Jungkook was rushing to get to his cafe date with Jimin, because he was an hour late. He spent last night finishing his homework quickly so he could get some sleep, but ended up getting only 3 hours in the morning. He picked out a random pair of jeans and a black tee and raced out of his apartment. He jumped into his Volvo and drove over the speed limit, just so Jimin wouldn't have to wait too long.
He was about to speed into the parking, which was only a few meters away, but he didn't notice the speed bumper and the car toppled over.
Jimin looked outside the moment he heard a huge crashing noise outside. He rushed over after seeing Jungkook's Volvo. With a lot of difficulty, he dragged Jungkook out of the car. "Can any of you please call an ambulance? Thank you!" He yelled at the useless crowd.
An ambulance reached the scene after ten minutes, by that time Jungkook's face was already plastered with blood. Shards of glass poked into the skin of his hands, some on his neck. Jimin felt the urge to remove those shards, but he thought he rather wait for the professionals, so as to not hurt him.
A bunch of nurses jumped out of the ambulance with a stretcher. They put Jungkook on the stretcher and asked Jimin to tag along as the only evident "relative".
They reached the hospital. Jimin walked alongside Jungkook's stretcher, continuously whispering "You'll be fine", hoping Jungkook could hear him. When they reached the operation room, they asked Jimin to wait outside. Jimin tried negotiating to let him stay, but the nurse refused, saying it was for safety reasons.
After an hour, a doctor walked out of the operation room and called for Jimin. Jimin got up immediately and walked over to him. "How is he?" Jimin asked, with obvious panic in his large brown eyes. The doctor observed his face for a minute and replied, "He's okay. He needs to stay here for two days, and then he can be discharged." Jimin knew there was something else that the doctor was hesitating to say, noticing the doctor's eyes diverting. "Anything else, doctor?" "Umm, he has....lost a lot of his important memories. He still knows who he is and the people in his life, but he doesn't remember his connection with them." "Oh, okay... Can I go in now?" "Sure." "Thank you, doctor." "It's my job, no need." The doctor walked away with a polite smile, leaving a shocked Jimin behind.
Jungkook was always an orphan, he basically got kicked out of his orphanage when he reached twenty. He somehow managed to get into a good university. He met Jimin when he was a Junior and Jimin was about to graduate. Jimin, luckily for Jungkook, stayed in Seoul and worked as a part-time in the cafe he set their date in.
Jimin went inside Jungkook's hospital room.
The moment Jimin walked in, Jungkook's doe eyes fluttered open. He sat up in his bed and stared at Jimin.
"Hey, I feel like I know you, somewhere at the back of my mind. Can I spend more time with you to get to know you?" Jungkook asked heartbroken Jimin with an innocent face. Jimin couldn't help but want to force his own memories of them into Jungkook, but he knew better than to force him. I mean, what if he gets a headache and then never wakes up? Then what's the point of me making him remember, if he can't be there with me to make more?
Jimin fought his tears, and hugged Jungkook, only managing to whisper, "I'm glad you're safe." Jungkook was a bit surprised at Jimin's behaviour, but accepted it, assuming he was a best friend of his. Jungkook had no idea of his sexuality. Jimin, on the other hand, was dying to force a kiss on his former boyfriend, in hopes of reminding him of them. Jimin started shaking at the thought of not being able to hug or kiss Jungkook anymore. He knew it would take him a long time to remind Jungkook of his sexuality, and their love. It was killing him to not be too touchy, but he knew he'd get used to it, being the elder, and therefore the more mature one. He had no choice anyway.
Jungkook noticed Jimin shaking , and wrapped his arms around him tighter, thinking he could warm the small boy in this way. Jimin froze. He quickly released himself from the hug , moved to a chair nearby, and started looking around to ease himself a bit. The room wasn't very spacious, but still cozy enough, despite being a hospital room. There was a potted plant next to the bed, an artificial one - easy to take care of. Jimin turned his head back to Jungkook, only to see his doe eyes widened.
"What happened? Why did you suddenly stop hugging me? Did I do something wrong?"
"N- no I..."
"Nevermind, it's okay. Are you my hyung? Are you a friend of mine?"
Jimin's heart throbbed. He mentally clutched his chest in pain. Friend? I'm a friend now?! For his sake, I'll go along. Jimin nodded in response.
"Well?"
"What?"
"I'd like to know more about my connection to you. If you're okay with it. I see you spacing out a lot so..."
"No, no, I'm fine. Okay to begin with-"
Jimin started talking about how they met in Jungkook's junior year, and Jimin was just about to graduate, about how they promised to keep contacting each other even after they couldn't see each other as often. Jimin told Jungkook about how he got selected in Big Hit Entertainment, but worked a part time instead, for Jungkook's sake, because working there would mean having less time to spend with his (boy)friend. The only part Jimin left out was where Jungkook had confessed his love to Jimin the day Jimin was going to graduate, how he fell in love at first with the doe-eyed, muscle beauty.
Jimin didn't tell him about it because he thought such a huge chunk of information may cause him to suffer from a migraine. He decided it'd be better if he worked on getting him to remember bit by bit.
"Hey, you seem to know more about me than the people that came in before, claiming they were my teachers. How about we...you know.. become friends? You know, we can, um...work on getting my memories back, and like, just, I WANT A COMPANION OKAY?! I like you so.... I mean, you seem like a nice guy..and stuff." Jungkook pouted and blushed towards the end of his friendship request. He turned away from Jimin. Jimin gave a small smile, making his eyes crescent-like, even if Jungkook couldn't see it.
"Sure, little bunny."
"B- bunny?"
Jungkook's face was red with embarrassment. Jimin just smirked to look cool, although he was mentally banging his head on an invisible wall.
"Ye, you heard that right-"
A nurse came in and interrupted their conversation, saying that Jimin had to leave since visiting hours were over. Jimin politely bowed and thanked her, and waved Jungkook goodbye.
"I'll collect you two days later."
You're mine, Jungkook-ah, is what he didn't say out loud.
He left the hospital and got into his car.
-----------------
He reached his apartment and flung himself into his couch.
He sank into the couch and got lost in his train of thoughts.
"What if, what if I wait for two days and then bring him to stay in my apartment? I'll just sell his and get all his belongings here. That part's figured out. It'll be easier to get his memories back if I keep taking him for outings, right?"
He clutched his head, trying to stop the thought at the back of his mind that kept poking him. He failed. "Will reminding him really hurt him? It is a huge part of his memory that's missing. His brain might not be able to handle it.... **** it. I'll try."
With that, he went to his room to make some arrangements for the next two days.
