I still remember that day.
"It's..ok.., everything..is...fine." She said that as blood spilled out from her mouth and the iron bar pierced through her spine.
Before everything in front of me, my past self could only cry out for help in desperate. Every night, I always ask questions like "If I didn't ask to go there that day, what if I...".
"But...but.." he stuttered as tears dripped from my eyes mixed with all the blood on the ground.
"You...must..live..on, you must &@#%."
I always blamed myself for not being able to remember those words. But how could the brain of an 8-year-old boy bear at such a sight? When the smoke cleared, my mother took her last breath, at that time my past self could only kneel and cry in vain. Suddenly, it turned its head to look at me.
"Wake up." It shouted in anger.
What?
"WAKE UP."
I opened my eyes after what seemed like an eternity. I found myself covered with well-dressed wounds. On my mouth was a breathing tube and next to me was a machine that seemed to be making a high-pitched squealing sound as if to wake me up. I looked at the nearby calendar, today is ZZ/YY/20XX about 3 days since my recent accident.
"H..o..." Damn, now I can't even talk.
I wanted to get up, but I knew that after getting up I would experience a series of pains that spread throughout my body. But I'm sure that pain will never as equal...
"Doctor, is my baby okay ?"
Her. The clinic door opened. I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.
"He suffered serious injuries after that traffic accident. However, now that he is out of danger, we just have to wait for him to recover."
"He's out of danger... Oh my god, thank you doctor for saving my baby."
"It's okay that's what a doctor should do. And what's more, it looks like these injuries will follow him for the rest of his life. It is unlikely that it is completely treatable."
"Don't worry, my boy. I'll make the other driver pay the fine he deserves. Doctor, can I have some alone time with him ?"
"Of course."
After saying that, the doctor left. After a few minutes of silence, she decided to break the atmosphere by coming closer to me and whispering.
"Didn't expect a bug like you to survive that accident."
She could finally let go of that deceitful face. With a charming face and hot body surrounded by the most expensive black flames, it is possible that she could have won an Oscar if she entered the acting industry. I would also have hit her scheme if I hadn't known her first. No need to guess that you were the mastermind behind that accident, stepmother. Anyway, this isn't the first time she's admitted me to the hospital and it certainly won't be the last.
"Work, work, I have work to do,... That damn old man has been blabbering all day with those words since the day I came to be your stepmother in place of your dead mother. The woman who died in an accident 10 years ago because of you."
Since then, I have closed my eyes in silence. My blood boils but I can only stare at her with my eyes wide open because even if I want to tell her to stop, I can only resent a few meaningless words.
"Finally. I know you've regained consciousness since the conversation with the doctor."
Then she squeezed the wound under my right thigh. It hurt but still nothing compared to what she had done all these years.
"Hmm, even bedridden can still bear the pain, what a nasty hitter. Feeling so helpless and desperate isn't it like when your mother reached out to save you that day. Then you live on to be an idiot who saves people with your fists and causes trouble, not inheriting your father's inheritance. If she knew what your future would be, then she would have abandoned you by then." She said that as she squeezed the wound even harder.
DON'T YOU DARE SAID ANOTHER WORD ABOUT IT.
"From the moment I saw your face when someone called for help, I knew you weren't a good thing. We all want to satisfy our innermost desires and are willing to do things that are not right. Although I don't like your mother very much, your mother and I both want the best for our children, and in order to do that, his father's beloved son must disappear."
...
"Next time I hope you won't go to the hospital and go straight to the morgue. Goodbye."
Saying that she quietly walked out of the clinic and started to shed crocodile tears. After she came out of the clinic, I looked directly at the wall above me and thought, "Is she right?".
[Then why don't you prove it to me?]
I looked around startled. Nothing. Have I gone crazy?
[No, you're not crazy. I was just joking with you.]
I shivered and looked up at the ceiling. A dark thick fog appeared and with that, a faceless black figure floated out from it.
[You have finally seen me.] That thing giggled in excitement as I gazed upon it in terror.
[Now let's talk, shall we.] In the blink of an eye, the thing snapped its right hand.
I feel light all over. My soul was injected from my weak body.
"What...are..you?" I asked it nervously.
[I am THE entity Z. But you can call me Z for short.] That thing, or Z, said it to me while it flying around and paying a close eye, if it even have eyes, at me.
"So what do you want, Z?"
[No, no, no...It's more like what YOU will have.] Z said it proudly as he widen his arms.
"What do you mean by that ?"
Z gave me a ghastly smile, it would have numbed my whole body as if I was in my body.
[Congratulations to my candidate. You have been chosen from among the humans that I have observed over the years.]
"Choose to do what ?" I responded in confusion.
[You will be transported to the continent of Interria in a world parallel to Earth. I have prepared almost everything for you, now just need to choose the location.]
Transported. Interria. Z, what the hell is he talking about.
[When watching a movie, things will be more interesting if you don't listen to the spoilers first.] His smile widens.
He can read my mind.
"So what if I disagree?"
Z's smile suddenly disappeared. He put an invisible pressure on my soul as if hundreds of tons were pressing on me.
[Death is probably something too easy on you human. Trust me, I'll do something a hundred, thousand times worse. Then you will beg me to let you go.]
"So..I..can..only..choose..to...go, right? But...still.." I tried to talk calmly as the pressure keep increase.
My father, even though I still blamed him for the appearance of my stepmother, in the end, both he and I were victims. I always cherish the memories of the good old days before the accident. Those memories and the career my parents built are precious to me and should not be tainted by her hands. Even thinking about it makes my blood boil.
[Oh so you are worried about those things. I can deal with that if you agree.] Z was surprised and deleted the pressure.
"What...do...you..mean ?" Although the pressure was gone, it still affect me to the core.
[You can still keep those precious memories of yours. Plus that stinky stepmother won't be free from her sins after you leave this world. Your parent career will also be taken care of by good hands and flourish like never before.]
"Are you telling the truth ?"
[A promise from a god.]
To be honest, Z's offers are quite appealing. Even if Z doesn't punish me, the injuries from this accident will stay with me for the rest of my life. And one thing is for sure, I won't be talented enough to inherit that property.
"So are I still having these injuries when I transported?"
[No, you don't.]
"How can I adapt to this new world ?"
[I have built something like a game system for you, plus a few extra things.] Z said that as his head spun back and forth, up and down like some kind of demonic ritual just to mess with me.
"What is your plan here, Z ?"
[That information isn't available yet.]
"What will I do in this new world ?"
[Just wait for further guidance.]
"But what about father..."
[Time is very precious, It's a yes or no.]
He raised his right hand, which was burning in a blue and black flame as if he wanted me to shake his hand. Sorry Dad, but I've been pushed to a dead end.
"Yes."
And then something from deep down in my mind awoke, it was like a desire. A desire to help those in need. Those who needed ME.
"AND TAKE ME TO THE PLACE THAT I AM NEEDED."
[With pleasure.]
I took the flaming hand. Flames spread from Z's hand to my soul. My whole spirit was burning, but it wasn't hot at all. This time instead of smiling, Z laughed so maniacally that the hairs on the back of my neck stood up as if I were in my body.
The noises from the machine next to my body pounded rapidly. Not long after, the doctor rushed into my room. I can't hear their words. Who is it, my father, he ran in with tears streaming down his face. It seemed for a moment he saw my burning soul.
"No wait, I need to say to him, please Z." My tear began to drip from my eyes as my father stared at me and Z in confusion.
[I will help him to feel better.] Z talks more calmly and collectively than ever before.
I don't like Z but this time I thank him.
"I'm sorry and thank you for all the old memories."
My soul gradually disappeared into the void. Everything fades and the last I hear is a long, raspy high-pitch noise. Everything feels so comfortable.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself lying on an old bed in a cell with an open door. I can now stand, although a bit tired, but I no longer feel pain. Despite wearing a hospital uniform, the wounds were gone. Outside the corridor was a long passage shrouded in darkness. Everything in this place stinks and smells damp, there are even mice that have lost bones. Where did those bones come from...
"What's the...?"
Looks like I've found the source of those bones. It looks like a human skull. And not only in this room. I began to walk cautiously through the dark corridors, each cell I passed, it is either dried corpses surrounded by flies, or scattered skulls and spines. I come to investigate the body that remained. The body was handcuffed and filled with scars caused by a whip. The best thing I could do for them wishes that their next life of them will be better than this. I feel so nauseous, Z where the hell is you sending me.
"He..hee...he" A giggles burst out at the end of this chamber.
The iron door was opened. Whoever they are, I need to raise my guard, or else I will become another's unlucky fate here. I hid in a nearby cell and looked at the iron door
"Hehehe...Just me and here, little girl."
It is a little girl. I need to help her or else... I got out of my hiding place and ran to the iron door. I saw a guy who looked like 30 years old was holding a rope in one hand and the other hand was holding the right hand of a girl about 7-8 years old. He sees me, then he drops ropes, kicks her into the cell, and threatens to pull out his dagger.
"What are you anyway, how did you get in here?"
Judging from what he's done, it doesn't seem like this guy is good. I didn't answer, it seemed to drive him crazy, he ran over and swung the dagger.
"If you keep your mouth shut then take that answer down with Deathius."
I took a step back to avoid his dagger, however, he slashed through my body. Luckily the wound wasn't very deep. If I want to defeat him I need to take that dagger. I took his hand and squeezed it.
"Ahh..."
It seemed the force of my grip was strong enough to make him drop the knife. I kicked the knife to the side of the door and delivered a powerful blow to his stomach.
"HEL..."
Fortunately, I covered his mouth so he wouldn't call his accomplices. I gave him another smack in the face. He fainted. I quickly grabbed the rope to tie him up. And covered his mouth with a piece of cloth that I tore off using the clothes I was wearing.

"Dragon ?"
Hang on, the girl. I went to a nearby cell, she sat in a corner of the room. She had long, messy black hair and was wearing an old shirt that seemed like poorly patched pieces of cloth. Wait. The horns and the small shrinking tail? Is she not a human right? As I approached, she was scared, tears welled up in her pink eyes, and kept backing away helplessly while covering her right biceps with her left hand. Although I didn't know what she was covering, I quickly tore a part of my shirt off and wrapped it around the spot she was covering. I didn't know if it would help, but I knew that I needed to do it for her. The tears had stopped falling somewhat, but the little girl was still shaking and scared. I took her hand and started walking out of the cell. I stood still and analyzed my surroundings. It seems the exit door was locked by the key lying on the thug's body. There seemed to be no one else in these cells but the three of us.
"T..h..a.."
Her mouth looked as if she hadn't drunk water for days.
"Wait until we get out of here, then say whatever you want."
"Um.."
There was a knock on the door. I was startled. I pulled the girl and quickly went to the side of the door to ambush if someone entered.
"Hey, you bastard I know you're in there."
My heart beat wildly. Will he come in?
