MELLIFLUOUS ( TAEKOOK)
MELLIFLUOUS
A MASSIVE BRONZE ship glided across the teal blue waves, rich brown wood glistening in the sunlight, salt-kissed air swirling in the boisterous air.
The petite, pink-haired boy on the island almost dropped his metal binocular.
He pressed the eyesight device against his eyes again , closer . But there was no mistaking the bronze flag, the glittering anchor, the huge cannons.
For it was the Bronze Anchor.
The pink-haired boy couldn't breathe.
Someone
"why today of all day? Why now? Couldn't they find a better timing? "
His father wasn't here. The ruler of feibren wasn't here. How was he- Park Jimin- supposed to lead his people to safety? What could a mere nineteen years old boy could do against them?
Gunshots. Screams. Blasts. Blood.
For the cannons started shooting.
ONE
Jeon Jungkook was in his family's tiny bakery, placing a warm, freshly baked loaf of cinnamon bread onto the pinewood counter when he heard the unmistakable blast of a cannon.
Jeon Jungkook
' Froze, trying to process the next sounds '
Jungkook tried to swallow, but his mouth had dried up like yesterday's stale cake.
He whispered, pulling off his oven mitts.
The woman was already in tears, making his heart flip.
Jeon Jungkook
Mama don't cry
He said in a wobbly voice.
Jeon Jungkook
Mama, we need to hide
He pushed the door of the kitchen open, adrenaline pumping through his veins. He will make sure none of the pirates touch either of them. He couldn't .He wouldn't.
He couldn't bare for his mother to fall into dark depression all over again, not after his father....
His mother had stopped crying, but her face was in pain, in agony. Her eyes were hazed and clouded, as if she had sunk into a nightmare, or more precisely, a flashback.
The two sat there, in the kitchen, behind a pile of dusty old furniture.
The clock ticked. Deep breaths. Muffled weeps. Clock ticking. Deep breaths. Muffled weeps. Clock ticking. Deep breaths. And the smell of-
His mother was now in full blown tears.
He had already sensed the strong stench of gas and heat before he even peeked through the tiny gap from the kitchen door.
His legs immediately felt weak. His eyes brimming.
The bakery was engulfing in bright red scorching flames.
Jimin was panting heavily by the time he finally reached the large grey stone manor.
He yelled for his butler, hammering the front door.
Park Jimin
CHOI! BRING THE DEFENCE SQUAD!
The door swung open at once, and a pale-faced man stood there. He pulled the pink-haired boy into the house, slamming the door shut almost immediately.
Jimin breathed, a small ounce of relief bubbling in the pit of his stomach.
Park Jimin
Choi-we need to send the defence-
To his shock, Choi shook his head.
Choi (butler)
No, we can't. Your father took all of them with him to sentopia.
The last thread of hope Jimin has been desperately clutching vanished.
Park Jimin
Then what do I do? Choi-help me fight-we can fight-
He closed his eyes when he heard another cannon blasting off.
Park Jimin
M-my people are in danger-
Choi continued shaking his head.
Choi (butler)
We can let the pirates take whatever they want. We'll stay here. The manor is very safe-we'll lock the gate- they won't have any way to come in....
Jimin's eyes were cold, fierce as he stared at the butler . He couldn't believe the man whom he had always looked up to was a... coward.
Park Jimin
You are blind by fear, Choi. How dare you suggest such a stupid thing? Our people are out there-d-dying and you... you just want to save your own skin?
It was like a new light had shone, and Jimin was finally seeing for who his butler really was.
And this was no longer his fatherly butler speaking. No longer the one who had taught him how to rule, how to fight, how to live. But Choi.
A coward, Jimin reminded himself furiously.
Choi (butler)
This is the Bronze Anchor!
Choi yelled, face fuming in anger.
Choi (butler)
If you die your father will fire me!
Jimin felt as if his face was slapped. He felt his heart stinging, as he stared at the man in front of him in pure disgust.
Jimin spat before turning around and walking out of the mahagony door.
Alone, be it. He shall save his people.
TWO
WARM COPPER eyes met coal, summer met frost, and a prince meet captain.
A wash of goosebumps spread down Jimin's limbs. The captain's eyes were icy, almost sending a shiver down his spine.
The voice was low and cold, almost emotionless. The blade pressed closer against his neck .
Someone
One reason why I shouldn't slice your head off right now.
Jimin swiftly closed his eyes, trying to unsee the blade against him, with all the blood dripping from the curved tip.
Jimin whispered desperately, pride long ago forgotten.
Park Jimin
Leave my island and people unharmed. I will give you money, clothes, jewels. Just leave my island alone.
The captain chuckled dryly, Even in the blinding sunlight, his hair was as black as coal, matching his eyes, and probably his soul.
Someone
Where's the fun in that?
But alas, the blade was pulled away from his neck, and he could finally breathe again.
Someone
I don't want jewels.
The captain said, and Jimin looked at him quizzically. He had always been told about pirate's massive greed for jewellery .
Someone
I want bread-warm, fresh loaves. And baked cakes. Do you have any good bakeries?
Jimin heart sank even further. The last thing he wanted to do was bring the captain of BRONZE ANCHOR to the bakery, where a cute boy he was very, very fond of lived.
Park Jimin
We... the bakery-I mean, there's no bakery....
Wow he was stupid Jimin thought.
The tip of the cold blade pressed against his neck again.
Someone
Take. Me. To. The. Bakery.
Jimin let out a heavy, venomous sign. Things just weren't going in his way.
Jungkook and his mother were hidden in a throny bush in the middle of the forest , with nothing but a butter knife for their protection.
They had exited the roaring bakery through the back door, and ran straight toward the trees. Not even a single living soul had they passed, only the careless, dead one.
It seemed like everyone held the same intention as them- to hide until the pirates left.
His mother was drowning in tear, and Jungkook's grip on butter knife tightened.
he mumbled, gently stroking her long black hair.
Jeon Jungkook
Mama, calm down. It's okay. I'm here.
His heart pained seeing his mother like this. His usually strong -willed mama, breaking down at the invasion of pirates.
Oh, how he loathed pirates.
If he ever meet one face to face, oh how much he'd love to kick their hairy asses and punch their horrendous faces until-
A pair of worn, brown leather boots appeared in front of him.
And then a devilish grin.
There was a young man standing in front of him, who was anything but horrendous. He was, holy shit, striking in every way possible. Velvety red hair, incandescent skin, vivid eyes, luminous grin.
Someone
Look what we have here.
The red-haired male said slowly, eyes trailing from Jungkook to hia mother.
Someone
A weak women and a little boy. intresting. very interesting.
weak ? little? Jungkook glowered, forgetting about his fear for a moment.
The sudden, blinding glimmer of the axe in the man's hand caused him to whimper, instantly watering down his anger, replacing it with sheer terror.
The red-haired smiled wider, scarier.
Someone
Who should I kill first, hm?
Neither Jungkook and his mother said anything, both stiffened.
The young pirate growled. His eyes went to the women .
Jungkook's eyes flamed. And then the vivid eyes fluttered to Jungkook, a twinkle in them.
Jungkook felt goosebumps.
Jungkook stabbed the pirate with his butter knife.
Jeon Jungkook
Ow-f*cking hell-you stupid brat-
A second later, Jungkook felt a force slam against his head, and all the light and slight drained form his eyes.
