He felt the sun's warmth in his skin. The sweet smells of different flowers filled his nostril. With the smell becoming more prominent along with the chirping, Aki thought to himself;

"Aah, this is nice~", he was still half asleep to process what was going on around him.

"Waking up to the birds, the nice smell..... and sun"

Grass brushing against  his cheeks, a cool breeze making  it dance along, had Aki lazily open his eyes.

"Huh....?"

Still processing.

"Birds? Flowers? Sun? In my room?!"

Realising neither of those three was what he would normally wake up to, Aki's startled.

His eyes dazzled by the bright light as he tried opening them. Aki sits up, his right hand, over his head trying to barricade against the sun. His left hand was on the grassy field providing him with the support he needed to sit upright.

Slowly his eyes adjust to the bright outside. He could finally  see where he was.

It was definitely not his room. Instead he found himself in the middle of the field far away from any known settlement.

The field itself was unlike any he had seen before. It was filled with deep blue flowers.

There were glitters of white flowers among them. It naturally  complimented the natural blue heu of the sky, which turned purple further towards the horizon.

The field on its own seemed endless as it stretched towards the horizon.

Aki sat there, speechless, stunning by the beauty of the place, he forgets everything else.

The blue sky with fluffy clouds was tinted by the golden sun, it seemed to be glittering, sparkling.

Despite the seemingly endless field, there was a peculiar lack of trees around. Yet the chirping of birds didn't stop, in fact it felt to be coming from somewhere nearby. Though he couldn't see them, their clatter was loud and clear.

Aki slowly stands up now, wanting to explore the area, he ended up in.

It felt more like a dream to him as the view was nothing less than surreal.

"Is this what they call lucid dreaming?", he concluded, as he is still aware. And it truly didn't feel like a Normal dream, it was too real.

The cold wind he felt on his bare skin, Aki Couldn't  help but stretch his arms and take a deep breath. The fresh air he inhaled  carried the sweet  smell of flowers.

And the wind carried the sound of Wind chime

But there wasn't supposed to be anything around to produce the sound. That inmind Aki starts looking around trying to find the source of the sound.

Looking around, at a distance  he saw a shrine, a small Red shrine. It definitely  wasn't there a minute ago. But given it was a dream to Aki, he was just curious about it more than anything.

Wanting to inquire about it more, Aki starts walking towards it. It was then that he noticed someone in front of the shrine.

He seemed to be kneeling in front of the shrine.

That person too, wore a bright red robe that stood out under the deep blue sky the robe was dancing  with the wind along with the guys long black hair. It managed to reveal the person's  face.

It was painted with a sad expression. He sat there along, with his look of grief and loneliness. It, for some reason, made Aki feel dejected.

Still walking towards him, Aki's  eyes were fixed by the guy. So it took him a while to notice, no matter how much he walked, the distance between them never seemed to change .

Slowly, his legs started to get heavy, as though the air itself had become as dense as honey.

The chirping and humming dulled down under the struggle. Instead  the sound was replaced by his ears ringing. His breath grew heavy and his lungs too started  to hurt. He struggled to even lift his legs.

Irritated by the sudden change, Aki in anger exclaims;

"Agh.... this is so annoying !!!"

He finally stops. Aki stood still to catch his breath. He hadn't got a chance  when he heard a voice from behind;

"It is, isn't it?", the voice said referring to Aki's comment.

Startled by the voice yelps "aaaaah...." before composing  himself. The voice didn't seem familiar to him. And though it sounded sweet and kind, Aki has seen enough horror movies to know what horror might be standing behind him.

He slowly turns around, his heart ready to jump out of his throat. Aki was remembering  all the Gods he knew, praying  for their protection.

Aki's hand was brought up to his chest as he finally laid eyes on the source  of the voice.

Behind him , casually floating, was a beautiful woman. She had sakura( cherry blossom) pink hair. Her big bright beautiful eyes were of the colour of the flowers. Her pink lip was curled in a smile. Her slightly tanned skin complimented her slightly red cheeks.

Though her expressing itself was that of a loving mother, all-caring and all-loving look wouldn't sound any bell. Normally it wouldn't, but right there wasn't normal.

In front of Aki the kind looking woman was floating.

The fact that her legs were nowhere near the ground, had Aki's blood run cold.

Rightfully scared Aki manages to not run away. It was to say his legs were glued in place out of fear.

Still gathering courage Aki in a sheepish voice asks;

"Wh...who are you ?" His hands were still close to his chest not clasped together.

To the woman looking down on Aki, he appeared like a scared little rabbit, given he stood no more than 5ft 3" in height.

She chuckles a little and says;

"ahaha...  don't be scared"

She then floats down towards Aki, coming a little too close, then introduces herself;

" I'm Maya..."

Aki was stunned. Though he was still a little scared, Maya's beauty had him speechless.

Aki's thought process is unknown when he comes to the following  conclusion;

" Could this be...that?..."

He said shyly, gazing at the beauty.

"  That?", Maya confused as to what aki was talking about.

" What do you mean?", she added.

Now looking flustered for some reason Aki looks away and mutters;

" you know, the type of dream guys have when they are coming of age..."

It took Maya a while to understand wha Aki was talking about.

" Huh?", Maya slowly understands. "Huhh?huhhhhhhhhhhhhh?!"

She knew what he meant. " wha- ... what-.... wait wait wait ...."

Before she could finish, Aki said something else;

"Aaahhhhh... I never knew I was into old hags..."

Maya sighs and then continues;

"Like i was saying...... huh?!", she stopped mid sentence,  " what did you call me?"

Her eyes twitched a little.

Aki was still in his own mindset, not noticing the anger brewing in Maya, he continued;

"I thought I was into girls my age not ... OLD H-"

" WHO DID YOU CALL A OLD HAG AN OLD HAG?!", she bursts out in anger.

" I will kill you you freaking brat".

In anger she hits Aki hard on his head .

"OWW OWW OWW..... IT HURTS"

Aki kneels down holding his head in pain.

" Huh? Why does it hurt?"

"I just hit you, so of course  it hurts ", Maya said raising her brow. She brings her hand and rests it on her hip.

Feeling a little drained, Maya let out a sigh of exhaustion.

"My word, what Is wrong with kids these days...",Maya remarked.

   Aki, now starting to think properly, says;

" soo... this isn't a dream.?"

To him everything that happened or was happening, all of it felt like a dream. There was no reason for him to think otherwise.

     But now that he was hit and was able to experience pain, it became painfully clear that he wasn't dreaming.

"Ah ah ~~~ I see why one would think that..

But no kiddo this ain't no dreamland...", Maya said, half expecting Aki to freak out next.

Instead, Aki still acted weird. He brought his right hand up to his chin, rubbing it as though deep in thought.

" hmmmm....", he starts; " I thought it was weird..".

Aki stopped, prompting Maya to ask;

  "What are you talking about now?"

Aki still deep in thought continues;

" I thought it was weird for me to have this dream.... there's  no way my brain can come up with this stuff..."

Weirdly he starts laughing, and then stands up.

" so .... who are you? "

Maya manages to barely wipe off the expression of utter confusion. She half fakes a smile and says;

" like I was saying..... I am Maya and I'm here to grant your wish~~"

What followed was a long unbearably awkward silence, where  both parties said nothing.

The silence was then broken as Aki opened his mouth to say something;

"I.... I'm.... ", he fumbled.

His face was completely  flustered, his cheeks red, Aki shyly averts eye contact;

" I'm not prepared for that yet..."

He said.

Maya too felt flustered this time around;

" get your head out of the Gutter ....... geeeeez is that all you think about ....."

Aki laughs again, confusing  Maya even more.

"Ahahahah sorry .... I meant that as a joke~"

"Well it wasn't funny.... ", Maya yells holding out her pissed ready to punch again. She clearly didn't find it funny.

" sorry I'll work on my jokes..",he mutters,  scared of getting hit.

Maya:" let's get back to the topic.... soo ...

Do you remember what you wished for a few days ago?"

As Maya says that, literally a hundred of wishes went through his head. Aki had always been an impulsive person. Wishing for things he wouldn't actually want it to come true.

So her words brew a sense of worry in Aki.

"Umm.... soo.... you haven't... killed anyone yet have you ?", Aki said. His voice reflected his worry.

Maya:"Huh? What ? Why would I ?"

"If not that", he felt relieved knowing no one had died cause of him. So now the worry had faded into excitement;

"And I can't seem to be able to fly... don't tell me , Am I finally rich? Or did I get a cool pet..... or or or Am I going to the anime world . . Is it ONE PIECE? "

His excitement was boundless. His head was racing to recall all the wishes he had ever wished for.

Aki Couldn't contain the excitement as it showed clearly on his face.

Maya:" Aah kids these days .... can't you think of something more realistic..."

Maya sighs again, totally tired of the kid in front of her.

Aki:" More realistic?"

Maya:" Yeah like a wish to spend the rest of your life without having to work or you can wish to never have to study again."

Aki :" Huh?  That's why I wished for money .... and just so you know I like to study OK..  you are a weird one you know that."

Maya was dismayed wondering what that even meant. She was weird? How so? She couldn't  understand. To She Aki was more weird than anyone else.

    Maya:" Hmm you think so..." She says not wanting to argue with him.

" well I say that cause I'm here to fulfill those wishes... I brought you here so I can send you to a world where you don't have to worry about your studies, you won't have to worry about classes and school or jobs even earning. Don't you think I will be fun? "

Aki, trying to comprehend, says;

"Another world?! Is this some kind of plot for an anime or something. Though not  having to worry about classes and stuff sounds cool..."

Aki has a displeased expression as he says, " But I'll have to refuse."

Shocked, as Aki might have been the first one to refuse her offer.

Maya:" Huh? What?"

Aki:" like I said, I refuse.... I don't wanna go to such a place... I like the way things are and I am pretty  sure I can manage the future too."

Maya was definitely taken aback his words. Still something worried her.

She let's out a sigh  and then says;

"Well that's too bad."

"What do you mean?", confused by what Maya had said, Aki asked.

"You see, since you come here, you can't go back to your world."

Aki;" What? Why?"

Maya;" Well among alots of things, the main problem is you are dead in your world.... but now they must have already burned your body."

Aki's eyes widen in shock. It didn't made any sense  to him. It had only been a few hours at most since his eyes opened here.

"That can't be...", shook, Aki Couldn't manage any more words.

Maya continues talking,"it has been a few days since you died. I can show you what happened while you were here if you don't believe me."

His head was spinning. Aki Couldn't grasp what Maya had just said. He felt alive and well. He couldn't understand how he can be dead, specially since he felt so alive.

Maya:" Do you want to see it?"

Aki's head felt heavy. He couldn't think straight. A thousand of thoughts wend through his head. He nobs his head half-heartedly.

So Maya waves her hand around, and a mysterious mist appeared infront of him. In it  Aki could see his family.

They seemed to have found Aki dead on the bed. His body was cold, so there was no reviving him.

    They were heartbroken and holding his funeral was especially hard for them.

His father, mother and his two older brothers, were all in tears. It made Aki tear up too. So see his family sad and crying for him, Aki was seconds  away from crying.

But the sentiment didn't last long. As his family seem to have moved on. They were back to normal.

He saw is mother saying; " Well it is what it is. Where ever he is I bet he is happy so we should be happy too."

"Huh? That easy..... I mean you are right but ..... Still.... isn't it too early to have moved one.... ", Aki blurs out.

He felt relieved that they weren't sad any more, but Aki wanted them to atleast  moan his death a little more.

Akis head hung low after everything he saw.

Maya felt alittlt sad so she tries to comfort him.

" umm.. are you OK?", her voice showed her empathy.

"Yeah yeah... I'm fine... since I can't go back, there's no helping it, right?", Aki had being gathering his thoughts and so he says;

     "I'll do it...."

"Hahaha that's more like it~~"

I actually always liked writing stories but never uploaded any. so this time I finally decided to share with u all one of my personal favourite story.

to be honest I'm testing the water with this one so I would appreciate any feedback.

And I tried drawing of the scene from today's chapter... can you guess which one....

(I forgot blue flowers ,didn't I? ahah😅😅)

"So where am I going?", Aki asked

" Ah I can't tell you that~~ hehe "  though Maya was trying to sell her smile as a kind one, there was a hint of suspicion that didn't hide from Aki.

" What? Why?", he felt weird about it. Not wanting to trust Maya's smile." And WHY are you smiling like that?"

Dismayed at his comment, Maya couldn't  help but ask;

"Huh? What's wrong with my smile?"

"It looks really suspicious.... but nevermind that, why can you not tell me where I'm going ?"

"Well that's  cause, it's a surprise... you will know when you will get there." ,Maya still has the same smile on. The distrustful smile, it was starting to creep him now.

"Then atleast tell me what I'm supposed to do there?"

Maya:" ahaha, that's for you to figure out too.... " She laughed for some reason.

Aki Couldn't believe her at all. Was she for real.

"Then why did you even brought me here? Was it even necessary at all or are you just that bad at this?"

Maya:"shut up, will you! I have never done this before so I made a few mistakes."

Aki had a frown on, clearly showing his disbelief and distrust in Maya. He definitely had a mindful to say, but he stops himself from saying anything else.

Instead all he said was;

" you are really stupid, aren't you? "

That comment flustered Maya alittle more than it should  have. Even if she didn't want to admit it, it was somewhat on point. Or at the very least she felt that way.

Her face was as red as a tomato when she yelps;

"SHUT UP...", she waved her had while continuing, "And leave already"

With that Aki started fading slowly. It freaked him out as he still wasn't prepared

"Huh?HuHh? HUHHHHHHHH? Alreadyyy??!wai... wait a minut-"

Suddenly  the bright and peaceful morning sky turns dark. The calm and surreal plain was replaced with darkness ctoo, as his eyes hadn't adjusted to the sudden darkness. The tranquil chirping of the birds was replaced by buzzing of different inscets.

It was almost deafening to him as he never knew cricket like bugs could be so loud. It was nothing like he had ever seen before.

Totally different from the city noises. The sounds of crickets and bugs were least of this worries, as he could clearly hear growls, grunts and roars.

  As his eyes started adjusting to the darkness, Aki could see trees that covered the whole area. Unlike the plain he was in before, here he could see nothing but trees, in the minimum light the place was getting.

    "Trees?", Aki mummers, still disoriented from before.

There were weeds and plants all around him, that seemed to stand taller than him.

Before Aki could oriente himself, what light present dissappears too.

The place was cast into pitch black darkness.

Now, Aki had never been the bravest person, specially when it came to: the Dark, insects and snakes.

And as it turned dark, in the place he concluded to a forest, all three of those found him. As he felt something slithering around his legs.

Aki wasn't really wearing a forest friendly dressing. He was in his pajamas that he wore before going to sleep. It failed to cover nothing more than half of his thighs.

His tank top like tshirst shield  nothing not even the cold.

On top of being grossly underdressed to be in the forest, Aki was bearfoot.

So when he felt something slithering, it was directly in contact with is skin.

Aki didn't wait to find out what it was on his leg, as he kicks it without even looking and starts running in the opposite.

All the while thinking, cursing Maya;

" that old haggggg.... that stupid old hag.... I hate you ...."

Scared and creeped out, Aki's eyes filled with tears. But his still didn't stop running or cursing Maya

When he did eventually  stop to catch his breath, it was near what seemed like a perfectly normal tree.

He slowly leans on the tree to rest a little,  and that cause a vibration to course through the tree.

As he started catching his breath, it started to rain a little, or atleast  it sounded  like rain.

The pit-pat sound of water hitting the ground and the dead leaves. It was peaceful until the rain started falling on Aki.

The drops didn't felt wet like water, it was cold but not wet. And what more, the rain drop started crawling on his skin. It felt itchy everywhere the rain fell, so to inquire Aki tries to catch one of the crawling rain.

It was only when he looked closely at it that Aki realised, that the sound he thought to be rain was actually bugs and worms, raining down the tree.

It was the sound of them falling on the ground and the dead leaves.

Instantly chills went down his spine, and Aki Couldn't help but let out a scream.

He has never been able to stand insects, and now that it was crawling  on his body, Aki was close to crying.

Still keeping himself together, Aki brushing the bugs off himself. Getting away from the tree he starts running away, now cursing Maya more than ever.

This time when he started running, he didn't stop at all. He blindly kept running.

Tears filled his eyes, as he kept running and running. His chest started hurting and he was running out of breath. Yet he didn't dare to stop. He just blindly kept running without any idea  about where he might end up.

He kept running until his legs gave out, and Aki falls face first on the ground. Luckily nothing seemed to be broken when he sat up. And only his throat felt like it was burning from trying to hold back his cry.

He felt like sobbing, but again he contained himself.

He stood up, this time to observe where he was. Aki knew he wouldn't last long in that jungle, he knew he had to get out of there. Yet when he did, he found himself in a much denser part of the forest. It felt untouched by human civilization. Aki could barely see the already darkened sky.

Up until now Aki had been holding himself back. He knew he was too old for tears so he tried saying strong. But when he found himself in the denser part of the forest, his reason, his courage, all of it just left Aki.

                       *Sob*

Feeling like a lost kid, Aki starts crying. He squads on the ground as his leg gave out again.

" Aaah that ... freaking idiot... OLD hag...."

Aki yells throught his sobs.

"You know..", a familiar voice rang through the forest, that continued taking," its not very nice to call others 'old hag' behind their back." Her voice kind yet taunting. Aki instantly  knew who it was.

"Do you want to get Hit again?", she said.

"Maya-san~~~~", Aki looks around  to find Maya ina semi translucent form. She had her form but was see-through. Normally, aki works question her about it, but right then he had too much on his plate to worry about her form.

" help meeee will ya~~", Aki pleaded

Maya stares at him for a little too long. Her face had a smile one, which Aki finally had the time to see. Though she was smiling, she looked pissed.

Maya:" Hmm that was what I came here for... but seeing how you think of me as nothing but an old dumb hag.. I changed my mind."

Aki was left dumbfounded. He didn't really meant what he said. Infact he only said that cause he was angry.

"Ah... that's .... I'm sorry about-"

Before Aki  could finish talking, Maya dissappears.

As she did, she says something else;

"Survive this night and I'll help you out"

Aki;

"Huh?"

"Huhhhhhhhhhhhhh?!!"

At the crack of dawn, a rather worn out and exhausted Aki stepped into the clearing of the forest.

Last night was the longest night Aki ever had to spent. The whole night, Aki didn't a single break, hence it became the worst experience of his life. Getting rest, sleeping was least of this worries. Aki knew how lucky he was just to be alive.

That night he got to meet more animals than he had ever seen any of the zoos. As he stood there, in the clearing, Aki was blank. He was too tired to be angry or be sad. He was too tired to even stand.

His sky blue hair had leaves stuck in them, his clothes were tattered. He was cover in mud and dirt.

Though Aki hadn't noticed, the bugs from last night has hitchhikered with him. Only when he falls on the ground, tired, that the guys, the bugs fell off of him.

Aki saw them crawling right infront of him, yet for some reason he felt nothing. Amazing hoe only one night in a dense forest was enough to get rid of his fear of insects.

Finally, finding a little peace, Aki was about to fall asleep on the ground right there, when he heard someone;

"Aaaah ... I guess you actually survived~~"

The familiar voice felt like music to Aki's ears.

"Maya!!", Aki exclaims with a burst of energy. His face had a smile of relief, that slowly  turned to sadness. He starts sobbing again.

"You...", Aki says through sobs, "you are really heartless, you know that.... how "

*sob* " how could you just leave me like that..."

Maya felt alittle guilty, seeing Aki cry like that.

" you say that but I'm here to help you, Am I not?", Maya says, then proceed to explain, " And yesterday, you brought it upon yourself."

She pouts a little, as she continued,"... calling me names...."

Aki did understand  he was being a little too rude yesterday day, there while he still had time, Aki apologies.

Maya:" As long as you understand..."

Her pout was replaced by a soft smile. She was no longer angey with Aki.

So Maya finally decides to help him out.

Maya:" As agreed, I will help you out... ", she said. "For now stay where you are, don't move a single muscle and some people will be here to find you. They will take you where you need to be."

After everything that had happened, Aki had grew wary of Maya's word. As in he couldn't seem to be able to trust her. Especially since it sounded to easy.

So to make sure he wasn't walking into any unknown trap, Aki questions her;

Aki:" Do I not need to tell them anything? Do I need to do something? And .. and how will I even know who they are?"

Aki was expecting, if not a guide then atleast a description of the said person.

But instead what he got from Maya was;

"Ahhhh too many questions...", she exclaimed, " let's see.... they will be the first person that comes out here... .... and ..... all you need to do is try not to get killed."

Aki was deep in in thought, so it too time to register;

" Hmm is that al-", it finally hit him, " Huh? Killed? As in killed by them? No way ... Will I be in trouble-"

Aki looked at Maya. She seemed to have a weird expression on. Aki felt like he had seen the expression before, maybe it was the expression  of excitement he would see on his mother when she had something exciting going on.

    " ehehe.Well, that's all. I'm gonna leave now."

She chuckled before disappearing again.

Aki was at dismay. He couldn't help but think;

"Just what is wrong with her?", He thought, not daring to say it out loud.

After Maya had left, Aki had nothing else to do but wait just as Maya said.

But for some reason, Aki didn't want to follow  Maya's words. Maybe it was because of what she had said before leaving.

Aki just didn't what to wait up for someone who might actually kill him. He didn't want to stay, so deciding to leave, Aki stands up.

His legs were hurting like crazy. It made it hard for Aki to walk properly. Yet he drags himself to the other end of the clearing.

    "I won't wait here, just to be killed, humph what do you take me for, a fool? I am not going to be your plaything anymore ....", Aki was thinking to himself as he stepped into the forest.

As he took a step forward, he felt like he had stepped on something cylindrical, like a pipe of some sort. On top of felling warm it felt alive too.

Aki looks down, confused. What he saw made his skin crawl. Beneath his foot was a thick fat snake.

Instantly Aki squealed in fear.

"Nevermindnevermindneverming.... I'm fine being a plaything, ... and it's not like she said I'll actually  be killed.... she just gave me a warning.... I should her word for it and just wait... "

He returned to where he was sitting, now having made his mind.

                                ****

More than half a day goes by, as Aki sat there waiting diligently. Even when the sun hovered  over his head Aki didn't move. It did make him feel stupid to follow Maya's word so closely.

Aki: " aaaaaaah so hungry....." aki hadn't eaten anything for almost a whole day.

"So thirsty toooo ...... when is it going to happen.... "

The sun was setting already. The sky had turns orange, with the colour of the sun. The clouds looked amazing, reflecting the orange hue.

It had Aki mesmerised, yet had him reflect up on his life choices, that might have contributed in him ending up there.

It was then that Aki heard rustling in the bushes behind him.

Aki turns towards the source of the noise. There were mix of emotion with him, as he thought the person maya had told him about was there.

His heart was racing, his hands were trembling.

As the tension grew, and the sound seem to draw closer, Akis heart beat became faster too...

And when something jumped out of there, his heart, too, almost jumped out of his throat.

To Aki's utter shock, infront of him, had jumped out a small fluffy rabbit. It approached Aki, whose legs had gave out.

He kneels, and picks up the white rabbit. It's red eyes were glues to the bush, from where a fluf of rabbit follows.

They all circle behind Aki, reminding him of cotton candy. His hunger grew, while he wondered if he could eat one of the rabbit.

Quickly discarding the thought, despite his growling stomach, Aki started thinking of something else.

The rabbit seemed scared, they were trembling too, as though scared of something.

It had Aki wonder, what they feared.

He looks towards the bush, where another rustling came from.

Aki was expecting to see more rabbits, but what he saw was a pair of golden yellow eyes.

There were fixed at Aki, who was paralysed in fear. Out came a tiger slowly sneaking towards them.

Aki now knew what the rabbits were scared of.

As the tiger, stalking came towards him, Aki tries backing away. Yet his legs failed to cooperate.

There was a sharp pain in his feet that wasn't there before. But Aki didn't dare to look away from the tiger.

Aki thought to himself;

" is this what She was warning me about?"

Akis throat was so dry, he couldn't yelp at this point. His body was too tired to cooperate with him, Aki Couldn't  even runaway.

So when the tiger jumped towards him, all he could do was, clutch the rabbit close in his arm and close his tears-filled eyes.

    He accepted his fate.
