lights on the outside.

Seeing this scene she was mesmerized, utterly speechless at the beauty of the earth and of

humans. She walked past many people busy in their affairs, many shops calling customers,

quite a few people walking their pets. This whole scene put a smile on her

face, after being born for hundreds of thousands of years she smiled for the

first time.

She walked and walked for a long time and reached the biggest lake in Sky City.

At the sight of people enjoying with their loved ones, she thought to herself

“Doesn’t matter if a person is worthy of being reborn or not; they are all worthy

of being loved by someone.” “Humans are fragile, weak and with no

sharp natural instincts yet they conquer their weaknesses to become strong

. They are fascinating creatures.” She thinks and

starts walking away to go do the work she set out for herself.

After a while she enters the best bank in Sky City to get her work done.
