Red Fox: Koni's Ver

Author's Book

Author is a black and white fox who collects books for him to read, or even write some. He never felt bored about buying or collecting books for himself, as it is his hobby, though he does the routine pretty much every day. In his house, there is a wide, high bookshelf served in his special room. It was so big, that Author have built himself a ladder to climb in between the shelves for the books. It is as surprising as himself, who is very small and short. He collects as many books for him as to read, and his paws are never left alone without a grip on a book. One of the books which he brought is his own personal book, coloured black and written his name on the book’s cover. The book has a unique ability. Whenever the owner of the book wrote their desire, it would come to a real being, anything that the owner wanted, any wishes are real potentials.

At noon, a human knocked on his door with a rushing gesture. His knocking sound became louder and harder the longer Author ignores it. He calls Author by his name, and so Author opens the door which is immediately cheered by a young teenager with black hair and a soft-tempered voice.

“Thank goodness you’re here!” The boy spoke.

“What do you want?” Author asked.

“Th-the city! A wolf, big enough, just as big as a truck, has been eating the whole generations! Please I beg you George, help us!”

“The hunter will be in touch.”

“Why don’t you just– Use your ability and help the progress faster?!”

“Little control of such a huge potential could help the progress of ending the world faster.”

Author closes the door and left the boy whimpering in front of his house. He then proceeds to call the hunter to kill the big wolf that has been eating innocent people in the city. Author watches the commotion in the city from a window in his house, and he thought to himself, “They’re not going to be able to help themselves.” And so, he opens the book and pulls out a pet through his white coat jacket, and starts to write about natural phenomena to help the city from his house. He wrote there on the plain paper, “A storm strikes fluffy wolf,” And then a cloud formed just above the city, turning black with flashes of lightning emitting from the cloud. A bright light shines through his eyes just for half of a second, and then an abstract white line stroke an area somewhere in the city, followed by a loud thunder noise and a deep, terrifying scream.

The cloud formation then disappears, and Author heard people cheering at the death of the wolf. They thought it was the hunter and God himself who helped them. Author then continues his daily routine, but someone knocked on the door once again just right thirty minutes while he was cleaning his bedroom. Author came to the door and opens it, simultaneously greeted by the very same boy who asked for his help.

“You did it! I knew it was you, who else can do that other than you yourself?”

Author sighed at the boy and then tells him to leave.

“Leave, Pete. You always disturb my estate.”

“He-hey! What’s with you–”

Just as the boy was talking, Author closed the door on him, silencing him ultimately. But then, he heard someone knocks over again. He opens the door strongly before yelling at the person, “I told you to leave!--” But he paused once he gaze at another red fox species, who was smiling at him with such a friendly look. It was a girl, Author’s girlfriend. She tease Author as he yelled earlier, before hugging him tightly.

“You’re so sensitive, sweetheart~!”

Author chuckled as he hug her back joyfully. He invited her to his house, and he served her a cup of tea which she thanked him. They had a pleasant conversation that day, and she seems to enjoy Author so much. Her name is Diana Kyle, often called Kyle by Author. They both were sitting on a couch, snuggling while talking about whatever was on their mind. Kyle made lots of jokes that makes Author laugh and chuckle over her goofiness. But one moment, she was spooked by a random crow flying by a window in front of them while chirping loudly. Author calmed her down as she breathe uncomfortably until she finally relaxed back. He tries to cheer her up, as she still seems shocked about that crow. While Author struggles to come up with a joke that would make her laugh, she suddenly asked him with a soft, unemotional tone,

“That bird.. It reminds me of Mark..~”

“Oh.. Mark..? Hun, it’s okay~ It was in the past, I’m sure he’s flying greatly with happy flops above the clouds now!”

“I know, but he was innocent.”

“Shh..~ It’s okay~ How about we read a book together? I bought a new book, it’s titled ‘Treasure Island’, and I’m sure you’ll like it as people recommended me about the book!”

“Okay..”

Author pats her fluffy hair before then getting up to pick the book from the bookshelves in his storage room. He walks back with the signed book in his paw, sat beside Kyle and opens the book then narrates the content to cheer her up. It worked. She feels safe after a brief moment, listening only to Author, narrating the book like a professional narrator. He would mimic the dialogues inside the book with a funny and mischievous tone, and Kyle laughs at his silly speaking style. After Author finished the book, he noticed Kyle had already fallen asleep on the couch beside him, and a small smile formed on her face. It seems like she enjoyed the way Author tells the story. He slowly leans toward her and kisses her forehead before bringing the blanket and wrapping her with it. She snores, and Author goes back to the bookshelves to store the book.

Trason's Book

Trason Margarine is a young human who possesses a magical book in his house. The book can visualize images as the holder desire, just like Author’s, except it, would generate images. Trason has been obsessed with the book and used it as a material for his lusty desires. He has locked himself inside his own room. He never went outside the house, not even to his room, which worries his parents. His parents feed him through a hole which he made and threaten his parents that if they ever enter his room, he would burn the house up. His parents have gone desperate to cure his lonely issue, and so they called Author’s number, recommended by Pete.

Through the phone, his mother explained to Author that Trason has changed drastically because of a book they bought for him. His words are lewder over time, and he would even tease his mother whenever she walked past his room door. It made her upset, and sadden at his condition. She informed Author that she doesn’t want her son to be a rapist in the future or even a creep at this time. She begs Author to do something, but he doesn’t know what to do. It was a human’s mind that he has not yet learned. Author tried to write something in his own book, but nothing came up in his brain as a useful idea. And so, he advised them to separate away Trason and his book. They took the advice with a welcoming heart and bids Author goodbye before closing the call.

Just at noon time that same day, however, Pete called Author and he picks up the call. He informs Author that the parents are in need of urgent help, but they couldn’t able to reach Author due to Trason breaking everything in the house with his bare hands. This is caused by her parents confiscating the magical book forcefully from his room when he finally stepped outside from his room after a long time to take a nature call. They briefly explained his room smells like a urinal. Pete told Author to come over as fast as he could, but Author refused. He doesn’t want the citizen of the city to know that a mystic anthropomorphic creature had broken into their house. But Pete insisted and promised him a reward saying, “I will stop bringing you a human head as a joke in the morning if you help them!”. Of course, Author took the deal as he had enough of Pete who keeps throwing a freshly cutten human head right in front of his house door, which made the blood splurted out, and it is hard to clean as well.

Author rushed to the parents’ address but made sure no one saw him in the streets. But once he was exposed to the public, everyone thought he was a person wearing a mascot outfit, and so he was ignored by pretty much everyone, except for children who wanted to hang out with him, but he pushed them away. He arrived at the parent's house, and see them sitting on a bench in front of the house looking down, waiting for Trason to calm down. Author sneaked into the house from the back window, and he witnessed Trason crying while smashing the glasses in the kitchen with a furious gesture. Once he saw Author, he screamed.

“Monster!”

Trason grabbed a bottle of wine before shattering it and made himself a homemade weapon. Author tries to confront him but Trason only wants his book back. He had enough chit chat and once he saw a book in Author’s paw, he thought it was his book.

“Th-that’s my book! You stole it from me you monster!”

“Trason, please. Calm yourself down, no one wants to get hurt.”

Author is alerted, as Trason charges toward him with the shattered bottle. When Trason is close enough, Author caught his hand before he could stab him in the face, disarms him and then kicked his face until he fell down. Author scolds Trason as he whimpers and cries on the floor.

“This is not you, Trason. You could do better than this.”

“You fucking asshole, you stole my book and kicked me in the face!”

Author stepped closer to him before placing a foot on his head, pinning him down to the floor which made him whine and cry louder.

“I will kill you, if you don’t follow what I say.”

“O-okay Okay..! Waaa~.. I-I just want my book back, th-that’s all..~!”

He releases Trason and picked him up before sitting him down to a counter and began scolding him. Author explained to Trason that his parents have been worried about him, and he had gone wild just because of that book, and he told Trason it is best to let go of the book forever and move on to something better. In the end, Author holds Trason’s shoulders and encourages him to have a better future, and Trason nods with a smile, though followed by tears trailing from his eyes, but Author wiped them up and returns the smile before stroking Trason’s hair and sneaked outside from the same window he got in. His parents later then rushed inside after hearing the commotion, and they were surprised to see Trason sitting on the counter, smiling at them after he apologized. He hops down from the counter and hugs both of them tightly before then continuing to apologize.

Pete steps into the house just a second later and demanded the parents’ payment, for “helping” their child recovers. They complained, as Pete does nothing but stare, but Pete retaliates and backs down their argument.

“What?! Without me, your child would be a fucking rapist! It’s best to fucking pay me already than just, yells back!”

Trason’s father pushed him away from the house, which enraged Pete. He cursed at the family before walking away. Since that day, Author had never heard about the family anymore. Their house had been sold, and Pete informed him that the family went on a “Heavenly” vacation, or immigrates, or both. Either way, they don’t “live” in that house anymore.

Golden Salmon

At night, Author feels utter loneliness. He has the urge to hug someone, but there was no one in his house. Kyle has gone to her home, and he is left alone. To satisfy his urge, he uses his tail as a pillow and hugs it tightly, pretending he was cuddling with someone on the bed in his bedroom. It didn’t work, however, as he still feels lonely. Author is surprised by a sudden entrance caused by the sound of his room door opening, and as he gets up, he sees Pete holding a cane, seemingly struggling to see his surroundings.

“John, what the **** are you doing at my house?!”

“Holy shit, George? That’s you? I was going on a walk, and I thought I was lost inside a cave!”

“This is my house you freak!”

He stands up and guided Pete out of his room, before sitting him down on a couch in the living room.

“Why are you taking a walking time at night?”

“Wait, it’s evening already?”

“I know you’re blind, but that doesn’t mean you can’t feel the cold temperature.”

“Don’t blame me, I miss my vision.”

Author sits beside him, before wrapping a blanket around his shoulders to warm him up. He starts a fire in the fireplace in front of Pete, and he groans in satisfaction. Author poured him tea and offers him bread, which Pete accepted happily.

“You can stay here, for the night. How did you even walked out this far from the city?”

Pete sips from his tea, before answering Author,

“All I do, is walk walk, and walk.”

“You really took ‘taking a walk’ seriously huh.”

Pete chuckled before taking another sip from his tea. He enjoys the sound of the fire cracking while is wrapped by the warmness of his blanket and the fires. Later then, it rains. The sound of the rain hitting Author’s roof creates a calming noise between the interior and the outside. Pete leaned to the couch and sigh in satisfaction. He told Author that living in a forest, especially a habitable cave might be not that bad at all, and he asked Author’s opinion about that.

“It’s comfortable for me.”

Author finally has company, as he no longer feels lonely and enjoys Pete’s presence. He brings a storybook from his bookshelves as he sits back beside Pete and reads the book. Pete continues drinking his tea until it is finished, along with the bread. And after that, he asked Author a question.

“What’s your favourite book?”

“Huh?-- Oh, yeah, I don’t have a favourite book, but any book would do just fine.”

“But, what book do you like the most?”

“Well-- It’s called ‘Mere Blood Illusion’, it contains various poems about creatures and its organs.”

“Does it consist of cannibalism?”

“No. Surely not.”

“Dammit.”

They both then talked until the rain had stopped and the time have reached midnight. Pete told him he would sleep on the couch, and Author agrees. Author brings him a glass of water and places it on the table beside the couch if he would needs it at night, and Pete patted his fluffy head which made Author flustered. He wished Pete goodnight before extinguishing the fireplace and lantern then goes asleep in his bedroom. Once the sun rose, Author heard the sound of shattered glass, and he rushed to the living room to see Pete, who fell from the couch as the glass had fallen beside him. He scurried over to Pete and helped him get up to the couch again.

“What happened?”

“Y-you didn’t told me you placed the glass right at my head’s direction..~!”

“I’m sorry, I must have forgotten.”

Author rushed to the kitchen and came back with a new glass of water, then hands it to Pete before proceeding to clean the broken pieces of the glass that has shattered on the floor.

“I miss my vision.” He sobs.

Hearing Pete sobbing, Author threw the shattered glass into the trash bin and then comfort Pete by pulling him into a warm hug on the couch, wrapped together with the blanket.

“It’s okay, I’m here to listen.”

Pete wraps his arms around Author’s waist and then starts to complain about his everyday experiences. He told Author that sometimes being a blind person is a good thing, but sometimes, people do not appreciate him enough due to his disability. He cries softly, and Author comforts him by tapping his back. Pete feels safe from his comfortable fluffy fur and warm hug, and the way he gives him comforting therapy. He stopped crying, as he tells Author that he is hungry.

“I-I’m hungry..~”

Author doesn’t have any food in his kitchen, and he was planning to hunt down some animals for his hunger today. And so, he asked if Pete wants to go with him deep into the forest and hunt animals together, to which Pete would agree. Once they grabbed enough equipment for the hunt, Author held Pete’s hand to guide him so that he would not get lost. They set off southeast, right to the river’s direction where fresh and delicious fishes would live. Author told Pete that they are going to fish, as he know Pete could not hunt down an animal due to his condition, but fishing would be a relaxing yet doable activity for him. They walked deep into the forest, passing through bushes and trees until they reached a higher area and see the city of Titanium. Huge and high walls surround the city, along with the forest around it, Author sees the river just right next to the city.

He guided Pete along as they talk while walking. They talk about nature, and Pete told him he was once licked by a deer because his mother accidentally poured syrup on his face while they were having a picnic in the forest. But, halfway through, Pete accidentally activated a bear trap just right beside his foot with his cane, and he was shocked by the loud sound it made. He jumped toward Author and both of them fell down, with Pete being on top. Author flushed, and Pete struggles to get up.

“Ge-George, where are you?!”

“I’m right under you, you’re on top of me!”

“W-what?!”

Pete managed to get up and fixes his clothes, followed by Author who picked up his cane and hands it to him, still flustered from the experience. He held Pete’s hand once again, but this time he feels a bit nervous about it. They didn’t talk that much after that moment, and just keep walking through the forest, until they finally reached the river and Pete sat down close to the water, while Author spears fished for him and himself. He caught various fish and placed them in a box that he and Pete brought. But then, he saw a gold salmon swim by just between his legs and disappear between the rocks in the clean river water. It surprises him, as he told Pete about what he saw.

“Pete! I just saw a yellow, shining salmon swims by me legs!”

“What? Yellow salmon?”

“Yes!”

“I heard from the legends, golden salmons live by this river, could that yellow salmon you speak of be the legendary creature?”

“I’m not lying, I really see it!”

“Try and catch it dear, maybe there’s more than just one!”

Dear. Author was flustered after Pete calls him that, but he remains neutral whatsoever, and aims his spear at the water, spying over the water flow, until he saw the golden salmon again, swimming to the surface. Once it is close enough, Author pierced the spear right through its’ body and rose it to the air then erupt in cheers.

“I caught it, I caught it! Look!--”

He went quiet after realizing what he said, but Pete laughs at his goofy behaviour, and so Author laughs too then walked toward him with the golden salmon. It shines through the sunrise, and he hands it to Pete. Pete stroke the scale, and it feels much harder than the usual fish scales. He smiled, before confirming that it is actually the legendary fish from the rumours he had heard, it was real.

“It’s real, it’s really, really real!”

“What should we do with it?”

“If there’s more, please catch it, but don’t kill it, I wanna adopt one as a pet!”

“So, we’re gonna eat this one?”

“Only if you insist.”

And so, Author gets up again and then walks over into the water. He grabbed a net this time, so he can catch one of the golden salmons without injuring it. He waits and waits, while Pete cooks the golden salmon behind him with spices that he brought from home. Pete worked as a cook, and though he was blind, his instinct in cooking is unnoticeable, therefore his cooking would always please anyone that eats his food. But a brief introduction about Pete that no one knew, is that he is a serial killer and loves to skin a person alive, just to cheer him up whenever he is pissed off. In conclusion, Pete is not an ordinary human, and just like Author, he has an abnormal ability. Pete can teleport through television and radio static, and he can also regenerate an injured limb or body.

Author saw one of the golden fishes swims from between the rocks and he dives down into the water and then caught the fish using the net. He succeeds in trapping the fish, and he rose to the surface before placing the fish beside Pete. He was so wet, but Pete hands him his cape, and so Author used his cape to dry himself.

“Thank you so much! I’m really interested in these fishes, and having one would surely help my curiosity!”

After he finished cooking the salmon, he gave Author his slice and they both eat together, watching as the sun sets down and spending some more time on the river after they were full. It is nighttime now and they both arrived home shortly after. Author grabs the golden salmon and places it in the sink full of water and closes it with a silver case. He then walks to the living room and helped Pete lays down on the couch and starts the fire and lanterns to light the room. Pete thanked him before falling asleep immediately, seems like he was tired from the today. Author yawns walk to his bedroom and sleep while using his tail as a body pillow.
