girl named sakhura who have a disease of schizophrenia who see boy named kirishima as his father who have a crush on kirishima who has a crush on her brother
“So, I was wondering something about this.”
It was after school and Kirishima was sitting in the back of his car, listening to a lecture from the teacher on the importance of homework. He was just getting ready to leave for home when he looked up at his friend, curious about what she was going to ask him.
“What is it?”
She had her hands fiddling with her shirt, avoiding eye contact. “Do you ever wish your mom was alive?” She finally admitted, looking down at her feet.
The question took him by surprise, but he answered honestly, not thinking too much about it. “Sometimes… I mean I miss her every day, but yeah, I wish she could be here more than anything else sometimes. It makes me feel better knowing that someone out there misses her too.”
Sakhura nodded, seemingly satisfied with that answer. She stood up from where she sat next to Kirishima and said, “I’m going to go study. You want to come over later?”
Kirishima smiled, nodding. “Of course!” He watched as she left, wishing that he could do the same thing and just walk off to his house without anyone questioning him about it. It was something he wished for often, actually. But he didn’t have the guts to do so even when he felt alone or upset. He knew if he did it, he would feel worse.
Kirishima sighed, putting the keys back into his pocket and climbing out of the car. As soon as he stepped outside, a cool breeze came across him, bringing him a sense of relief. He closed the door behind him quietly, taking a deep breath before turning around to walk towards his home.
His family wasn’t that far away from the school, only a little over ten minutes walking distance. Kirishima always loved the quiet atmosphere, though. It was comforting for him.
Kirishima turned onto the street which led to their home, stopping in front of the large gate. He pulled a set of keys from his pocket, unlocking the gate and opening the door once he found the right one. His parents were probably at work today since they always worked overtime during the weekends. So, he was completely free.
He walked inside, shutting the gate gently behind him and walking towards the kitchen. There was no one in the living room, meaning his siblings either weren’home yet or weren’t feeling like playing outside today.
Kirishima put his backpack down on top of the kitchen counter and went to get himself some water. When he reached the fridge, however, he paused when he heard a loud crash coming from the bedroom. It sounded like glass breaking.
Shit. Is everything alright?
“Eijirou?! Where are you?!”
He quickly opened the door to his parent’s bedroom and froze. His sister, Sakhura, was lying face down on their queen bed, holding one of the wooden floor planks in her hands, tears streaming down her face as a steady stream of blood slowly seeped through the cracks in the wood.
Kirishima ran towards his sister, dropping the water bottle he had been holding and kneeling beside her, taking the board from her hand.
“Sakhura, what happened? Who broke something?” He asked frantically, his hands shaking slightly from how scared he was. She didn’t respond, instead starting sobbing louder. “Oh, shit. Sakhura, talk to me.”
She let out another sob, wiping the tears from her eyes. “Ei… Ei, I can’t find my notebook.” She cried outlooking around the room for any evidence that she had dropped it somewhere.
Kirishima bit his lip, trying to think of what to do. He didn’t know much about psychology or mental illness, so he couldn’t really help out his sister. But then again, this was Sakhura, one of the most stubborn people he knew. She would figure this out herself sooner or later.
Before he could say anything else, the sound of footsteps echoed through the hallway. He turned his head to look at the doorway, seeing his mother standing in the middle of the entranceway. Her hair was messy from sleeping and she seemed exhausted, like she hadn’t had time to brush her teeth.
“Mom, what happened? Why did she break the floor?” He asked, standing up from the floor as his mother walked towards them.
She glanced down at her daughter. “We were fighting and she threw a pillow at me. Then she screamed at me, saying I was crazy. I don’t understand why she thinks I’m crazy, though. We’ve had our differences since we were kids, but I never thought she would be capable of such an awful act.”
“Mom, maybe she saw something while she was cleaning? Did she say anything else?”No, nothing else.”
A sudden idea struck Kirishima. Maybe, he was overreacting, but it was worth a try. “Wait, could someone have done this to her?”
He tried to keep his voice as calm as possible, but judging by the look on his mother’s face, he wasn’t doing a good job. His mother shook her head, pursing her lips. “Don’t be ridiculous. No one would do this to Sakhura.”
“Well, what if-” Before Kirishima could finish talking, his phone started ringing loudly. He ignored it, choosing instead to turn his attention back towards his mother. “Could someone have slipped something into her drink earlier this week? Something that would make her act like this?”
His mother furrowed her brows, a concerned look appearing on her face. “That doesn’t make sense. None of this does. If someone wanted to hurt her, all they needed to do is snap a picture of her journal and send it to everyone. That would be enough to cause a riot and make sure no one goes near her until the culprit is arrested.”
“Maybe they wanted to frame her? They wouldn’
want to deal with the consequences of framing her. And now that they got caught…”
“I guess so,” His mother sighed, running a shaky hand through her hair. “But why would they want to frame her? She’s just a kid. She hasn’t done anything wrong. What could possibly make anyone think she deserved to go to jail?”
Kirishima shrugged helplessly. “Who knows? Let’s just hope whoever did it gets punished for this.”
“Let’s hope so,” His mother repeated, closing her eyes and inhaling deeply. “Now get to class.”
Kirishima rolled his eyes, waving goodbye to her before heading upstairs to his own room.
As he entered his room, he immediately noticed something was different. A box full of photos, notebooks, pens and crayons were laying on his desk. Most of it was filled with pictures of him and his friends, but there were also a few with strangers. Kirishima frowned as he picked up one of the pictures, noting that the person in the picture was definitely a man.
He flipped open the photo album, seeing that almost every page contained pictures of his friends. Some of them were taken on Halloweennight, others at various times throughout the year (Christmas, Valentine's Day), and others where they all looked so happy together that Kirishima wondered if he should even bother asking his friend who took these. He figured that it probably wasn't important anyway, because the guy probably already told him anyway. He put the album down, deciding to wait until later when he was alone to ask. He grabbed his phone from his nightstand, quickly changing the wallpaper to one that was just his and Katsuki’s faces.
Kirishima: hey dude
He waited for Bakugou to reply after a minute passed, only for it not to show up. Confused, he checked his texts, seeing that his best friend had responded.
Bakubitch: oh hey i was busy
Bakubitch: whats up?
Bakubitch: wait nevermind i dont wanna hear it
Kirishima laughed softly at his friend’s response, deciding against responding. Instead, he decided to call Bakugou. He answered after two rings, sounding annoyed. “What do you want shitty hair?”
Kirishima grinned widely at the nickname. “Hey Katsuki~!” He exclaimed, ignoring his friend’s irritation. “How’s your weekend been?I haven’t talked to you in forever.”
“Hah? I’m always fucking busy, stupid. I was busy last night too, so excuse me for not being able to answer your damn calls this morning! What’s up?”
“Nothing much, I just missed your stupid face! You’ve gotta come here soon, I miss you.”
The angry tone in Bakugou’s voice faded, replaced with a soft sigh. Kirishima could practically see Bakugou rolling his eyes at him. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’ll be there tomorrow, fuckwad.”
“Yessss,” Kirishima cheered, causing Bakugou to snicker slightly. “So, why aren’t you at school yet?”
“Fuckin’ teachers decided to hold a meeting. I couldn’t leave my house, so I just called mom to pick me up.” Bakugou explained, sounding irritated again. “It’s annoying as hell.”
“Well, I better hurry up and catch you up then. Don’t want you being late. See ya tomorrow, man!”
“Alrightwhatever. Bye.” He hung up the call, leaving Kirishima alone with his thoughts once again.
Kirishima smiled to himself. It was nice, knowing that there was someone waiting for him outside of U.A. Even if it was just some random person he met online, having someone to spend his weekends with still made him feel excited, like everything wasn’t completely fucked up anymore.
Chapter 3
‘Damnit, where are you guys?’ Kirishima thought desperately, pacing back and forth across the sidewalk. It was barely past noon, and he couldn’t believe that he was actually running away from his friends. The entire situation was incredibly frustrating, considering the fact that he was worried sick over the possibility of his sister being framed for murder. Not only that, but the thing was, they had just lost their home the day before.
If the authorities found out that the family’s house was broken into and that they had hidden the evidence, he doubted whether they would allow his parents to take care of Sakhura. After all, the police knew that the police officers responsible for breaking into the house often used the same methods as the criminals, which meant there was a high chance that they would arrest Kirishima’s mother as well. His mother’mother’s safety was dependent solely on Kirishima keeping an eye on her. If they found out about the evidence, it would only add more fuel to the fire and they might decide to throw his mother in prison.
Even though he wanted to protect his mother, his priority right now had to be ensuring that she didn’t end up in jail. He knew that there was no way he could go after her himself. There was only one place he could think of to look, although it was risky. But as long as he avoided his classmates, he would have a small window to go searching for evidence.
Kirishima finally stopped moving and let out a deep breath, glancing around nervously before he finally turned around and headed towards his childhood neighborhood. He knew his mother wouldn’t approve of him walking in the streets without telling anyone where he was going, but he had no choice. If he waited any longer, he might lose track of time. So he decided to take a risk and walk straight to his old elementary school.
He had only visited this neighborhood twice. He remembers walking along this same path, laughing and chatting with his friends as they played games. When they were little, they would race each other to the corner store, the grocery store or even the nearby convenience store. Now they didn’dare to go anywhere else. If the authorities discovered that they broke into a building belonging to their neighbors, there was no way they could keep their heads low anymore.
When they arrived, he tried to ignore the stares that followed him whenever he walked down the street. He knew it was pointless to try and pretend like he didn’t know exactly how many people were looking at him and whispering behind their hands about how his mother was being framed by the police. He also knew that it wasn’t worth wasting energy trying to pretend otherwise. As long as the police kept his father in jail, there was no way either of them were getting out anytime soon.
When he reached the corner store, he quickly walked inside, hoping that he could find his mom before the police came back with her. He hoped that she would be okay. He hoped that he hadn’t made a terrible mistake by calling the police. With a heavy heart, Kirishima headed towards the back room.
Upon entering the room, he spotted a woman sitting on a chair, a stack of papers lying next to her. As soon as Kirishima entered the room, however, she looked up and smiled brightly at him.
“Hello, Shoto. You're here early today.”
“Mom, can we talk somewhere else?”
Kirishima asked as he approached her. He sighed heavily before continuing. “Can you please give us some space?”
His mom’s expression fell slightly, but she nodded. “Of course, dear.” She stood up. “Shoto, can you get our jackets?”
“Sure, MOM.”
Once they were dressed and ready to leave, Kirishima’s mother hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek. Then, they left the store, walking side by side and occasionally stopping to say hello to others. Kirishima noticed, however, that most people seemed to avoid staring at him and his mother, making them seem less conspicuous than before. Once they reached their destination, he knocked quietly, not wanting to wake his mother up in case she was still sleeping.
After a while, the door opened. As soon as Kirishima saw who it was, he felt relief flood through his body. He didn’t realize how nervous he actually was until now. “I…um…hey, Bakugou.”
Bakugou scoffed at him. “You didn't tell me that you'd be bringing your mom today. I'm surprised you bothered coming, shitty hair.”
“Oh shut up,”Kirishima said. “I didn't really have a choice. Can you please tell me what's going on? Where's mom? Is she alright? Did anything happen during my absence?” He rambled on, unable to stop worrying about his mother, who had stayed home to help watch Sakhura because of their current financial situation.
Bakugou raised his eyebrows at him. “What are you doing here instead of helping?”
“I told you that I couldn't come because I needed to stay with Mom,” Kirishima replied. He took a few steps closer to Bakugou. “Please tell me that something happened. Anything.”
As soon as Kirishima finished asking his question, Bakugou sighed exasperatedly. “Fine. Calm the **** down before I lose my shit. My dad got arrested yesterday, and I don't know what the **** is going to happen when CPS finds out about that. They already think that I killed him, but if CPS starts digging deeper, it won't take them long to figure out who did it. And I can't take the risk of getting in trouble, not with what I've done recently.”
Kirishima bit his lip. “Didn't you already go to prison? Isn'Isn't the sentence too short if you got caught killing your own dad?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes as he answered. “That's bullshit. It's more likely that my dad was fucking murdered. They'll make a big deal out of it, saying that he committed suicide. Hell, they'll probably send him to prison, and then maybe I'll be able to live peacefully, which isn't gonna happen.”
“But, if you're innocent, why are you scared?”
“Cause I'm fuckin terrified. **** knows what's going to happen when CPS comes around. We haven't been clean, ever since the incident. They're gonna come knocking at our door soon, and they're gonna ask questions. Questions like: Why was your dad locked up in the first place? What were the last memories he had before he died? Who killed him? Did he have enemies? Are they involved in some sort of shady business? What does he have on them? And I'm scared that the answer will be something that I won't like. I'm fucking scared that if I give them enough information about myself, they'll get suspicious. They won't believe me unless I tell them the truth and if I do, they'll think that I have an ulterior motive for wanting to get the charges dropped, like whatBecause I want to escape? That's ridiculous! I hate that shit. They're so damn stupid!”
Kirishima remained silent for a brief moment as Bakugou continued ranting. He wasn't quite sure whether he should believe everything that Bakugou said; it almost sounded like a complete lie. Still, there was something about the way he phrased his words that made Kirishima believe every single word that he said.
Suddenly, Kirishima remembered something and grabbed his phone. “Hey, wait, I'm gonna call someone and see if he knows something about what's happening. Do you mind staying here? Just in case?”
“Whatever, I guess.”
Kirishima dialed the familiar number before raising his hand to cover the speaker. “Hey, Kaminari? Hey, listen,” he whispered, “something weird has happened to our neighbor, and I need some help finding out more information about this. Can you contact Sero, Jiro, Yaoyorozu, and whoever else you can find to help? Also, ask Uraraka and Midoriya if they know anything about it as well, since I'm pretty certain that they're the ones who called us in the first place. I don't know what I'm doing wrongbut I'm pretty certain that this is bigger than us three. Can you ask them to meet us at the station? Please? Thanks, man. I owe you one.”
Kirishima put his phone away before turning back to Bakugou. “Alright, let's go.”
After a quick trip to the convenience store for snacks and water, the two teenagers returned to the main road leading back to their apartment building. They both remained quiet as they walked, lost in their thoughts. Eventually, Bakugou broke the silence. “So, who's the fucker that you wanted to find out more about? Your ex or something?”
“It doesn't matter,” Kirishima mumbled. “Just hurry up and tell me, okay?”
Bakugou snorted, shaking his head. “Whatever. You just gotta remember that I'm never giving you shit again. The only reason I'm talking to you right now is because you're my best friend, and I'm tired of having to deal with assholes like that.”
“Thank you, bro.” Kirishima smiled. “Anyway, yeah, the guy that I was looking for is named Todoroki Touya.Bakugou immediately froze midstep.
“Huh?”
“Yeah, he went to the same middle school as me, and I met him once or twice,” Kirishima explained. He looked over at Bakugou curiously. “Why?”
Bakugou didn't respond. He continued walking, taking large steps forward.
A moment later, Kirishima realized what was happening. “Dude, are you seriously pissed that your old man got fucking arrested?! How the hell could you be pissed off about that?! That was years ago! You were just a kid!” Kirishima shouted angrily at him. “How the hell could you feel anything other than disgust and disappointment after all this time? Don't you miss him at all?”
“Shut up!” Bakugou yelled, grabbing Kirishima's shoulders roughly. The sudden movement caused Kirishima to stumble backward and drop his bag, causing it to fall onto its contents, sending everything scattering across the ground in front of him. Without hesitation, Bakugou bent down and picked up Kirishima's bags, throwing them into his arms. He glared angrily at Kirishima before running off down the street without another word.
“Bakugou! Wait up!
