The weather forecast was horribly wrong!
It rained cats and dogs that night, caging the staff of the Ivanka classical Music studio
Samantha
Where the hell do you think you're going Brooks???
Brooks
I'm getting out of this storm and getting home
Samantha
I think the storm is a bit too heavy for you to be going out, and without an umbrella too😟
Samantha
Stay here and wait it out with us
Brooks
Thanks a lot, but I have a show to record
Brooks
A little rain wouldn't hurt anyone
Without sparing a second, Brooks dashed out of the studio, using her blue bag as an umbrella
she looked around and noticed everyone was either sheltered under a building together or sharing an umbrella
The winds grew stronger and almost blew her short brown skirt up
Brooks
Maybe watching the BACHELOR could wait?
As she was about to take a step, a black cat ran underneath her, just waiting to be stepped on!
She turned her foot to try and manuver her way, but ended up losing her balance
Before she knew it, she was flying off the sidewalk and unto the busy streets!
A strong pair of arms gripped her steadily and balanced her feet on the sidewalk
The heavy downpour suddenly stopped, as though something was blocking the rain from hitting her skin
She looked up to see an umbrella shielding her from the rain but that wasn't the only thing that caught her gaze...

Brooks couldn't believe she was out here arguing with a man who was just being nice to her.

I always visit with my co-workers and trust me they serve the best lattes

They both arrived at the Cafe and took seats next to the window, far from any disturbance
There, they sat and talked for over thirty minutes, enjoying each other's company
Time ran so fast, that Brooks didn't realise she hadn't recorded her favorite show!

I have to get going

But it's still raining outside...

I think it's calmed down a bit don't you?

You can use my umbrella if you really need to leave
Brooks could see the conflicted look on the stranger's face and suddenly felt reluctant to leave
She knew she had three choices to make
A: Run out into the rain with his umbrella and get home
B: Wait out the rain at the cafe with some good company
C: Take him up on his offer to drive her home tonight

He cocked a grin at her and sipped from his coffee in the most sexy manner

Don't get me wrong, I love my instrument and I love music. But that place is sort of a buzz kill

If you don't like it there, then why bother staying?

Come on, we're both adults, I can't just up and leave. I worked with them for three years now, it would just be ungrateful

Brooks didn't like how he took her job so lightly and slapped the bill on their table

This was a mistake!
Brooks stood up to leave but was held back by the stranger, who had an apologetic look on his face.

Brooks could see just how hard he was trying so she decided to stay back

The rain outside suddenly stopped, much to Brooks distaste

It's stopped raining

Well what are we going to do about that?

Let's keep our identities a secret for now, if we ever meet again I owe you a cup of coffee

Fine then, you're on!
Both of them got up from their seats only after arguing over who would pay the bill. The stranger insisted she take his umbrella in case the rain started again

But what about you?

Just return it when we see each other again

Brooks couldn't help but smile at him, she turned to leave but was suddenly held back by the elbow
She landed straight on his chest

And just like that, he brought his lips to hers and kissed her briefly
Brooks touched her lips with her index finger
Stunned by his weird gesture, before she could say anything back to him, he walked away and disappeared into the crowd of people, rushing to get home
Although she didn't get to watch her favorite show, Brooks was somewhat happy she went under the rain
Till, realisation hit her hard like a bombshell!
Brooks
I just kissed a guy I barely even know!!!

The next morning, Brooks woke up feeling on cloud 9
She checked the time on her phone and saw she woke up on time
Happy, she had a bath and actually sorted out what she would wear

Do I pack my hair up or leave it down?
She stared into the mirror, looking at both styles and decided to pack it up

Gotta go for the more professional look
She used her spare time to water her plants and tidy up her living room
Brooks
I'll call Sam and check in on her morning
She took out her phone and dialled her friend's number
Brooks waited a while till the person on the other side finally picked up
Samantha
Huh? Who is this?
Samantha
I know I know, you never wake up early so it came as a shock to me
Brooks
I'm about ready to leave, where should me meet up?
Samantha
The cafe seems good, we can get coffee for the others too
Samantha
Did something happen to you? You seem kind of happy
Brooks
When am I ever in a bad mood?
Both women laughed over the phone for a while, enjoying the joke
Samantha
See you there then
Brooks couldn't stop the pounding of her heart, she thought she would be able to hide her rendezvous from everyone
Brooks
If I can't even lie to Sam, then I'm finished!
Brooks arrived later than expected
Samantha
Don't blame the traffic
Sam could easily detect the glow on her friend's face, something had definitely happened

So...spill the tea
Brooks
*Fumbles with her hair*
Samantha
I'mma smack you with my slipper if you don't stop acting coy with me

Brooks stood up to the counter and ordered four coffees, desperate to avoid the conversation

Brooks
Um...that I don't know
The stun on Samantha's face rivalled that of someone who had just seen a live ghost

Trust me, I'm not chatting with a creepy old man. He's real

I like the sound of that
Brooks rolled her eyes at her and readily took the four capucinos
counter girl

Brooks and Samantha happily left the cafe and headed for the studio. Where Brooks got a major shock!
