What is a Normal Life?
Having a happy family is normal. Having equality in every way is normal. Having a life without physical, verbal, emotional or sexual abuse is normal. Having people to support you when you need it the most is normal.
My mum always used to say that normal people are content with their usual routines, patterns and social life.
But again, everyone's normal life is what each person defines it to be as normal.
Everyone has their own normal.
Like a common man going to work, spending time with their family and friends and living a quite life is normal.
Then there are celebrities! Their normal can be sometimes pretty much a common man's fantasy but it comes with its ups and downs and limitations.
And then there is my Normal!
What do I mean by that?
Well my normal was growing up in loads of money but have no freedom. My normal was watching my dad work with different mafias for guns, ammunition and drug lords and always live in constant fear of someone coming after us.
My normal was a sheltered and protected life with home schooling because my dad didn't want to risk our lives at any cost. No friends, only my brothers and my parents.
My name is Anika Brielle Cadence. I am 26 years old and am an arms specialist. I work for my dad in designing and working on guns and other ammunitions. I really wanted to study and gain my degree in speech therapy as my younger brother Levi is Autistic but that went out the window. Dad wanted me to learn to work with him so I had to do what he wanted. Not that it stopped me from learning techniques to work with my brother on the side and help him along the way.
Also, that was my only chance at freedom when I went to the arms academy for training. I made a few friends, met a guy and had somewhat a relationship. But all that went out the window as soon as the training ended. The guy ran away at a hundred kilometres an hour when he came to know who was. my father
My dad is Matthew Cadence, owner of Cadence hotels and resorts for the world but in reality, he deals with guns, ammunitions and drugs for two different italian mafias, The Vintelli Mafia and The Rossi Mafia. The hotels and resorts are a means to wash the illegal money and stay out of trouble.
William is the oldest in us siblings. He's my step brother from my dad's first wife who died soon after giving birth to William.
Few years later, My dad married my mum Bronwyn. Then I came along.
For a long time, it was me and Will growing up but mum got pregnant when I was 15. She gave birth to our youngest brother Levi who became the center of my world.
Will got focused on the business with dad as he grew up and slowly grew distant from me and Levi.
I don't know if he's just focused on
work now or does he actually hate us? He's been cold towards me and Levi quite a lot since mum died in a car accident a few years ago. He only talks to us if he wants, otherwise we don't exist. I am quite ok with that myself. I keep myself busy with work that dad wants me to do and stay away from Will. Levi is also my main focus and I had rather not create issues with Will over Levi.
Like i said, my life is pretty sheltered or limited. You could even say it's boring. I never had any long lasting friends because I was home schooled. No cousins as my dad was an only child. My mum's family never kept any relation with us considering dad's line of work.
But still, I managed to catch the eye of someone.
Daniel is the head of the Rossi Mafia and is literally the general definition of a pig. He's a manwh*re and treats women like dirt. He changes women like we change clothes everyday. I am surprised his d*ck hasn't fallen off as of yet.
All that he cares about his business and the money coming in from it.
But he's Will's best friend as well. Doesn't pass an opportunity to hit on me even after I have shut him down multiple times. I would rather die as a 80 or 90 year old ****** than to be associated with someone like him
Not that I am a ****** but my life is as dry as it can be. Other than the small relationship with that one guy at the academy, I haven't been with anyone. Where am I going to meet anyone anyways?
Then there's him.
People call him the devil itself.
Leonardo Vintelli
The head of Vintelli Mafia. His father has always been really close friend of our dad. But for some reason, Leonardo and Will never got along as friends. They are what you would call business associates.
Leonardo does visit New York for work every now and then. He comes home to see dad. The way his eyes scan me send a shiver down my spine every single time. He's a prominent figure back home in Italy as well and there have been so many stories of his hook ups in media. So, you could call him a manwh*re as well
But there's always something about him that intrigues me.
And that's where it stops. Leonardo has never spoken to me when he has come to see dad. He's cold, straight forward and a ruthless man so I would rather keep away from him. Levi made a silly joke once saying Leonardo likes me and keeps staring at me every single time he's here but I brushed it off. Not like, a man who's so hot and sexy like him will ever be interested in a boring person like me.
It's a regular Sunday morning but nothing like a family would enjoy it as.

It's a regular Sunday morning but nothing like a family would enjoy it as.
Matthew
Nika, honey have you looked at the recent gun shipments? Looks like we have a few new ones coming in?
Anika
I did, dad. It was from the Vintelli's shipment. The new Berrattas are good but the sensor chips can be worked on.
William
Do you want to get some feedback on it?
Anika
I will work on it for you, Will.
We were at the breakfast table discussing work when Levi came bounding down the stairs and hugged me.
Levi
Morning! Morning Daddy! Morning Will!
Will just looked at Levi and went back to his food like he normally ignores him. I can't help but roll my eyes at his rudeness towards his own brother.
Matthew
Morning son. You look happy this morning.
Levi
I am. It's my birthday next week and Nika promised me a new video game.
Matthew
Well then, I need to step it up as well. How about Nika, you and I go for shopping today for your birthday?
William
We have the party next week
for my take over dad.
Matthew
I know Will, but it's on Wednesday night and your brother's birthday is on Friday. I am sure we can do something with him as well.
William
I have better things to do than celebrating birthdays. Anyways, I am off. Daniel's flying in today so I will be out with him.
William
Dad, I have more pressing issues such as our financial situation to be dealt with rather than celebrating his birthday.
Will got up and left the table before dad could say anything else.
Levi
Why doesn't Will like me? Is it because I am slow and stupid?
Anika
Levi, you aren't stupid ok?
Levi
I know I am slow, I take time to pick on things but why does Will hate me? He's my brother but he never talks to me.
Matthew
He doesn't hate you buddy.
Anika
Forget about Will. How about we go and get ready for our shopping trip with dad?
Levi
Can we get burger and fries for lunch?
Levi jumped up and ran to his room to get ready. I could tell dad wasn't happy with Will's behaviour
Matthew
I don't know what Will's problem is.
Anika
Ignore him dad, like I do. He obviously has something against me and Levi.
Matthew
I wish he would talk to us about it.
Anika
Have you heard from the Vintelli's about the loan?
Matthew
Yea, I spoke to Lorenzo but he asked me to speak to Leonardo when he comes in next week.
Anika
Anyways, can we get going soon? I don't want to be here when and if Daniel comes in. Can't stand him.
Leonardo
He isn't that bad.
Matthew
Ok got it. See you in an hour to go shopping.
I kissed my dad on his cheek and made my way back to my room. I had Levi's therapist send me some more notes to work with him so I printed them to read later before getting ready to head out. I need to get a dress for Will's party next week as well.
I came down thinking Will would have left home by now considering Daniel was flying in this morning but my luck wasn't really on my side.
Anika
(mumbling) F*ck my luck!
Daniel came over for a hug. I gave him a quick pat on the back before pulling away from him. I can't stand his touch on me at all.
Daniel
Come on, not even a kiss?
Anika
No thank you.
Excuse me but I am about to head off with dad and Levi.
Daniel
I will be seeing you around since I am staying for the week.
I walked off towards the kitchen to grab a drink when Daniel came in after me. I was standing near the fridge when he cornered me standing really close.
Daniel
How long are you going to play hard to catch? You know I want you.
Anika
I am sorry but I am not
interested Daniel. Please move and let me go.
Daniel
Come on Anika, you know I will get you one day
Anika
Well, I hope that day never comes then! Excuse me.
I pushed past him and walked out. Dad and Levi were waiting for us.
Matthew
Daniel! How are you my boy?
Daniel
Doing well Matthew.
Matthew
Well I will see you later
Daniel gave dad a nod. Dad turned around and walked out with Levi and the bodyguards. I turned to walk out but Daniel grabbed my hand.
Daniel
You better think about this and agree to be mine nicely or else you won't like what happens next.
Anika
Daniel, if you ever grab me again, I will shoot you in a way that you will never be able to get your d*ck in working condition again, EVER.
My loud voice made him pull back glaring at me. Not caring about him, I walked out and got in the car before the driver took of. Daniel's words kind of scared me right. He's hell bent of winning me over and I feel sick at the thought of him even touching me.
I cleared my mind from the thoughts of what would Daniel do to cage me and focused on enjoying with dad and Levi. We spent the day shopping for Levi and even got his burger and fries with icecream. I bought my dress for next week and helped dad with a suit as well. It isn't quite often that we come out and enjoy shopping or eat out so I made the most of it. Even though we had bodyguards making us the odd cattle in the crowd, it was still quite nice.
Dad's a well known figure in New York so people know us when we are out and about. That increases the threat on us but I still like to enjoy our time out. Especially for Levi. With home schooling and his therapist coming home, he never gets to go out.
