Chapter One: Beautiful Sky

"Hey, wake up, you are gonna be late for your work."

A woman screamed at another woman while shaking her body, which was comfortably laying down on her bed.

"What do you  want? You woke me up at 6 in the morning yesterday because you couldn't find your hamster."

"Yes!  what if my lovely hamster was kidnapped?  What would you have done then? Anyways, Check the clock is it's already 8 am." The woman said, yelling back at the other woman. Her voice got calmer as she spoke the last sentence, but still, the voice was filled with annoyance.

The woman started walking away from the other, irritated to say the least.

"What do you mean it's already 8?  oh my god. f*ck, why didn't you wake me up earlier? Just why didn't you wake me up earlier? I had an extremely important meeting today, Eun. I'll be in trouble."

The woman starts panicking as the other woman, supposedly 'Eun' looked at her with a frown of disbelief.

"If you cared so much about your job, you would have woken up earlier yourself rather than expecting me to wake you up. You are already late. Isn't it best to go there as quick as possible now? I already made breakfast change up quickly, Yun"

Eun shot those words like a dagger, leaving Yun dumbfounded. For these sisters, it had always been like this.

Yun was always dependent on Eun. This duo had always been like this.

Yun was clumsy, she was smart and she was immature. Meanwhile, Eun was rather calm, mature, not as smart but she had more patience.

Both sisters undeniably loved each other a lot but fighting because of their personality differences had became a regular part of their relationship.

Yun doesn't like to keep quiet when someone criticizes her even in the slightest manner. She made a great deal on every piece of comment, and being the no nonsense personality she is, she would take great measures to forbid people from talking about her in a negative light in the near future.

Eun on the other hand, just couldn't care less about the thoughts of other people. She is stuck in her own world, and is carefree. She keeps studying over and over again. She didn't have to study with so much determination, but then, she rather be in the comfort of her own home, studying rather than spend time with dull-witted people.

"Eun, I can't believe you would say that to me."

Yun said, shocked at how brazen her little sister was. Her eyes were filled with exasperation, if someone didn't know better, they would think that Eun had murdered someone close to Yun.

"There you go again, Yun. You don't care about your job at all. If you did, you won't be still in your bed trying to make me feel sorry for simply waking you up. Get up and get ready quickly Yun, I am saying this for your own good."

Eun said, done of her sister's nonsense. Eun gave her a last glance, walking out to the living room. She picked up her keys from there, getting ready to head out of the house.

Yun quickly got up to get changed, although  still irate about her sister's comment.

***

She quickly changed her outfit, and went over to the kitchen to get her breakfast.  and ran to the kitchen to her breakfast. It was all prepared for her. Eun had already made sure every little thing was that that Yun would need so her older sister doesn't have any sort of problem.

The breakfast was scrambled eggs with avocado, a classic start to the day. Yun really doesn't have any time to eat her breakfast properly, but she never gives enough appreciation to avocado.

"Sh*t, Gotta run."

Yun curses under her breath, heading out of the house quickly.

---------------------

At the office

-------------------

Yun's Pov.

I finally made it to the police station. Yeah, I work as a detective. I bet it sounds fun to you, but trust me, it's not fun at all. This job requires so much of your time and your brainpower that the reward that comes out of it seems like nothing but I can't help it. It had been my life-long dream to be a detective.

The fact that I have handsome co-workers is just the icing on the cake.

"Yun, you are late again, aren't you?"

A sweet voice referred to me softly, and I instantly realized it was one of my co-workers. His dirty blonde hair, back eyes and that devlish charming smile was breathtaking.

I turned towards my back, now facing the owner of that sweet voice. He was sweetly smiling at me.

"Oh yes, I woke up late today."

Park Jimin, that man right there is the one who stole my heart from me, and never gave it back.

"Oh dear, this won't save you today. You already knew that today's meeting was extremely important, you should have woken up earlier."

With this sort of sweet voice and a perfect face, I wonder why he didn't opt to become an actor or a model, instead of being stuck here in a place like this. Saying he is good-looking is an understatement.

"Well yeah, but my sister woke me up late. Let's just hope I don't get fired today."

I said, a nervous smile painting my face. I really hope I don't get laid-off today.

"Your sister? Really? I find that hard to believe. Your sister is such a time-conscious person. Well, she is pretty too but anyways, let's just hope you don't get laid-off today."

Jimin remarked, grinning just at the thought of Eun.

You moron, compliment me as well. Why do you only praise her and her alone? Despite the fact that you already know I like you, you continue to treat me this way.

"I will be taking my leave. See you later."

I bid him a farewell, feeling a pinch of annoyance that he praised Eun but didn't do the same for me.

Even before he could utter one word to me in return, I walked into the office building.

I bowed back too. Inside the building, a whole lot of people greeted me, and I did the same.

I walked up to the reception and asked for my co-worker.

"Hello, I am Lee Yun. I was looking for Jeon Jungkook."

"Dose Mr. Jeon know you? Please show your ID."

The receptionist said to me. Her asking for my ID was understandable, due to the fact any criminal could come in disguised as us if we didn't take such measures.

"Yeah, I do. I am in the Senior Inspector department, I have a meeting scheduled for today."

I have been in this line of work for a little over four years. It never took long for me to get promoted. Every other month, I would get a raise in my pay check or simply get promoted.

"My apologies but it seems as if you had a meeting? It's around 9 right now your meeting was at 8 am?"

The receptionist asked with a tone of question in her voice, as she raised her eyebrow.

"Let her go, She is late already."

Another good-looking man, I could recognize him easily.

"But sir." The receptionist protested.

"I said, let her go." He shot back to the receptionist with a tone of dominance.

"You can go, miss. They are there on the seventeenth floor, in the twelfth room. It is right around the hall."

"Thank you."

I turned around to face that man who helped me out, and I mouthed him two words of gratefulness. He shot me his signature smile, such a smile that could make any woman die on the spot. I am definitely loyal to Jimin but he too sometimes, makes my heart flutter.

-----------------------------------------------------

At 17th-floor room number 12th

---------------------------------------------------

I was too anxious to open the door. I have no idea what is going to happen to me today.

Finally, I gather enough courage and push the door open.

"Look who's here, guys. The laziest detective out of all the detectives out there."

Jungkook said, with his tone, anyone could guess, that he was filled with rage, and it was all pouring out on Yun the moment she entered inside the room. It was like she opened the doors of hell itself.

He did look like a cute mess, and I laughed slightly in my head.

"I am so sorry." I said while stuttering, as I burst into a laughing fit.

"Stop laughing." Jungkook said, slamming his hands on his desk.

"How can I? You look so good." I said, not being able to stop laughing.

"I know right, I have been laughing about this since this morning." Kyoko joined me.

We both were laughing like there's no tomorrow. For me, there was definitely no tomorrow with the way I was laughing at him.

"Hey! You two, Stop laughing. Maybe if you guys could actually for once bring or help me with any good information, I wouldn't have been in this place."

Jungkook was raging at us, and I am sure everyone knows why he was.

"Okay, okay." Kyoko said, stopping her laughter,

"So Yun, I got really good news for you."

Jungkook spoke to me in a sugar-coated and sarcastic voice, making me scared for my life.

"What is it?" I ask. My heart was beating faster than ever.

"I got a new case but you won't be able to take any part in it." He said, crashing my hopes from the second half of the sentence.

"What? why?" I asked. Maybe, I still hadn't opened my eyes to the fact about what I had done.

"Why? Oh well, that is because I officially suspend you for a period of five months."

That was an excessive amount of time. What? Five months? Are you kidding me? If it were only for a week, I'd just watch Netflix and relax, but five months? Is he telling the truth? I could have easily classified it as vacation if it had only lasted a week, but five months?

"You are joking, right?" Kyoko asked on my behalf, sensing that I was speechless.

"No, I am not Kyoko. Yun did this to herself."

Jungkook replied back to her harshly.

The situation I was hoping would not happen, after all, it did happen.

"Hey, but that doesn't mean you can give me such a harsh punishment. Five months is simply too much Jungkook. No matter how thoroughly you look at my situation, five months is just too much."

I said, furious when I heard his reason.

"Yun, You know this very well, no matter how much you beg me, no matter how much you show me those angered eyes of yours, I can't help you even if I want to."

Jungkook said, turning away from my angered yet saddened eyes. I took a second to think about it, and then it hit me. He was in fact, right.

I should have paid more attention at my job. After all, it was not his fault that I was not working hard.

"You are right, Jungkook. I apologize for screaming at you like that. I lost my mind for a moment."

I apologized to him, feeling red in the face at the fact that I acted so childish in front of him.

"Well, then. Yun, you can take your leave, I guess. You can rest now which is a luxury for us detectives so you better enjoy it, dear."

Kyoko said something to me to attempt to cheer me up a little. Sleep had become something of a luxury for us. Even when everyone else in the world went to sleep, we needed to be vigilant. A minor blunder on our part could grow into a terrifying situation for the broader public.

"Yeah, I guess. Well then, I should head home now. If there is any need for me, please do not hesitate to give me a call."

To be honest, I had no intention of returning home. This police station was as much my home as the one I shared with my younger sister, but it wasn't my home for the next five months and that saddened me.

Kyoko wrapped her arms around my shoulders and hugged me. She offered me a warm hug that would brighten anyone's day, but my mind was too jumbled to be repaired.

Jungkook leaned in to hug me as well but before I could wrap my arms around him a hand came in and pushed Jungkook away from me.

"What are you doing man? Have a little respect for women."

The man gave Jungkook a sidelong glance as he clicked his tongue, but then greeted me with his trademark smile.

"Hello, Miss Yun. I was promoted to this department a few days ago. but never had the chance to introduce myself. Nice to meet you, I am Kim Seokjin."

A man with a vibrant and charming voice extended his hand to shake mine.

"Do you don't want to shake my hand?"

Pause.

I was so preoccupied with his looks that I didn't notice his hand reaching out to me. I smiled as I finally jumped out of my fantasy land and shook his hand.

"My apologies, Seokjin. Your face is way too good-looking for me to focus somewhere else which is the reason why I didn't see your hand. Nice to meet you, I am Lee Yun."

He laughed. Even the sound of his chuckle has a deep quality to it. Is it possible that I'm in love? But then it dawned on me: Jimin, not him, is my man.

"Thank you, Miss Yun. You look lovely as well, you can call me Jin. No need for you to be so formal with me."

"Thank you. You can call me Yun then."

"Jungkook, you should shake her hand rather than pulling her in a hug like that. The handshake seems more formal and appropriate for work."

"I am sure Yun doesn't mind. We have known each other long enough to give each other hug."

Jungkook then drew me into a tight hug.

He spoke in hushed tones into my ear.

"Yun, I am sorry. I hope you understand that I have no say in this. I will miss you."

"I will miss you too."

That was the last word I said to him, before he unwrapped his arms from around me.

"Goodbye, then. Yun, please rest, so you can come back. We will miss you a lot."

"Kyoko, I will miss you too. Bye, everyone."

I went right out of the room after that. I'm still reeling from what happened today. So, how am I going to spend the next five months?

----------------------

In the room

--------------------

"What's the murderer's name?" Someone asked.

"Banshee." The unknown voice replied.

"Quite a bizarre name, don't you think?" That someone asked the other person again.

"Indeed." The voice said in agreement.

------------------------------

Outside the room

----------------------------

"Miss Yun, what are you doing here?"

That was all I could hear before someone interrupted me.

"I was just going home. Nothing else, be safe while you go." I replied to him politely.

"You too."

Why does he appear every place I go?

I cursed at him under my breath as I entered the elevator, and also once when I left the elevator.

-------------------------------------------

Outside the office building

----------------------------------------

"At least, There is a beautiful sky today."

With that remark, I consoled myself.

What was the name of the assailant again?

Was it Banshee?

Right, it was  Banshee. I promise that I, Lee Yun, will find that bastard in less than three months without any help. That is my goal.
