I Will Become The Queen’S Doormat

I Will Become The Queen’s Doormat Chapter 1.1

Chapter 1: Red Flavour Princess part 1

In the detached palace deep inside the Imperial Palace of the Heiosen Empire; in the largest and most luxurious room of the detached palace, a skinny lady-in-waiting was cleaning alone.

“빠, 빨간 맛! 궁금해, 허니~!”

(Curious about the red flavour, Honey!)

(T/N: Song: Red Flavour by Red Velvet)

No, she was in the middle of singing and dancing under the guise of cleaning. It was partnered with a long broom as she spun it with a swish! The snap of her fingers that spun the broom doesn’t seem to be unusual. The broom’s bristles spun gently, seeping away every corner.

“My favourite is Princess Pyreone!”

Jump – !  The lady-in-waiting made a splendid jump as she stretched her broom away and extended her other hand in the opposite direction. A thick smoke emitted as if it was a stage effect as the dust flew around.

“My favourite is ~ Princess’ ~ face~”

The lady-in-waiting hugged the broom one last time. She faintly raised the last note while she was holding the other end of the broom, tilted her head as she lowered her eyebrows in an eight-shape, then gently closed her eyes, creating a more emotional atmosphere. Silence came after an exciting song ended. The lady-in-waiting still maintained her final posture.

“Ah~ if I could only be the Princess’ doormat~”

(T/N: Being one’s ‘doormat’ means that you are willing to do anything for that person. In other words, you are willing to be their dog.)

Finally, the lady-in-waiting sang a thin and high verse like an aria of an opera.

(T/N: Aria of the opera means a solo vocal piece in an opera, and means ‘air’.)

The moment the lady-in-waiting was about to move to finish cleaning, clap, clap, clap, a slow applause came from somewhere. Startled, the lady-in-waiting turned around to the direction of the sound as she hid her body behind the broom she was holding like a microphone.

“You’re pretty good.”

A noble voice rang out from the darkness. It was a beautiful voice, but it sounded like the grim reaper’s blade to the lady-in-waiting. Her complexion turned white.

“P-Princess….” The lady-in-waiting trembled and barely spoke, then fell flat on the floor.

And there it was – it was none other than the owner of this room, Princess Pyreone, who emerged from the darkness. Her red hair was waving softly like petals, her white skin shining as white as the moonlight, and her eyes that sparkled as if ruby were embedded in them, with her rich eyelashes that covered them. The owner of this room with a sharp nose, small lips, and an endless beauty to mention one by one. Her dress was similarly elegant, splendid and luxurious, but that didn’t match her beauty.

Princess Pyreone slowly approached the lady-in-waiting. Clack, clack, the sound of her shoes echoing on the marble floor pierced the ears of the lady-in-waiting who was lying flat on the floor. The lady-in-waiting’s shoulders trembled, while her hand that was resting on the floor turned white, as if her fingers were about to be one with the marble floor.

“What does it mean?”

“…Y-yes?” The lady-in-waiting ‘s voice cracked when she asked.

“What did you say?” The red lips of the beautiful Princess Pyreone shimmered like stars and moved closely, “Red flavour?”

The lady-in-waiting ‘s face turned yellow.

“What does it mean to want to be a doormat?”

The lady-in-waiting’s face turned blue this time. It was surprising that a person’s complexion could change in an instant.

‘I am screwed.’

The lady-in-waiting, Haon, just wanted to die by banging her head on the marble floor like this.

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘

Haon wasn’t originally from this world. The song she sang wasn’t of this world either. Her name ‘Haon’ wasn’t given of this world.

Lee Ha-on – the woman named Ha-on with the surname Lee, was a healthy Korean girl living in the Republic of Korea on a solar system planet. But why was she now an assistant lady-in-waiting of the Heiosen Empire now?

‘I also don’t know!’

When she first opened her eyes, she woke up laying on a futon covered with straw and a stiff cotton cloth.

“Move quickly!”

Clang, clang, clang! A woman dressed like those which were worn in the Middle Ages, walked around hitting a bucket with a ladle. On Haon’s both sides, there were women who as also dressed similarly in the bed similar to hers.

“What are you doing? Change quickly.”

As Haon was unconscious and dazed, the woman next to her pinched her arm.

Haon followed the people around her without even knowing the situation, picking up the clothes at her feet and putting them on. It was the neatest and precious-looking clothes among the items in this place. The woman who woke up everyone scooped up a ladle of the white soup, and the women beside her sitting side by side passed the black bread to the person next to them.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she ate black bread accompanied by a watery soup, then Haon was driven to work out of the blue.

‘What the hell is going on?’

She had no idea what was going on as she was driven by the rush of things and spent a crazy day. It was only after she had worked very hard to the point that she felt like getting sick as she lay on the uncomfortable straw bed, Haon was able to think about the strange thing that happened to her.

‘Is this a dream? My past life? Teleportation? Am I dead?’

There was no clear answer. She did not know where or when, but Haon was satisfied with the fact that she was not in Korea.

‘I’d rather be here. I don’t want to go back.’

Haon’s original life was terrible, to the extent that she feels this unknown world is better. And it has only been 21 days since she took over as the lady-in-waiting to this unknown place.

“I need a quick-witted child with dark eyes and ears, tight-lipped, and fast hands.”

(T/N: Now, I am not sure what the ‘dark eyes and ears’ mean, but I think it has something to do with being able to close your eyes and ears in every situation. Meaning that if you see or hear something you shouldn’t, you can act as if you didn’t see or heard it. But, correct me though if I understood it wrong. )

Someone came and said these remarks without beating around the bush, asking for a lady-in-waiting who would be a good hand and foot of the new master. She was a lady-in-waiting dressed in colourful clothes that was much better than the head lady-in-waiting managing the group of ladies-in-waiting. She was leading several lower ranks, so she might be a high-ranking one. The head lady-in-waiting bent her back to the point that her head touched the floor.

Chapter 1: Red Flavour Princess part 2

“I can send these children to a detached palace without you having to come to this shabby place, if you just give me the word.”

“The Princess hates noise.”

“Of course.” The head lady-in-waiting immediately changed her words and responded.

“Even if you are the assistant lady-in-waiting of the lower ranks, not just anyone can enter the detached palace. I will choose them myself.”

“Yes.”

She was bending her back so much that she was almost rolling forward with her head down. The woman looked at Haon’s group behind the head lady-in-waiting, who were standing upright. Her eyes suddenly changed fiercely.

“Line up!”

The ladies-in-waiting nervously stood in line. There were a few that hoped they will be chosen to be sent to a good place among them. Of course, Haon had no interest nor expectation at all.

She was only,

‘Those shoes would be very comfortable to wear.’

She was only interested in the soft velvet shoes the high-ranking lady-in-waiting was wearing, because Haon’s feet hurt so much while wearing rough shoes.

‘It would be perfect if our welfare was better.’

Haon didn’t even know that the high-ranking lady-in-waiting was looking at her with such thoughts in her mind. Whenever the high-ranking lady-in-waiting looked around the maids, their bodies shrank. It was only Haon who was standing upright without moving and slightly bowing her head. And her attitude looked good in the eyes of the high-ranking lady-in-waiting.

‘Your guts are impressive.’

Of course, she was clearly misunderstood.

The high-ranking lady-in-waiting scrutinized Haon. She looked plain at first glance, but you can feel the subtle charm of a pearl under the mud if you look at her closely. She had straight eyebrows, fairly large eyes, pointed nose, and even her cute lips that ere bright red; she was a little thin, but she looked alright. Her shiny black hair in particular was very unusual and wasn’t often seen.

‘I wouldn’t be embarrassed to have you next to the Princess.’

The high-ranking lady-in-waiting approached Haon as she made up her mind, “You.”

Haon’s chin was lifted by the pheasant feathers of the high-ranking lady-in-waiting. It brushed her chin and pushed both her cheeks left and right as if examining her face. She didn’t see anything wrong, and as expected, she really liked Haon’s appearance, but she didn’t say anything.

“Not bad.”

Haon was contemplating whether to take that as a compliment.

Meanwhile, the high ranking lady-in-waiting turned around and said to the head lady-in-waiting, “I will take this child.”

“That’s an excellent choice. She is a very bright and savvy child who does things neatly and neatly.”

The head lady-in-waiting spat out words without even knowing who Haon was.

“Anyway, that’s what it should be.”

The high-ranking lady-in-waiting turned around without sparing Haon another glance. The lower ranks behind her also hastened their steps.

“You’re blessed.”

The lower ranking lady-in-waiting whispered in Haon’s ears and tapped her butt with a tak! She was beckoning her to come quickly.

Haon had no things to bring in the first place, so she didn’t even have anything to pack. She walked along behind the group led by the high-ranking lady-in-waiting.

‘Where are we going now?’

It’s the same with cleaning and chores anyway.

At that moment, the ladies-in-waiting walking ahead of Haon paved the way for her and led her forward. The high-ranking lady-in-waiting who chose her called her and let her stood beside her.

“I am the Princess’ direct lady-in-waiting, in charge of everything about her, managing the detached palace, and directing you. I will mercilessly throw you away if I deem that you are a threat to the Princess, and you should know that making someone like you disappear in this vast Imperial Palace wasn’t a big deal.”

The pheasant feathers on the tip of the direct lady-in-waiting’s whip swept under Haon’s chin menacingly.

‘You started off with a very brutal way of speaking.’

Haon swallowed her saliva and nodded her head. It doesn’t matter how things would go, but my life is precious.

“Foremost, you will have to give up the idea that you are a lady-in-waiting of the Heiosen Empire from now on.” The direct lady-in-waiting said sternly. But this time it wasn’t a threat at all.

‘I mean, I didn’t even know where I am working.’

It was because Haon didn’t even have any sense of belonging in the first place.

“We are Princess Pyreone’s people before being the ladies-in-waiting of the Heiosen Empire – that is what you must keep in mind and engrave it.”

Haon, who had been listening halfway through, perked up and caught a specific word. Wait, Heiosen? And, Pyreone?

“Wait.”

How dare a lower rank lady-in-waiting cut off the words of a direct lady-in-waiting! Everyone stared at Haon. Only the direct lady-in-waiting kept her composure and looked at Haon.

“What is that?”

“Is it Princess Pyreone Vir Afre Zekruan?”

“It seems like you picked up something vulgar somewhere. Yes, she is your master.”

“Hey, that’s amazing.”

“What do you mean?”

“I-it means it is an honour to serve her.”

Haon raised the hem of her skirt and politely greeted her. However, her face with her head down was white with astonishment.

‘No way, really? This place? The Heiosen Empire? You mean the land of the Queen of Roses and Thorns?!’

It was the title of the web novel Haon reread day and night for a year when she was living as a hikikomori in Korea. She did that. Haon now entered the world of the web novel she had read to the point that she had memorized it. More than that, she was a now lower rank lady-in-waiting with the presence of an extra.

(T/N: Hikikomori is a type of condition that mainly affects adolescents or young adults who isolated themselves from the world, locking themselves inside their room for a long period of time, and even refusing to communicate with their parents.)

I Will Become The Queen’s Doormat Chapter 2.1

Chapter 2 part 1

\ was a very unpopular web novel. First and foremost, it was because the very detailed setting was overly complicated, and the relationship between the characters were heavily entangled. Politics, history, and even about war was difficult to deal with, adding the more epic story about the Queen’s growth phase rather than the romance.

Haon lived with her smartphone all day long while living as a hikikomori due to a series of incidents. She cut off her social media and saw everything on the internet that there was nothing for her to watch. Amidst that, she accidentally discovered the web novel .

She felt bad to put on airs with its lengthy volume, so she ended up reading until the end. It was almost as if it was only Haon who finished reading when she completed it. She even thought that the author was amazing that she wrote it until the end even without readers.

‘It was fun and promising in its own way, so why was it so unpopular?’

Was it her affection as a reader who completed reading it?

Haon developed an attachment with \ and repeated reading it over and over again. She was able to memorize its contents as a result, and she even knew its trivial settings and the names of the extras. But in general, it was also due to her memorization skills.

She even knew Anten, Princess Pyreone Vir Afre Zekruan, who was later called ‘Queen of Roses and Thorns’ and was only called ‘Princess’ now, and Lavre who was Anten’s assistant lady-in-waiting.  She transmigrated to a very detailed novel that even named the main character’s direct lady-in-waiting’s assistant, and she possessed the body of a supporting extra assistant lady-in-waiting that wasn’t even mentioned.

The role that Haon possessed was precisely the assistant lady-in-waiting under Lavre [1] – if that was her only advantage of transmigrating.

“My name is Haon.”

Was it to the extent that Haon can use her real name as she had no set value given and wasn’t given a name? Haon knew that she transmigrated into her  favourite novel and she couldn’t be any happier than that, but the most frustrating moment for her was when she found out her identity as an assistant lady-in-waiting.

“If it’s being fortunate, then was it the fact that I have been working my butt off in the Princess’ detached palace? Maybe one day I can even see the Princess from afar.” Haon muttered as she was mopping the marble floor to polish it today.

Haon’s favourite character in \ was of course the male lead, but even if he had the main character position, she loved the Queen of Roses and Thorns’ Princess Pyreone. In fact, the Princess wasn’t from the Heiosen Empire where she was living at present.

\ can be briefly explained as follows.

The First Princess of Zekruan Empire, Princess Pyreone, came to Heiosen Empire as a pawn due to the power struggles between Empires. She overcame many difficulties in the end, achieved love with the Second Prince, and eventually becomes the King of Heiosen Empire.

‘It was that kind of novel.’

Haon recalled the contents of \ while mopping.

‘Her romance with the Second Prince was really good, but why did it suddenly die during the war against the Maureen Empire? All the readers left from there. D**n it, isn’t the author just crazy? Why did you kill the male lead, even if it was the female lead who was narrating?’

But her anger still didn’t subside thinking about the time the Second Prince died. Haon rubbed the floor with the mop angrily. The marble floor was so polished that it was shining.

“But aren’t I here?”

Haon suddenly stopped mopping. She was quite experienced after reading web novels for a year. There were also a lot of transmigrating novels among the web novels she had read. In those novels, the main character that transmigrated completely changed the content of the original novel.

“I know everything that lies ahead, so I can help the Princess!”

That’s right! Haon’s existence was a spoiler. It had been a long time since she had felt the will to live. She clenched her fists and jumped up from her seat.

“I have to rescue the Princess when she would be harassed by the unfortunate Trillinia and let her walk only on the flowery path. I will push her hard towards the Second Prince without having to worry about the other Princes! All I have to do is help the Second Prince not die!”

Haon made up her goal as she remembered the villain, Young Lady Trillinia, and the male lead Second Prince.

“I also would like to meet my favourite character, the Fifth Prince. He-he.”

Haon sneaked in her private desires in the end. The Fifth Prince was her favourite character in .

That moment when saliva was about to flow from the corners of her mouth as she wanders into her delusion, “Are you done mopping? Clean the southern hallway afterwards.”

Haon heard a voice that was like pouring cold water over her. It was Mel – her boss. She was also a lower ranked lady-in-waiting with no setting values in the web novel .

“Ye-yes.”

Haon took her mop and bucket before briskly walking towards the southern hallway. What spoiler existence? I am in a situation where I only mop all day long.

“Is this the only way I will be able to see the Princess just once until she ascends to the throne?” Haon was crying and muttering.
