Hello everyone! My name is Misty and I'm a writer here!

Now, this is the welcoming ceremony for "The Boss Next Door"!
I just want to clarify some things before you go ahead and read the first chapter.
Any chapters with mature content will have a "*" at the end of the chapter name. For example:
Chapter 1 - Introduction*
There are many ways that you can earn crazy updates. One of which is by voting!
Every 100 vote milestones, I'll be doing a crazy update of 3 chapters!
It also helps this novel gain more exposure so that more people come and read it!
Another way is by commenting. The more comments one of my novels has, the more inclined I'll be to update more to satiate your appetites.
My update schedule is simple. I'll update daily (apart from times where I'm busy) but you shouldn't be waiting for too long (I know that my track record for completing novels isn't the best but hear me out, I promise to complete this one).
Now that we've talking about my update schedule, let's talk about the characters.
Violet is the female lead. She's a manager at Taylor Enterprises.

Lisa is also (secretly) the grand daughter of the Chairman and has a twin brother named Warner.

Warner is the male lead of our story. He is like any other cold boss, unemotional and unfazed, always looking like he could kill someone at a glance.
But is that his real personality?
Who is Adam, you ask? A rival for Violet's heart? You're close.

Chapter 1 - What Is A BFF For?
I've been stuck behind this desk since 8AM this morning.
I can almost feel myself merging with my seat.
It's the busiest season for our department and I haven't been able to relax in ages.
Scheduling fashion shoots, making sure to profile any potential new models who might boost our ratings even more, and sorting out important issues with this season's wardrobe with our designers.
I can't even look away for a minute unless I want to be left with a backlog of emails to read and reply to.

Caramel macchiato, two pumps vanilla, extra cream.
I looked up and almost cried when I saw my savior and best friend Lisa walk in with my favourite brew from the coffee shop down the street.

It's the least I can do, after all I took the morning off for an appointment and you had to pick up my slack.

It's fine. After all...
We looked at each other and spoke at the same time.

We laughed at each other as she then took her seat next to me and began helping me with my backlog of emails.
Ever since I first entered the company three years ago, Lisa has always been by my side.
She vouched for me when there was a discussion as to who should replaced the previous manager, who had retired.
Now, people call me Manager Violet and I've got an insane salary.
However, I'm sure that it is only that high in order to compensate the overtime that we are forced to put in every evening.
I took a sip of my macchiato and I fell back into my chair.
Violet Gardenia
It's so good...
Lisa Taylor
I'm glad that you like it.
She then leaned forward and smiled.
Lisa Taylor
You always make such a cute expression when you're enjoying food or drink.

Don't be embarrassed, it's cute.

Be careful not to show it in front of the guys in the PR department. I'm scared that they'll be after you like hounds to their dinner.
Seeing my confusion, Lisa quickly changed the subject.

Oh, could you go bring this to the director?
Violet Gardenia
Hm? What is it?
Lisa Taylor
Oh, just a draft for something. It's urgent, so could you go up now?

Yes, of course. I need to stretch my legs anyways.
I took the folder that she gave me and slowly walked out towards the elevator.
The moment I was out of sight, she took out her phone and began texting a certain Assistant Smith, a mischievous grin crossed her lips.

Hehe, Brother, you owe me one again.

Chapter 2 - Important Business
Going up to hand things to the director has been almost like a daily routine for me.
Lisa is always so busy, since her branch manages the customer side of things.
I'm happy to run errands for her whenever she needs me. It also gives me a chance to breath and stretch my legs.
As I wait for the ping of the 28nd floor, I went to walk out when I bumped into Assistant Smith.
Violet Gardenia
Oh, Mr Smith!
Oliver Smith
Miss Gardenia, I'm so glad to see you. Please, this way.
Violet Gardenia
Oh, I thought that you were here to pick up the documents.
Violet Gardenia
Lisa said that they were pretty urgent-
Oliver Smith
Yes, that is why it must be done in person.
Oliver Smith
Come on in, no time to lose!
I clutched hold of the documents, as if someone was going to swoop in and grab them from my hands at any moment.
I knocked on the door to his office, and a monotone enter told me that it was alright to go in.
Violet Gardenia
Hello, Director! Manager Lisa sent these documents up to you?
Director Taylor was a man of not many words.
He put out his hand and I quickly shuffled myself up and handed him the folder.
Violet Gardenia
There we go.
He opened it up and read the first page intently.
Warner Taylor
I need to review this and get back to Manager Lisa.
Violet Gardenia
Oh, all right. I'll be going-
Warner Taylor
No, stay. I need my response to be back as soon as I've finished it.
Warner Taylor
Stay here, Oliver will get you something to drink.
Violet Gardenia
Um... b-but-
His glare suddenly made me stiffen and I quickly smiled nervously.
Violet Gardenia
O-Of course.
I wish that I had brought my caramel machiatto with me. It's going to get cold.
Assistant Smith gestured towards the couch in his office and asked me a simple question.
Oliver Smith
What would you like?
Violet Gardenia
Um... n-nothing, I've got a macchiato down in the office, so I'm fine.
Oliver Smith
Miss, please. I'd feel terrible if you sat here without something to drink or eat.
I looked up at the assistant, who seemed to have been put in a difficult situation.
Violet Gardenia
I guess that if I had my caramel machiatto with me-
Oliver Smith
Excellent, I'll go have someone fetch it immediately.
Violet Gardenia
Wait, that's not necessary-
But he was already gone by the time I had opened my mouth.
Honestly... poor Assistant Smith.
I could never imagine myself working as hard as he does.
I have a lot of respect for him.
I ended up just sitting there, doing nothing but sit and stare around me.
It feels like I'm cheating Lisa and making her do my work.
I don't even have my phone, I left it down in my desk drawer.
Fatigue and the fact that my body hadn't been used to relaxation hit me at once, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep in Director Taylor's office.
