Chapter 1 - Addie's Rebirth

Urgh... I think my head is about to explode...
I held my head as my eyes slowly fluttered open, my attention immediately rushing to the state of my head.
It felt like someone had thrown a rock at it... but there was no bruise or no indication of it being harmed.
Adelaide Esteban
This is so strange...
I went to get up, but yelped as I was pulled back by my hair.
Ouch, I had fallen asleep sitting on my hair... now, my head hurts even more.
Adelaide Esteban
Urgh, I should really cut my hair-
Wait, I cut my hair years ago...
I opened my eyes, blinked once, then twice, and looked right at the silver strands of hair attached to my head.
Adelaide Esteban
What in the world...
I touched it, felt it, and it took me a moment to realise that it was my own hair.
Adelaide Esteban
Wait... have I fallen into a coma and become some millionaire's live doll?
Well, at least my imagination is intact.
I slowly slipped out of bed, looking around the room.
White and blue curtains were covering the large windows, and there was another smaller room adjacent to the bedroom.
I soon figured out that it was a closet. Inside were five dresses, all frayed and patched with fabric that didn't even match the original colour.
Whoever is keeping me here clearly doesn't have enough money for clothes. Or they simply don't care that much about me.

Wait a second...
I turned my head and met a mirror.
I slowly approached it, and realised that I wasn't wearing glasses and could see perfectly.
Had my eyesight improved over the few years I was in a coma?
I then looked at my face, and my eyes went wide and I let out the biggest scream in history.
Adelaide Esteban
AHHHHHHHHHHH!
Why do I have an absolutely gorgeous face and huge b00bs all of a sudden?
Suddenly, I heard the door open and two women in maid outfits walked in.
Maid A
Please don't cause anymore trouble than you already are. Get up off of the floor.
Maid B
How ungraceful. Screaming like that at the top of your lungs? Do you want to bother the guards?
Why were these women being so rude and calling me 'My Lady'?
Maid A
Come on, get off the floor. You're not an animal.
The other women chuckled as she set down a basin of water.
Maid A
Apparently, the monster is coming by today.
Maid B
Wow, aren't they such a good match? Both of them are unwanted, hopefully he doesn't eat you up alive, Lady Adelaide.
Maid A
Sorry, we should probably call you Duchess Adelaide now.
Maid B
'Duchess Adelaide Cryteare'. I'd cry too if I had to marry that monster.
Adelaide Esteban
W-Wait, did you just say 'Cryteare'?
And did they just call me Adelaide?
Maid A
What's wrong with you today? Did she hit her head or something?
Adelaide Esteban
I'll say it again. Who am I and what's my name?
They stiffened, as if they weren't used to being asked anything.
Maid A
You are Lady Adelaide Esteban, Count Esteban's daughter.
Adelaide Esteban
And the man that I'll be seeing today... what's his name?
No, you're joking... this isn't real...
Are you telling me that I've been reborn into a novel like those overused online novel tropes that Rell reads?

Chapter 2 - Addie's Plan
Rell was my best friend all throughout high school.
She was there when I needed her, and despite being drop-dead gorgeous and popular, she always hung out with me, a completely average person.
My parents were pretty well off, but she never expected anything from me.
She always sent me the funniest messages, and we met at cafés where she told me about the latest online story that she had been reading.
It was always the same author. "Misty Plume" was the author's name, and she never shut up about her works.
Eventually, she got motivated and decided to write her own story, which was entitled "The Princess Tames The Puppy Duke".
She was obsessed with the saviour trope, and decided to write the love story about a man named Theon Cryteare and Rebecca Ashton.
Theon Cryteare, who happened to be my favourite character, grew up in a cold household.
His mother, who never received any attention from his father, Duke Kyre Cryteare, was cruel and mean to him.
His father was a distant man who didn't believe in love or familial affection.
He raised his son coldly, having no regard to his mental health.
Slowly, he went mad and became a war-obsessed dog like his father was to the throne.
Then, in comes the female lead, Rebecca Ashton.
An exiled princess from a distant land, she saves the male lead on the battlefield and brings him back to her cabin.
From there, Theon finally experiences what it means to receive something without expecting to return anything himself.
I cried when I read how well-structured his character was.
I told Rell how amazing it was, and she simply smiled at me, telling me that she was happy.
I don't know why, but there was sadness in her eyes when I praised her novel, especially Theon.
However, there is one small, tiny-teeny issue.
'Esteban' is the maiden name of Theon's mother...
... and the first name of his mother is Adelaide.
I did NOT just become a villain in the novel!
This doesn't seem like such a bad exchange.
As Adelaide, I get to watch my Theon grow up to become the amazing man he is destined to be.
Ahhhh, I can't help but fangirl here.
However, there is another issue.
From what I've gathered from the maids, Theon doesn't exist yet.
That means that I'll have to... 'do the dirty' with Kyre.
And not just once. From the novel, Adelaide seemingly had trouble getting pregnant.
So that means that in order for my baby boy to exist, I'll have to do it with Kyre...
My cheeks flushed and I shook my head from side to side while the maids got me ready, mocking me whenever they had the chance.
Adelaide Esteban
*thinking* So embarrassing...
Rell had made Kyre handsome on the outside, so that wasn't really an issue.
It was his personality that was a problem.
After all, he was a war-crazed General who was obsessed with the idea of victory no matter the cost.
He had developed a permafrost-type of coldness that no one could ever pierce.
However, what I've known from a young age is that all ice can melt with a strong enough heat.
I was raised from my chair and pushed out into the corridor.
Maid A
Remain silent, and hopefully he won't eat you.
Maid B
I don't think he'd get much off of her. She's all skin and bones.
I wanted to slap them so badly. I always see the female lead's in the novels slap their servants, but I don't have the guts to do it.
Soon, the door opened and I mentally prepared myself.
If I'm going to melt that permafrost-like heart of his, all I'll have to do is "bring the heat".
I'm going to seduce him, and slowly but surely, the "heat" will follow.
And with that, I'll make him slowly fall in love with this body, and soon, his heart will begin to melt.
I'm keeping myself safe from ruin while also bringing my Theon into this world!
Bring it on, Kyre Cryteare. Let's see what I have to work with.

Chapter 3 - Addie's Proposal
Maid A
Her Ladyship, Lady Adelaide Esteban.
It felt weird, being announced with a name that was foreign to me.
As I walked in, I kept my head down before slowly raising it up.
My eyes immediately laid onto the man sitting in front of an older man.
The older man shared my white hair, so I could only assume that he was my father.
And the man next to him gave a critical hit to my heart the moment I laid eyes on him.
Jet black hair, styled with a side parting, eyes of a piercing blue, a jaw that could have been mistakenly taken for a knife...
Everything about him screamed appeal.
How has no one sunk their teeth into this man already??
Count Esteban
Adelaide, bow for the Duke! Don't you know your manners?
Adelaide Esteban
*thinking* Fxxx off, you old geezer. You're partially responsible for what happened to my dear sweet Theon, you piece of xxxx.
Adelaide Esteban
*thinking* You think that you can xxxxing boss me around because you're Adelaide's xxxxing father?
Adelaide Esteban
*thinking* I'll throw you into the xxxx pit of fire myself, you xxxxing piece of xxxx.
Kyre's eyes slowly drifted towards me, and I tried my best not to hyperventilate.
It's alright, it's alright. Calm down, silly heart of mine.
I had no idea how to bow, so I just smiled delicately, pressing a hand against my chest.
Adelaide Esteban
It's lovely to meet you, Duke Cryteare.
Adelaide Esteban
My name is Adelaide Esteban. I'm sorry for not bowing, but I have unfortunately sprained my ankle. I hope that you don't take offend to it.
His harsh expression, his piercing eyes, he really is my type!
I sat down next to my father, immediately feeling something hurt me.
I looked down and noticed how he was pinching my arm until it drew blood.
I winced as he eventually threw my arm back to me.
You're going to regret that...
Adelaide Esteban
When my father told me that I would be meeting a monster today, I must admit that I thought you to be taller, and perhaps a little hairy.
Count Esteban's eyes pierced me, but I kept on smiling.
Adelaide Esteban
However, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Adelaide Esteban
I have seen what monsters look like, and I think that if you are a monster, then may everyone be blessed to see one.
Count Esteban
Adelaide, stop that at once!
When I'm getting to the good part?
Adelaide Esteban
I assume that you are here because my father wants to sell me off.
Count Esteban
T-That is none of your-
Adelaide Esteban
The Estebans are currently in a financial crisis, since they can't seem to even afford a new dress for their daughter.
Adelaide Esteban
If you threaten to hold off this marriage until after the 1st day of the new financial year, you'll be able to buy me at a discount.
Count Esteban
ADELAIDE, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?
I didn't look at my father, I looked at Kyre.
Count Esteban
She's just a silly girl saying nonsense.
Count Esteban
So, about the price that we agreed upon...
Kyre's eyes drifted off, then drifted back to me.
I began rubbing my arm, my fingers staining with the blood that my father had drawn.
Adelaide Esteban
Duke Cryteare... will you please marry me?
