Shuàigē was born into poverty, though his grandfather could not afford to pay for many things the two seemed very happy. Shuàigē grew up playing with the boys and girls as even from a young age he looked like a girl. It was hard for him as some bullied him for looking like a girl.
As he grew older he slowly hid his face, his grandfather gave him a veiled hat to hide himself away from the world around him. In his teens he began to clean the house, collect water and cook as he was too weak to work in the field. His grandfather would leave for work at dawn and return at dusk working for hours so the two could eat some rice.
Shuàigē hid his face and it became a normal thing, the people of the village accepted him and how he was. As he got older into his teen years he had to separate himself from both the females and males as he was too pretty for the men and obviously a male for the woman. He was between the two, which caused more bullying more so with the girls than with anyone else “show us why the boys like you so much” one would say, they have come close to removing his veil. Luckily he had one friend who has stayed by his side all his life…well two Kuaisu “come now ladies is that any way to treat someone” he would say which often got the girls to blush from embarrassment. “Do not worry Shū we will take care of them” wolf spoke as she smiled her ‘I will fill their beds with pig mud’ type of smile. The three have been friends since they were kids. Wold always a tomboy and Kuaisu a flirt leaving the shy feminine Shuàigē to himself often.
“Alright…now that we are along let’s talk about-“
”Don’t say the-“
”Prince festival” Wolf and Kuaisu spoke in unison. Wolf hated the Prince Festival as she had to dress pretty and wear makeup, her mother wanted her to marry but it was clear she was not interested. Kuaisu enjoyed it as he could flirt with pretty woman and prove his strength to the Princes if he got the opportunity. Shuàigē often spent his time at home as that day was the only day he could spend a full day with his grandfather, and help with the food stalls. He was surprisingly a really good cook. “come one you two you promised you would come this year” Kuaisu spoke in annoyance as he crossed his arms and looked towards the two walking backwards. “Yes, yes and we will be there” Wolf spoke with a sigh before looking at Shuàigē “Are you okay with going to the festival?” She asked kindly as she looked at him “Make sure to wear your hat tightly, I will give you one of my dresses…you are small enough to fit” she poked him softly as she spoke before Kuaisu pinched her cheek “Do not touch the pretty princess” he joked, when they were younger Shuàigē was always the princess even though Wolf was female she preferred dressing like a boy and playing like she was a great cultivar. “So it is settled?”
”Yes…we all will meet by the bridge in town where the river flows under. We will go have fun”
”Tomorrow” Shuàigē spoke sweetly as he smiled behind the veil. The three nodded and departed for their homes.
The river that ran through the village was the main source of water and often the children of the villagers would go there and collect water and socialize.
"Now remember Shū move fast and swiftly I was told it was going to rain today and I don't want you being swept away" Shuàigē's grandfather said smiling and handing him a wooden bucket "I will don't worry, and why do you keep calling me that name I'm not a book" he laughed, his grandfather often called him Shū meaning book "because you always bury yourself in the old incantation books I have" the grandfather smiled. Shuàigē never knew the name of his grandfather and never asked for he never wanted to know.
He walked quickly out of his broken down small wooden home and headed for the river, the girls often rolled their eyes and gossiped about him, the boys were different they would talk to him and be friendly to him, "hay Shū!" Kuaisu yelled while running with a bucket in his hands, Kuasiu also known as fast he was named that because he was the fastest of all the boys he is often used for quick errands.
He ran past everyone and slowed down so that he was walking next to Shuàigē "so...who do you think?" Kuaisu wrapped his arm around him and looked around "what do you mean?" He looked at Kuasiu "who should I ask to go to the festival with? It's coming soon you know" his long brown hair tied up and a messy bun two pieces of hair fell on either the sides of his cheeks "well what's your type?" Shuàigē asked pulling his hat down so it covered his face more "sweet, pretty, kind, pretty" Kuasiu winked at a group of girls "well then ask out piaoliang her name means pretty" he said looking at her, she looked back at him and rolled her eyes then waved flirtatiously at Kuaisu "well she's pretty but she is mean" Kuaisu sighed annoyed.
They all made their way to the river and as they got there it began to rain so everyone began to rush and head back the boys helping the girls and the girls acting pathetic well some of the girls. Shuàigē collected water and smiled "a lotus flower so close to winter what an odd sight" he said to himself as he picked it up and smiled then placed it back down, it floated down the stream as the rain hit the flower, the flower staying strong.
"Goodluck is on our side" he smiled looking up as the rain hit his silk veil.
Shuàigē sat gently as his fingers gently played with the water, he closed his eyes as the water around his fingers gently glowed “Is there a future you wish to share with me?” Shuàigē’s voice gentle and kind as the water began to glow gently.
The water glowed immensely before an image was shown. An image of Shuàigē shrouded in darkness and lust “so odd” he spoke softly as his slender fingers changed the movement of the water as she image disappeared “n-no” he was too weak to hold the image. He sighed softly and sat back “what to do”
