I stared at the book that I had found, the cover was made of animal leather. I passed my hand over it, the skin that covered the book was thick but it didn't hurt, it looked like goat skin, the cover didn't have a single letter. I had no way of knowing what the book would say or who had written it. So, I decided to open it and find out if there was anything written on. The front page said “Scarlet Project”, the name was big, written in black ink, the letters were not in any modern language. That got me surprised, I understood them to be from where my father came from, Atlantis, he had taught me everything about that place. The page itself was no longer white, had yellowish tones of aging, it was obvious, it had been hundreds of years that this book had been written. I decided to go through the pages and read everything the book wanted to tell me.
I was fascinated, the book was very detailed, had several DNA decodes, calculations, told a little about what was the day-to-day of the project developed by a very large team, since on its pages there were citations of groups n1, n2, n3, ..., nx study development group.
I decided to let go of the book and look for more things, in the middle of all that mess I found a big book lying on the floor, the book seemed to be important, it was heavy and its cover was a dark leather, before lifting it, I opened it to see what its contents were.
The pages were in the same state as the previous book, but the page of this book was 4 times larger than the previous one and on the first page there was nothing written, I went through the page and came across a summary full of names, it was certainly a administrative book where there were the names of everyone involved in the project, I decided to open it on any page and came across a woman named “Isis Areleous”, contained on the page the academic and physical description, and a drawing of the face, next to the drawing, in the description had written “researcher”, I decided to pick up the book from the floor and put it on a pedestal made to support books that was behind me, it was better, facilitated my reading and my back would not hurt so much. The pedestal was very beautiful, covered in gold with sculptured details, extremely heavy even for me, certainly solid gold.
I looked for the name of my father or someone I knew, it was certainly a good idea, the book was full of known names, almost all the older people who lived in the same tribe or in nearby tribes had the names there, I was amazed, even my father was on the list, I decided to open the page for him, it was page number 265, there was everything about him and in the same place that was “researcher” on the Isis page, my father had written “Head of genetic research ”, I stopped reading, decided to sit in a wooden chair that was behind a large table, covered with books and dust, everything in that room was dusty, were old things, that brought me old memories, I rested my head on the padded part of the chair, I closed my eyes for a brief moment to recall everything that I had been through, seemed to be brief, it was for at most a minute, but for me that moment took hundreds of years.
“Sir, project n1 is a success!” - said Mina, a young man in his twenties, with long blond hair, the ends easily reaching his shoulders, but working in a place that could not let him loose, so he wore a bun held by an ornate needle made of gold, covered in detail, his eyes were blue, tall, slender and refined, a born flirtatious sixty feet tall. Mina was extremely intelligent, at her age already actively participating in the projects in Atlantis, a genius.
“Glad to know that nothing is going wrong, the gods may be looking for us and helping with our research.” - said Calil. - “Go with the others and tell everyone to watch out for patients, write down all the data in the journal, it's getting late, let's go home, Mina."
"Yes sir, I will warn the night shift officers." - Mina paused and then continued, he had remembered that everyone in the genetic project had agreed to go out drinking, and asked Mina to call Calil. - "I was almost forgetting, everyone is leaving for Wales, don't you want to go? They asked to call you.”
“Thanks for the invitation Mina, today I will not be able to go, I will stay with Gsela, she is anxiously waiting in the north wing, today we go to the Poseidon.” - Mina is startled for a brief moment and expresses a look of amazement followed by a sincere smile.
"I'll tell everyone you won't, but doesn't Poseidon have all the tables booked for this month and the month after, and after? How did you get a reservation like that?” - Asked Mina, with an expression that clearly said restlessness and the desire to know how Calil had done such a feat.
Calil smiled briefly, looked straight into Mina's face, his heavy, broad hands opted over Mina's left shoulder and said:
“I'll tell you.” - Calil was almost laughing but managed to contain himself. - “Get closer.” - Mina approached Calil, was a step away.
“Okay, you can tell now.”
"You're still far away Mina, come closer, don't be afraid, I won't bite you." - Mina moved closer to Calil.
Calil put his lips to Mina's right ear, still with his hand on the young man's shoulder said:
“I spoke to Svina.”
"I can't believe you know Svina !?" - Mina had been startled and spoke louder than he could, everyone around stared at them, and then Calil expressed a look of indignation with Mina and with his hand that once held the young man's shoulder punched Mina's head.
"I asked you to get closer so no one would listen, head of wind."
“Sorry sir.” - Mina patted her head to ease the pain that ran through her scalp.
"Then I won't tell you how I met or any of that, but important information has already been given to you."
“Well, I’m going, my love is waiting for me.” - Mina watched as Calil spoke of Gsela, no matter where, or when, thinking of the beloved, Calil always gave a smile in the corner of the mouth.
Calil had already said goodbye to Mina, and was getting further and further away as Mina watched Calil's back. The corridor that began in the genetics lab was rich in detail and covered with large windows that let sunlight in and illuminated the entire corridor. Calil liked to look out the window, the campus landscape was magnificent, he looked at the lawn and the trees that stretch as far as the eyes could see.
The building where he worked was far from the city and had nothing around, a non-landscape. Even when it was night time the whole building continued to work, it had it’s own lighting, since the energy in Atlantis already existed, it was extracted from the same rays that passed through the windows, Atlantis already knew solar energy and used only for his city, they were an extremely advanced people for the time.
Calil did not know the exact time, there was no wristwatch yet, but he had a sense that it was already close to the time agreed with Gsela to meet, a position of the sun indicated for him. He kept walking with his long and firm steps, until he arrives at the SC (social center).
By far, he had seen his beloved, and was observing without losing a hair. She was surrounded by friends who worked with her, as beautiful as she was, but Calil didn't take Gsela's attention away, she had a dark skin tone, her straight wavy hair a vibrant black that even touched the underside, her body was sculptural, broad hip and slim waist, totally different from the Greek and Atlantean women, she had a sensuality that makes all men look at her when she walked on the street.
The SC was large, had sliding windows everywhere, in the center it had a giant pillar surrounded by benches associated with tables and chairs that took up a huge space to accommodate everyone who worked in the building. The place had a refectory with a varied menu, it changes every day, the dishes was available for everyone, free of charge for better accommodation for those who worked there.
Calil continued to walk toward Gsela, now with smaller steps, ready to approach her, trying to embrace and making a surprise, holding behind her back with his arms around her waist and his face glued to hers.
As he imagined, Calil reproduced, Gsela was startled, but when she smelled the perfume that was given to Calil last night, she calmed down and wrapped her arms around his, making her come closer and their bodies come in more contact. Transmit heat to each other. Gsela's friends already knew the couple very well, they displayed no big reaction. Theirs inspiration was to have a relationship equal to or better than Gsela’s.
"Look who arrived!” - said Kalina, Gsela's friend and private secretary - “Hello, romantic gentleman, how are you?".
“I'm fine, thanks for asking Kalina. You look beautiful, just like every day when I see you.” - Calil said with a sincere and comfortable smile looking into Kalina's eyes.
“You see that Gsela, Calil has a lip that deceives any woman, beware. Thanks for the compliment.” - Kalina gave Calil a status look and let out a short laugh shortly thereafter.
"I know how good he is with words, I don't know how he became a scientist, it would be easier to work with court judgments." - Gsela said smiling and hugging more tightly.
"Before I talk too much, good afternoon girls." Calil paused to hear the compliments of all the woman’s who were talking to Gsela and Kalina and then went on. “I should certainly do well in court, but if I don't have it here, what would this research be?” - Calil chuckled - "Jokes aside, I’m going to steal Gsela from you guys, we have a very special night today and we can't be late!”.
“It's true, today is a very special day.” Said Gsela looking up into Calil's eyes.
All the women standing there looked at each other and laughed, they already knew what Calil and Gsela was going to do and did not needed to ask them where they were going or what would they do.
The couple said bye to the girls and went to the exit that continued in short corridor with destination in the reception hall which had several guards and receptionists.
The Scarlet project was not a secret, but it was not disclosed to the entire population either, the government was hoping for success to inform the residents of Atlantis and promote a "human evolution", by enhancing only the selected local population.
They feared that other nations, clans or empires would use the “evolution" for war.
