Love In Royalty

Prolong

Ring..ring..." please leave a voice message".

Klaus, please call me back when you get this message...I..I..really need you.

Beep beep beep... I watch helplessly as her heart rate slowed down then nothing, just a straight line showing it's the end of her journey.

"I'm sorry Hayley, she's no more." Doctor Simon manages to blabber, at-least that's all I could hear.

I nod in my state of shock.

They say God always takes away the best people but what about the ones left with the loss and sorrow of their departure.

I'd just wished at least on her deathbed my father would have come to visit, even just to say farewell.

"Are you the daughter?" Asked the short nurse, shaking me out of my thoughts.

"Yes.." I answered her weakly.

"Miss Hayley right? please fill this form" she left urgently after handing the form to me as if I was some sort of a criminal.

Ting!

"Come to room 801 Palacetine hotel asap, your boyfriend's in trouble" I couldn't care less about it being an unknown number, all I could read was trouble and boyfriend. My half functioning brain only showed me the worst case scenario. I was mentally and physically worn out from losing my mum, losing someone important again would completely break me apart.

Bang! I kicked the door open, praying he was safe, praying it was just a prank.

I poked my head in slowly then I stopped...I was left utterly shocked...It was the scene I would never forget, the scene that tore me down completely and broke my heart into a million pieces.

Klaus and Ashley were together, ***** in the same bed. His tongue halfway down her throat.

What the F*** are you guys doing?! I screamed jolting them apart.

"What are you doing here!" Klaus hissed.

"Get Lost! You filthy Woman!"

His heartless words rang in my ears as his dark eyes remained piercing right through me.

Fat hot tears tumbled down each side of my cheeks as realisation hit me. Ashley, the step sister who I forgave time and time again believing we'd one day become close. She slowly, but surely took everything away from me. Starting with my father, my home, my friends and now my Klaus. My first love.

"Why would you do this to me, Klaus?!"

"I should be the one asking."

"I don't understand. I have only ever loved you...."

"Well, I don't love you. You hear me. Now get lost and don't ever show me your face again!"

He shouted at me, annoyance clearly written over his face for disturbing their moment of pleasure.

Ashley smirked at me, savouring her victory.

"Please be a little nicer, Klaus. After - all, she is still my sister."

Ashley quickly changed into her meek persona, pretending to sympathise with me. To which Klaus gently caressed her head, looking at her lovingly. The gaze which used to belong only to me.

He shifted his attention towards me, his gaze swiftly changing to that of a devil.

"You don't deserve to be her sister. Both you and your mother can only ever be someone's mistress."

All his fake love and promises flashed before me. His words ripped my heart out, shattering into countless pieces. And, that too at the crucial moment when I had absolutely no one to help me pick it back up. He was supposed to be consoling me, telling me everything will be alright, he will be there for me but what I get instead is his hatred.

"Whatever you say, Klaus..."

I weakly say before leaving out the door. I didn't look back. How could I? I wasn't stupid enough to see the man I love with another women for any longer…

My tears taught me a lesson that day, which I should've learnt many years ago.

Don't ever trust a Man...

Nightmare

Evil laughter surrounded me, cold and alone I kept running in this eerie scene. With no particular destination in mind I ran another 10 miles until a lone shadow of a man blocked my view. He seemed to be in deep thought, lonely even. He was an intriguing being and as if by magnet I was pulled towards him.

As I got closer, his blurred out face became clearer

"Klaus, I love you"

Ashley walked out of the shadows created by the dark looming trees. She hugged him while her sultry voice remained piercing my ears.

As if to inflict me with more pain, he hugged her back. His dark blue - green eyes threw flames towards me and his pearl - white skin glistened in the moonlight, giving him the look of a blood thirsty devil.

Even so, I can't stop loving this man.

My locked up emotions threatened to break free. Wanting to be free from this feeling was like wishing for it to snow in the burning desert.

I remained fixated in my spot, not daring to move an inch because I knew what would follow next.

The night breeze turned violent as the leaves crashed and attacked among themselves.

"Crunch, crunch…" "Rustle, rustle…"

A rustling sound of a faceless being approached me from behind. I dared not look back. It hugged me from my waist and pulled me towards the unknown.

"Klaus, Help me!"

"Please don't let it take me!"

I screamed for help while I struggled to break free. I tried kicking the faceless being behind me but it didn't bulge. It never did.

Ashley held her evil grin and Klaus scoffed, giving me his cold stare instead. He didn't plan to save me anytime soon.

He turned his back and walked away holding Ashley in his arms. Not giving me a second look back.

"Wait! Klaus, don't leave me please. I'm begging you…"

"Klaus!..."

I awoke with a jolt.

Two crystal clear blue eyes staring down at me. Look of worry and concern written on her face.

"Girl, you really need to stop dreaming about your ex, you were screaming his name!" She huffed, trying to lighten my mood.

"The same dream again.." I quietly proceeded to tell her the details.

"So you didn't see his face again?"

"No. I didn't turn around."

"Did he take you anywhere this time?"

"No, I woke up before he could…and why would I want to go with some faceless monster!"

"What if he's a handsome one?"

As usual, she continued with her teasing.

I stayed in the comfort of my bed, enduring her before I was hit with another realisation. A greater nightmare would truly fall on me if I get late.

I jumped out of my bed, frightening Rebecca.

"What time is it?!"

"Uh, 11:30 am"

"Sh*t, sh*t I have an interview at 1!"

I screamed as I ran towards the bathroom.

Luckily, I had already prepared the perfect outfit for my interview. I was finally able to choose the perfect outfit with the result of wasting hours and hours, searching for the perfect job interview outfit on the internet. After reading through many suggestions, I decided to go with a look that read "Simple yet Professional".

I quickly freshened up and put on my pink button-down blouse. I matched it with a high - waisted khaki pencil skirt and added my khaki blazer on top. I slipped on my pair of khaki heels to complete my look.

I looked in the mirror one last time and nodded in satisfaction.

This was perfect. My look read professional yet relaxed and easy-going at the same time.

As they say "First impression is the last impression."

"Wow, you look amazing Hayls, I bet Prince Charming will be too distracted by your looks." she jokingly said and winked at me.

"Thanks, Becca! You do realize he sees beautiful girls everyday day right" I exclaimed, excitement clearly taking over me.

"I know but I bet he has never seen a beauty like you before!" She laughed teasingly.

"Alright, do I really look fine, I didn't overdress right?" I asked worriedly.

"Common Hayls, don't underestimate your beauty. You'd look good even if you wore rags." She said trying to calm me down.

"Thanks, Becca, I feel much better already," I said while giving her my best smile.

Rebecca has been my best friend for over three months. Although the first time I met her was five years ago, in my forgotten past life.

She has been a godsend gift for me when I needed someone the most.

When that tragedy struck three months back I was in a state of self destruction.

None of my family members had bothered to turn up to my mothers funeral, the ones who came were either our neighbours or the people who I didn't know. They consoled me and sympathised with me.

I guess it made me believe in the kindness of strangers.

Sometimes water is thicker than blood.

In my desperate state, I made the decision to move to the big city. Away from all my sorrows.

That's when I met Rebecca again.

It was that fateful windy day.

A pink umbrella came fluttering towards me and knocked me flat on the dirty puddle made by the earlier heavy rain. She had apologized to me and begged me to come to her gigantic apartment. Way too big for a single person.

I had reluctantly agreed back then but when I think about it now, it was probably the best thing that happened to me after a very long time.

Her search for a roommate ended with me and my search for a flat ended with her.

We both enjoyed our win - win situation.

Moving forward we realized how different we both were, yet very similar at the same time which sparked our strong friendship bond.

She took the right of calling me 'Hayls', swearing to remove anyone else who calls me that.

So I nicknamed her 'Becca' which I think matches perfectly with her personality. She is cheerful but she can be quite stuck - up at times.

But I still love her to bits, she's like a sister I wished Ashley could've been.

"Wish me luck!" I shouted before heading out the door.

"You'll do great," Rebecca shouted back.

Exactly at 12:30 pm, my taxi arrived.

I nervously entered and sat in the back seat. My heart thumping and my nervousness reaching its peak height. I was finally getting closer and closer to hopefully my new beginning.

This time Hayley had no idea what sweet treat awaited her, something she would be craving for the rest of her life.

Prince Charming

I was officially on my way to an interview that many girls would kill to get. After attending 6 interviews, the crown prince was going to personally come and choose his personal assistant. There were four other girls. Extremely talented, exceptional looks with the perfect curves in all the right places.

This has made me extremely overwhelmed and intimidated.

From the looks, next to them I wouldn't be able to hold a candle.

Prince Elijah!

Born to the richest royal family in the world, recently crowned the "Crown Prince of X country". The first son of King Edward ll and Queen Celestia, still known as the most beautiful queen of her time. To top it off, he became the people's Prince Charming. Tabloids officially identifies him as the most handsome man and prince in the world.

This was just truly unbelievable that I was going to be meeting the so-called Prince Charming, not to mention I might even be working for him directly very soon. But no matter what, I am determined to get this job.

Living in poverty has encouraged me to fight for what I want. Receiving the top scholarship to the most prestigious University had allowed me to pursue my dream. Becoming a lawyer had been my biggest dream because throughout my life I encountered many unjust and unfair treatments.

Becoming a lawyer would let me fight for justice and help if not myself but others in need.

But my dream fell short right after entering University. Ashley tried every means to get me expelled and she succeeded. I had blindly trusted and truly believed that she had finally accepted me as her sister but I'd been the biggest fool of all time. Feeling dismayed with a heavy heart, I was forced to return back to my small town. Mother had cried for days looking even more depressed than me. For her, I joined the local college and took business as my major and finance as my minor. Through my tough time, Klaus had been there to cheer me up, he had suddenly appeared like a knight in shining armor. He had been my biggest support.

Later coming to realize he was just a perfect storm.

"Ma'am, we've arrived," the taxi driver said, bringing me back from my thoughts.

"Thanks" I replied, handing him the money.

I step out and look above me. Dazed.

The magnificent state of affairs building of the royal family stood tall and aloof.

I'm left overawed each time I arrive here for my interview.

It stands at a height of more than 300 feet tall, making it the tallest building in the city and even one of the tallest in the country excluding the extravagant royal families castle. Outside of the building holds the illusion of glass material. It looks as if the whole building is made out of glass.

But in reality, this is one of the strongest buildings around. Through my online research I was able to find the structure was made using iron and steel. The glasses used were float glass which is the strongest around.

It was supposedly made in a way where the outside view would be clear but impossible to see through from the outside. This was attained by applying a mirrored film, mostly to keep privacy.

My guess is, it might even be bulletproof but there was no mention of it.

The building is shaped, made in perfect dimensions meaning that it would be close to impossible to collapse.

It holds a total of 30 floors. Each floor includes at-least 10 offices, 10 conference rooms, more than 20 extra rooms for staff, balcony, and cafes.

Prince Elijah's office is stationed on the top floor and rumor has it, he even has his own private bar up there.

Today will be the first time I'll be entering the top floor making me feel excited yet anxious at the same time.

I walk towards the big sliding door made of glass and scan my card. I watched as the big door opened and revealed a dazzling scene. I walked towards the sophisticated receptionist and gave her my information.

"Wait in the 20th floor 2nd waiting room, someone will come to get you.'' She said poshly before getting back to dealing with phone calls straight away.

"Thank you" I replied and headed towards the enormous elevator also made out of glass.

I stepped inside and pressed floor 20 with my shaky fingers.

The elevator has a shield of steel bars hovering around and it's floor is plated with gorgeous white marble. The side walls intacted with glasses so one could enjoy the view while going up.

Soon the elevator slowly lifted up to reveal the stunning city outside. I was awestruck the higher it went.

Ting! It finally came to a stop before the door automatically opened.

I walked towards room 2 waiting room.

I was easily able to find it as this was my 7th time being here but this is the most nervous I've felt.

I quietly pushed open the door where the three other girls were already there looking sophisticated. When I entered they acted as if they hadn't seen me. I quickly went in and sat next to them, it was clear from one look at them that they were all born from rich and noble families.

There were originally 50 girls selected and each day many of them had been eliminated and today was the final round with only 4 girls left.

Prince Elijah will be personally coming to choose one of us as his Personal assistant.

At exactly 1 pm a tall man wearing a black suit and glasses entered the room. He carried the gentlest smile, which elevated his good looks.

"Hello girls, I'm Prince Elijah's Butler. You can call me Robert" he introduced himself.

Robert: "please follow me"

"Yes," we replied in unison.

He walked us towards the private Elevator and took us to the top floor.

Ting!

The door slowly slid open.

We were faced with the most elegant and magnificent hallway. On each side of the wall hung the paintings of the royal family. It started out with the king and queen and moved on to when the Princes were young. I stopped on one specific painting, it was the smallest one yet definitely one of the most beautiful. There were three extremely adorable young Prince's instead of two.

The little boy on the left looked awfully familiar but I couldn't pinpoint it from my memory.

I shook my head a little, I mean it was impossible, how can he possibly be a Prince. There was no way.

We were asked to wait in the closest waiting room from Prince Elijah's office. We patiently waited for him to call us in.

Soon after, each lady was given instructions on when we'd be called in and as always I was last in the list.

The interviews were swift but all the ladies before me looked as if they came out of a horror movie after their interviews.

The more I waited the more anxious I grew.

The third lady's eyes even looked red, I could tell she had been crying inside.

"What kind of monster is he, making women cry," I thought.

"Miss Hayley, please." Robert said.

I gave him a slight nod and a smile before slowly getting up. I walked towards the Prince's office carried by my trembling legs, almost tripping on my own.

"3, 2, 1…" I counted in my head, trying to give myself more courage.

I slowly raised my hands and knocked twice and waited for his reply.

"Come in." Came a deep, dark and a very very attractive voice.
