HIDDEN WIFE : BEST HUSBAND

Late...Chapter 1

The alarm rang repeatedly, but Soo Yin still didn't hear it. Until the tenth rang, she finally woke up.

She tried to take her cell phone while rubbing her eyes with one hand. When she dimly looked at the clock, the girl immediately widened her eyes.

"Damn, I'm late again today!" Soo Yin swore. She immediately rushed out of her bed and went to the bathroom. She let the bed conditions as it is, very messy.

There's no time to wash up. She only washed her face then rummaged through the wardrobe to find her working uniform.

She panicked and was in a hurry at this time. She felt very sure that later, she would get into trouble.

The Silla Seoul Hotel

Soo Yin ran. She was catching her breath after getting out of the taxi she was driving. Today she must be late for work due to waking up late.

She worked at a five-star hotel located in Seoul, South Korea. Her job was only as a housekeeper or cleaner. Her job was to clean the guests' room in the hotel.

She's just a high school graduate. Currently, she is 18 years old. She worked at the hotel because of the mercy of her husband, who owned the hotel.

Soo Yin went to the hotel's lobby to fill out today's attendance list. When she was writing, she didn't realise that a man was standing behind her. The man was Manager Han, who was getting ready to scold her.

"Hmmm." Manager Han's voice echoed in Soo Yin's ears. She looked back at the source of the sound.

"How dare you come at this time! Do you think it's your family house, so you can come here as you want?!" Manager Han shouted.

"Sorry, Sir." Soo Yin just bowed,  scared to see Manager Han's face.

'Ah, If you know that I'm Dae Hyun's wife, do you still dare to scold me?' Soo Yin cursed in her mind.

But, she realised that she was just an undesirable wife.

"How many times have you been late to work this month?" Manager Han asked with a high voice. Luckily, the hotel's guests rarely went out of their room at this time.

"What happened?" asked the man who arrived just now. He was Dae Hyun, the hotel's owner.

"Sorry, Sir. This girl always comes late," said Han while pointing his hand at Soo Yin, the girl who was still bowing, lowering her face.

"Never mind, just let it go! Just tell her to see me later," said Dae Hyun. He massaged his forehead, feeling dizzy at the commotion.

"Yes, Sir," Han replied and lowered his head politely.

Dae Hyun quickly glanced at Soo Yin when he walked past her. He wanted to say something, but then he cancelled his intention. He chose to go straight to his office.

"Did you hear what Mr Dae Hyun said? Prepare to get the sack soon," said Han, then left the girl who was still standing.

Even though she felt irritated because this morning she had trouble with Manajer Han, Soo Yin could finally take a deep breath after the two people left.

She went straight to the pantry, where she used to put her luggage. Soo Yin took one glass of water then gulped it down. She also held her stomach, which felt sore because she didn't have time to eat breakfast.

Never mind breakfast. She didn't even have time to take a shower! She just sprayed a lot of perfume before leaving.

"Did you come late again?" asked a girl named Jean. This girl was half Korean, half German.

Soo Yin just took a deep breath while putting the glass back on the table.

"As soon as I came home from work, I went to the hospital last night to see my father," said Soo Yin while looking down with a sad face.

Her father suffered from heart disease, so he had to be hospitalised. Currently, she only has her father.

"Did anything change?" asked Jean. She sat in front of Soo Yin.

Soo Yin shook her head slowly. She clenched her fists until her nails pierced her palms. She really wanted to finish off her stepmother every time she remembered what she had done to her family.

Because their stepmother had debts, in the end, their business went bankrupt until her father had a heart attack.

"Well, let's get to work! Don't let Manager Han see us," said Jean.

"I have to go to Mr Dae Hyun's room first," said Soo Yin.

Soo Yin felt unmotivated to hurry and go to Dae Hyun's room. She felt really reluctant to meet that man.

The man who had married her but didn't consider her a wife at all. Even though they have been married for three months, actually, she was also reluctant to work at Dae Hyun's hotel.

It's just because her family was poor, and her father's bad condition required the girl to work hard.

Soo Yin took a deep breath while standing in front of Dae Hyun's room. She stood in front of the door for a few seconds. The girl repeatedly raised her hand to knock on the door, but she lowered it again.

Knock...knock...knock.

Finally, Soo Yin took the risk to knock on the door. She was reluctant to be there any longer.

"Enter!" Dae Hyun exclaimed from inside the room.

Soo Yin rushed into Dae Hyun's study then closed the door.

"Why do you call me?" said Soo Yin indifferently. She always acted cool in front of Dae Hyun. Never once she acted sweet.

She thought there was no need to be nice to a man who had made herself a mistress.

Luckily, she was not a very wealthy girl, so there was no need to reveal their secret to the public.

Dae Hyun stared at the girl, who was currently right in front of him. He stared into her brownish-black eyes. Snow white skin and long hair tied up into a ponytail. There was a sense of guilt when he looked at the girl.

Soo Yin looked away when Dae Hyun looked at her.

"Take it!" Dae Hyun said while handing a paper to Soo Yin. The paper contained a check for cash.

Relationship... Chapter 2

Soo Yin only glanced at the check on the table without any intention to take it. She just looked back at Dae Hyun with annoyance.

"Take it! You definitely need it," Dae Hyun said quietly. He walked Soo Yin's direction and handed the check to her.

Soo Yin slowly walked backwards when Dae Hyun stood in front of her.

"I know you need money to pay for father's hospital fees," said Dae Hyun.

'Dad? Did I hear it correctly?  Since when did he call my father with the word father?' Soo Yin grumbled in her mind, feeling so upset.

Soo Yin forced herself to reach out to the check while rolling her eyes. She looked at Dae Hyun for a moment but then immediately ripped the check to pieces. Then, she scattered the check bit by bit right in front of Dae Hyun's face.

"Didn't I give you a lot of money?" Dae Hyun asked loudly.

"I don't need your money!" Soo Yin shouted.

"Does daddy need hospital fees?" Dae Hyun lowered his voice, trying to quell his anger.

"So when did you become my father's son?" Soo Yin snapped. She spoke sarcastically.

"Soo Yin, your father is my father too." Dae Hyun tried to say it more gently.

"My father doesn't have a son, he only has me alone," said Soo Yin.

"Soo Yin, did you forget that you are my wife?" Dae Hyun asked while kneading his temples.

"Of course, I remember that I am the second wife of a five-star hotel owner in Seoul," Soo Yin said in a loud and strong voice. She looked at Dae Hyun with mocking eyes.

"Soo Yin, lower your voice!" said Dae Hyun.

"Are you afraid that someone will hear it?" Soo Yin asked with a sneer.

"I just don't want you to misunderstand. Don't be stubborn like this!" said Dae Hyun.

"You must be afraid if your first wife finds out this fact, right?" Soo Yin whispered in Dae Hyun's ear.

"That's enough, Soo Yin!" Dae Hyun had challenged his bottom line over and over again when he faced that girl.

"Calm down. I won't tell our secrets to anyone, because I also don't want my lover to know that I'm married," said Soo Yin.

"So you two are still in touch?" Dae Hyun asked in a slightly higher voice.

"Of course. We are not really married, so what's wrong with me still having a relationship with other people?" said Soo Yin.

"You are really– this girl...." Dae Hyun moved his feet to get closer to Soo Yin. He brought his face closer to the girl's face. Soo Yin stepped backwards, but her body had hit the wall.

Right now Soo Yin was trapped between Dae Hyun's burly body and the wall.

"Do you need me to prove that we're married?" asked Dae Hyun while he held Soo Yin's chin with his hand.

"Don't touch me!" Soo Yin struggled. She pushed Dae Hyun's broad chest with her hand, trying to get free. But Dae Hyun's body was too strong compared to her small body.

Soo Yin could feel Dae Hyun's breath on her face. Their faces were only centimetres apart. Soo Yin was really scared right now. She was afraid that Dae Hyun would do what he said.

Knock ... knock ....

There was a knock on the door.

Soo Yin could breathe freely because someone came.

"Get back to work again!" Dae Hyun let off his grip and took a few steps back from Soo Yin.

"I'll visit daddy tonight," said Dae Hyun then turned around and approached his oversized chair.

Soo Yin touched her right chest. Her heart was racing very fast even though she had intended to make Dae Hyun angry and then divorce her immediately.

Soo Yin rushed out of Dae Hyun's room. At the door, she ran into Manager Han. She just bowed and then immediately left.

Flashback...Chapter 3

Flashback of Three Months Ago.

Dae Hyun was walking down the road to his car.

The atmosphere at home this morning was a little uncomfortable because there had been a little commotion between him and his wife. He chose to leave home.

While facing the side, Dae Hyun accidentally saw a commotion happening on the side of the road in front of a large house.

Two large men dragged away a middle-aged man. A young girl named Soo Yin cried while begging an old man who was standing in front of her.

"Mr Jang, please let my father go! We promise to pay off our family debts," Soo Yin whined with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Ha, you think I'm stupid? You guys will run away like that bitch," said the bald Jang, narrowing his eyes.

"Sir, I beg of you." Soo Yin kneeled before Mr Jang.

Dae Hyun parked at the side of the road then rushed outside to see what was going on.

"What's going on?" Dae Hyun inquired.

"There is no need to interfere in our business, and there is no way you want to help them pay off their debt to us," said Mr Jang with a mocking smile.

"Debt?" Dae Hyun asked, frowning.

"Yes, please don't ask anymore!" said Jang.

Soo Yin didn't know what to do. She also didn't have the money to help her father.

They were like this because their stepmother used their house and land documents as collateral. But at times like this, the stepmother had run away, and no one knew where she went to.

"Write down how much they owe!" Dae Hyun suddenly handed over a check for Mr Jang to fill it out himself.

"If it's still lacking, this is my card." Dae Hyun handed over his business card to Mr Jang.

"Thank you, sir." Jang kissed the paper containing the check with great delight. "Let him go!" Mr Jang shouted to his men to let Soo Yin's father go.

Then they left the place. Soo Yin immediately got up and ran towards her father, who suddenly collapsed to the ground.

"Father, wake up! Don't leave me!" Soo Yin shouted while hugging her father.

"Come on, take your father to the hospital!" said Dae Hyun.

Along the way to the hospital, Soo Yin kept shedding tears. The girl did not want to lose anyone for the second time. It's enough that her mother was gone forever.

Right now, she only had her father.

Dae Hyun took them to Hallym University Medical Center Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in Seoul.

Soo Yin wanted to go to the ICU when she saw her father enter the room. She went there with doctors and nurses. She rebelled when Dae Hyun grabbed her arm.

"Let the doctor handle it, your father will definitely recover," said Dae Hyun as he patted the girl on the shoulder.

Soo Yin finally calmed down even though she could not hold back her tears. Which child could look strong when her father was undergoing a critical period?

A few days later.

Finally, after three days of treatment by a doctor, Soo Yin's father was already in good condition. His health started to improve, and he had been transferred to another room.

"Dad, don't scare me anymore." Soo Yin sat beside the bed, holding her father's hand.

"I'm sorry, Soo Yin. I've made you worry," said the father. He stroked Soo Yin's hair softly.

"Soo Yin, do you know the name of the person who helped us?" asked Soo Yin's father, whose name is Kim Nam.

Soo Yin remembered that before her father passed out, there was someone who helped her. Soo Yin almost forgot about that man.

She also didn't have time to say thank you because at that time she was grieving. The girl immediately remembered that Dae Hyun left a business card the other day.

Soo Yin immediately took out her wallet.

"He left a business card," said Soo Yin as she handed the card to her father.

"Call him, daddy wants to say thank you," said Kim Nam handing the card back to Soo Yin.

Soo Yin obeyed her father's orders. The girl immediately called the phone number listed on the business card.

"Hello, who is this?" asked Dae Hyun across the phone.

"It's me, Soo Yin. Can you go to the hospital, sir?" Soo Yin hesitated. She wasn't sure that the man would come.

"Soo Yin? who?" Dae Hyun didn't have time to know the girl's name because at that time he was in a hurry to return to the hotel.

"It's me ... that you helped for a few days," Soo Yin said nervously, worried that the man didn't remember her.

"Oh, yes. I just remembered, your father was hospitalised, right? What's wrong?" said Dae Hyun.

"Can you visit the hospital? My father wants to say thank you, but if you are busy, it's okay." Soo Yin bit her lower lip in nervousness.

"Okay, I'll try to come later," said Dae Hyun.

"Then, thank you." Soo Yin immediately hung up.

"How?" asked Kim Nam.

"Dad, he's busy. How could he have time to come here," said Soo Yin.

"Forgive your father, Soo Yin. I have made you suffer," said Kim Nam. There was a deep sense of regret in his heart. If only he didn't remarry, maybe their condition would not be like this.

"Never mind, don't think about it anymore," said Soo Yin while rubbing Kim Nam's hand.

Soo Yin tried to look tough so that her father wouldn't be sad. If she wanted to be angry, of course, Soo Yin really wanted to be angry. But when her father's condition was like this, she could only accept this fate.

"How about the hospital fee?" asked Kim Nam sadly.

"Don't worry, I have little savings, and I'll be looking for a job soon." Soo Yin had savings because all this time, she always put aside the money that her father gave her while she was still in school.

Soo Yin just graduated a few months ago from high school.

"If only our business didn't go bankrupt…" Kim Nam couldn't carry on with his words.
