"Lisa... it's Monday morning,you can't go late to school" Annabel groans as she pulls the half awake teenager off the bed

"Oh! Please Annabel,just two minutes more" Lisa begged but Annabel wasn't going to take it

"No. I warned you not to watch that movie late into the night but you refused and had to sleep 2am in the morning. Now see the consequences"

"But it was interesting"

"Oh really?"

"Yeah. And also,I don't want to sit in the class like a nobody when my classmates are busy talking about the movie. It's the season finale of walking dead and I need to have a say in the discussion...she paused...oh my gosh,school!! No I can't be late"

"You see?"

Lisa started undressing immediately. Annabel laughed at how she removed everything right in front of her

"Have some shame young lady" Annabel turned her face and Lisa rolled her eyes

"I must not go late to school today" She ran into the bathroom

"Hey chill, what's the hurry? You were not this snappy few minutes ago"

"Yeah till I remembered I had something important to do" Lisa replied coming out of the bathroom and wiping her body with a towel

"What is it?" Annabel had the feeling trouble was cooking

Lisa kept quiet for awhile

"Come on tell me"

She sighed... Actually there is this guy in school that has been getting on my nerves lately"

"So?"

"So, I'm going early to lay ambush by the school gate and when he tries to get in, I'll beat the daylight out of him"

"What!" Annabel facepalmed

"What's wrong with that?"

"Everything Lisa. You can't go about beating any guy that crosses your path"

"But...."

"No buts. You will do no such thing. Infact I'm telling dad to drive you to school"

"No Annabel, don't do this to me" she pouted giving her the puppy eyes

"You know that's not gonna work on me right?"

"This is why I miss mum"

Annabel laughs

"Aren't you ladies done yet?" They heard their father's voice from outside

"I'm done" Annabel announced

"Good morning Dad?" Lisa said as he entered the room

"Morning starlight. How was your night?"

"It was cool"

Annabel took her bag and pecked her dad's forehead.

"See you in the evening daddy"

"You too"

"And Lisa follow dad to school gently and make no trouble"

"Boring"She rolled her eyes

Annabel laughed and left.

When Lisa was done,her dad drove her to school before heading for his work place. He is the manager of a big provision store.

After his wife's death 2 years ago,Mr. Williams had quit his recent job as a lawyer of a company to take care of his beautiful daughters. Annabel and Lisa to be exact.

It wasn't easy but they were able to cope especially with Annabel supporting him as the eldest daughter. He loves them and they love him too. There is nothing more he could ask for.

ADAMS BUILDING AND DESIGN COMPANY LTD

The building was a huge one and was surrounded by employees running here and there trying to get everything ready. Their C.E.O has returned from his trip to Korea and would be there any time.

Everywhere was crowded. No one wanted to be chastised by the handsome yet merciless C.E.O of that company.

There were elevators almost every where you turn to cause it was a skyscraper. The interior designs in the Halls were highly sophisticated. The office were were divided into sections according to the building materials each needed.

The C.E.Ooffice was the highest amongst the rest and just a look down the glass window,he could see everything going on around the company.

"He's here!!!" A lady announced as a Jeep drove into the premises followed by others. A bodyguard ran and opened the door and Adams the C.E.O all has been waiting for stepped down.

Adams removed his sunglasses and breathe in the morning breeze. It's good to be home. He had actually been gone out on a business trip for two months now and he was glad to be back.

He walked into the company and all stood up to welcome him. His female employees were drooling over him. Who would blame them,he was the most handsome guy they had ever set their eyes on.

They didn't even mind his cocky personality.

After settling in his office,he sent for his manager.

The man in his early twenties walked into the office. He had a gray suit on and has good looking features.

"Good morning Mr. Adams" he greeted

"Any news?" Adams asked ignoring the greetings

"Yes sir"

"Sit down" He gestured to the seat in front of his desk

Kim which was the manager's name sat down and told Adams all that happened in his absence ranging from increased sales to opposition from other business entities. All in all nothing went out of control.

Adams nodded his head after the brief explanation from his manager.

"You may go now" Adams ordered and he left the office.

EMERALD UNIVERSITY

Annabel was having a walk in the campus garden with her best friend Alexa. Alexa was from a rich home and both had become best friends. They were both in their final year and was done for the day.

"Annie have you heard the latest news?" Alexa said sitting on the grass

"No I haven't" Annabel replied and sat down beside her

"The C.E.O of that huge and beautiful building company returned from Korea today. I saw it on Twitter. You need to see his pics. He is hot"

"Okay" Annabel wasn't interested

"Look at his pics...she brought her phone out and showed Annabel the pictures... isn't he dreamy?"

"I have to admit. He's cute"

"Yeah. Are you going to the restaurant today?"

"Yes I almost forgot. I need to go now" She stood up

"Come on I'll drive" Both walked over to Alexa's Benz and she drove them to the restaurant.

AT THE RESTAURANT

Annabel alighted from the car and waved Alexa goodbye before entering the restaurant. She changed to her uniform and started serving the customers.

Bon Avenue is one of the best five star restaurant around New York City. It is a specialist in both home made and outside delicacies. Annabel served as a waitress there and business has been booming.

"Annabel,please serve that man at the VIP table for me please" Linda who was serving the other table requested

"Okay" She took food to the table where two men were seated. She served them ignoring their stares.

"Enjoy your meal" She smiled and left.

Her shift ended 6pm and she left the restaurant. It had rained an hour ago and so there were mud puddles everywhere.

She stood by the side on the road opposite the restaurant waiting for a cab when a Jeep that was about to turn to the side of the restaurant splashed mud all over her white T-shirt and black skirt.

"What the hell!!! She exclaimed

"What the hell?!!!" Annabel looked at her clothes. Jeez it doesn't look good. She expected the driver to step out of the car and apologize to her but the car drove past her and parked at the entrance to the restaurant. She got angry and stormed to where the car was.

IN THE CAR

"Hey,Adams I think we splashed mud on that lady" Richard who was Adams childhood friend and complete opposite of the latter said with concern.

"So what?" Adams replied nonchalantly

"So we have to apologize to her"

Adams Scoffed and Richard knew the answer right away.

"Adams she's here"

"Who?"

"The lady" He pointed at Annabel who was hitting the car violently

Adams sighed

"Lawrence go find out what she wants now" he ordered the driver who nods and opened the car door stepping out to meet Annabel's angry face.

"How may I help you ma'am?" He asked looking at her muddy clothes

Annabel threw her hands in the air

"Oh great,just great. He bathed me with mud then comes out to ask how he can help me" she laughs slowly and faces the driver "I can see you don't have eyes look at what you did to my clothes"

"I don't understand" Lawrence said

"You don't understand? I'm covered in mud as a result of the mud puddles you splashed on me while driving"

"Oh I see"

"And..." She was expecting an apology

"Goodnight" He said and turned to leave

"Stop right there" Annabel was vexed. Is that all he has to say after doing this to her,he is going no where

"What is it?" Lawrence felt irritated

"Don't they know how to say sorry where you come from?"

"Apparently not" he shrugged

Annabel looked at the man. He was wearing a black suit and had black hair. He wasn't looking bad at all. She observed him a little and asked

"Are you a chauffeur?"

"Yes"

"Okay. I would like to see your boss"

"Without his permission? No" Lawrence wasn't ready for Adams bad mouth that evening

"I demand to see your boss now!"

"What's going on here?" Adams had stepped out of the car with Richard and a body guard followed them.

Annabel shivered at that sexy voice and turned to the direction the voice came from. She looked at Adams from head to toe oh my gosh this guy was hot. She guessed and stared at him in both surprise and admiration. And he wasn't alone. She looked at Richard too. He was also good looking. Did God decide to send Angels in form of man to earth today? She was knocked out of her thoughts by his words again

"I repeat,what's going on here?"

"Sir,this lady said we splashed mud on her with the car" Lawrence answered pointing his index finger at Annabel

Adams gaze landed on Annabel. He observed her for a while. The aura around her was a strong one. The lady was very beautiful with cute hair that was brushed on her forehead. He was intrigued by her beauty. His eyes went over to her muddy clothes

Annabel felt uneasy as a result of his gaze. Why was he looking at her like that?

"Good evening sir"

Her voice was sweet to his ears and he smiled inside.

"You said we splashed you mud right?"

"Yes"

"And you're making a big deal out of it. It's just mud that can wash off. Your reaction was a childish one. There was no need yelling at the top of your lungs"

Adams saw that beautiful face turn to an angry one

"Are you saying that its unnecessary for me to tell him that he splashed mud on me?" Annabel was infuriated. He was handsome but lacked manners

"Yes of course"

"How dare you? Do you think I'll stand here and watch him go scot free without confronting him about what he did? Can't you think with that head of yours?" Annabel wasn't gonna let this slide

Adams including everyone around him were taken aback by her statement. No one has dared to talk to the merciless CEO like that. Lawrence's mouth dropped open. This lady was digging her grave.

The bodyguards stepped forward and wanted to go towards her but Adams stopped them.

"How dare you say such words? Do you know who he is?" Lawrence asked angrily

"Do I look like I care?" Annabel snapped back

Richard was impressed by her bravery. Too bad she was gonna be dead meat soon.

"This isn't fair at all. I'm the victim here and your boss should have been remorseful at least" She said

Adams smirked. This lady had some nerves. He took out 200 dollars from his suit pocket and threw it at her

"There...I'm remorseful now. Take the money and fix yourself. You can keep the change though cause I'm sure you're gonna need it"

Annabel was dumbfounded. What does he take her for? A stranded lady in need of cash? She took the money walked over to him,took his surprisingly soft hands so she thought and dropped the money in it then took a step back. Richard and the rest were shocked

"I don't want your money mister. An apology is fine" She said looking in Lawrence direction

"And you're not gonna get anyone. Who gave you the effrontery to disrespect me? Are you dumb or what?" Adams asked getting irritated by her bravery

"Excuse you? You are the dumb one here. You're no gentleman at all and so is your driver"

"How dare you?" Adams was angry now

His bodyguards were waiting for an order to deal with this disrespectful lady but none came.

Annabel stared at him not ready to give in and a stare down between the two ensued with both parties unwilling to back down.

Richard knew things were about to get complicated so he stepped in

"Stop now both of you please"

"Stay out of this Richard" Adams warned

"Dude come on you're better than this. People are watching. Do you want to end up in the newspaper headlines tomorrow as the CEO that has a fight or better still a disagreement with a lady?"

Hearing that,Adams stopped and made way into the car after saying

"This isn't over lady"

A glare was what he got from Annabel as a response

"Aren't you eating again?" Richard asked after him

"I've lost my appetite" was his reply

Richard looked at Annabel and smiled at her

Lawrence was about to go when Richard stopped him

"Lawrence" he called

"Yes sir"

"Apologize to the lady"

"But-"

"Now!"

Lawrence was left with no other choice than to obey. Adams was his boss but he has to obey Lawrence too. Lawrence parents were also very rich and owns an oil and gas company. He was their heir plus they and Adams parents were family friends.

"I'm sorry Ma'am" his apology though forced was sincere and it melted Annabel's heart

"It's fine" She said and grinned

"You may go" Richard smiled at Lawrence and he left. The guy was really friendly and Lawrence mood lightened up immediately.

Annabel liked Richard kind gesture. He was the complete opposite of that mister sassy pants.

"Hi"Richard waved at her

"Hey" She smiled

She was cute. Richard couldn't believe this was same lady that shut their CEO up previously.

"I'm Richard"

"Annabel"

They shake hands

"Sorry about tonight"

"Its cool"

"What are you gonna do about your clothes" he said

"I don't know and don't think of helping me with money"

"Okay?" He was unsure

She would have used the clothes she wore to school but the mud touched it too cause she put it in a nylon and it wasn't tied.

Suddenly she felt something warm around her. Richard had used his coat to cover her.

"No I can't take this" She protested

"Please"

She sighed and nodded. He was in a white long sleeves now and hopped into the car after waving her goodbye. She had collected his address so as to return the coat that was half way down her knees.

She sighed and left for the house

ADAMS APARTMENT

Adams got out of the car and rushed in angrily followed by Richard

"Calm down okay?" Richard said

"No one dares talk to me in that manner? Not even guys. How dare she? Who does she think she is?" He snapped pacing to and fro

"A lady?" Richard answered and Adams fired him a glare. He smiled and took a step back

"I'm going to teach her a lesson"

"Are you sure about that? I think its gonna backfire" Richard was teasing him on purpose

Adams was about to say something when they heard a knock on the door

"Are you expecting someone?" Richard asked and Adams shook his head

"I'll go check it out" Adams said and strode to the door

He opened the door and saw a familiar face.

He asked uninterestingly

"What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here?" Adams asked

"Is that the proper way of welcoming me after traveling for months?" The lady at the door asked

"And is it proper for a lady to walk into a guy's house at night?" Adams asked

"You haven't changed at all. For goodness sake I'm your fiancee"

Adams scoffed

"Says who?"

She sighed and walked into the room with her heels making it's own music on the floor. Her eyes met with that of Richard. She gave him a fake smile and waved

"Hi Richard"

"Hi Charlotte" The way he replied her showed he doesn't like her oh well,the feeling was mutual. She hates him too

Adams closed the door and walked over to them.

"I'll be in the other room" Richard stood up and went upstairs.

The house was Adams own but Richard and Gideon who was also their childhood friends stayed there. The boys decided to live under same roof and they've been doing well. Gideon went for an appointment and will be back the following day.

Charlotte sat down on the couch and crossed her legs. This irritated Adams. He never liked this lady in the first place but his parents wants him to marry her.

"How was your trip?" She asked

"Fine"

She stood up and walked towards him cupping his cheeks with her hands.

"Oh Adams,you have no idea how much I missed you" She wanted to kiss him but he pushed her away

"How are your parents?" He changed the topic

She sighed and sat down. This guy doesn't even have any feelings for her but she isn't gonna let him go. She is Charlotte Vegas daughter of Mr. Eben Vegas. She doesn't give up.

"They're fine" She replied

Adams walked over to an opposite couch and sat down.

"When will you be leaving?" He asked

"Hey I just got here"

"I know"

"You didn't offer me a drink and you're already asking when I'll be leaving?"

"Do I look like your maid or house boy? I have a book and maids in this house and you know that. Why didn't you call any of them to get you a drink?"

"It's fine. I'm not thirsty"

"So when are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow"

"Why?"

"Nothing just wanna spend some time with you"

"Charlotte its late. Go home"

"I'm your fiancee and I'm going nowhere"

"Soothe yourself then"He walked upstairs to his room

MR.WILLIAMS HOUSE

Annabel opened the gate and walked to the verandah. Lisa and her dad were playing chess when she entered. Both were surprised to see her.

"Did you take your bath in mud today?" Lisa asked suppressing the laughter that threatened to escape her mouth

"Very funny" Annabel said sarcastically

"Lisa,that's not a nice way to welcome your sister" Mr. Williams said

"Sorry"Lisa apologized covering her mouth

"What happened to you dear?" Her father asked with concern written all over his face

"It's nothing serious dad. I got splashed with mud but I'm fine" She smiled

"And the coat?" He asked

"Oh someone gave it to me to cover the mud"

"Alright. Make sure you return it to the owner tomorrow okay?"

Annabel nodded

"I'll be in my room" She left them for her room and Lisa followed her.

ANNABEL'S ROOM

"I know there is more to the explanation you gave daddy" Lisa said lying on the bed

"What makes you think so?" Annabel asked removing the coat and tossing it to the bed

"Cause you're my sister and I know you like the back of my hand. Enough with the pretence,tell me what really happened...she took the coat and sniffed it...who gave you this coat? It smells nice" She sniffs again

Annabel snatches it from her

"Stop that's weird"

"Really?...As I was saying,tell me the person that pissed and I'll pay them a visit tomorrow"

Annabel sighed and told Lisa everything.

"What!!! I'm so mad at you" Lisa fumed

Annabel was confused

"Why?"

"You should have taken the money and even ask for more. Even if you're not gonna use it,you would have given it to me"

"Not everybody is like you Lisa" Annabel removed the muddy clothes and tied a towel from her chest down to her knees

"What about the nice boy? Is he cute"Lisa asked blinking

"Yes he's really cute but unfortunately the grumpy one is cuter" Annabel said

"Wow can I follow you when you go to return the coat please? I would like to see them"

"You'll see only Richard. I don't think he and Adams are staying together"

"Adams....is that his name?"

"I guess. Seriously,why are you asking alot of questions? Hope it isn't what I'm thinking"

"Let me see them first"

"Oh Lisa"

"Hey Annie"

They laughed before Annabel walked into the bathroom. Lisa rolled on the bed and sighed.

"Hmm it seems my big Sis is attracted to one of those guys and I'm gonna find out tomorrow" She laughs

THE NEXT DAY...

STAR MODELS HIGH SCHOOL

The halls were flooded with students who were preparing for auditions for the spot of contesting for the new king/queen of the school Lisa included.

Star models high school was one of the best schools for training students who are aspiring to be models. Lisa is in the school on scholarship due to her marvelous performance at the teen models competition.

The spot for the king/queen of models were eyed by almost everyone in the school. It has great privileges including winning the sum of 300 thousand dollars for the first runner up plus free VIP lunch in the school. Everybody is busy.

Lisa and her best friend Marla were working on their poses when Sarah and her companion Emma came to look for trouble.

Sarah was the most popular girl in school,from a rich home and also beautiful and proud. She felt Lisa was a threat and is doing her best to make Lisa back out of the competition.

"What's up Lisa" She faked a smile

Lisa looked at her

"Are you here to look for trouble cause if you are,you're not gonna find it today. I'm busy" Lisa said

"You're busy preparing to loose in the competition? You won't even get picked to contest with that pale skin of yours" Sarah said and Emma added

"I'm sure she won't even afford the money for the audition gown"

Marla was about to talk but Lisa stopped her

"Let it go Marla. Don't let this potatoe for a brain get to you"

"Lisa repeat that statement"

"Why? Are you deaf? Cause a reasonable and sensible person should have heard and understood what I mean" Lisa said

Sarah got angry and tried to slap her when someone held her hand. It was Dylan,the guy that Lisa had planned to beat up recently before Annabel stopped her.

"Get your filthy hands off me Dylan" She said and he smirked

"I will but let me warn you first. Don't ever I repeat ever raise this skinny hand of yours to slap Lisa again else you won't like my bad side" he said and let go of her hand

"Why are you even defending her? She isn't your class" Sarah snapped

"Neither are you" he replied and Lisa jeered

Sarah stomped her feet in anger then pushed Lisa out of her way and left.

"Thanks for standing up for me"Lisa said

"You're welcome and keep practicing you're gonna win"

Lisa smiled and nodded.

BON AVENUE RESTAURANT

Annabel was done with her shift and was about to live the restaurant when Sam who was the cook stopped her. He was a 25 year old guy and had brown hair. He was also good looking.

"Annabel hope all is well?" He asked

"Yeah. What made you ask?"

"I saw you arguing with a guy yesterday"

"Oh that one...the guy doesn't have manners so I wanted to teach him some"

"Do you know who that guy is?" He ashes with fear

"He does look familiar but I couldn't figure out where I've seen him before"

"That guy is Adams the CEO of Adams building and architectural design company"

She thinks for a while

"Oh i remember him now. My bestie showed me his pic yesterday"

"Yes he is not someone you should mess with. He is rude and merciless and won't spare you if you mess with him"

"Oh really"

"Yeah. You never want to enter his bad books" Sam said shuddering

"I think I have" Annabel said and Sam gasped

"You're lucky he didn't send you to jail"

"For what actually? For standing up to him?"

"You never can tell"

Just then Lisa walked in

"My sister is here. I have to go now"

"Okay bye and Goodnight"

"Goodnight"

She walked up to Lisa

"Are we good to go?" She asked

"Yes the coat is in my bag" Lisa said and hung the bag on one shoulder.

They made their way to Adams apartment using the address Richard gave Annabel. They got there soon enough.

ADAMS APARTMENT

They were ushered into the house by the body guards after Annabel showed them the card Richard had given her. They called him on phone and he gave them permission to let her in.

The guys were in the living room having a hearty discussion since Gideon the conversation starter was back. Suddenly the door bell rang

The show was about to start

"Adams can you please check who's at the door?" Richard asked

"Why? You're closer to the door"Adams complained

"Stop grumbling and do as you're told" Gideon said. Richard had already told him everything and he was dying to see that pretty lady that stood up to Adams rendering him speechless.

"Fine" Adams stood up and went to the door

Richard looked at Gideon and both smiled

The fun was about to begin

Adams opened the door and the smile on his face disappeared when he saw Annabel. What was she doing in his house?

Annabel on the other hand was shocked to see him. What was he doing in Richard's house?

Trouble started knocking

Adams looked her and said

"Hello Ms. Grumpy"

Annabel replied

"Hi Mr. Sassy pants"
