On a gigantic, land mass continent, known as Mondal, there are two great tribes. One tribe consisted of people being able to use the power of water and the other tribe, the people are able to use the power of fire.
Hundreds of years have passed and the two great tribes, known as the Water Tribe and the Fire Tribe, have not found peace. They have been in several wars and many skirmishes. The power of water would be used to flood out the people of fire, as they weren't immune to water, and they would drown. It was likewise with the Water Tribe, as they were not immune to fire, they would be burnt to cinders by the Fire Tribe, leaving only ash behind. The people were instead, immune to their own power, as the Fire Tribe was immune to fire, and the Water Tribe was immune to Water.
If one was to focus and harness their power, they could expand it further...Or condense it to one very strong spout that nobody without immunity would be about to withstand!
It was commonly known that the more power that one possessed, was how noble you were within your tribe.
It was in the last thirty years that new ideas were forming, in the search of more power.
The leader of the Water Tribe finally caught a prisoner, a noble from the Fire Tribe, hiding her safely and surrounded her by water, so that there was no way of escape. It was more than just a prison for this young noble miss, it was a nightmare. She had become a test subject!
After she refused to share any information regarding the Fire Tribe to the leader of the Water Tribe, she was tortured, and her body was ravaged thoroughly.
The once powerful noble lady of the Fire Tribe became a lifeless corpse, only for the Water Tribe to obtain two facts unknown previously. One was that of the females from both the Water and Fire tribes exhibited the same womanly features...Which led to the leader of the Water Tribe to obtain yet another young noble from the Fire Tribe to imprison.
His goal...To produce an heir that contained fire and water powers and that they were to have immunity to them both! This would make the Water Tribe victorious over the Fire Tribe!
This leader of the Water Tribe, known as Dracon, became the father of Loralle.
Where the Water Tribe was located, it consisted of many lakes that came in several different types of lengths and depths. They all surrounded the biggest lake on the continent, it was huge and strangely, it looked menacing. This huge lake was known by all to stay away from, as it was life threatening. In the history, that they know of, this lake had only led to people’s deaths, yet, it seemed that it was also very important. It just wasn't known why.
The other lakes were not of this nature, they even were the homes for the Water Tribal members.
As the people were immune to water, they could also breath in it, just as you normally would outside.
This was also the last defense of the Water Tribe, as the Fire Tribe would not be able to kill them all, as the Water Tribesmen would be able to escape inside the deep water. They have not had to use this strategy for as long as they could remember, and they continued to grow slowly in lakes and population.
The Water Tribal village looked closer to a fresh swamp land. Much of their food consisted of fish, that was eaten raw. Other foods consisted of octopus, squid and even scallops.
Rain would often happen over their area regarding who or how many new children were born. If a noble was born, a huge thunderstorm would appear, with a heavy downfall of rain, no matter whether the child was male or female.
This kind of land style was similar to that of the Fire Tribe. The biggest, and only, volcano on the continent of Mondal, was situated in the middle of the Fire Tribe village. Again, it was classified as a very dangerous place that you could lose your life in. The magma was so extremely hot, that the people could not live too close to it. It was further, down below the volcano, that they situated their homes. The continuously flowing magma made magma pools below, that were cooler for the Fire Tribal members to live in. There were distinct types of pools, which implied their status of power and just like the water, it was also their last line of defense. They would, if necessary, get the protection from the magma to be able to continue their lives. In their history, also, there wasn't a time in which they had gotten to the point of using this kind of strategy.
The Fire Tribe ate cooked food, easily done by themselves, if they weren’t lazy enough to catch their own food. But…Many of them didn’t care for hunting and bought food from lower people, or simply went to an inn.
When someone was born, the volcano would erupt to a degree of depending on how much power the child was born with. At a time, the Fire Tribe were extremely worried as twin noble children had been born and the volcano erupted with so much magma that the people scurried away for a time in worry. The dark black cloud, that came with the erupted magma, covered all of the Fire Tribe village for two whole days, before it started to dissipate.
On one side of each tribe, they would seem to be very close and that was where they would fight. Yet, on the other side, it was a barren, desolate, earth wasteland. Defenses were up, even though there weren't any fights that occurred.
It was a big, vast place that would take many weeks to cross, perhaps even an entire year, it was uncertain.
That was the land that the two great tribes knew of, for thousands of miles. Even nomads didn't know of much more then this...It was like a desert, there was a whole lot of nothing and…Both tribes had no desire to venture into it.
What was fact…Was that they rarely had to worry about spy’s in their bases. Everyone knew that they each hated each other that much that even the thought of spying, made them feel sick!
And the most mysterious thing was…Why weren’t they immune to their own menacing lake and huge volcano…
***
It was unknown to Loralle of what truly happened to both her mother and father. Only three people knew of her origins and even though she was the late tribal leader's daughter, they didn't treat her as such.
At the time of her birth, her mother had killed her father in vengeance and Loralle was left on the cold earth, that was being heated by fire from her mother and dampened by the water that was the connected power of her father.
For a brief time, she had been abandoned, until her mother was killed by three people.
For these three people, they were the Water Tribe’s protectors, John, Sam and Rick, and they hated Loralle for having caused their leaders death, and that...She also had the blood of their enemy!
The protectors had never liked their leader’s idea of combining powers, as it seemed absolutely blasphemous! Even with the idea of victory, the fact of putting the fire power with their own water power made them sick! But, their leader had indeed, somewhat, changed some time ago and they wondered how he could think of doing something so outrageous!
The last words of Dracon had stopped the protectors from killing Loralle, on the time of her birth...
But it was since her birth that Loralle had to learn to endure many hardships, alone.
Having the protectors accompany her, they had kept others away and rarely treated her like a human. They had refused to always feed her and give her water, making her come close to death many times, especially in infancy. Having someone with fire in their blood were not good enough to be with the Water Tribe, is what the protectors thought, even talking to them was too much!
They, themselves, didn't even wish to be near her!
She lived amongst the poor, learning to feed herself with scraps and she went a long time without a lake to cover herself.
With silence overflowing in her life, Loralle rarely even thought thoughts. Her watchful eyes made her act naturally, and in basic instinct, for food and water to lead her to survival.
For being abused and without being taught, Loralle thought this was normal…So now, her survival instincts became very strong and played a big part of her life.
The protectors decided that she should be brought up to be the least lady like as possible, so that the Water Tribesmen would come to think of her as a leader, when that day would arrive.
They didn't show her about brushing her hair, making sure her back was straight and other ladylike gestures, so that she would more so come across as a man. But, to some extent, this was also an excuse...To stay away from her.
Perhaps, all this poor treatment was what taught Loralle, her first power of earth.
The power of earth wasn't even a myth, it was unheard of. Even in the histories from centuries ago, that were safely kept, there was still nothing about the power of earth.
Due to her isolation from everybody, Loralle took it upon herself to make the earth her friend instead. It never spoke back, but as she could use it, she would always nod her gratitude.
She knew that it seemed to be the only thing that was helping her and that it seemed quite happy to do so!
Even, to what seemed to be her people, didn't help her. With this, she was able to find out, by accident…
She was just starting to use her power, when she wanted to see others nearby. Having her hand on the earth, at that time, the earth showed her others around her in her own head.
It was that astonishing to her that she took her hand away and ran away in a flash!
Run, Jump, Run and hide...The protector's lost her.
She thought that she was dreaming while being awake, but she tried a few days later and spied on the protectors, who were huffing and panting, and found that they had never left her…They were just hiding.
Not long after, she could tell through their words, that people close by seemed to be the people she should know…But she didn’t know them because the protectors kept them away on purpose.
So, Loralle started to form words from her feelings, into her head, and was able to start thinking for herself.
She became totally independent, not needing the protectors help for survival anymore, even though she was still clumsy at looking after herself. But she was, indeed, very compassionate towards her power.
The three protectors were quite astonished at her powers. It was neither that of water or fire...But of earth?
Was it possible that another power could be found and used?
Even knowing about it though, they still had no urge at all to learn anything more about it.
They had never told her how to use the power of water, even after several years of following her. Yet, she had learnt something totally different...
They had no words to her amateur earth-built homes or her earth built weapons to catch her own food.
…Seeing her use another power that wasn't their own, seemed to sicken them, but they were bound by strict orders and so...They could never kill her with their indescribable hate!
Through their constant sickness, they continued to endure!
They stopped getting in her way, of making things harder for her, and continued to watch her from a distance. Although, this may also be yet another excuse, just to stay even further away from her.
Even though the protectors had left her sight, she stayed away from others. They wondered if it was a habit? Or did she not like other people?
What they had failed to see was that she didn't even know that they were no longer hindering her from seeing other people...They didn't tell her. They didn't feel obligated to tell her.
Loralle had been deprived of a parent’s love and friendship her whole life thus far...They were unsure how to continue...Should they bring her back to the village instead? No! She has the blood of the enemy!
They were worried about her upbringing as a leader, yet, couldn’t fathom her closer to the Water Tribal members…
It really was quite a predicament for them!
But, as time moved on, they watched her grow to a young, boyish girl, then into a dirty looking, young woman. Her clothes were always tattered, but covered the curves of her body, her brown hair was always a mess and she had eyes that seemed as deep as an abyss.
Dirt seemed to always cover her fair skin and she seemed to scamper around rapidly, making the protectors lose her quite a few times. Seeing her like this, they knew now, that it would be too late to invite her back into the tribe…
Her mannerisms seemed so far from that of a tribal leader’s daughter, that she seemed to be closer to an animal.
And those who saw a glimpse of her...Didn't even know what gender she was. So, to one point that the protectors had set to achieve, it happened!
The three protectors slowly gained respect towards her, through her powers. Even though it still made them feel sick, they had never met someone as powerful as her ever in their whole lives...
They were also sure, that in the past, there was never someone so powerful then either. Her powers were immense and seemed to have that ultimate feeling towards them, that they felt that they had to bow down before her.
Not only that...But she had learnt all her powers by herself, giving them the idea that she was quite a talented, smart person.
Except...Sometimes she really did improper, strange things that made them wonder...
Through her investigating the fire power, somehow, her face would turn all black as some sort of noise would happen...
There was a time, also, that she was investigating the water power and they had gotten wet several times! It had irritated them endlessly but never wanted to show themselves. Of course, she knew exactly where they were and did it on purpose!
The protectors were even flabbergasted that she had survived the huge, menacing lake! It really had worried them when she had entered it, but they still made no move to save her from it...
Watching her all this time, they hadn't worried much about their own Water Tribe village but...Suddenly, they were all called back to it.
They had to run at full speed, as they watched her race ahead on a piece of earth that she sat on leisurely. It was quite a magnificent sight, watching the piece that she was sitting on stay unmoving, but beneath it was a triangle of continuously, rapidly, moving earth!
The power of earth was indeed, something very powerful and the protectors felt very happy that this girl was on their side.
Loralle was, at this point, sixteen years old.
***
Her father had other children, of course, but now, all the males had perished due to war or skirmishes. His daughters were not considered to be leaders and the two eldest daughters had already started a family. Their families power was known by not just all the Water Tribe, but the Fire Tribe also. They were leaders because of their immense power and keeping the Water Tribe safe all this time. Dracon's bloodline had been leaders for the last two hundred years and the people of the Water Tribe don't want their bloodline and powers to disappear. They all valued this family greatly and no one had ever betrayed them.
Loralle had been the last child that Dracon had and, suddenly...She became the new leader of the Water Tribe...
When Loralle heard this piece of news from the protectors, who had always been following her, she didn't show any emotion on her face.
She didn't quite understand what a leader had to do...Considering she learnt that the last leader had died in battle, battle was something, that as a 'leader', she definitely didn't want to do, simply because she didn’t want to die…
It had already been known to her, who her father was, but that was all she knew about him. The protector’s whisperings in the past, about who she was, only made her dislike people and question more things as she grew up. What was still unclear to her, was what had happened to her mother. In silence, she had discretely looked for her in the past…To no avail.
Well, if she was being honest, she had no idea what she was looking for...Apparently mother's looked similar to their children...They also tended to stay close to their children. So, she looked for somebody, close by, who looked just like her...
Her conclusion was, her mother was either far away or didn't look like her at all! Of course, even if she dressed up and combed her hair and then searched, looking for someone similar to that look instead...She still wouldn't have found her.
What hadn’t occurred to her was that even now, no one else seemed to know about her either.
Now, the protectors were bowing in acceptance of their new leader and vowed their loyalty to her. It was yet, another big accomplishment for them to have finally achieved!
Sixteen years...Now Dracon's wish had come true!
And the people of the Water Tribe see that the protectors recognize Loralle as their new leader...So…They had no choice but to do the same…
Squatting on a boulder, Loralle stayed there, while looking out over at the rest of the Water Tribe. What they didn't know, was that to her, they weren't strangers. Through the earth, she had acknowledged every single person near...And far, which includes the Fire Tribe...They had all, unknowingly, helped her to grow, in some respect.
Through the earth and watching them, Loralle was taught language and how to use her powers. They had helped her to know that her animalistic ways were quite...Scary. So, she had tried to pick up on some of their ways of mannerisms and speech. She also knew that they didn't have a hatred for her, that they didn't even know who she was!
Their expectant glances looked at her, while she just squatted there and stared right back at them.
They heard that their new leader was powerful, so much so that they will totally eradicate all of the Fire Tribe!
What was strange to the tribal members, was her looks. ‘He’ didn’t look powerful at all. ‘He’ looked like ‘he’ wasn't from the Water Tribe in the slightest!
It was very normal for a Water Tribal member to be clean…But…
Not only that, their new leader’s eyes would skitter everywhere very quickly, making them think that there was something wrong with them.
The only reason they were sure about this new leader, was because of John, Sam and Rick’s attitude towards them. Everyone knew that the three protectors would always stay with the most powerful leader!
…A well-known attribute of the Water Tribe, was loyalty, so, no questions were asked about her attire or her mannerisms.
They also happily assumed that Loralle was, indeed, a male. A male that didn’t seem to talk…And didn't look like they knew what to do...
As time passed, it became an awkward silence. In this time, Loralle was pondering her next step. Even though these people helped her, should she just kill them all, so that they didn't have to fight anymore?
Her reasoning's were like this because of watching them fight every now and then. Even watching the Fire Tribal members die, haunted her, but for her to kill everyone…Seemed cruel…Could she endure that kind of cruelty?
Sighing, Loralle knew she couldn't kill the entire village, not that she wasn't strong enough, it was more so because they had helped her…And, it would make her feel bad!
Her plan must not be to totally eradicate everybody, but it needs to be big enough, though, that both tribes stop fighting...
The protectors nudged her. "Say something to your tribe, Loralle...Lead them, to the Fire Tribe’s deaths!"
Yet, it had completely slipped their minds…That they had not taught her how to speak!
Loralle sneered. It was obvious to her of what she had missed out on. She had seen other children, through the earth, grow up with their loved ones. She hadn't even been able to see anyone in person until she was seven years old...And, she had heard the three people talk about her...Her usefulness.
Obviously, they still thought that she would do as they ordered her to do. And at present, she was told to lead the tribe to have death that she had already seen a lot of, even without being at front lines.
She didn't want to be any part of that.
Didn't some of them see it themselves, that the other leader died through battle? She thought that they were all idiots!
Looking at her hand, she clenched it and the earth rumbled beneath everyone's feet.
"Wow, the new leader is strong!"
"Amazing!"
"With this power...We could kill the entire Fire Tribe!"
She could kill everyone here so easily...Would it be worth it...Not to kill them?
the protectors know of her power and decided to stay back, away from the fight, because they didn't want to die!
As much as they wanted to see their leader defeat the enemy in battle, they were quite scared that even watching would be too close! Not only that, it was still quite unbearable to follow someone who wields another type of power. Luckily, the tribe know nothing about what type of power their new leader has, all they know is, that they are very powerful.
Jumping down from the boulder, to squat on the ground, Loralle touched the earth. She saw within her mind at what seemed to be the border between the Fire and the Water Tribes, quite some distance away.
Defenses on both sides were out of the range of each other and it seemed to be somewhat of a cease fire.
It had been a couple of hours now, that some of the Water Tribesmen had raced back knowing that their previous leader had been killed.
…Recently killed bodies of the Fire Tribe were seen, as they had tried to force through the Water Tribe's defenses after they had been forced the Water Tribe back. One or two were still alive and Loralle clenched her jaw, seeing their pain and blood all over their faces, which made her want to act that tiny bit faster in her plans.
Sneering again, Loralle stood up and walked towards the border. Her plan was set...She was going to scare the living daylights out of everyone! And stop this stupid war!
The Water Tribal members made way for their new leader and followed her towards the border…Towards the war that had continued for countless of years!
As the protectors watched their new leader walk off with many of their tribesmen, leaving a few hundred of the powerful nobles and the pitiful commoners behind, they smiled at each other.
They hadn't been sure on what her actions were going to be, but this seemed to be better then what they had expected!
Wanting to celebrate, they slapped each other on their backs. They hadn't wasted sixteen years! They had all thought now, that it was well worth it and thinking of their deceased leader, they smiled in satisfaction.
Finally, they didn't have to worry anymore! The Fire Tribe...Will finally be exterminated!
They felt very relieved at this moment! Especially since they didn't feel so sick anymore!
"Let's drink to celebrate!" Rick yelled excitedly.
"To our new, most powerful leader!" Sam added.
"To our hard work!" John said.
"For the Water Tribe! The rulers of Mondal!" Rick said, walking into some lake that led to an inn.
***
After about two hours of walking, and seeing less and less lakes in sight, the Water Tribesmen made it to their defences and Loralle looked into the distance.
It was a sorry sight indeed.
Fire would be seen in random areas, just like water puddles.
The defenses went for kilometers, so that no one could get past each side. Steam could be seen as fire had clashed with water and much of the land looked charred black or had muddy puddles with deep footprints.
Blood…It was in water or near fire, on the mud and charred ground. Water and fire seemed unable to mix, but blood seemed to be something that could connect them both.
There were people who looked exhausted and defeated. Also, people who were excited and arrogant.
But, the hatred was evident, on both the Fire and Water Tribesmen faces.
Everybody…Hated the other side…
Even though Loralle had seen this through the earth earlier, it was another thing to personally see it with one’s eyes. She tried to breath properly at the sight of people being controlled by hatred and put her head down in defeat.
So much…
Loralle had not understood until now…How the world actually worked! How important her journey really was…
Then voices snapped her back to reality.
"Is that our new leader?"
"Uh? Who?"
"I've never seen that person before!"
"But, it must be, they are in the front..."
"They look weak...And dirty..."
"Yeah, why didn't any of Dracon's kids ever have kids, their famous power is disappearing!"
"Isn't this another of Dracon's kids?"
"Has to be...Right?"
Loralle continued to walk slowly towards the center of the battlefield, not caring about what was being said. She honestly had no words for them anyway, but she didn't know that, as a leader, one job was to urge the subordinates to help higher their morale.
Her silence did the opposite, they were quite uneasy and worried about their own leader.
People from the Fire Tribe watched, as she continued to walk towards them. As others followed behind that one person, the Fire Tribe wondered why they looked so confident again, as it hadn't been long since their leader had been killed!
"Are they...Just strike them down! Now!"
The Fire Tribe went into action, throwing fire power towards Loralle and the force behind her.
The people behind her started to grow anxious and wondered what was going to happen. She had not even sped up to run and there was no shield of water going up either. Wasn't she going to save them from the impending attack?
"I not...Ask." Loralle's voice was hoarse.
She had wanted to imply that she hadn't asked them to follow but they all didn't understand and continued anyway. At that small moment, Loralle found that not only learning the language was hard but speaking it was something entirely different!
It was, indeed, the first time she had spoken to anybody...
What was it the people following her had expected?
Why do they feel like they are just about to die? Why did their leader look totally unsympathetic?
But, she wasn't totally unsympathetic, she just hadn't been brought up as they had expected.
She hadn't known they were going to follow her in harm's way and she hadn't known what words to say, to tell them to stop! Didn't they have brains? Why did they follow me!?
If the people wanted to blame somebody...It would have been something that the protectors should have taught her...But then, with them being unable to like her because of her powers...Then, was it the powers fault?
The fire powers descended and burnt some who had followed her.
Screams filled the air, as a few hundred men ran around in pain. Some, who hadn't had fire directed on them, were bumped into by those who were, and now, more people were burning. Others used their water powers to drench some who had gotten on fire.
…More and more Water Tribal members started to run back to the defenses, to get out of harm’s way.
"Leader!"
"Save us!"
The people of the Water Tribe were confused, they didn't even know what else to say...Why? Their leader hadn't done...Anything...
Loyalty may have been a well-known attribute of the Water Tribe but...How was Loralle to know what it was? How would she know how to lead? It was a real blunder to the Water Tribe!
The protectors had taught her the opposite of loyalty and leadership...And that was that she knew how to turn her back to people, without a second glance!
Loralle continued on her own now, not even turning to the screams behind her, and with no guilty conscience whatsoever!
She was not worried that the fire would hurt her, due to her immunity from it, and left the rest of the Water Tribe behind. She looked on coldly towards the Fire Tribe, as she got closer to her desired spot...Right in the middle of the two tribes defenses.
During this time, the Fire Tribe continued to use their fire power to rain down on her, but they suddenly felt that something wasn't right, as she had stopped walking…
"I...I think they are immune...To…To fire." The stammering words had never wanted to be heard or uttered by any of the Fire Tribal members...
"Sir, nothing is hurting that one in the middle!" Many thoughts were of those who were not accepting this possibility. It can't be! It can't be! They must be dreaming!
"If...If they are immune...Sir!?" The Fire Tribal member, that led the defense of the Fire Tribe, felt himself tremble.
This was...The Fire Tribe’s worst nightmare!
The defense line of the Fire Tribe started to step back unconsciously, through absolute fear! Seeing an enemy immune to their attacks was something totally unforeseen, it was something that could cause a huge pandemic to their entire tribe!
So many of them stared wide eyed at the person in the center of the battlefield!
They were all silent now as the news set into their minds...
Wouldn't that...Wouldn't that mean...The end?
With someone immune to fire…They would totally defeat the Fire Tribe! Even the last line of defense wouldn't mean anything to this person!
There was so much fear, that it could be felt. Loralle sneered, as it was, she was saving many people by not exterminating both tribes. They should revere her, bowing down to her!
Letting out a small laugh, Loralle shock her head, she would rather be feared...Then the power, crazy people would leave her alone!
She needed time...To find some answers...All the questions she had, made her scratch her head too much!
Loralle slapped her hand on the ground and the earth started to shake and tremble, as though, even her touch was feared.
The earth around her started to lower, bit by bit...
People on both sides had fallen over, due to the shaking earth, but were looking at the center in complete astonishment.
They noticed that another power was being used but, due to the shock, they didn't question it.
From near too far away, on both sides, from where she was…They stared in utter disbelief.
So much power could be felt through their bodies.
The earth was shaking!
They wondered if the earth was mad at them, that it was cursing their very lives!
It was a new sight to everybody, and some looked in horror, some tried to run, only to fall after a few steps, and a few people even fainted.
The rumbling continued, as a lengthy line of absent earth was formed as far as the eye could see, to both the north and to the south from where they were. The border of the Water and the Fire tribes started to become a big, long hole!
The bottom seemed to become endless, as the earth continued to go even lower!
What both tribes didn't expect, was that the line of the empty earth...Began to expand and go outwards...And got closer to their defenses!
Gasps were heard, and then soon after there was yelling.
"Quick! Run!"
Men on both sides of the borderline started to run away as fast as they could, closer to their own tribal villages in the far distance. But, it was too late for some of them because they had acted too late! They fell into the long hole!
…Loralle stood, to see that men on both sides had now diminished quite few in numbers and their defenses were totally wiped out.
Her plan was not to come here to win the war for the Water Tribe and to defeat the Fire Tribe, she had come here to stop the fighting. She did find herself upset with the loss of lives...But wouldn't it be better now, that the fighting will have to stop? How could they continue with such a large gap between them that seemed endless? Besides that, it was quite a loss of men on both sides, even though some were saved…How could they continue?
Loralle still thought that it was still a better solution than to kill everybody...Especially since she felt that things weren't as they seemed. Until she knew more about what these powers possessed, she couldn't kill everyone...Every person, no matter from what tribe they were from, could be somewhat innocent...They could be victims...
Loralle sighed. She didn't belong to the Water Tribe, as someone at their disposal. A misused toy, someone they had deprived of a normal life. She also didn't belong in the Fire Tribe, who were taught at an early age about fighting and who came across as even less caring then that of the Water Tribe!
Both sides had flaws that she wanted no part of, especially when she was unsure of how to help them at this time. There were too many numbers of them, she had to find a way to help everyone at the same time. But first, she needed to make sure that she was on the right path...
She was going to leave, to find these answers, and to do that, she had to completely scare both sides and stop them from fighting, so to give her some time...
Well, I didn't have to scare them, she thought, it was just an added bonus!
Leaving, to find these answers, seemed quite easy, since she had no attachments anywhere.
Putting her hand back down onto the earth, that was greatly surrounded by air now, Loralle built it to go higher and higher. Once she was out of sight of any other person that was still alive at the border, she walked closer to the clouds, on the earth that continued to make a path for her. It connected to another place, far into the distance, and then she sat and traveled from the big, long, endless hole in the ground and the two tribes...Leaving behind whispers of dread about her power.
***
John, Sam and Rick, that had followed Loralle, were very angry!
They had not foreseen her disappearance!
They knew her power was not weak but had never thought that she would have just made it harder to continue the war! And…She even killed a few of her own tribesmen! The surprise attack was now gone and now a huge bottomless pit prevented further war!
Yet, it was all their leader's doing! What in the world had she been thinking!?
They thought that they had not been on her case enough, that she had too many pleasures of making her own choices. They chastised themselves on not bringing up their leader properly and under their control. And already, she had a full day ahead of them as they had celebrated and gotten drunk the night before!
They had followed her for so long...
Previously, they were traveling in a direction, before they had been called back to the tribe. Their only thought was to head in that direction again, so they set off to catch their leader and to bring her back!
***
As the days and weeks went by, news of the 'Powerful leader of the Water Tribe’ that had ‘disappeared’, was known everywhere within the two tribes. Many things seemed to happen in the tribes and many discussions took place. They were mostly about the power of earth, as all who didn't believe it just had to simply walk to the border to see the bottomless pit…And when they saw the pit, feelings overcame everyone, including the Water Tribesmen, and that was...Disapproval and hate.
The Fire Tribe abandoned any offenses that they had started and completely divulged themselves fully into defense.
They were in fear for their very lives!
Even though this 'Powerful leader' had disappeared, they knew that this person, alone, could totally wipe them all out!
It became such a worry, that people in the Fire Tribe, that were in their legion, started to leave the fight. Others even left the tribe altogether, wanting to save the lives of their families. They knew the pools of magma couldn't even save them, now that someone in the Water Tribe was immune to fire!
Luckily, many others, even with feeling overwhelmed with these new conditions, still stayed. They would state that the ‘Powerful leader’ has gone, so there’s no need to fear!
Once one had happily stated this fact, others tended to carry along and say the same thing, as though it was their idea in the first place! Of course, this rumor started from one of the laziest families within the Fire Tribe…
The Fire Tribe became disorganized and through the leader not knowing how to proceed, the tribe continued that way for quite a few days.

The Water Tribe were quite upset with their new leader. Not only had they disappeared, but their own people were killed due to them!
They also didn't approve of the leader's power to use earth...They all secretly wanted their leader to use only their water power and not any other.
Many questioned the nobles, but they didn't give them any answers. The only sentence that seemed to be said was that, ‘If we are to win this war, we need our leader. We will wait for them to return!’
But, they honestly didn't know how to proceed either, as they were also being conflicted because of the earth power. All they knew was, the leader's immunity to the fire power was essential to winning the war!
As hateful as the idea seemed, they knew that the power their new leader possessed, was all they needed!
With that in mind, most of the people tried to get used to their new lives without war…Until the time they were too reunite with their new leader once again…
What they did do, was send two people out, one to the north and one to the south, to see how long the cracked earth of bottomless pit was…Which had extended around half of the planet...So, they wouldn’t be back anytime soon.
The remainder of the people, still crazed in hate and war, decided to take this break as a sign to plan their next move.
So, the forced cease fire continued, as well as the confusion of the earth power. What changed, was that there were no deaths at the border. It had been a long time since weeks could go past where there wasn't even one death that would occur…

It had been just over three weeks and Loralle finally stepped onto the normal ground, and the earth that had taken her to this place started to fall apart. At that time, some people in the Water Tribe, far off into the distance, didn't understand that not water...But earth was falling from the sky!
That was because Loralle had gone straight over the top of the Water Tribe!
Once a day she had quickly stopped for food, then rode the earth back up to the sky, so to keep out of sight.
Looking around, she found herself satisfied to where she was. She had, indeed, started to come here before she was interrupted. It was the vast, big earth area, on the other side of the tribes. For some time now, Loralle had felt that the power of earth had beckoned her here. It was the same feeling she had felt with the water power a year ago, but this time, it was in a different place. It was obvious to her, now that she was here, that the powers lead you to the respectable places to gain their approval.
Water had led me to water and now the earth has led me here, to the middle of this big, desolate, barren earth wasteland.
She amused herself over that for a moment, thinking that, if there was a Loralle power...Wouldn't they have to come to 'Loralle' to get approval...It really did sound like quite a lot of fun!
After calming down from giggling, she tried to remember what she was doing...
When Loralle had asked the water if she could use its power, if she could get its permission, it had led her to the deep, menacing lake in the middle of the Water Tribe. It was the lake the everyone had surrounded but did not enter...
When she had entered the lake, she wasn't too sure of what it was that she had expected. But, as she took the second step into the lake, everything had changed!
Anyone who may have been watching, would have seen that Loralle would be losing her life to the raging waters in the lake. She even felt like she had been drowning, even with her immunity! She was unable to breath and was continuously pushed in the fast current, that headed towards the centre of the lake. She had spent much of her time under the water, unsure of which way to swim and was running out of breath!
What she had figured out later, was that it was some kind of acknowledgement, or trail, that had to be overcome. The lake had been there all this time, yet people never ventured in for being told that you would lose your life. But in fact, for Loralle, it was the opposite. When she stopped fighting the water, a voice had intruded into her head, "The element known as water accepts you. From now on, you will not know of the water vengeance."
That was all that the voice had said, but, Loralle had felt changes to her powers and to her mind.
It became known to her then, that what people have when using these 'powers' has another 'mystical' feeling that seems to make you want to fight. That if you used a power...There was a restriction, a danger to any other people with any other power. But once that restriction disappeared...For Loralle, her power to wield water suddenly...Doubled!
From then on, Loralle had wondered if earth and fire all had a vengeance too...And why?
Did she feel it too, all this time?
To her, these powers, had become her friends...Her only friends...But to others, are people just puppets for the powers to get at one another? What was the real reason? What was really going on with the elements? Are they perhaps...Fighting? If they are fighting...What would be needed for them to make up and be happy again?
Loralle scratched her head.
Also, after some time, she found another change to her body. She didn’t find herself thirsty anymore and felt that she was somewhat healthier…
She wasn’t exactly sure what being approved to the water element can do to one’s body but there was definitely something different, in a good way!

Now, it was time to be accepted by the earth power, just like she was by the water. Her plan, now that she was out of the Water Tribe, was to even travel to the Fire Tribe and be accepted by the fire power too! Then, she thought, maybe I'll get another power because I got the other powers! That would be great!
Loralle wondered if that would make her too greedy...
Following the now stronger beckoning from the earth power, Loralle had travelled to the middle of the vast earth area, that looked different to the rest of the wasteland. It looked like a mound of fresh, green grass, that was only half as big as the menacing lake. Stepping a few more steps forward, she found herself under rumbling earth. Closing her eyes, she put her trust into the earth and waited for it to talk to her. Another step forward, the rumbling got louder and was heard further and further away.
…If Loralle had opened her eyes, she would had seen that the mound of fresh, green grass was slowly expanding!
Cracks started to split the earth and Loralle fell, feeling herself unable to stand anymore.
A little scared now, she closed her eyes even tighter.
From being accepted by the water power, this was different…It seemed to be a bit more life threatening then before! Was it that for each approval that she wanted, the harder it would become to obtain?
If the raging torrent of water had been scary, then what would earth want to do to me?
Don't be afraid, she told herself, it's just dirt...
Sweat started to form on her forehead, as she fell sideways, and she felt that her leg was trapped. Suddenly...It was darker. Hard earth filled in beside her and she was stuck...
Almost like...Being buried alive!
Her bones were being pushed together, one bone in her arm even broke! Her breathing was getting shorter now, with less air underground, and she felt it to be absolutely terrifying!
The earth was pressing against most of her skin, surely, she would receive bruises all over her whole body!
"The element known as earth accepts you. From now on, you will not know the earth vengeance!" The words were the same, but the voice was different.
Just like at the menacing lake, the water had calmed, now, the earth became soft and moved her back to the surface of the land.
Breathing in and out rapidly, she still could feel herself tremble to what she had just overcome.
Then, Loralle felt the same sensation run through her. Her power had doubled with the power of earth, and her mind was more at ease.
Why do these 'elements' have vengeance? She thought as she started to breath normal again. Maybe, the elements hated people...?
Holding her broken arm in her other arm, she stood and thanked the earth below her, just like she had the water. Even though her whole body ached, she was still thankful to be one step closer to finding answers.
If I am hurt to this extent when accepting only a second element...What kind of problem would I have to overcome to be approved for the third?
Sighing, Loralle knew that she would be better to rest for the time being, as her arm needed to be tended to and she would like to eat.
Her earth house became quite a huge enhancement since her last. She could now even make a two-tier building...The stairs were even good enough to walk on! There was a bed, table and chairs…Even some small beautiful plants…
Loralle was speechless at her own work. And still, after all this time, she said her thanks to the earth.
Looking at her broken arm, she tried her best to put the bones back together and surrounded it by earth, as a bind, then decided to try and sleep.
***
It took longer for her to continue her journey from there because of her broken arm. It prevented her from getting much sleep at first, because of the pain and made things much more difficult, especially in catching food and eating it.
Coming up with new ideas, because of her misfortune, Loralle made good work of her earth power to help her get better. Her food was easily trapped and brought to her without Loralle even leaving her earth house!
Without having to be stuck in this position, she would have never thought of caging her food and bringing it back!
It was also quite lucky that she could see around her, through the earth, as food was scarcer in this desolate earth wasteland.
What was even greater, was that the earth power was quicker now as well!
She may have a broken arm, but her smile was very lively!
Her earth friend just got more powerful and she wanted to pat it on the head! She was sure that was how people showed affection. So…She made an earth 'person' and hugged it...Then ate with it, then slept with it…
You wouldn't have thought that she was injured with her giggles and smiling face!
Before eating, she used an earthen knife with a water sharp blade to skin the food, without even having to touch it...She was extremely grateful, the earth power was just like having another pair of arms!
It was indeed, her most powerful asset!
Having this power made everything easier and tolerable.
Her bruises seemed to have disappeared earlier then she had expected, and she wondered if the water element had done something to her blood…
Nonetheless, it gave her something to ponder on as she rested...And played with her 'friend'.
