Chasing The Greedy Interpreter.
She's expensive.
[This story is written for entertainment. And it's fictional. It doesn't show speciality to any religion. Kindly, keep that in mind while reading. It's the plot. Actually Pakistanis__ are devoted to Islam religion wholeheartedly - that's why.]
Reporting to — my most trusted diary. April, 2020. Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Just reached. Thankfully- Even though the taxi driver doesn't understand English - he understands a little bit of Urdu, which helped.
Alhamdulillah[All the praises and thanks be to the creator only].
I'm relaxing inside the taxi after the long journey. Destination - Tourist welfare office.
You know what happened, Yr [Buddy]? I've finally done it! Yaad ha tujhe [Do you remember]? I told you! I'd escape Pakistan!
"I'm now better than I was before, despite every single fans of mine - for the last three days of my journey~~~"
Whoa- I just created a new song, with changing a little bit from the lyrics. I indeed am talented.
I'm Orhan Gazi. A top listed singer of Pakistani industry, who's tired of his busy schedule - and fans.
I left Pakistan, without letting anyone have a clue of that. Just left a letter on my bedside table before escaping my tiring life as a singer — for entire two months.
What the letter contained, was—
"Don't search for me. I'm tired. I'll be back after two months."
I know, Ammi will worry to death, Abbu will curse me for leaving like this. And my fans - the industry? They'll make a fuss.
Who cares? I want freedom.
I've had enough. Now, if Allah wants, I would like to roam around Bangladesh - for this two months.
I've always had an attraction towards the nature of Bangladesh. Especially the village atmosphere there.
Orhan Gazi
"What a view, Masha-allah!"
Hooping down the taxi, after looking around once - I take a good amount of fresh air, with a satisfied smile.
Sylhet.. Is indeed beautiful. It seems crowded though - the main city. I came to visit the nature anyway.
Not everything is perfect - ever.
As I reached the office and went to meet the men who's in charge for selecting an interpreter for the tourists, he signs me to take a seat hospitably.
Ahmed Choudhury
"I'm Ahmed Choudhury."
He looked young, had a newspaper holding while sipping a cup of coffee. He looked at me from head to toe.
Orhan Gazi
"I need an interpreter. Specifically- female. She should be young."
Giving a nervous chuckle, I try to proceed.
It might sound weird. A female interpreter is what I need at any cost. I want romance. Romance is life!
Ahmed Choudhury
"If you insist. Our work is to serve the tourists."
He shrugged his shoulders absentmindedly.
Orhan Gazi
"Oh- she should be beautiful!"
He lets out a sigh of understanding. Beaming with amusement.
Laugh all you want. Just give me my interpreter first.
He passed two photos to my reach. I chuckle unknowingly. She's — beautiful - and young.
She's exactly what I want. A perfect candidate for being my interpreter. Alhamdulillah! My life will be entangled with romance!
But___ something is bothering me.
Orhan Gazi
"She looks like a foreigner with these eyes."
Ahmed Choudhury
"Bangladeshis' also inherit such eyes."
Ahmed Choudhury
"Should I change––"
Orhan Gazi
"No need! She's perfect!"
Before he could finish, I cut in. `What if I can't find anyone more prettier here?`
Ahmed Choudhury
"Well– There's an issue."
Orhan Gazi
"What can be? Kindly explain."
He looked hesitant before speaking,
Ahmed Choudhury
"She's expensive. You know__ a greedy person."
I never kid.
Reporting to - my most trusted diary. I don't know what to do. Help me.
Yr.. kaha fas gaya me[Man.. what have I gotten myself into]? I'm confused.
The same day, evening time. I'm going to visit the interpreter despite of all the creepy things he said.
She wouldn't ask more than 0.2 million bucks, right? No worries.
Thanks to that Ahmed guy, he reserved a rickshaw for me. To the interpreter's groove.
A taxi doesn't visits to that area, where she lives. It's at the very countryside - that's why. — She also loves nature?! Do we share similar perspectives?
I'd be more than happy if I'm assuming accurately! Wish me luck, Yr!
Evergreen nature... is everywhere, as the rickshaw driver goes on.
There are white and blue Lily in the pond water - with Swan playing - Duck too. I adore this sight. I love how a male swan takes care of its children.
This sight of countryside... makes me remember of my childhood. Ammi.. I miss her already.
I remember, Ammi used to run behind me, to feed me Khichdi.. while I was busy playing with the nature.
After dad fixed singing as my profession- my hobby, I lost contact with nature... happiness.
I couldn't realize when I reached my destination while recalling my past. Bidding the rickshaw driver farewell, I pressed the calling bell.
I took a deep breath beforehand.
Samira Shah
"ভেতরে আসুন, ভাইয়া। [Come inside, Brother.]"
When a very young, cute girl (Around the age of 12) opened the door with a smile, I was lead to an almost-elegant looking drawing room.
I didn't understand anything apart from "Bhaiya". Well-
I couldn't understand who she is to my interpreter. She doesn't look like a maid though... Sister?
Bangladeshi girls also wear Salwar-Kamiz. Our culture almost matches - seemingly? She had tied a ponytail.
She signed me to seat on the couch after giving me an assuring smile, confirming - "I'm going to call her."
`A teenage girl.. Couldn't she speak English at least?`
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Did I make you wait, Mr. -?"
I didn't have to wait longer before she arrived, with a brilliant welcoming smile. She sits before me, on the couch of other side.
Orhan Gazi
"Not really - Orhan. I wanted you as my interpreter."
I was going to fix my hair - just then, she arrived.
As much I can remember, Ahmed Choudhury did told her about me on the phone. Did she already forgot?
Wait - She's dressed in western style. Not like Pakistanis'. I'd mistook her as an English from her accent - as well as her looks. If I hadn't known.
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Stop starring at me, Orhan."
She had a smirk on her thin lips - with calmness.
Orhan Gazi
"Sorry- Rahisa, let's proceed."
Got caught red-handed. Unbelievable!
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"It's about my fees?"
Orhan Gazi
"Yes. I heard you are greedy- I mean - are expensive."
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Is that so?"
She looked down, her eyes met the crystal clean floor with some hidden meaning. Um- Did I hurt her feelings?
Orhan Gazi
"I'm sorry if I have unknowingly offended you in some way- I shouldn't have judge before knowing you––"
I said all this in one breath before she stops me by her sudden soft laugh. `Why is she laughing?`
Trying hard to stop, she finally decided to speak calmly—
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"You heard it right. I'm greedy. I love money."
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"About my fees__ Drink the water first."
Confused, I gulp an entire glass of water and keep it back to the table before us.
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Give me 1 million bucks, and I'll be your interpreter for two months. Simple."
Orhan Gazi
"One million bucks– two months? Are you freaking kidding me?!"
She must be kidding- It can't be this much!
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"I never kid, Mr. Orhan. Accept my offer, or leave."
"I might help you out."
A few minutes later. Evening. Same day, same place. Reporting to - my most trusted diary.
I can't believe my ears- She's so rude! Is this how she treats her clients? No wonder, Ahmed Choudhury has warned me beforehand.
Orhan Gazi
"Can't I expect any discount? I mean - 0.5 millions would be alright for me."
I try to be calm this time.
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Why do you think you deserve discount? Do I even know you?"
I thought she'd recognise me- My songs are popular even in Bangladesh! How come- She's not a fan?
She's asking way too much money-
Well- It's not like I can't afford one million. The main problem is__ if I withdrew a penny more than 1 million from my secret account- Abbu will come to know about it. The money there- are all my genuine income!
I've set Abbu as the emergency contact on that bank. Because I never need so much money- So if someone withdraws more money than 1 million, it must be some hacker according to my settings. Abbu's clueless about it.
I've already withdrew 0.2 millions before escaping from Pakistan. There's the limit of 0.8 millions left!
And__ Why did I offered her 0.5 millions specifically? Because the other 0.3 millions are reserved for my stay here, for the upcoming two months. I wanna chill.
My position will be detected, if they find out!
Orhan Gazi
"Um- How about––"
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"I stated my demand. There's no discount for anyone."
Orhan Gazi
"Ms. Interpreter––"
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"What's your surname by the way?"
Heh- Did she recognized me? Can I expect some discount now__ if she's my fan?
Orhan Gazi
"It's Orhan Gazi."
My heart never raced so fast before- Am I__ nervous?
There was a change in her expression after hearing my name. I kept thinking__ Is there a chance for a discount?
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"I remember- Though it was vague at first, but after hearing your name..."
Her doubtful eyes searched mine, as she looked deep into my eyes. I gazed back habitually. She seemed to be observing me for sometime before continuing—
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Oh, Orhan Gazi. You eloped from Pakistan, there- Your fans are making a fuss all over social media. You are now wanted."
I didn't know how to react.
Unbelievable- It's only been three days! I just reached here- I'm already wanted?!
I chocked on that, being dumbstruck.
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"They sticked your photo to all their posts- on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc."
I couldn't meet her eyes anymore. At a situation like this, I had no choice but to fix my eyes on the polished floor in my defeat.
I'm done for. Goodbye to my freedom. They will soon find me.
I stayed at a hotel last night- Could it be possible__ for the people there to see my face by any chance? Allah- Please help.
I left my luggages there, before visiting The Tourist Welfare Office. I haven't even checked out from that hotel- How will I get my things back, before escaping Sylhet?
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"Calm down."
I looked up, hearing her assuring voice.
Rahisa Ahir Shah
"I might help you out.."
