Chapter 1 - Reward Ceremony
The lights reflected off the shiny black stage, the loud whispers of the audience reverberating off the auditorium walls.
The announcer, Yi Shan, a famous talk show host was giving out the "Heart Trophy" a reward given to herbal doctors. Its kind of like the noble peace prize for us.
My palms were sweaty and my heart was beating rapidly. I was so nervous!
Tonight, my sister, Yu Mia, suggested that I wear this long, figure hugging, off the shoulder dress with my hair done up in a high pony.
She's the one who convinced me to come to this reward show in the first place...
I hate being the centre of attention.
The stage crew came running over, hooking me up with a small mic attached round my ear, the microphone itself came round to my mouth.

OK! You're all set!
She ran her hands over my dress, straightening out any wrinkles. Also, dabbing my face with power to hide the nervous sweat.

Ok, Miss Yu, 30 seconds!
I gave them a nod showing I understood. The curtain began to rise.
I put on the best smile I could muster, as I walked out of the wing the crowd cheered.
Some were cheering, some were whistling at me, the crowd mainly consisted of male doctors, scientists and professors.
Yi Shan
Miss Yu Anna, everyone!!
Yi Shan, a man with heavily gelled hair and eyebrows held out a hand to me, grinning.
I put my hand in his, smiling innocently.
He placed a swift kiss to my knuckles, I strained my smile, not wanting to show my distaste.
We sat down in the large velvet chairs centre stage, cameras focused on us.

So, Anna... What an achievement! Tell us, what inspired you to become a herbal doctor?
I smiled happily, right now I was genuinely happy that I could share my experience.
Yu Anna
Well, Yi, it all started when I was a young girl...
I told him about sewing and caring for my teddies, using leaves from my back garden to make a pretend medicine.
How I read books upon books of medicinal herbs and anatomy.
Finally, I explained my family's history. How we were a long line of healers dating back 1000 years ago.
After about half an hour of meaninless chitchat, Yi Shan stood.

Thank you for your wonderful insight into this world, Miss Yu.
A clerk handed him something covered with a cloth.
He held it before me, he pulled the cloth off, revealing a crystal heart trophy.

The "Heart Trophy"!
The crowd exploded with cheers and applause.

Awarded to Miss Yu for her outstanding work! Helping mankind cure TB with her ingenious, yet simple, ideas!!
He handed it to me, the lights angled to shine drirectly on it, casting rays of blue light all over the auditorium.
Tears started to spill from my eyes.

Thank you!! Thank you everyone!!
They all applauded, Yi Shan took my hand and signalled for us to bow, we did.
Roses and confetti were thrown on the stage, in that moment my fear of being the centre of attention vanished.
Right now, I was beautiful, I was smart, I was victourius!
No longer in the shadow of my sister!

I was running my finger over the trophy, a stupid grin on my face.
I can't wait to show Zu Chen! He'll be so happy!
Zu Chen is my fiancé, we'll be married in three months.
I looked at my engagement ring, caressing it.
He'll be so happy I'm coming home early!
There was an after party, and after I'd avoided the perverse old men, I'd managed to ask Yi Shan to let me go, he did.
The taxi pulled up next to my house, the lights were on in the kitchen, aww did he wait for me to come home?
I wrapped my trophy back up and handed the driver his pay.
I got out, putting my jacket on, and made my way to the house.
I surveyed the kitchen, nothing. The lounge, nothing...
There were dirty dishes on the table, had he had someone over for dinner?
I tried to block out the sounds but they just kept getting louder, tears began to spill from my eyes.
I fell to my knees, cradling my trophy.

I love you, Zu Chen~
Anger boiled my blood, why was my sister-?!
My fists clenched at my sides as I stood, I placed my trophy on the kitchen counter.
I stomped towards our bedroom, my tears long gone.
There, tangled in each other lay my sister and fiancé.
They broke away from kissing and looked at me with terror in their eyes.

Chapter 3 - Deaths Door
I couldn't control myself, I smacked her across the face.
Zu Chen
Anna! How dare you!
Yu Anna
How... How dare I?
I hung my head, holding in tears. Clenching my fists, I punched him in the face.
Yu Anna
How dare you!! You Cheated on me! Your fiancé! With MY sister!!
Yu Anna
DON'T FINISH THAT SENTENCE.
She gulped, wrapping herself in MY bed sheets she crawled over, reaching for my hand. I shoved her off.
Zu Chen
Yu Anna! Don't be a bitch!
Zu Chen
It's not your sisters fault!
Yu Anna
You're right.... Its both of yours!
My face was red with anger, my heart was broken, my mind was going haywire.
I grabbed Mia's arm, dragging her out, she was smaller than me, more delicate.
I turned to her, my eyes cold and dark.
Yu Anna
You threw away your right to call me sister the moment you betrayed me!
I unlocked the door, she shivered from the cold she was only wearing the thing sheets.
Zu Chen ran after us, he'd managed to put some clothes on.
I threw Mia on the floor, she squealed. I went back and grabbed Zu Chen, using all my strength I pushed him towards Mia.
Yu Anna
I don't want either of you to come here again!!
I took off my ring and threw it at Zu Chen.
Yu Anna
And take this back! You ***!
I turned, wanting to just collapse on the couch. I'd have to burn my bed and sheets.
But Zu Chen grabbed my arm, his eyes teary.
Zu Chen
No! ANNA PLEASE I'M SORRY FORGIVE ME.
I kicked him in the groin, he groaned in pain but that didn't stop him. He wouldn't let go.
Mia, now standing, took a hold of his other arm pulling him towards her, towards the road.
Zu Chen
Anna I'm sorry! I don't love Mia! I love you!
Yu Mia
Zu Chen let's go! Leave her!!
At this point neighbours had gathered, most of them knew what'd happened from our shouting. They were on my side. But none intervened.
Before we could move out the way, Mia pulled on Zu Chen and I onto the road, where a large SUV didn't have time to stop.
I saw a large light and before I knew it, my world had faded into darkness.
I opened my eyes, I was just floating up, I didn't see Zu Chen or Mia beside me.
I was dead, really dead...
People were screaming, running to us below. Someone pulled my body away from the other two. Others were praying asking for my safe passage into heaven.
Someone held me close, saying "thank you" over and over, my beautiful dress was covered in dirt and blood, blood was running from my mouth and my hair was dishevelled.
Suddenly, my view of the world was gone.
