I met this guy on a rainy day…

I bumped into him and his books fell down on a puddle I panicked and quickly picked up

the book while slowly looking at him, his brows met behind those black glasses

Based on his facial expression he was completely annoyed

“I’m really sorry, what should I do” I said while holding his soaked book

He grabbed the book and said “Watch where you’re going please”

He continued walking while shaking off the excess water from his book

I was a minute late from our first day of class; my hair was still dripping from the

rain. I greeted our teacher and quickly walked towards the vacant chair by the window

I stared outside while the teacher was talking about the rules, the rain was still

pouring hard I couldn’t focus much, I guess I was still embarrassed about what

I did earlier.

He was kind though, I thought he would throw a tantrum against me.

An hour passed, they elected me as the class president, I don’t know why but I guess I

look smart? I kept examining the surroundings of our new classroom, until someone caught my eye

A guy with some weird glasses entered the room the people stared at him going inside also

soaked with the rain, I squinted my eyes and I must not be mistaken He is the guy I bumped into earlier,

In shock I quickly lowered my head and covered it with my arms. I must be crazy? Am I really seeing that guy here?

I looked up to see where he was sitting; gladly he was sitting beside the door

“Good, He’s far” I faced the window with a sigh of relief

I wore my earphones and just listened to music while closing my eyes, When I felt someone was at my back I turned around and was shocked at what was in front of me, His eyes widened ‘OMG he must’ve noticed my face, I’m dead’ I was expecting him to point out my mistake again, I just sat still and he said “You’re the class president right?” What the hell? Was that it? Well I’m not asking for more, it was enough. I sighed in relief when I heard his words.

“Yes what do you want?” I replied softly

“Help me with this” He ordered. He gave me his notebook and dragged the nearest chair

beside me

I have to admit, His fragrance is addicting.

The entire vacant time I helped him study, maybe, this is my payment for destroying his

book.

The bell went on and I tidied up my things from the table, as I was about to sway my bag

someone grabbed my shirt, It’s that guy again “Pres. Help me again” He asked, well at least this time ‘politely’

“Hey, don’t you have any tutors? And I’m not the smartest kid you can go to Alicia

she’s top one.” I questioned

“I don’t have any tutor, I- umm” He stuttered “remember the book? You should repay me”

I was right he was aiming at the book, sheesh.

“Fine let’s go somewhere” I said in my annoyed tone, He grabbed the books from my hands

“I’ll carry it”. At least he is useful.

And that is how I met my first friend in high school.

We ate outside and also studied a lot, He is much smarter than I thought,

I have a feeling he already knows the things I have been teaching him.

“Oh, the rain stopped already” I said as he was about to open the umbrella

I smiled as I said “What are you doing?”

“It was raining a while ago” He replied

I insisted about going home but he asked me to go somewhere with him

“Come on I just want to look at something for a while” He begged

I agreed and we ended up at a store full of books.

We went to check out some books

I got bored so I looked for him I saw him reading book titles from its shelves, He grabbed one quickly, passed by me and went straight to the counter, I followed him and the book was already packed as I reached the counter, as soon as we got out of the store he turned to me and gave me the paper bag. “Why?” I asked  “It’s for you, Please use it well”.

“The day isn’t done yet do you want to go somewhere pretty?” He added I nodded and maybe thought about going home late for a day, In fact I live alone.

We took the bus and to my surprise we stopped at the beach just in time to see the

sunset.

“Why are you spending so much time with me in just a day?” I asked out of curiosity

“Because it’s our first day” He replied while staring at the wide space in front of us

My heart skipped a beat; does this have something to do with the book earlier?

I’m not sure; all I know is that I’m happy today.

 The wind brushed my hair gently as we laughed and talk about ourselves

He suddenly stood up and reached his hands I grabbed it and he pulled me to the

beach

We played there as the sun set we ran around till our clothes were soaked

Then it began raining again, but we continued playing, indeed it was one of the happiest days of my life, all in one day.

At that time I realized that anything is possible when I’m with him.

The next

day came and I again stared at the window looking at the late students running

towards the building.

“Pres.” Someone called

When I turned around it was him he was smiling brightly

“What’s up?” I asked

“Let’s eat together” He insisted

I stood up and casually followed him to the cafeteria

We grabbed our meals and sat in front of each other, He kept talking and talking although I think he’s comfortable so I just listened to him and kept eating.

We were back at class again he was so focused up in front, I kept staring at him  Asking unbelievable questions to myself, why has he been nice to me?

Isn’t it weird

getting close to a person you just met? I shook my head off and just palmed my face as I was staring at him.

He suddenly turned to me and looked confused; I smiled as I was still palming my face

He smiled back too.

He...

He looked like a prince.

As the teacher was done with his period he then stood up and went closer

“Pres. Are you busy today?” He asked

“I’ll be going to the library today” I replied

“Then can I go with you?”

“Just stay quiet” I teased him as I carried my books

He ran to get his bag and followed me to the library.

I spent 3 hours of studying but he just slept half way, I woke him up saying “Jay it’s time to go”

He woke up with tired eyes and said “Are you done”

I nodded “You should’ve just went home”

“No, I’ll take you home” He put on his glasses and also brought my bag for me

Why is he doing this seriously…?

I stopped walking and faced him as I took my bag from his shoulder “I’ll go alone from here” I said

“Are you sure? It’s quite dark” He said

“Don’t worry people around here tend to know who I am” I smiled as I pushed him away softly

I waved my hand at him “Thank you, see you tomorrow!”

I spent my sleepless night from overthinking and questioning why he has been so kind to me even though we haven’t met that long.

Is he an introvert too?

Am I his only friend?

I had so many questions

I was so tired the next day and just slept through the whole first class I never knew being the class president would be a great pass to sleep

After the class ended Jay approached me again

“Didn’t you get enough sleep pres.?”

I just nodded and faced at him

“Oh, wait here” He said as he touched my head

What was that? I faced the window and began to close my eyes.

Minutes passed and Jay came back with two apple juice he handed one to me and he went

back to his chair and drank his share.
