Inhale… Exhale... Breathe in… Breathe out... This is the mantra I silently recite to myself, in order to prevent tears from escaping as the forceful lash strikes my body. Remain silent... Maintain a downward gaze... You are merely the lowly soil beneath our feet... Never raise your voice... Obey instructions...

Since my arrival, these rules have been etched into my mind. However, I have also developed my own set of guidelines. These include refraining from shedding tears, concealing any emotional pain, refusing to allow others to belittle me, following instructions, and avoiding any form of suffering.

"Dawn, are you listening to what I'm saying !?? You respond when I speak to you !!" It took me a second to get pulled out of my thoughts…

"Yes Alpha, as you command..." I stuttered.

"Do you know what you did wrong, Dawn?" The Alpha ceased striking me with his whip as he became preoccupied with the conversation he initiated.

"Y-yes A-Alpha." I inadvertently dropped the breakfasts that I had prepared for the entire pack. This action provoked the Alpha's anger, which was already compounded by another unfortunate incident. I made the ill-advised decision to meet the Alpha's gaze, marking my second mistake of the day. Consequently, I have been confined to my room since morning, resembling more of a prison cell, as I patiently await my punishment. This state of seclusion persisted until an hour ago.

"Little girl, who did you cause embarrassment to today? Furthermore, who did you demonstrate disrespect towards?"

"I disrespect and embarrassed you today, Alpha." I stuttered one more, making sure to not meet his gaze

"That's a good girl, so smart. Now, I have much more pressing matters to deal with. Reflect on what you have done today, and your chores are doubled for the next upcoming months. " After expressing his disgust in his voice and giving me a piercing glare, he exited the room and securely locked it, preventing any chance of my escape.

What a wonderful day, don't you agree, Moonlight?

Definitely! The greatest! One day we'll be getting out of here and be free from this horrible pack. And who knows, maybe we'll find our mate!

Whatever you say, Moonlight…

Moonlight is the sole companion that prevents me from losing my sanity and acts as my confidant, boosting my self-esteem. Except for the Omega twins, Amber and Amanda, and the pack's Luna, Sabrina, Moonlight is my only trusted friend and ally.

The Luna has consistently shown me kindness, despite the mistreatment I receive from her Mate and the other wolves within their pack. Luna Sabrina has selected me as her assistant during the day and tends to my injuries when no one else is present.

At the age of fourteen, I was enlightened by a tale narrated by her. The story revolved around a youthful she-wolf who was forcibly separated from her pack and her true mate. The Alpha, responsible for the abduction, displayed a sense of mercy towards the female wolf due to her exceptional beauty and intelligence. Consequently, he extended a proposition to her and eventually appointed her as his Luna. Thus making her his chosen Mate.

It dawned upon me that this narrative was a reflection of her own experiences. The underlying message conveyed through this anecdote was to never entertain offers from individuals other than one's designated Mate, to remain steadfastly loyal to one's pack, and to exercise caution when dealing with strangers.

After acknowledging that the she-wolf she mentioned was herself, she proceeded to divulge further details about her previous pack. She would narrate anecdotes concerning her estranged mate, whom she had been separated from many moons ago. She would describe his characteristics and express the exhilaration I would experience upon discovering my own. Moreover, she would consistently display a rosy blush or radiant smile while recounting her mate's escapades and their thrilling exploits.

During the conversation about her life with the pack and the Alpha, the Luna's smile did not match her words. She appeared sad and often forced a smile. The Luna explained that this was a common reaction to losing, being separated for too long, or being rejected by one's mate.

I cherished the moments when she would recount the tales of her escapades with her partner, especially when we found solace in her private workspace, shielded from any potential disturbances. As I gazed at the confinement of the prison cell, my attention was diverted by a knock on the bedroom door. Letting out a sigh, I abandoned my contemplations entirely as the Luna entered, clutching a first aid kit in her hands.

"Why don't we get those wounds bandaged up, hmm?" I nodded in agreement before positioning myself on my stomach, allowing her unrestricted access to the newly inflicted wounds on my back resulting from the relentless whipping. Luna Sabrina commenced narrating another tale, simultaneously attending to the task of disinfecting my injuries. After a brief period, her actions came to a halt, and she fell silent. I straightened my posture, directing my gaze towards her countenance, which displayed evident concern.

"Dear Dawn, I have a request to make of you. Would you be interested in accompanying me as my lady in waiting to the upcoming Lunar Eclipse Gala? I have already spoken to Alpha Conan about bringing you along. Please do not feel obligated to accept, but it would mean a great deal to me if you did. I have always thought of you as my own daughter and would be happy to relieve you of your work and chores during the preparations. Additionally, you would be able to stay in my bedroom suite for the early morning fittings. Would you be willing to do me the honour of being my Lady in waiting at the Gala?"

Upon hearing the news that I, an Omega deemed unattractive by societal standards, would be serving as Lady in Waiting to Luna Sabrina at the Lunar Eclipse Gala, I was filled with disbelief. For as long as I could remember, I had yearned to escape my miserable existence, if only for a brief respite, and perhaps even encounter my destined mate. Now, the chance had finally materialized before me. Without hesitation, I sat upright and embraced Luna Sabrina, affirming my acceptance of the opportunity with repeated affirmations of "yes."

"Thank you! Thank you, Luna! It would be a great privilege for me to serve as your lady in waiting. I am curious about the date of the Gala and the extent of tasks and responsibilities I should complete beforehand. Additionally, I am interested in knowing the venue where the Gala will take place." My mind is filled with excitement and anticipation, as the possibility of finding my Fated Mate fills me with joy and exhilaration.

"The Gala is scheduled to take place in three weeks and will be hosted at the Moonstone Pack, which serves as the residence for the King of all Alphas. Rest assured, I will ensure your safety throughout the duration of the Gala.

"Luna Sabrina demonstrated a natural comprehension of my musings and concerns regarding the possible results of the Gala.

"You can rest assured that all chores and hard work will be taken care of by Amanda and Amber, the kind-hearted Omega twins, until after the Gala. They have graciously offered to personally handle your responsibilities and duties.

" The twins possessed a truly endearing nature. However, in contrast to myself, the Alpha admires them for their attractiveness and obedience, granting them the privilege of freedom and the opportunity to reside within the pack house as ordinary pack members.

"Preparations will commence tomorrow, requiring the relocation of your belongings to my bedroom suite. A bed has already been arranged in the room for your accommodation, addressing any concerns about sleeping arrangements. It took significant effort, but my Alpha Mate has agreed to refrain from disturbing you, allowing your body to recover in time for the Gala. Unfortunately, this concession is not solely for your benefit, but rather to avoid him appearing callous in front of his allies. While I desire him to stop bothering you completely, a two-week break is better than none at all, isn't it?"

Luna Sabrina's steadfast positivity has served as a constant source of motivation for me. In the wake of my parents' untimely passing, she has been my unwavering support system and protector. Despite the opportunity to abandon me to the hands of malevolent rogue wolves and prioritize their own survival, my parents opted to shower me with an abundance of affection by sacrificing themselves in my place.

"Thank you again, Luna! This means the world to me! I will start to gather my things now!" I swiftly collected my essentials and a few additional sets of clothing, resembling worn-out and dirtied garments held together by frayed strings. I then proceeded to position myself next to Luna, who was prepared to exit the room. Prior to opening the door, Luna Sabrina discreetly concealed the first aid kit she had brought beneath my air mattress.

With determination, she squared her shoulders and opened the door, striding out of my room and making her way towards the staircase leading out of the basement. I followed behind at a respectable distance, observing Luna Sabrina as she passed by the Pack dinner and continued towards the majestic staircase, maintaining a poised demeanour and radiating an astonishing beauty.

"Are you able to perceive the repulsive omega that is trailing behind our Luna?"

"What is she doing?"

"Your prison cell's downstairs, you Filthy Omega!"

"People are trying to eat here!"

With my head down, I scurry after Luna, attempting to make myself invisible. The pack members' rude comments cause Moonlight to snarl and pace in my head as we walk. Upon reaching the third floor of the pack house, Luna Sabrina halts in front of a white door with a golden and red handle. As she pushes the door open, I am left in shock, my mouth agape.

"I am pleased to inform you that the room adjoining my suite is at your disposal. It is equipped with a private bathroom and a closet containing elegant attire that you may utilize and retain after the Ball, should you desire. I trust that the accommodations meet your expectations, Dawn."

I was astounded by the sight before me, unable to fathom its reality. The opulence surrounding me was now mine to cherish. Amongst all the lavish features, it was the expansive square window and balcony door that captivated my attention, compelling me to approach them first. From this vantage point, I beheld a breathtaking panorama of the pack lands, and the invigorating breeze that permeated the air brought forth a smile upon my face. The sheer magnificence of the view continued to elude my belief.

"This place is stunning! Thank you so much, Luna! You're the best!"

"I am delighted to hear that you appreciate it. Henceforth, you may address me as Sabrina, my dear. As my lady in waiting, you will be held in the utmost regard by me and the Alpha, provided he keeps his promise. The dress fittings will commence tomorrow morning at precisely 8:15 in my suite. I shall bid you goodnight now, and allow you to rest. I look forward to seeing you in the morning, Dawn."

After receiving Luna Sabrina's tender kiss on my forehead, she gracefully exited my room, closing the door behind her. Prior to retiring for the night, I opted to cleanse myself swiftly in order to rid any remnants of blood from the past punishment, which now felt like a distant occurrence due to the altered circumstances. Following my shower, I discovered a set of cosy midnight shorts and a serene sky blue tank top to don for sleep. Gently pulling back the covers, I settled onto the luxurious pink silk sheets and succumbed to a profound and restful slumber.
