geonyong a young magistrate in he confront a girl and he falls in love with this girl, she is young but so smart and beautiful, she is a scholar but not too deep, just enough for him to know who she is.
jaehyung a young boy whose parents have fallen out, his mother had been working at the same shop that the young girl was at, she fell ill shortly after and died giving birth to their son, jaehyung's father has left the family when he turned thirteen and they are now all on their own.
jeon jeongin, an orphan from an orphanage that had been abandoned by its owner, he is a thief and a liar and has no idea where he came from or why he lives on the streets.
they meet again in a street corner, the two strangers stare into each other's eyes as if looking for something, the night air feels like it burns their skin while the stars shine above them.
"are you hungry?" the woman asks him as she offers him a slice of bread, he shakes his head, "you can have my share." he whispers, "I don't need your share," she says, shaking her head.
after awhile, the two of them are sitting together on the street, talking about their pasts, their families, anything they could come up with.
"so what do you study?" jisung asks the womanhe knows she is studying law, "I am taking medicine," she replies, "how many people have you helped?" he asks curiously. she laughs and tells him there have been many cases where she has given her time to someone else before helping herself, "my name is minho," she tells him, "minho.." he repeats, testing the syllables on his tongue. he nods.
jeongin watches them from afar, from behind a pile of garbage bins, he smiles at their conversation. he doesn't understand how they both seem to care about these strangers, they both look like people that shouldn't be able to be found anywhere near each other, they both remind him of himself.
but then again, he reminds himself, he looks nothing like what people think of him.
jeongin watches the two of them interact for hours until one of them finally notices him.
"why are you still here? get home!" the older man scolds as he walks up to jeongin who is hiding from the sight of a police officer. jeongin stands up quickly and runs back to the alleyway he was previously staying at.
he lies down on the floor of the alleyway and listens to the sounds of footsteps as the policeman goes back inside his patrol car.jeongin takes out a small bag of food he stole from a nearby store and puts some on the ground beside him. he eats the little pieces of bread quietly, occasionally looking back at the door to see if anyone noticed. he sighs, it wouldn't matter anyway, the cops didn't really care about petty thieves. he would have to find another way.
jeongin spends the rest of his day wandering around in hopes of finding somewhere that would accept him, but even the worst places aren't very accepting, people tend to leave as soon as they spot him in the streets.
even the most rundown place seems to have a sign of a different kind.
one day in particular, jeongin decides to stay the night at a bar. he isn't the smartest person in the world, but he tries his best to make sense of everything he sees.
and what he sees makes no sense to him.
it was the middle of the night when a loud bang shook the entire bar, jeongin jumped as he heard someone yell in pain, he looked around and saw someone on the ground, he ran over and crouched next to him, trying to take a better look at the stranger.
the first thing jeongin notices is that he isn't wearing any clothes. he's also pretty pale, and he's bleeding everywherejeongin quickly pulls out the first aid kit he carries around in his bag, he opens it and searches through it to find something that could help.
his hands land on a small bottle filled with liquid. he grabs the bottle and unscrews the cap, pouring the contents onto his hand and then grabbing his friend's wrist to apply pressure.
jeongin watches him carefully to ensure that he doesn't slip away, he begins cleaning the blood off of his face with a rag.
once he deems that he's clean enough, jeongin starts applying butterfly bandages to his wounds. once he finishes, jeongin picks the stranger up bridal style and places him inside of the back seat of the car.
he looks around the area one last time before leaving, and then heading back to his apartment.

Chapter 2
jeongin had only been living in the city for a few weeks and he already felt lost. he hadn't known anyone, he had never met anyone in his life besides his mother and she wasn't exactly in the best state at the moment. the closest he had to friends was one of those beggars who usually lived outside of the townsquare.
he didn't want to believe that he was going to go crazy, the things he saw in those days were real; it couldn't have just been a nightmare, because even though it hurt, it also felt good, and he never wanted to feel bad again.
what made it worse was that he had no money, he couldn't afford anything anymore, and he barely knew how to speak the language.
jeongin had seen so many horrible things that he could hardly remember. but despite the horror that surrounded him, jeongin did not run away. he stayed, and tried to live.
there was always something about the way that a certain pair of silver eyes would gaze into yours that made you calm and relaxed, and you'd never forget what it felt like.
the sound of glass shattering breaks the silence of the night, jeongin snaps back into reality. the smell of blood permeates the atmosphere, and jeongin turns his gaze toward his surroundings.
people are running towards the source of the noise, jeongin follows suit and he notices that it comes from his right.
he runs faster until he hears an awful scream, he stops abruptly when he reaches the source and finds a man, who must've been a merchant judging from the large amount of goods and jewelry he had
the merchant lays unmoving on the ground, a pool of blood spreads out from his chest and he is dying rapidly, it seems like a knife is lodged between his ribs.
jeongin screams in terror as he drops the merchant's body and rushes forward, pulling his dagger from the sheath strapped to his leg. he takes aim at the perpetrator and stabs the man straight through the heart before dropping to his knees.
he looks up at the person who killed the merchant, hoping it might end all of this. it's not a murderer, he realizes, he is an angel, but jeongin's mind cannot process that fact right now.
all jeongin can focus on is the angel holding a lantern, staring directly into his eyes, his hair is flowing around him as he kneels, "oh my god," he mutters to himself.
the angel takes a step closer to him, he takes the opportunity to attack the angel with all of the strength that he has in his arms, he manages to hit the angel's shoulder and the lantern falls to the ground, the angel raises his sword and cuts jeongin across his forearm, blood begins dripping down his arm and onto the ground.
the angel lifts his blade above his head and lets it fall down on jeongin's torsodoes not hesitate, he simply closes his eyes, waiting for death to claim him.
he does not know how much longer he'll survive, he doesn't know if his mother will even forgive him for killing the man that took advantage of her kindness.
it is after what feels like hours that he begins to feel light headed and the world spins around him.
then the angel removes his sword from jeongin's body.
as he lays there, weak and tired from the ordeal, he sees the angel's face, it's a beautiful face, dark skinned and golden haired, with sharp almond shaped eyes that were full of compassion. the angel reaches out his hand and takes jeongin's.
he helps him stand up, and then he wraps an arm around jeongin's waist to carry him. as he holds jeongin's weight, jeongin notices that the angel's grip around his waist tightens and his lips begin moving, he tries to listen, but he loses the ability to speak as the darkness consumes him.
when he wakes up, he is laying on a soft bed, he can feel warm sunlight streaming through the curtains covering the window.
jeongin sits up and looks around, the room is unfamiliar to him, it smells strongly of alcohol and sweat, but at least he knows he hasn't jeongin looks down at his own body and finds that he is completely bare, but he notices that his pants are tucked into his boots. he slowly gets out of the bed and walks down the hallway, eventually coming upon a bathroom. he enters the stall and shuts the door behind him.
he takes a quick shower and changes into a simple white T shirt, a pair of black skinny jeans, and a leather jacket. he brushes his teeth quickly and then heads back into the bedroom, where he finds a stack of neatly folded clothes on top of the bed. he recognizes the clothing as belonging to the boy he found in that alleyway a few weeks ago. he picks them up and examines them, he finds a pair of socks that are too big for him. he pulls his shoes on and grabs a pair of black gloves from the pile. he opens the door gently and steps out into the hall.
after walking around the apartment for what feels like forever (though it could actually have only been 30 minutes), jeongin finds himself standing outside of the building where he lives. he hesitates at first, but then he figures that if there is ever a chance for him to escape, he has to take it.
so he climbs up the fire escape that leads to the roof of the building. when he gets to the roof, he breathes in deeplyied.there is another person there, he doesn't recognize them, but he's still relieved, he has a feeling that this man is helping him. maybe he's just someone who happens to be passing by.
"you know, I'm pretty sure you're trespassing," the stranger says suddenly, jeongin whips his head towards the man and gasps slightly at the sight of his face. it's none other than jisung.
jisung doesn't wait for jeongin to say anything else before telling him to climb down the fire escape ladder, he does what he's told without hesitation. he climbs down the ladder with the same speed and grace as jisung did, he lands safely on the ground.
they don't exchange words for a while, jisung keeps looking down at the ground and jeongin keeps glancing over at the younger to see if he would tell him what happened.
eventually, jisung speaks, "what do you think happened?" he asks, jeongin looks up at him, confused, "why?"
jisung looks back at him, "because we should try to figure out who did this, or what caused this."
jeongin nods and follows after jisung, although he doesn't understand why they need to know this, he wants to trust the older.he trusts him. he's helped him countless times, and jisung has saved his life several times as well.
they spend their entire morning searching for answers, they even look in every corner of the city and find nothing.
jeongin goes home that day with a heavy heart, his mother has stopped asking any questions and has decided to let him stay in his own room rather than in his bed. jeongin hopes that the next few days will be better.
jeongin isn't expecting anything different though.
-
jeongin has been staying in his room since the incident at the market, he hasn't eaten or slept well at all in two weeks.
his mother is constantly begging him to eat or sleep, but he refuses to do either.
one morning, however, when he leaves his room, he discovers that his mother has bought him some clothes to wear. jeongin isn't surprised because he can tell that she is very worried. he wonders whether he could convince her to give him money for food, she is probably sick of buying him the same meal everyday.
she gives him a bowl of ramen and tells him to eat, so he does. it's been four days since the incident and jeongin is still starving, but eating will keep him alive long enough until he manages to get back home.

"jeongin! good morning!" the man greets him.
"hello hyunjin," jeongin replies in monotone. hyunjin smiles at him reassuringly, he is always trying to make jeongin feel better.
hyunjin's smile falters for half a second, but he quickly recovers. "are you alright? you seem off." he asks, tilting his head curiously.
jeongin shakes his head and tells hyunjin that he's fine. he doesn't want to go into detail about what happened yesterday, not after everything that's happened. he can't help but wonder if the demon is aware of the situation that is happening right now.
hyunjin decides to drop it though, he doesn't seem to push, but it makes jeongin feel guilty anyway. "i hope you feel better soon!" he shouts over his shoulder as he exits the room.
jeongin spends the rest of his shift thinking about the events leading up to the incident.
jeongin thinks about what exactly happened, why would someone do such a thing?
jeongin sighs and pushes those thoughts ahe needs to stop dwelling on the past. it only brings sadness and pain.
Chapter 2
"don't worry, i've been saving your ***, so don't worry about that asshole."
jeongin remembers clearly that conversation with the demon, he had said something along those lines, he was talking about seungmin.
"thank you... hyung," jeongin had replied quietly.
that's when they got called into the main office to discuss about the new employee and the recent increase of deaths.
"hey minnie, how's it going?" one of the other employees asked as jeongin entered the small conference room, the others were gathered around the table with him and seungmin.
seungmin shrugged lightly, he didn't seem happy, "fine, i guess."
jeongin glanced at him from the corner of his eye. the demon's eyes were wide open with a sense of curiosity. he seems almost excited to learn about whatever new job the new employee may bring to the company.
jeongin glances over at the demon, he seemed genuinely interested, which made jeongin feel slightly more confident than he already was. he didn't expect that he'd be hired.
"anyways, today we'll have our newest member come here, he's also a new hire," the manager explains, "way.his name is seungmin, we're having a little meet up with him later to talk about a lot of things.
the meeting continues to go on, they discussed some details that were needed for the upcoming job, but they left him alone to focus on what was going on. seungmin seemed extremely focused on the conversation.
the meeting ended, and he followed behind everyone as they all filed out of the room. he looked up and saw the demon staring at him, he didn't really care at the moment though.
"hey minnie, how was it?" one of the other coworkers asked as they walked out of the room, jeongin looked up at the sound of his name, the demons' eyes met with his, but the demon turned away immediately, and continued to follow behind the group as they walked out of the room.
jeongin was disappointed to see that the demon wasn't paying attention to him anymore, and it saddened him even further. he had tried hard to befriend the demon, but he kept rejecting him.
he sighed and started walking towards the exit, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. he flinched violently, turning around sharply, only to see the demon smiling softly at him again.
jeongin took a step back, the fear inside of him growing tenfold.
