I sigh as I pack my stuff and loaded it into a moving truck. "Imma miss living here....and my friends" I say in my thoughts. I hug my friends and wave goodbye as a get into the car. I start to cry as my parents drive me away from my home. I see my friends also start to tear up as I wave bye.

I've lived in Colorado my whole life and now I'm moving away to Maryland because dad was offered a high paying job and since we were already struggling to pay rent in our small little home they thought this would be the best. I rub my eyes and wipe my tears. I sigh "this is gonna be a long road trip" I say in my thoughts. Since my parents couldn't afford plane tickets we were going by car.

After a while I started to feel sleepy so I went to sleep. When I woke up it was night and my parents had stoped in a parking lot for a break. I look out the window and saw a bunch of suspicious people around a dumpster. "dumpster divers" I thought while rolling my eyes. I checked my phone and saw it was 1:09 am I take a quick snap of myself doing the peace sign and sent it to my friends then went back to sleep. "Honey" I hear my mom say in my sleep. I woke up and saw my mom. I rub my eyes and wave good morning to her. She asks me what I wanted for breakfast. I quickly take out a piece of paper and write McDonald's. She smiles and says "Okay" and tells my dad to head to McDonald's. I smile and wipe the drool off my face and brush my teeth in the car. When we get to McDonald's I write my order on a piece of paper and hand it over to the cashier. For lunch and dinner we would stop at a restaurant of my choice. This was pretty much what happened on that 2 day road trip. When we finally got to our new home I sat on the porch because of the exhaustion. The moving truck with our stuff got here a few hour before we did. I watch my parents slowly start to unload the truck. I sigh "Well I better go help them" I say in my head while getting up. After a while of hard work, I've sort of finished unpacking my room. I looked at the window to see it was already dark. I frown and jump into bed. I let out a tear as a toke out my phone and scrolls through pictures of my friends and I. My mom knock on my door and I open it after wiping my tears. When my mom saw my sad face. she got down to my level while holding on to my shoulder. "I know your upset about moving" she says. "But I'm sure you'll make new friends and you'll have a great time here" I avoid eye contact while trying to hold back my tears. She continues to look at me and says "Your friends can visit or you could visit them" she says putting on somewhat of a smile. I nodded and walked towards my bed. She tells me goodnight and leaves my room. I jump back into bed, and cried myself to sleep.

The next morning I woke up and ate breakfast. I ask my parents if I could explore a bit and the sayed yes as long as I have my phone on me. I grab my phone and a notepad and headed outside. I decided to go to the near by playground my parents told me about. While headed to playground I see a couple of older kids trying to mug a boy that looked about my age. I turned around and started to walk away. "ugh, I'm mute what can I do" I say in my thoughts while rolling my eyes. But then I feel myself turning around and walking towards the boy. I quickly grab the boy by his hand and ran. I could hear the older group of kids screaming and running after me and the boy. I finally reached my house front yard after running for a while. I turn around and saw the the group of kids walking away while saying a bunch of swear words and saying how they would kill me the next time they saw me. While panting I turned to the boy and putted on a forced smiled. He shamefully smiled back, probably because he was saved my a girl and said "Th- thank you I geuss". I quickly get out my notepad and write "you welcome" then showed it to him. He looks at me weirdly then asks me if I can't speak. I nod and write on my notepad that "I'm mute". Then quickly showed him. Still looking a little embarrassed he and says "I'm Daniel, I'm 14 years old and live a couple blocks from that playground" I smile and quickly write on the notepad "Hi I'm Mariya and recently moved here from Colorado, I'm 13 1/2 years old, and the house were in front of is actually my new home" I showed him the notepad and he smiled and offered me to shake hands. I shake his hand and he says "Friends?" in a questioning tone. I nod a yes and smile. "Well I gotta go know" Daniel says. I nod and wave good bye and walked inside.When I walked inside I saw my mom in the kitchen and my dad was unpacking the living room. I heading to the kitchen and smiled at my mom. "Back so early?!" she says like she shocked. I nod and used sign language to tell my mom bout my day. She smiled and said "Well I'm glad you made a friend, maybe he can come over sometimes" I smile and nod repeatedly. I then join my mother and help her fix up the tacos. Then prepared the table and called my dad for lunch. When my dad ask me did I have fun at the park. I told about how I never made it to the park and that I saved a boy named Daniel from getting mugged. He looked really empress like he didn't think I was capable of ever making a friend within a short time or maybe he was shocked at the fact I had the confidence to save someone from getting mugged. My dad looked at me and said "Looks like your quite a dare devil, don't get yourself into to much trouble" I nod then ate my lunch. Later that day after eating dinner I texted my friends and told them about my day and told them how much I missed them. I sighed and smile "guess today wasn't that bad" I said to myself. Then went to sleep.
